Dr. Baker at Royal Oak is by far the best dentist I have ever seen in my life. He is very attentive, listens to your concerns and makes sure you leave feeling better than you did before coming. The office staff is beyond amazing. Overall a great experience from entering the door to checking out.

Recently got out of the military and needed to have fillings and crowns fixed. They were very helpful and caring and walked me through the process of everything going on. Told me that I had to get a cavity filled and ensured that it would be a smooth process. Will be going back to get bleaching trays and a night guard. 10/10 recommend this dentistry.

I found Royal Oak by driving by one day, and I decided to give them a call. With COVID, I was worried that they werent taking new patients, but they got me in fairly quickly. When it came to scheduling my wisdom teeth surgery and my post op, they were very open flexible with times and dates. The nursing staff is absolutely amazing and I love Dr Smith. I feel heard and taken care of when I come here which is something thats important to me with any type of health care. Highly recommend coming here.

This was my first time meeting Dr. Smith. I took my mom for a toothache. Dr. Smith knew my mom and I were a bit attached to each other, and she has a lot of anxiety. Carmen was our DA. Carmen was AMAZING. Carmen and Dr. Smith walked us through each step of a complicated root canal that she ended up having the SAME DAY that we had no idea she even needed. He took his time with her. They were so knowledgeable. He took so much time to show me the entire image of my moms mouth in several shots. He made sure that everything made a lot of sense. She had very little anxiety and no pain. Carmen was so fast and was an amazing right hand to Dr. Smith. They were the perfect duo! Even though I wasnt the patient, Id recommend going to this office to EVERYONE. The ENTIRE office staff from front to back offered superior customer service and it felt like home. Thank you guys for making a 3 hour visit to the dentist not bad at all!!!!!! AND the next day, Carmen called just to check up on her! This office is unbelievably just sweet, efficient, and truly shows passion for their patients and it shows in every sense.

I was eating Gummy Bears and pulled a crown off!! I called Royal Oak Dental and they told me I could come in immediately. From the time I called until the time I walked back into my house with a fixed crown less than an hour had passed. Dr Smith and his assistant were super fast and nice!!! Now I can enjoy Thanksgiving with all my teeth working!!

During this crazy time of Covid19, Royal Oak Dental is going above and beyond to keep staff and patients safe. When I arrived at the office, reception staff asked me to complete a health questionnaire - using a pen from a jar that had been cleaned before use. After I use the pen, I was told to put it in a jar with used pens (I assume to be cleaned again). My hygienist wore full cover, mask and face shield. They had me rinse with a solution to get rid of any bad germs before they started. Despite all of the safety activities going on, my hygienist (Sandy), and Dr Smith were as thorough and conscientious as always. I was concerned about some sensations and they went to lengths to help me identify potential causes. They made some suggestions and encouraged me to come back if there was no improvement. I had been a patient of the original owner (Dr Baker), many years. When he sold his practice a few years ago, I was iffy about continuing with an unknown. However, Dr Baker still puts in hours, and the original staff is still there working for the new owners. Dr. Smith is part of the new management. He is as nice and as good as a dentist as Dr Baker was previously. All in all, I can always count on the staff to take good care of me.

I have been going here for around 20 years. I spent some time away after my father passed and returned here for service. I have had preventative fillings put in on all my back molars many years ago here before i was old enough to drive, and one cavity repaired in my bottom front teeth when I was about 16. I have basic ph saliva so i calcify, not cavitate unless like my bottom row, which is slightly overlapped. Upon returning they wanted to say the preventative fillings were cavity caps, that they never do that. I was there, I remember, no drilling, no cavities. I dont know if the procedure of placing preventative caps is taboo now but lying to me, and saying my father lied to me is a huge insult to my personal history. After getting into an argument with my tech, they no longer contacted me anymore or concerned themselves at all for me as a patient. They parade as this all supportive staff, yet have this air of smugness to their entire building. Maybe being in business too long can be a bad thing when you start acting like you know their life better.Shame because these people know my family, went to bible study with my step mother.

The entire staff that works at this office are truly special people. I grew up as a patient here (my mom was a patient while she was pregnant with me - Im now 28 years old). Dr. Baker and his staff have always exceeded the expectations of patient care. I have had the opportunity to meet Dr. Smith since he took over the practice and he fits right in. I feel like family when I walk through the doors of this office. To put it simply: great team, great dentistry, great location, great conversations, great visits.

I LOVE this office. They are always so patient with my entire family, and consistently seek to meet my needs, while keeping cost and my insurance as factors.Dr. Smith is very thorough with his care plan, and patient with all of the kids. My children prefer his methods to those of the pediatric dentist.He has done three sets of wisdom teeth, (all in house) with Carmen, who is stellar with her directions. From the moment I stepped into the office until I left everything was wonderful. The staff was happy, friendly, and competent. My dental assistant did a nice, gentle, cleaning of my teeth and explained everything in easy to understand terms. The dentist also was very nice and went to the extra effort to grind one tooth a bit to get rid of a cold-sensitivity issue. Im glad to have found Royal Oak Dental Group. I dont remember ever having a better experience with a dentist group (and Im 66 so Ive had my fair share of dentists).

I received a flyer in the mail about Royal Oak Dental Group, and I read the qualifications about the Dentists and continued to look around to see if anyone was as good and qualified as Drs Baker and Smith. I was still a bit nervous going in to inquire about how to begin to make an appointment. Both office administrators were so very kind, patient and genuine in person and on the phone. They tried charging us an outrageous bill of over $1,000. Lied about calling the insurance company saying we’d only have to pay $250. Then changed it to $432. Now we got a bill saying $864 is owed. They are a SCAM FOR MONEY! Do not waste your time at this dentist!! TWO other dentists told us our teeth were fine and had NO CAVITIES when they wanted to charge us $2,000 for cavity fixes for my wife. Everyone told us they were money hungry and we didn’t believe it where they were nice people. Be careful people!!!

Where to begin...One of the worst mistakes I ever made was going to this dentist office. I had older amalgam fillings replaced with the more modern version. Now, I have discomfort, heat and cold sensitivity, and my tongue is still partially paralyzed from the incompetent dentist that numbed me. Dr Smith is a hack. I wouldnt recommend him to do dental work at the animal shelter. He keeps telling me that my tongue will recover in time. Its been two weeks. Im speaking with an attorney concerning malpractice.Update:I was also informed before I had my procedures that o had wonderful dental insurance that would cover up to $2500 dollars in dental work.I underwent 2 procedures and paid the remaining $450 total that was remaining in the office on those days. I have since received 3 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BILLS varying in amounts owed between $800 and $400 dollars. They cant even get basic billing correct, and they will tell you anything to get more money out of you. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities to this dental office, from injuring patients, to advising procedures that are unnecessary, to inaccurate billing. The sheer level of incompetence amongst the staff is staggering. How are they in business?

Ive just transferred this year (2015) to the Raleigh location from Cary, which I had been using for years. My transfer was only because Raleigh is much closer to home. That said, I would highly recommend either office. The staff and dentists at both locations are very polite, courteous and sincere. I feel they are doing a great job and I have no reason to look anywhere else.

I have been seeing Doctor Baker and the rest of his wonderful office staff since I moved to Raleigh in 1994. I am always greeted in a very polite and friendly manner. As a matter of fact, everyone there goes out of their way to be friendly and acknowledge me as I walk through. The professional cleaning I get every six months is especially good and very in-depth. It includes going over past problems, current problems, and areas to watch for in the future. They have the latest technology to diagnose and treat any problem. I was happy to see at my last visit, a new procedure that screens for early periodontal cancer. I have had several crowns and replacement fillings over the years and they specialize in tooth-colored, bonded fillings that actually strengthen the tooth as compared to the metal fillings and all crowns are done in-house on the same day so no need to come back for a permanent crown two weeks later. I guess no one likes the drilling, but all in all, a very pleasant experience.

I have patronized Dr. Baker and his staff for 15 years and have always been completely happy with them and the results on my dental work. The practice has new, younger dentists who have joined them. I have used one of the new dentists and again, good results and a very pleasant experience!

Broke a tooth on Friday late. Jagged edge of tooth was on inside bottom left. The jagged edge rubbed my tongue raw. Could not get away from the tongue rubbing on the bottom inside jagged tooth. Lost three pounds because it hurt so bad to eat and swallow as the tongue kept rubbing itself raw. Called first thing Monday. Dr. Baker will be in tomorrow. Can you make it? Of Course!! 1045 I arrived. Carmen prepped me, Dr. Baker did his magic. High Tech was called in. And by 1245 (2 hours later!!) I had my crown. I cant believe it took that short a time. I remember when crowns took weeks. In any event I am grateful for being worked into Dr. Baker schedule. I am now starting to gain weight again. Thank you all!!!

I have been a patient here for well over 10 years, and my father drove 45 minutes each way for years to go see them because of how well he was treated. I have found them to be on the cutting edge of the technology curve (new equipment and practices) while always staying competitively priced versus offices with older equipment and less comfortable experiences. (As a self-funded [no dental insurance] customer, that has always been important.) One-day, one-stop crowns have been there for over 5 years, and I still talk to folks who have 3 or 4 visits for one crown. You may find dentists who are a few dollars less, but not much less, and you ultimately get what you pay for.I just broke a tooth last night, was in the chair before 8AM this morning (they really work to fit you in, BUT I did get extremely lucky), and out the door with 2 fillings completed 45 minutes later. If you want a long-term partner in your dental health who you can trust to look out for you, you wont do better!

My experience is that I keep getting texts from this group that I have had absolutely no treatment or experience with. They bought a practice here in Chapel Hill and continue to text me on my cell phone (3 times in less than 3 months!) soliciting my business even though I have never given them permission to nor do I know them.
