I wish to give them 0. I call them twice today, and they just hang me up. This is super unprofessional and unacceptable for a SHC. If you don’t care about students, why do you even work here?

Don’t even bother going here. The staff is blatantly rude, and do not give explanations to any questions you have- or direct you to anyone that can. For a school that cares “so much” about covid-19 safety, their health center is so unhelpful and not urgent to providing you with answers and assistance to any issues you may have.

To give a star because I cannot post a lower one. Here, at this particular place, the secretary is more like a guard while the doorman is more like a secretary.

This review is for a scheduled appointment, not urgent care, so keep that in mind. The staff at SHC were incredibly professional, helpful and friendly. They did my full clearance physical with blood work, drug test and EKG in a timely manner with a single appointment and everybody I interacted with seemed very happy to be working there. Highly recommend.

Very sad that we can’t put 0 stars. Go anywhere but there. Also, they are the most unhelpful and rude people over the phone.

Depends who you get. I’ve had mixed experiences. One of the counselors was friendly and understanding, as was a doctor for a checkup. The doctors I’ve had at the women’s health center were astute and attentive. Some counselors were just condescending and one of the doctors didn’t seem to get why I had come in. So, going in, hope that you get lucky with one of the better practitioners.

Such a pleasant experience! Went in with a flu and fever, feeling terrible, and felt so taken care of from the moment I checked in. Incredibly nurturing, efficient, smart nurse and doctor (and even the receptionist!) Really grateful given how sick I was feeling.

Do not waste your time. Secretaries lie about wait time just to get the co-pay from you. When you ask them for assistance to know how much time you have left they refuse to help and not empathize. You might as well pay to go to a REAL health center with workers who actually care. This is ridiculous.

Its better to make an appointment than going to urgent care because you may need to wait for more than 1 hour in urgent care center while you can comfortably wait at home.

This is specifically regarding the Womens health center, as thats the only office Ive been to visit here. Some of the nurses have come off as a bit clueless. (One ordered a pregnancy test as part of my visit, even my informing her that I have an IUD. This is also in my records, which the provider saw before confirming what I already knew - a pregnancy test was totally unnecessary given the reason for my visit.) On the other hand, the providers Ive seen have been generally very helpful. The last one I saw, NP Elisabeth Newton, was really great. She was kind, straightforward and easy to talk to, which made the visit so much more comfortable.

Everyone was nice to me. I felt really taken care of and trusted the Doctor that was assigned to me. I guess it depends on who you get but I had a very good experience.

My experiences with the nurses and doctors have been great. Everyone was really friendly and accommodating and the waiting times are usually pretty short.

Why become a doctor if you treat your patients like nuisances? I came into urgent care because I had a chin laceration that literally went down to the bone, as I was later told by the surgeon who stitched me up. The provider with me handled it SO roughly, and pretended not to notice as I was crying in pain. She sighed dramatically when I asked if I could call my mom to double check about my insurance, as if it were the most ridiculous request I could have possibly made. Rude, unsympathetic, and unprofessional. The service was speedy but mildly traumatic.

Im glad I went when I was extremely sick, but had to talk to my insurance provider because I was billed for everything instead of my copay. Instances where I tried to get advice or make appoints over the phone were completely unhelpful. Honestly, treating your symptoms with stuff from CVS is usually a better option.

Yes, the NYU SHC sucks. I will spare you the horror stories. Here is how you survive it (based on personal experience of seeing primary care and specialists at the SHC and beyond):1) If you have insurance through NYU, please know that you have other options other than the SHC. Yes, it is easier to go to the SHC since you are pretty much guaranteed not to have pay out of pocket, but the staff here (everyone from the front desk to nurses to MDs) do not care about you or your well being, and they are pressed for time and resources. Realize that the NYU insurance is in network with most places that accept Cigna and get your primary health care needs fulfilled somewhere else. You may have to pay a co pay, but do your research and the quality of care you will receive will be 500% better.2) If you want to see a specialist, DO GO TO THE SHC. A referral from the SHC is the easiest way for the claim to be processed by NYU insurance, and make sure you hand the referral letter to the specialist office when you go. Explain your symptoms and insist on seeing a specialist, do not let the SHC misdiagnose you or ignore your symptoms. Better yet, go to your primary care physician (outside of SHC), ask them to diagnose you, then go back to the SHC to get the referral. Sometimes the insurance may not accept a referral not coming from the SHC. You can do your research and tell the staff at SHC exactly which specialist office you want to go to and for what reasons. They give out referrals relatively easily depending on who you see.3) Be your own advocate, do not ignore your body, understand your symptoms, and dont let anyone from the SHC tell you otherwise. If one provider you see from the SHC ignored your symptoms, leave and go back again until you get the referral/medication/care you need.

I have had terrible experiences with the pharmacy for all my years here. Staff is very unprofessional and rude constantly. I would definitely send medications to the surrounding pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens instead of using the NYU one.

WOW, seeing some of the reviews here, I guess the place went downhill since they moved from being next to the dining hall. When I worked there, I had a grumpy lady from Staten Island and pat delorinzo, she was NASTY to work with.Donna the nurse was Mello but too formal for my tastes and under valued my EMT skills, didnt put them to good use. Ah.Its a clinic folks, what do U expect, well it is NYU so its suppose to B betta.
