Our first visit to Village Eye Care this month was a wise decision. Excellent experience with the Dr. and Joyce Patons professional service for eye glass selections and fit was superior! We will stick with this office moving forward!

I went to the eye doctor here last April during the midst of Covid I moved from New York to Raleigh and I couldn’t get an appointment with everything going on. I had a contact situation so I called because the only way you could get into any eye doctor was with an emergency. The doctor was very smirk and sarcastic with me when I was telling him the situation and once I arrived at the office nobody was there but him and he seemed to not know what he was doing during the entire exam having me go in and out of the optics room to re check my eyes until he got it right. I was there over two hours and at the end of the appointment my insurance didn’t even go through with his office. I had another situation with my contacts because another company that I tried to order them through is taking a while due to Covid and my glasses aren’t here due to Covid and the office staff was very nice but the doctor refused to give me a sample contact lens. I even would have paid money for this lens as my other optometrist allowed this. I consider it dangerous for me to even drive and be out and about with one contact lens in my eye and I still have a prescription that isn’t up until April through this office. I think it’s really unprofessional that with the pandemic and such going on they seemed to not care at all about my situation. Will never be giving this place my business ever again.

Very rushed and impatient. My mother is elderly (84), has a language barrier, and is hard of hearing. I stayed with her during the visit. The doctor wouldn’t even wait for her to answer before continuously flipping the lenses. Even I noticed at some point, that she was just saying any answer as he seemed so pressed.Afterwards, he was pushing for surgery and to refer us to a specialist. I decided to go elsewhere for a second opinion at Duke. What a difference in service, patience, and care!Lastly, despite having Medicare, they charged her for the full visit which we paid at that time.Since then I’ve discovered they also billed Medicare and were reimbursed additional monies.

This office is a bit slow to communicate but Dr. Bateman is a pro. .

I went to the Village Eye Care because I was having pain behind my eyes and other sorts. Once arrived, the front desk staff was very pleasant. However, the Dr. himself had a very demeaning dissposition. The experience was rushed and I felt like he rarely cared about my concerns as a “millennial.” When I was asked questions such as, “Does your vision hurt in the sun light?” I responded, “I’m not sure I really don’t notice.” He then responds in a snarky tone “Yeah you would know!” This happened for two of my responses - a cut off mid sentence. Once the appointment was over it seem like he was persistent in making purchase glasses the day of. I’m not sure if he was trying to reach a quota but it definitely felt like it. He then discussed my payment and insurance with the receptionist in front of me as if I was not there. I have never experienced this with any other doctor. Lastly, in leaving I told him it was nice to meet him - he shakes my hands and walks away. To then go down the hall and discuss the situation of why I’m not purchasing glasses the day of out loud. Overall, this was a horrible experience for me and I will not return. If you do not want a rush pressured experience I do not recommend this location.

Dr. Bateman said let there be light! and I saw those little letters at the bottom of the chart for the first time in a decade. Had no idea what I was missing.Came back to edit my review because I was told Id have my glasses within a week and now were past 3. Its fine if its going to take that long anyways, but dont lie about it.

Ending up looking for a new eye doctor when my previous doctors practice was purchased by a large chain. I found Dr. Bateman and have been very pleased with the service. Its easy to schedule an appointment quickly. He takes his time and is very friendly and helpful.

Bad experience with the doctor and really hard to get my lenses. Gave me the wrong ones and promised to send me the others. After waiting four years I guess I’m it of luck.

Went here today for my first time after many years with a chain optometrist. I won’t mention their name but the initials are A.mericas B.est. But anyhoo, Dr. Bateman was as thorough and helpful as anyone I have ever been to, and I have been wearing contact lenses since 1985. He told me to return in a week after giving me a trail pair, and the fit of the new ones are amazing. Thanks again!

Dr. Bateman is excellent. After a complete nightmare of an experience with a national eye care facility, he saw me on a Saturday (holiday weekend) and spent almost 2 hours with me. He did NOT want me to leave his office without a contact lens prescription that worked. His patience was unbelievable. His care phenomenal and his expertise unparalleled in his field. Knowing I was still waiting for credits on my HSA/Insurance account from the prior facility, he did not ask for a dime in restitution. I am seeing the best I have seen in years! I highly recommend Village Eye Care and Dr. Bateman for all of your optometry needs. He is personable and one of the best Optometrists I have ever met. His receptionist Jackie is so pleasant and a joy to be around. Says a lot that right here in Cameron Village we have one of the best eye care facilities in all of North Carolina.

Had a good experience here, eye doctor was quick. Small selection of glasses, though. I ended up ordering glasses online.

I had a very early morning Contact lens mishap. The lens folded and got stuck in a weird spot that I couldnt reach on my own. The emergency room told me to go to Urgent Care & Urgent Care (on Falls of Nuese, Raleigh) didnt know how to take care of it. My usual eye doc is home in NY. I Googled optometrists around the area, not only is this doc open before 9am, but hes also awesome! He popped it out quickly and painless. Hes been in the practice for 27 years and now I found a local optometrist! Thank you!

These clowns scheduled my first appointment on Easter Monday. I I had to work on that day, so I did not think anything of it. Turns out, they were closed. I will look elsewhere for a new eye doctor.
