Staff was nice and friendly and informative but the service took forever and cost quite a bit (not that it’s overpriced) and in the end my car is having the same problem for what they had to keep it so long for so not sure what i even paid or waited for.

I was doing a road trip with my boyfriend and his family and we noticed that one of our tires was leaking air. After being on the phone with Hertz and AAA for hours with no help we stopped here at master mufflers. Within 20 minutes Dominic was able to find the cause of the leak, as well as put a rubber plug, and check the rest of tires. Everyone was super nice too, and worked fast to make sure we would continue to have a safe drive to California.

So my car actually broke down across the street from this place and within minutes two employees came over and jump started my car. There were other issues so I had to get it towed but they moved it over to the side of the street for me as it was blocking traffic. Don even waited with me until a tow truck came to make sure everything went smoothly. Their genuine willingness to help is rare these days and they deserve all the business they get!

Great prices. Honest. Saved me 2 to 3 Hundred dollars. I thought Id have to buy a new muffler and a new exhaust assembly but the mechanic said we can cut and weld a section of pipe for 80.00. I am so relieved. Master muffler should be every ones first choice before going anywhere else. Nice shop with lower level bays

I cant say enough about this business. They are super courteous on the phone and in person. No awkward patronizing tone that automotive shops love to use when talking down to their customers (as if we dont have google).Their prices were more than fair compared to the dealership and they got my vehicle in super quick.They did have one communication breakdown on one of my service requests, but they fixed it the next morning for a great price.Definitely going back here in the future.

These people are amazing! We wound up not spending a dime on a worrisome pulsating brake issue we started experiencing when we were coming down the mountain. They did a free brake inspection, noted how worn the pads were, also noted they were still in the functional range, explained the shaking steering wheel was due to the front rotors, but they also explained it was more of a nuisance than a safety issue. They quoted us new rotors that were fairly reasonable ($400 compared to the $500 I spent somewhere else on my other vehicles rotors), and the pads werent too bad either ($190 / axle compared to $300 at another shop). If we were staying in town, I would totally use them again when we can afford to address the nuisance issue!

We needed a pre-purchase inspection on a used car we were looking at, but we were coming from way out of town and didnt know any mechanics in the area. Someone recommended this place, and Im glad they did. Great service, fast and thorough inspection, they saw us same-day, and they didnt even charge us.

I have brought multiple vehicles to this location and have been satisfied every time. They always accommodate and are willing to perform exceptional service every time. They don’t try to upsell unnecessary things and communicate really well. I do lot of my own work on my vehicles, but for any job I’m unable to complete I will always come here. Love this shop. They were super helpful and answered a bunch of questions I had about my catalytic converter (which got stolen). They worked seamlessly with my insurance and made everything really effortless for me. It’s a bit of an odd location, especially with construction, but was a nice, clean shop and the staff were extremely nice and knowledgeable.

Wish I could rate their actual service. I waited 5 hours for a 1 hour job and hadn’t heard from them. When I called they hadn’t even started on my car. I gave up and drove my car to Jiffy Lube on North Temple where they served me immediately. Wasted 5 hours with their incompetence.

I recently had a great experience getting my Wrangler repaired here. I came in for an ABS and traction control light, and for a brake job. I recently had an oil change elsewhere, and the mechanic suggested I get my brakes done.This place easily could have done a brake job for more money. Instead they informed me that I could easily go 10k more miles before needing one.That sort of honesty should be rewarded. Thanks for taking good care of my jeep.

My only place to do oil change and regular car check. Usually take 45min to finish oil change. good service and reasonable price. I usually stay in the Very large and comfortable lobby with WiFi available.

Great people and great prices for auto work. They are straight up and wont try and charge you for non-existent / non-necessary repairs. I brought my car in for a muffler patch and the mechanics tightened up loose bolts on an entirely different part of the car! They really look over every vehicle that comes through!Their oil change service is fast and thorough. I have never had an issue getting my car in and out within a day.Even with their basic oil change, the mechanics look over the entire car, lube the chassis, and top off all fluids under the hood. Its a great deal!

I have had my car serviced here a handful of times. Like a lot of auto shops, they try to upsell you on everything under the sun, even when your car doesnt need it.I had my car serviced 5 months ago and they did a brake fluid service. Today I went in for an oil change, and also had them replace my rear windshield blade. First of all, they charged me $25 for a single wiper blade, which is absurd. Then they called me to let me know that my brakes have 3,000 miles left on them, but that the Carfax is showing I dont have a brake fluid service done, which should be done at 60,000 miles.THIS SHOP COMPLETED THE BRAKE FLUID SERVICE 5 MONTHS AGO, AND THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR ANOTHER ONE, WHEN THEY TOLD ME IT WOULDNT NEED ANOTHER BRAKE FLUID SERVICE FOR 60,000 MILES.Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Look at your own records before you recommend any service.

These guys are absolutely great. I have a 1971 Bronco that they do all the work on. Their work quality is fantastic, but better than that they are very honest- there have been several times that I thought I needed a pricey repair and they found a better solution for a fraction of the cost. Courteous, honest and highly skilled, this is the place to go.

I discovered I had a metal piece dragging under my car and was far away from my home town mechanic, so I called this shop nearby and they got me right in, took off the heat shield that was dragging, and had me out with no charge in under a half an hour. I started coming here over 5 years ago, they do everything my car needs, I drive a 2000 celica and I get honest and reliable advice and service. They are the best. Recently my son started to drive and now we bring his 2014 jeep to this shop. One of the technicians there, Don, was so helpful and knowledgeable.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. When I first moved to Salt Lake I took my car here for everything. They seemed honest, and always helped me understand what was going on. Last year I stopped taking my car there because they had it on their lot for a week and when I called to see if they had had time to diagnose it yet, THEY DIDN’T KNOW THEY HAD MY CAR. It had been parked in their lot and my key was hanging up behind the register FOR A WEEK. Since then I have had to replace the alternator they put in, (Should last about 7 years/100,000 miles and it’s lasted 2 years, 13,000 miles) and the catalytic converter (which they say is their specialty) they put in (Should last about 10 years, went out right after 12 months.) They might have a great first impression, but if you only want to pay for the repair once, don’t take it here.

Been to Master Muffler twice and both times I was satisfied with both the service and the price. The second time they had forgotten to do one of the services I requested so I had to wait an extra 30 or so minutes for them to do it. It was an honest mistake but I was still a little annoyed until they covered the cost of it which was over $80. Very impressive for them to step up like that; I’ll be going back for sure.

Staff was friendly, and was able to fit me in on a tight schedule. However the work performed was not good at all. The muffler was installed sideways and hangs below the frame of my truck, and when stopping at a red light, I get exhaust fumes in the cab. Emailed company for advise, and they never responded. will not do business with this shop again.

Overcharge you for sure. You’ll also get extended fees don’t know for what but watch out for that doesn’t give you details. Look around before you let them start working on you vehicle probably will find cheaper prices with same quality.

Friendly staff and good prices. Straight forward and convenient. Their cat-back options for my 03 Tacoma were nearly 3x cheaper than the factory replacement quoted at the nearby Toyota dealer. Lifetime warranty on their house brand and they wanted to make sure I was happy with the work / sound before I left. Id recommend to most.

I was having intermittent electrical issues and was dreading to have it looked at. I figured electrical problems would be timely and difficult to diagnose. When my break light started giving me problems I felt I had to bring it in. Master Muffler was incredible. They were honest and upfront with me. They not only fixed ALL my issues but the bill was less than half what I was expecting. They are awesome. I highly recommend using them. They are honest, do great work, and are very nice. I dont think you can find better work. I will only bring my car here.

Overall the trip was awesome. I went in to complete an emissions inspection and that is exactly what I got. The wait was longer then expected but they were upfront about how long it would take. I also asked for them to take a look at my breaks to see if they needed replacements. When they were done they presented a list of things that I should have done on the car, this was to be expected. The reason for the 5 stars is that there was no high pressure sales pitch to get me to add on to what I was already doing. They presented the information in a very matter of fact way and I appreciated the concern for my vehicle and my safety. If you like being treated like a person rather then a potential sale then I highly recommend Master Muffler at 690 Main St.

My daughter brought her car in to have the brakes checked and they charged her 460 dollars without going over the individual charges , They charged her 69 dollars for a brake fluid flush and another 16 Dollars for some kind of contamination fee that she wasnt aware of until she got the bill. Bunch of crooks taking advantage of a girl. My next stop is the BBB

I’ve updated my review for this master muffler and I think it’s representative of others as well. Although my repairs required a few trips and more money than I was anticipating; This mechanic shop and the guys there gave me a fair price, and worked tirelessly with me to ensure that I was satisfied and felt good about the shop and their practices. These guys are the real deal and my car has been running exceptionally since I took it there. They care a lot about their customers and deserve the business of Salt Lake City.

My partner and I were in a pinch as our brakes had some issues while we were on a road trip. These guys were super helpful and gave us a much cheaper quote than an auto repair shop gave us from another town. They also finished the job much faster than we had expected. We are both very grateful for their service and for saving our road trip!

I took my Toyota into the Mark Miller Toyota dealership and they diagnosed a faulty muffler, a slipped heat shield and a couple of other things with the exhaust system. For repair they quoted me $1300! I then took my car to Master Muffler and they diagnosed the same issues and quoted me $345 and treated me so well. They told me if I had any issue at all to call immediately. I appreciated that. Also, my car isnt making awful sounds anymore and drives so smoothly. Thanks Master Muffler!

People, do NOT go to this place. Ive been here two times for oil change. The first time they did oil change but told me I needed to repair front break pads and gave me a budget of over $500. Then I went to Meineke and they repaired my break pads for $250.The second time I took it for oil change, there was nothing wrong with my car when it went in, when they told me it was finish they also said that my struts needed to be replaced and it was a budget of over $1,000.There was nothing wrong with my car when it entered that shop.After it finished, I took it to Meineke that same day and they told me they did not change the oil correctly and it was dripping oil !!!!! They took over two hours to do it !!!!They seem to be taking advantage of customers now inventing new repairs to keep a customer hooked !!! beware of these mechanics are NOT TRUSTWORTHY!!!

I’ve lived in Utah for three years and could not find a trusted mechanic. Highly recommend this place. They are willing to show you the parts of the car that need to be fixed and are fairly priced! They even have coupons available from time to time.

Don’t bother. You can do better. High volume mediocre work type of shop. Seems like They assume you won’t bother looking at what they have done. When you do, then call them on poor work. I felt discredited, and brushed off, they didn’t fix it.*Edit. This review is purely related to quality and value of work performed. Presumably, by one service member, on one day, for one costumer. It is NOT a reflection of the customer service received; which was, in fact, quite good.

Bruce was very helpful! They were able to give us a great (and quick) oil change without us even making an appointment. We just walked in and they took care of us. It was also really reasonably priced, and they gave us great tips on various ways to make our car run better and last longer. We will definitely be coming back!

I needed to repair the head gaskets on my Subaru, and Master Muffler took care of me. Bruce and his team talked me through the process and helped me make a decision without any high pressure sales. Im in town from Athens, Ga. So a little ways away, about 2k miles. Of course my power steering decides to start leaking. I went to the local Toyota dealership, hoping that since Im driving a Toyota theyd look out for me. They said yeah its leaking but its not that bad and gave me some power steering fluid and sent me on my way to drive my mother and sister back across country. Within 3 miles the line started pouring out and no fluid was even making it to the pump.Luckily, I found Master Muffler! I called ahead and they said bring it on. Not only did they access the issue and figure out the problem right away it was for free! Then they were able to fix it and have me back on the road in a relatively short amount of time and for a very reasonable price.I will recommend anyone in the area to come to these guys first for any issues as well as regular maintenance to keep your vehicle rocking and rolling! Ive been meaning to write this review for months. I was in town for the holidays in Dec 2018 and Master Muffler really came through for my mother and me. We were in Salt Lake driving her old car, which began steaming under the hood. I called MM minutes before closing to see if theyd stay open for us. They were kind enough to do so, and quickly diagnosed the problem (a leaking hose). They had to call someone from another shop to bring a new hose by, and in the end they only charged for the hose. It would have been so easy for them to say that they were closing and couldnt help us, or charge an exorbitant fee, but instead they were exceptionally kind and efficient. I live far away and cant give them my business regularly, but I hope anyone reading this does. Customer service like this is hard to find anywhere. I wish I could transport this shop to my neighborhood out East!

This is my third time coming here. I feel my car is getting better whenever I come here. People here are super friendly and very professional. Here is very trustworthy. I used to go to really small place which owns by unprofessional guy. I went there because I wanted to save money but apparently, that made me spent a ton of time, gas, and spent more money. I DO RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. You can save time and money, also can get a great service. (It is also really close to downtown salt lake you can shop while waiting )

I’ve never had a experience like this with a shop before!!!This guys are the best. I took my Nissan Altima there and they took care of it in the best way I’ve ever seen. They were responsible for their actions and perfectly communicative. They called me to know if I was ok for them to proceed or not. In the end, they couldn’t fix it for a super specific electric problem of a Nissan but they gave me perfect notes to give it to the dealer. They also didn’t charge for it even though they worked on it for a whole day.I’ll for sure take my car there every time it has a problem from now on hoping that they have a huge profit in the future.

My boyfriend and I used to take our cars here for everything. The guy who was managing it was great. They were quick, honest, and always fair. Even when the service took longer than expected, they would keep up good communication and there were never any issues.Well, they have a new manager now and hes done a great job of losing our business. We gave him a couple chances but its just not worth it. The service is terrible and they quote you well over what the repair costs anywhere else. If youre looking for a shop that will give you terrible service, this is the one for you... If not, Id save your time, money, and sanity and go elsewhere.

I highly recommend the downtown Master Muffler to anyone needing car care. Master Muffler replaced my head gasket, valves, timing belt, etc., in September. In February, the timing belt broke and all that work had to be redone. I had a one year warranty and when I talked Bruce, he stood by the work and fixed it again at no charge to me. No complaints, no questioning, just replaced it and stood by his work. Bruce and the downtown Master Muffler team have my business for life! Thank you!

Great price, and amazing knowledge!!! Not your scumbag mechanics trying to pack on a bill. These guys know what they’re doing and will get you taken care of. I service all of my cars and friends cars myself, but with the winter time coming in laying on the driveway floor wasn’t an option. These guys will do their best to get you rolling!!!

These guys were awesome for me! While in Salt Lake City picking up a new dog for the family, the cable on my emergency parking brake snapped. It would not disengage. Thankfully, I was not very far away from Master Muffler & Brake! I managed to creep my way there and they got me in immediately! Within 30 minutes, probably less, they had me fixed and ready to go! They were outstanding!

I was in Salt Lake for conference. My son (in school) let me borrow his car. I noticed some things that needed attention. I stopped in and was thoroughly impressed with this organization. Not only did they get me in and out quickly, making concessions for me being in town for only a brief few days, but the charges were reasonable and fair. It is a pleasure to be able to recommend them.

I was in town for a convention and was having concerns about the brakes on my van so I stopped in Master Muffler and was glad I did. Bruce got me in as soon as he could to check the brakes. While waiting in the waiting area, I observed how well this shop is run and how professional Bruce is in operating this business. Im from out of state but would highly recommend this shop!

They are great. Ive been here twice and super impressed both times. First time was for a starter. I didnt get the car to them until 1pm on a Saturday and they were able to get it done before closing . Second time, I had lots of work that needed to be done from brakes, power steering leak, coolant leak, o2 sensors and new tires. They guaranteed it would be done by the end of the day and they lived up to it. I have a delivery business and it is always nice to find a dependable mechanic.

I have been going to this Master Muffler for almost seven years now. They are a one-stop shop for everything you need. The reason I keep coming back is because the service is great and their prices are very reasonable. I trust the mechanics and know they arent going to take me for a ride when I take my car to them. One time they fixed a problem with my wifes car. The problem resurfaced a while later and they fixed it again, no charge. So, what more could you want from a complete auto care shop? For years Ive taken my car to this place and have received nothing but top rate service. They are very accommodating with the various needs of the customer, they do good work, and they are fair priced. I had a very good experience with the previous owner but Bruce has taken this shop a step beyond. Best price on an emissions test in town. They got me in quick, and friendly. As I was waiting they told another customer they were able to do something without dropping her a/c compressor, so would charge her less. Not many shops would do that!

Im a first time client at this shop. Im working on an older vehicle and needed a small sleeve custom made for an exhaust pipe repair. The manager listened to my explanation, confirmed what I wanted, and then had the sleeve made. It took only 5-6 minutes to complete and he didnt charge me for it. Great service. I will use them again.

I wondered why their ratings are so high. Reading that they pay $10 for good same-day reviews makes sense. I used to love this business. Then, the management changed a year or so ago, and some of the best mechanics left, and they arent the same business, at all. I find their prices have become over inflated, while their service has become somewhat shoddy. I paid around $500 for a new heater in January 2016 that no longer worked in November 2016. I was told it would cost an additional $1600 to get it working again--this on a 1989 truck that isnt worth $1600, much less $2100 in one year, just to get heat. I have gone in several times this year with different cars, and they never have time to work on my cars. They say they will call when they have free time, but dont. I wouldnt waste my time going there. And I would be hesitant to do business with a company that (against Google Rules) PAYS for good reviews.

The best auto repair shop in town! They have serviced all my personal vehicles as well as all of my company cars. It is a real pleasure to have an auto repair shop you can really trust, the work has always been performed in a timely manner at a very reasonable price. This is a place I can really count on to take care of my vehicles and keep them running their best!

Terrible place for service and left me with a check engine light and won’t even fix a issue they caused dont go there they treat you like dirt.

Don is my favorite! I have been taking my Honda to him for over a year and wouldnt go anywhere else downtown Salt Lake. I have loved Master Muffler from the first time I went there and my car was smoking... somehow they have helped me keep it running beautifully! Quick turn around, quality service, and they always go above and beyond to help me.

Brent and his team are outstanding! Had a few muffler issues which were all resolved and taken care of. Brent is a straight shooter, honest and will tell you what needs to be done. No BS or upselling. Great place for everything your vehicle may need. Tires, Brakes, Oil Changes etc. I live in Park City and will gladly make the canyon drive to get this kind of service and advice.

Been coming here for the past 4 years when I moved here taking 4 cars regularly. This review had been 5 stars, no more. Ignore the 5 star reviews as well, they give you $10 off if you give them a review and show it to them.Prior management was great and honest. The newer management is terrible and I have given him plenty of chances. Not sure where they found him but he definitely lost my business alongside the multiple friends that I had recommended.They always lie about time estimates and take forever to get you in even after calling. No appointments ever offered to me. The manager is always frantic even when he is not busy. Something drastic needs to change here.

I took my Jeep here as it was overheating due to a bad radiator / thermostat. Knowing that my radiator was bad, I asked them to only fix my thermostat, as I didnt want to tackle that job myself. When they called me and informed me that my radiator had several holes in it (of which I already knew) I asked out of curiosity how much it would be for them to fix it... $700 !!! RIP OFF CITY!Being winter I was being lazy and didnt want to spend the time to take apart the housing where the thermostat is located. knowing the radiator would be an easier job, I opted to have them fix the thermostat and I fix the radiator. They did fix the thermostat, so for that they do get 1 star... However...Be warned that in my model jeep, the radiator takes about 1 hour to remove and replace (its a very easy 11 bolt removal process), maybe 1 1/2 hours if one of the bolts is not wanting to come off ... Most of that time is waiting for the anti freeze to drain out. They were wanting to charge me for an insane amount of labor, or they were really marking up the price of a radiator, either way its shady and I will not be going back and advising anyone who mentions this place to stay far away.I fixed the jeep myself the following day, in about an hour, all for the price of a new radiator and some new antifreeze a $600 savings.

Weve been here a few times now, and were always really pleased when we leave. The owner is professional and always explains the cats problems so we fully understand. He didnt just some we get it. They also ALWAYS check to make sure theyre fixing the right problem. Weve had issues with other shops in the past who just guess, and charge us a ton of money... when the problem turns out to be a really cheap easy fix. So were really grateful for the time and consideration given here. The prices are decent, and theyre really good about fixing everything in a timely fashion. And, unless its a super busy day, they always take care of us right away. Love this place!
