Just had my baby there a week ago and my experience was great. Arrived at the Stork Express about an hour after calling them to tell them my water broke. Their phones and computers were down when we arrived but they still had me in my room quickly and were ready for me in L&D as soon as we got there. Shout out to Chelsea in L&D!! She kept my husband and I sane the entire time we were with her. Through getting admitted, recieving my spinal and c section, and waiting in recovery to hear about our daughter... it was seriously like having a family member or best friend there comforting and helping us through it all. Our daughter had to be flown to Vidant. The doctors, nurses and everyone involved were on top of things, getting our baby the help she needed.

My daughter can barely stay awake and has not eaten or drank anything in over 24hrs. They wanted a urine sample regardless of me telling them she hasnt urinated in 13hrs. They told me to take the urine cup and put it in her diaper. Yeah that was the dumbest thing Ive ever heard. They took her in triage and xray as soon as we arrived. We have sat in the waiting room for 5hrs just on results. She is the only child and her being as lethargic you would think they would try to give her fluids. Unreal. Worst Ive seen.

Probably the best experience I’ve had at an emergency room. I had a room within 30 min and both the nurses and Doctors were very attentive. I ended up having emergency surgery and the transition to the OR to recovery was seamless and painless. I couldn’t have asked for a better team of professionals.

This happened sometime ago. Around February of 2014. (I know it to be strange to just now say something) I felt that this issue needed to be mentioned. This hospital made me lose faith in the medical community. I bring this story up often when I mention terrible hospital experiences. I was at home in my apartment when I started to have a numbness sensation in my neck and thought that maybe I had pinched a nerve. Then it spread. Then my heart rate went through the roof. I generally thought I was going to die. I panicked and rushed to the hospital. Keep in mind I was 23 years old and alone in this town. I had a decent experience with the with the nurses I first met with. But the doctor that came into speak with me ruined the entire experience. She flat accused me for coming into the hospital to get drugs...:. I understand that in this area the drug epidemic was large. But to say that to someone who was in the middle of a panic attack is disgusting. I doubt that this hospital will A) reach out or B) do anything regarding my review. It will always haunt me that this doctor made me feel like I was in there for drugs when I thought I wouldn’t survive the night. (Months later) the hospital sent me a bill for a bunch of money when I had medical insurance. If you don’t have tri care they don’t know how to process. I warn anyone that goes here to make sure that you stand up for yourself. I was young and scared and alone and this doctor had zero bed side manor. I can still see her face. I pray that she has since left or has been terminated.

Do not go to this hospital. We called last night to have someone give my dad my phone number so he could call me for a ride home because his phone was dead. No one gave him my number and When I called my mom to check on him this morning and I find out my 62 year old father walked 7 miles home. 1 they should’ve given him my number like they were supposed to and 2 they could’ve called him a ride. Mind you it’s a 7 mile walk and it was after midnight. This place needs to learn some care and compassion.

In the past, we have had horrible experiences at this hospital. However my daughter was in the hospital this past Monday through Wednesday and it was by far the best experience at any hospital Ive ever attended. They were all polite, gentle, caring, thorough and aside from the wait in the waiting room in the ER it was an incredible experience. Which the wait is understandable due to covid.I would like to personally thank Sydney, Peyton and Jessica in the ER department they were very hospitable and understanding. Also once we got our room on the second floor I would like to acknowledge and shout out to sienna, Teresa, Melissa, Remy, Caitlin and Morgan. Of course theyre probably some names I did not get but everyone we encountered during this 3-day experience of worrying and waiting were some of the best people I have encountered in the medical field. I wish the higher ups in the hospital would look for more people like this when they are hiring. All of these women deserve a special shout out, a commendation, and most of all a raise! If I ever have to attend the hospitals again I would very much so go back to Onslow memorial Hospital!!!

1st time I took my wife there was when she fell at the seniors place and scratched her face bad, black eye and a puncture wound on the bridge of her nose, they were quick to get her in but at the end of the day they sent her home without so much as cleaning the blood off her face and out of her eye.2nd time she was laboring to breath snd she is a heart patient with history of heart attack and seizures. I was told I was not allowed to wait in the waiting room with her, even though the nurse in charge of the Er said each person is allowed one guess to wait with them. I was told I had to exit the Er waiting area, hospital policy even though I talked with three women (mothers) there waiting with their sons ages from mid 20’s to mid 30’s. The nursing staff and Doctors at Onslow Labor and Delivery were unbelievably helpful and kind. They went above and beyond for me during labor, delivery and my post natal care. Despite the rigors and stress that come with delivering a baby the way my family and I were treated was nothing short of exceptional. If I wasn’t so positively sure I am done having children, I would without a doubt feel comfortable and eager to have my baby at Onslow Memorial. I can only imagine the daily stress the staff have to deal with on a daily basis, and not once did I feel like just another patient at the hospital. I wish I could summarize better my experience. I think the staff there are owed a lot more credit than they are given. I remember a few of the names and I wish I could remember them all. Just thank you. I have had ongoing issues with the way they bill. Every hospital I dealt with prior to Onslow billed under one account number which made say to keep up with your ongoing balance until paid. Onslow creates a new account number for every charge so you have a lot of bills with different accounts coming to your home. I got them to consolidate my bills and set up a payment plan. Apparently I missed a payment and when I realized I called them up and made the payment but they still sent it to collections and on top of that they sent the bill as the individual bills they originally were and so now I am getting a bunch of individual collections and Onslow won’t help.

I wanted to take a moment and write my experience at this hospital. I was pregnant and had been using a midwife for my pregnancy and was doing all natural. I had gone into labor at 10pm on Saturday night, and was in active labor with my midwife by noon on Sunday. I had been pushing with my midwife for 4 hours. Unfortunately, things were not progressing and my midwife suggested that we head to the hospital, before baby went in to fetal distress. We arrived at the hospital and I was amazed at the staff. We were at the back of the check in line and they brought a wheelchair, and immediately RAN me up to the delivery room. They hooked me up to monitors, got my check in information with my husband while I got changed and prepared to push more. We tried pushing for another 2 hours medication free, and tried different positions to try to help the baby rotate. After 6 hours of pushing total, the hospital staff advised that we could keep trying for maybe another hour, but that they were recommending a c-section at this point. At this point, we were at 42 hours of labor and 6 hours of pushing and my body was about done. I looked at my husband and we decided to go ahead with the c-section before our baby became distressed. Within maybe 15 minutes I was prepped for surgery and another 20 minutes maybe our son was born.I will say I was always nervous to have a delivery in a hospital because many times staff members can be forceful with decisions and not respect the parents wishes.I was AMAZED with each and every member of the staff during this process. Each person was so kind, caring and respected anything I wanted. I felt heard, and cared for the entire time. The care the next 2 days in recovery was also amazing and my trust and love for this hospital went up. This experience far exceeded my expectations and I am truly glad that I was in such good hands the entire time.If any of the staff members that cared for me during this stay, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for all you did for me, my son and my husband.-Alicia Garr

They don’t have a room so they put her in a wheelchair in the waiting room. At two hours I asked how long of a wait they said could be one or ten hours they don’t quote times. Three hours later I go to the front desk and ask for someone to take out the IV that they used in the ambulance as we were leaving. Someone came out had me sign to release her. As they removed the IV I was saying how horrible it was to have her wait and she was in pain. They were surprised she was never triaged. They offered to triage her but she would have to sit in the waiting room again to wait for the results. It was a totally lack of care and disregard for human life. As the ambulance left with her our neighbors said don’t take her there. I will never make that mistake again. Next time going to Morehead. We got there at 2:30, left at 8:15pm. We had no insulin, none of his meds, had not eaten since breakfast, their pop machine was out of water, I told the them we were going to go home because he was nodding off in the waiting room and needed to eat and asked for his results from the blood and urine and they said no and said we could just leave. WHAT? So they let us walk out knowing he had an average 400 reading for the past few days...I realize they were busy but did not even ask us how he was feeling? Needless to say his blood sugar went down after no food or drink for that long, could have starved him myself at home! Welcome to Jacksonville folks!!! I brought my wife in tonight for breathing problems and they had her wait for 7 hours in the waiting room alone while only doing basic intake tests. Meanwhile she had multiple panic attacks due to the respiratory distress. She was literally getting into the car to go home when they magically pulled a room out of thin air for her. Not only are these people negligent of their duties they are going to have someone die in the waiting room. And the best they can do is give out a PR woman’s name and number with the 100+ reviews of Inadequate care. They know there is a problem and have refused to fix it for at least the three years I’ve been here. This is not even including grossly marking up their cost of services. Onslow Memorial you should be ashamed of yourself.

This hospital emergency room staff is not trained properly or respects individuals that come in there with mental health issues. several complaints have been filed with the joint commission. A mental health emergency is the same as a physical one. for example if someone is sucidial reaching out and requesting hospitalization . This emergency room has a history of dismissing patience. If you can safely go to another hospital like wilmington or new bern it would be in your best health and interest.

The worst hospital I’ve ever gone to. The lack of professionalism and attention was disgusting. After getting a second opinion the day after going, turns out what my husband was there for was pretty serious and should have had multiple other tests done. But they brushed us off. I would never trust this hospital for anything life threatening as they will just blow you off. If you can, drive elsewhere to get better care. This place is a joke. Oh, and don’t get me started on the receptionists. Completely clueless. This place needs to get a whole new staff who actually know how to do their job.

Worst experience EVER! They just don’t care. My husband spent 3 days in the hospital and ended up signing himself out because the care and attention is so bad in a 3 day span he might have spent a total of 10 mins at best with a doctor We kept asking questions and wanting results of labs and stuff and nothing. The doctor said she be back and never came back each day same thing happened. After pushing the nurse button for 45 mins I had to go out and get someone because they were just standing in the hall doing nothing at all. Just awful here but I’m sure I’ll get a nice hefty bill from there after days of laying in a bed with no help at all.

Checked in at 11:45am was prepped and placed back in the waiting room. I was told by my nurse not to eat or drink anything until I’m seen. 5pm and I’m still out in the waiting-room watching patients come and go. (Still on a completely empty stomach) Beyond frustrated! Other patients have been waiting for 7+ hours I don’t understand how this place is operating. Had it not been for the urgent care not having the needed medical equipment I would be leaving. The nurses are complaining about how busy they’ve been. Imagine not feeling well and waiting hours without medical treatment. 0 stars.

So I was told that people go here to die...I had no idea how true that was. I would love for somebody to explain what exactly happened to my mother. She passed on January 5th after showing signs of recovery. I spoke to her at 3:55am that morning and she had said Baby, they hurt me. There have been lots of oops in here tonight, lots of oops. I asked her what had happened and she couldnt elaborate. That was the last conversation I had with my mother. The entire morning they dodged my phone calls for the first time in a week since her being admitted. My mother was admitted to the covid ward on 12-29, was given Narcan due to an overdose of her medications and then she slipped into a coma. It was discussed that she would not be getting any narcotics due to having bilateral pneumonia. Of course, her having covid and all we were not allowed to see her so our access to her was facetime. She woke up from the coma on the 2nd and we were so relieved to have her awake and responsive. On Monday the 4th, I had a 33 minute conversation with her on facetime about her coming home. She was to be discharged in a couple of days they said. I spoke with the nurses 3 times daily at least, never had an issue getting through. They had told me they were deliberately dodging somebody else in my family, so I know they do this as a practice when they dont want to discuss what is going on. Tuesday morning after I spoke with her, I never anticipated what my next conversations were going to be. I called repeatedly that morning and was not getting through, was placed on hold and not answered when calling her room or the nurses station. At 11:45am I got the call from Dr. Ongue (I think that is the spelling for the douchebag, yes, sir that is exactly what you are by the way, you have the bedside manner of a cactus), telling me she had manipulated the situation to get him to give her the tinciest winciest (Id love to know what that dosage is too) amount of Morphine and she relapsed. They immediately gave her Narcan, well duh that was why you were NOT supposed to give her narcotics Dr Douchebag. While asking all of the questions and trying to get to the bottom of what was happening with my mother. He hurried off the phone at the 16 minute mark. 12:01pm was the timestamp. He called me back as 12:15, he said Mariya (no HIPAA code verification that we had on her file for the second time either)Yes, Dr. OngueYour mother diedWhat happened? We believe she had a stroke from a blood clot due to covidHow is that even possible? Shes been on blood thinners and she was tested for blood clots on Friday and none were foundHe continued to talk in circles at that point...They refused to give an autopsy, so my family paid for one privately. Autopsy results are in and it certainly was not a stroke, Im sure youd love to hear what it was. The question is WHAT THE HELL DID YOU PEOPLE DO TO MY MOTHER????? Ill take this to the media, to lawyers, Medicare and Medicaid...your hospital is about to be plagued by the emotional distress youve put my entire family through. All in all, if you want your loved ones to remain with you for any period of time, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

I gave birth at Onslow Memorial on Wednesday. I am a first time mom and was very nervous/scared/excited, etc. all the normal emotions a new mom would be feeling. The L & D floor at Onslow Memorial surpassed my expectations on every level by a landslide. The staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and informative of everything to keep me updated. The food was actually delicious for hospital food. My baby was handled with such love and care. I was ready to go home after being in labor for 17 hours but sad to leave because they really do treat you with so much hospitality and care. I am SO thankful for all of my nurses and doctors that helped make my birthing experience so wonderful. I would hands down deliver here again with my next baby!

If I could give -5 stars I would! On Tue. 2-25-20 I was treated very poorly by the ER triage staff. Very unprofessional! I had been to the hospital prior for very high blood pressure issues. The Physicians Assistant who had dark hair female who had a pony tail told me I was being counter productive to them by coming in again and having them do another work up on me. She was rude, talked to me unkindly and told me to go home. I tried to explain my Primary Doctor was the one who had sent me to the ER but she acted as if she didnt believe me and said she would call him. I told her to do so. The red haired triage nurse was also very rude. After asking to see a patient advocate, which they NEVER called, I told the red haired triage nurse that by law they have to treat me. She said, and I quote Shut up you are getting a room. I was taken to a room with chairs to sit and wait. No one came to check on me or anything. I was left in there and given dirty looks / ignored until the Dr came in. I felt very brushed under the rug by everyone at this horrible hospital. Im now terrified to even use this hospital again for fear they marked my record or something and will ignore any issues I have. This is not how to treat patients. I was not there to seek opioids or any drug addict, Im a regular person who NEEDED care, was concerned for their help and shown no care whatsoever.I suppose I need to get comfortable with driving out of town to a hospital for care which is ridiculous when taxes go to a local one. I suggest all their employees go through sensitivity training or better yet they clean house of all the lousy staff that is only there to collect a pay check and not perform their job responsibly.

On the surface this hospital seems to be very caring. However, it can only be as good as the professionals working there. My loved one was clearly nearing the end of life and medical professionals acted as if it was just another day at the office. Sensitivity training is definitely needed across the board as people should NOT be made to feel as if their dying loved one is a burden. I do understand that medical professionals deal with life and death situations on a regular basis and that it is easy to become desensitized. However, the facility should have continuous learning measures in place to mitigate this risk. There should be mandatory sensitivity training in this regard for doctors, nurses, and all personnel who are expected to comfort family members during this dufficult time.

Terrible bedside manner. We brought our friend who is a post Cancer Op patient in for severe abdominal pain. I understood the wait period and cautions for her temperature for fear of Covid infection, but once her fever broke, the treatment got worse. After telling the nurse numerous times what veins she should tap for lines (not her first rodeo being stuck with needles), the nurse ended up proding and collapsing at least 2 veins before finally calling an ER nurse who landed the vein, exactly where she had told them to put it. Then they tried putting her on antidepressants for being upset with them for not listening to her.For the last four hours of her 50 hour stay she was left with no information on a way forward for care, but insistence that she stay until released even though they had no reason to believe she would be unwell for doing so.Finally we go to pick her up only to find her with her right arm heavily swollen. Not from poking with needles, but because the last IV swap they put in was pumping saline into the tissue just below her skin and not her vein, filling her arm with the medicated solution. Her needle injection site has been leaking saline continuously since we left the hospital. Maybe this was just a few recently added staff, because weve received good care here before with my son. But if this is normal then this place has seriously gone down in its care standards.

The nurse I was assigned was amazing she was really helpful and super sweet and put up with me during my contractions (sorry if I was mean in any way haha) but she got busy with other soon to be moms and I understood that. She had another nurse change out my saline bag.... this nurse didn’t turn the saline drip off and I ended up getting sprayed in the face with saline... no big deal kinda annoyed but I was fine my only thought was getting my baby out lol. The day I was discharged my son was scheduled for his circumcision a different nurse told me it was a quick procedure and I would get him back within 20 minutes 2 hours later my nurse comes in and I’m freaking out crying wondering where my baby is (I was tired and I’m a first time mom so I was scared haha) my nurse put me at ease to say he is fine and should be back any minute and apologized for the wrong information. She is amazing and probably the best nurse I could have had there and I believe her name was Sara!!!! Then the same nurse that told me I would have my son in 20 minutes followed us out to make sure we had a car seat and made sure it was safe. We installed it and the whole time she told my aunt (who was in the delivery room with me) that she was doing it wrong which we weren’t and to move out of the way so she could do it..... uhm ok? Then I was buckling my son into the car seat and I told the nurse I was gonna adjust the straps cause it was to tight she then told me it was fine and proceeded to buckle my son in.... the only problem with that was 1. During this covid thing she wasn’t wearing gloves.... 2. She was in my aunts car... 3. She didn’t listen to me when I told her it was to tight and she almost clipped my sons face into the buckle I had to put my hand between it to stop the buckle from clipping his cheek... I don’t think I ever wanted to yell at someone more... she was very unprofessional and very impatient and did not listen.... other than i would say my experience delivering here was good... the food is nasty tho but it’s hospital food so what do you expect haha!!!

I could write a book on how poor this hospital is, lack of care, lack of good doctors, staff that blows off everything you tell them. Look I understand that there are people out there who malinger, bit when you have a patient who has been to you three times for a worsening issue and every time you just say its a stomach bug with no actual diagnostics done to verify that it starts to look suspicious. So here I am on day 18 of a bug that wont let me eat and barely intake fluids. Bit of advise, if you can go to any other hospital than do so. Unless you like to waste your time that is.

If I could give this place a negative bunch of zeros I would. Do not go there. I went to the ER at 2pm on 5/28/20 with bad abdominal pains. Sat in front room for two hours before being called to another waiting back room with 4 other people. All in pain, one being a pregnant woman.About an hour into this (4pm)they took blood and gave me something for nausea and sent me back to the waiting room and said they would come get me for a ct scan. No one came check on any of us and after the young boy went ask someone when they were going to take us said we have to wait our turn. At 6pm they took my scan and said someone will be with you. No one never came and the lady at the front desk did manage to get someone to give me another nausea pill as I was still throwing up. People were getting up and leaving. We were still the same four in the waiting room from 6pm till 4am when they finally put me to see a doctor and get medical help. They sent me home with no pain meds or anything and I ended up at another ER the day after. There is no way some one should have to wait from 2pm till 6am the next morning in an emergency room . And they were taking other patients that came in after us.
