My spouse was a patient at Kindred Hospital from late June to early August 2021. The quality of care was very high; a doctor saw him each and every day. Our concerns were listened to and action was taken promptly if necessary. The food was surprisingly good. All the employees at Kindred seem to enjoy their jobs and take pride in what they do. We really have no complaints. Thank you Kindred Hospital and all your hard working, caring staff!!

Great facility, helpful staff, and overall amazing experience with Kindred Hospital. I would especially like to point out one staff member in particular, Naisan, patient relations rep. She is someone who is extremely helpful and accommodating. She made my family’s overall experience much easier and was very welcoming. They took great care of my grandfather! My family and I highly recommend this hospital to anyone that is in need of a long term acute facility.

My Father was cared for at Kindred for about 5 weeks. They were absolutely wonderful!! Everyone there was so kind to him. The night he was brought in they helped arrange for me to be there when he arrived. Was fully informed what to expect and was treated with kindness from the start. Everyone from front desk staff, doctors, and nurses went above and beyond to help me and my Father. Rest assured if you have a loved one sent here they will be in great hands 🙂

Got dumped off here around 8pm, room hot as hades. They offered no water and as soon as they went through my bags the staff disappeared. Two hours later still waiting on a fan and getting nauseatingly sick. Ive been in better jail cells. Update ten days later; still fighting with staff over my insulin, nurse says 295 blood glucose is acceptable until morning, not the first time Ive had to complain about this. Dietary still doesnt understand a diabetic diet and lable things sugar free and they arent. The fersh fruit is anything but. Counting the days till I get out of here.

My mom was a patient at Scripps and was going to transfer to Kindred. I was very hesitant to have her transferred because of Kindreds reputation. I overheard the Scripps nurses talking about how everyone was leaving Kindred to come work at Scripps and how Kindred Nurses never check on their patients or change their sheets. I was very concerned. When my mother transferred over the ladies at the front desk were very helpful and informative. I had to fill out the admitting paperwork and Kiana went through each page thoroughly and answered all my questions. Cindy and Sarah were very nice to us and always asked if I wanted a water. The nurses that took care of my mom Stephanie, Luke, Miwa, Marilyn, were great and her respiratory techs were very good. We never had to request a breathing treatment he was always on time. The place was fairly clean - it did have a strange smell like sewage sometimes. My mom was only there for a week but she did get better and I was very pleasantly surprised by the overall great care she received.

My son Cano was admitted to Kindred, where from the beginning he was welcome. He was transfered here after spending months at Scripps where he was saved from Covid on an ECMO machine. Since he was on Ventilator and on feeding tube Kindred was the only option to keep him alive and well ro continue his recovery. Naisan and Shirlee put the best team of nurses, CNA and of course Dr Clarke and Dr Hom together that made my sons life possible again. Keeping my sons self esteem back in his mind again. They were able to get him off of the ventilator in less than 3 weeks, off of the feeding tube by then, feeding him with I will say gourmet food, just the best fine kitchen they have. I wish I can name everybody... Olivia, Nathalie, priscilla, Leanna, Helina, Divina, Cin, Fernando some of the great nurses; amazing CNAs Sherry, Sonya, Mellisa, Alejandra, Michelle, Cassey always made sure my son will get his food just the way he liked it, great CNAs, and the wonderful team of OT , PT, Speech T and respiratory: Andrea, Elona, John, Hazel, Jeff, Thi, Ceasar, Michael, Casey, Roland, I truly believe everybody were family to each other and to me. What can I say about the front desk very profecional and always making sure everything was done right. Kindred has perfect system making us always feel safe by following all the right protocol. Too much to say so many names. Thank you for your hospitality. Thank you for what you do.

Kindred Hospital and their staff are simply AMAZING.My brother had a severe case of COVID for about five months; he was on the ventilator for nearly four months of it. He spent two and a half months at Scripps ICU, he was then transferred while on the ventilator to Kindred Hospital. The doctors and staff at Kindred Hospital helped him heal and get off the ventilator when we thought there was little to no hope in sight. They went out of their way to make sure all his needs were met; they comforted him and calmed his anxious curious inquisitive mind. They were very nurturing and positive, encouraging him along the way, motivating him to push himself while supporting him at every step of the way. When you enter Kindred you are greeted at the front desk by Cindy, Kiana, Sara or Nessan; these ladies set the bar high right from the start with their warmth and desire to help. We had many nurses and staff during his two months stay and they were ALL amazing. Just to name a few, his nurse Nataly went out of her way to make sure all his needs were met and stayed in contact with us even on her days off. The LVN, Fernando was extremely kind and attentive . The Raspatory Nurses were ALL amazing, Antony, Richard, Elona, Lisa, Neil, and Todd deserve a trophy for their outstanding knowledge and care for their patients. Casey/physical therapy , Michael/occupational therapy and Andrea/speech therapy coached my brother to get closer to his pre-COVID life. Doctor Clark, the head of Raspatory has devoted his life to helping patients like my brother, and it shows.I honestly don’t think my brother could’ve been the success story that he is and achieved the miracle recovery that he did, if it weren’t for Kindred staff and their executive group.

Id like to make another review. I was going to wait until my Dad gets home... to praise all the wonderful staff. But before I go there, PLEASE CONTINUE READING as what I am about to say should not happen to anyone with a family member in a hospital. My dad was transferred from Scripps La Jolla, the discharge plan was for him to get his gastric tube inserted. But my Dads doctor here - Doctor Birjandi, for some reason, took his time. Ive been waiting for an update, for him to call eversince my Dad was admitted last January 19, none. Finally, after weeks of waiting, the procedure was done. Fast forward to today, the plan was for me and my Mom to go there for our training, in preparation for when my Dad gets home. My Dads case manager, had us scheduled for tomorrow. But then Dr. Birjandi called - at last! Not bearing good news though, he was informing me (not asking my consent) that he would have my Dad transferred to Community Care at La Mesa TODAY! Also, I was surprised to find out that we were in a conference call already with a certain Jacklyn from the said facility. Usually, I was informed if anyone else would be in the call. It seems everything was ironed out. I wasnt even given another facility to choose from. I was like in a trance, just going with the flow, got the details and informed my mom. Good thing I had the sense to look up the facility - it had terrible reviews - the youre loved one could possibly die due to negligence kind of reviews. I got really worried and came to thinking What is the logic behind transferring my Dad to an SNF just to continue his antibiotics? Why not complete it at Kindred? Would it not make my Dad more vulnerable to another infection once he is transferred since he is immunocompromised and is still on antibiotics? Also, Dr. Birjandi seems to not have the time to give us an update, but he has all the time to coordinate with a facility and finally give me a call after more than a month of not hearing from him? Hmmm. Also, we are already in the process of preparing for my dads homecoming with close coordination with the case manager and Home Health. Why did Dr. Birjandi take it upon himself to go against our wishes, and my Dads for that matter? He may be in a vegetative state but he was clearly agitated earlier in our zoom call. Anyway, I called up the nurses station to get a-hold of Dr. Birjandi. The nurse said shed leave a message. My gut tells me, I should do something. So I called the case manager and informed her that my Mom and I do not give our consent to transfer my Dad. While I was on the phone, Dr. Birjandi was calling my mom, so she handed the phone to me as I ended my other call. It came from his own mouth that yes, my Dad could complete his antibiotic regimen at Kindred (so why the need to transfer him if this is the case?) Imade it absolutely clear to him that we would wait until then and go with the original plan of taking him home. I would do whatever you want, no push. was what he said. Then just this evening, my mom found out from a nurse that it seemed my dad was still up for transfer as per endorsement. Doesnt give up eh? If this TRANSFER would push through and something happens to my dad... so help me God! Already filed a report this afternoon. As promised, I would like to thank the following staff... I hope I do not forget anyone... (My previous review which I edited, was the exact opposite. The first few weeks my dad was in Kindred was an ordeal, no updates or anything. But all that changed and I would like to be fair, with the pandemic and all, anyone could get overwhelmed.) Thank you to Lynae who was outstanding from day one; Shirlee (case manager) who was very understanding and supportive; Charo for hearing us out and being very accommodating; Mark for keeping us updated; Nurses Connie and Chris for going above and beyond; Andrea (speech therapist) for her passion; and Tony for arranging the zoom calls.

I ended up at this hospital because of it’s name and thought it was an emergency room/hospital. I needed help. I thought surely someone will help me. Wrong! I can’t even believe human beings work here. These people left me out on the street like I was a dog no assistance or care. They probably would have helped a dog more. For people to get into healthcare and not care for people is beyond me. You would have thought I had Ebola or something. Even when the ambulance showed up with people who actually care and take their job seriously, they mentioned, “they just left her out there on the ground.” God sees all though. I will never take anyone I love to this company and will spread the word. Only giving it a star cause I have to.

My brother in law was admitted to Kindred San Diego on September 15th in a semi vegetative state and on a ventilator. He suffered a brain injury due to complications from Covid 19. The doctors at the previous hospital he was at said that there was a strong possibility that he would remain this way. Approximately a month after he arrived at Kindred, he was so alert and awake. He made eye contact, mouthed words, moved his arms and legs, responded to commands, and recognizes our whole family. He came back to life from his semi vegetative state. Two months after arriving he is no longer on a ventilator. He still has a long road to full recovery but the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapist, physical therapist, and the entire staff never gave up on him. We are so thankful! Lynnae has also been so great at helping coordinate visits with him, although they are limited do to Covid 19 restrictions, which we believe has helped in his recovery too. And the nurses have been great at setting up zoom calls as well so we can see him daily. The only issue we had was at the beginning with Venus, she’s the coordinator who transferred my brother in law to Kindred San Diego. We originally wanted him to be transferred to the Rancho Cucamonga facility but she lied and said the neurologist who treated him at the previous hospital wanted to continue caring for him at Kindred. Come to find out it was a lie and Venus received a commission for admitting him to San Diego. Upper management did get involved but nothing was resolved because at the end of the day he wasn’t transferred to Rancho Cucamonga. So just be aware when speaking to Venus or a case manager of what their real intentions are. Things happen for a reason and maybe he was meant to be at San Diego because he has flourished in his recovery. It was just disheartening that we were lied to.

After two months in an ICU my wife transitioned to Kindred Hospital. The people there made all the difference for a highly productive stay. Our doctors where not just professionally engaged, they seemed personally interested in us. The nurses were attentive and very professional. The therapy teams made a huge difference. My wife arrived at Kindred hardly able to raise her head from the pillow and left four weeks later after taking six steps with the help of parallel bars. While I would not want to go into any hospital, should medical necessity dictate the need for a long term acute hospital for me or a family member, I would immediately think of Kindred Hospital of San Diego.

I can’t begin to express my gratitude for this Kindred Hospital. When my husband was transferred after is acute problems were solved at Scripps, he was still so weak I didn’t know if he would be able to recover and, if he did, whether he would ever get off the respirator that had been keeping him alive. Also, I had never heard of a long-term hospital so I was skeptical. From the moment we walked in the door we received the best of care. They not only cared for my husband, they made sure I had everything I needed in order to support him. The staff is wonderful from Dr. Clark, who is the medical director, to the rehab team, nurses, CNA’s and the cleaning people who keep this place spotless. Don’t let the age of the building concern you. This place is a gem. My husband is not the same person that he was when he was admitted. My husband was abled to be transferred to acute rehab, free of the respirator and well on his way to a normal life.

Outstanding facility, communication and staff! My mother had a double(!) liver transplant and spent 12 weeks at icu and was recommended an LTAC (long term acute care), only 2 in San Diego. We were extremely nervous with the level of medication, dialysis, and her overall physical state but that quickly disappeared once we met staff. The staff is attentive, very kind, and obviously proficient: albeit staffing shortage is effecting everyone so patience and gratitude is key.Within three weeks she has since recovered tremendously and we are EXTREMELY grateful to have a facility like this locally. Also, hospital food was surprisingly edible (1st world problems) and although not new and fancy, is very comfortable for a hospital without the creepy cold vibes.Lastly, parking is ample and nearby restaurants are outstanding.
