I walked into Poiz beauty salon after spending many years looking for my perfect hair color. Michael sat down with me and we discussed what I was looking for and looked at swatches. With Michael’s guidance, I ended up with the exact color I had been wanting. Michael and his staff are terrific. Fabulous color, cuts and the best shampoos in town. I am definitely hooked.

Michael has given me his full attention and care to my session. His service skills are excellent and efficient. He puts the extra mile into what your vision is, the staff is super friendly, it feels like family. I wouldn’t change to any other stylist!

This place is amazing! I got my balayage done by Ainur who took her time and made sure she applied the right toner for the color I wanted and I love how it came out! She is very professional and focused on her work while being friendly. If you can, book your appointment with her. Overall, the place has a really good energy that might be due to the staffs friendliness, the cleanliness and the quality of their products. I will definitely come back here.

I went into Poiz a bit nervous because my last salon experience (different place) resulted in orange hair and badly damaged ends. That horror story, along with apprehension to further damage my hair was quickly resolved when Ainur walked me through a consultation and helped explain how she could fix the problem. She was wonderful throughout and I could NOT be happier with the results! I recommend this salon, and Ainur in particular, for perfect color correction, balayage services, hair repair treatments and best of all, excellent customer service and person-ability. This will be my new salon for years to come.

This was such a great experience. Went from blonde highlights to a full red ombre and they were so amazing with the color. Its vibrant and gorgeous and I feel like Im channeling Scarlett Jo in Black Widow! He did such great layering on my cut and the blowout was perfection too. Couldnt be happier!

Unfortunately the bang trim that I got from Michael was a bad haircut. Im not sure what exactly went wrong. I think my hair texture (Asian) was challenging for him to work with and he kept on cutting off more and more hair, resulting in uneven bangs especially as they fade into my regular length hair. Im bummed. I know hair will grow out put Ill have to live with this for the next couple months. An extremely overpriced service for a bad haircut.

I’ve been going to Michael’s for about 10 months now and what I like about this no fuss salon for someone who never spends much on her hair is that he never tries to do something with my hair that I don’t want. I’m very low maintenance about my hair and so he always does a simple trim or cut for me that takes 15 to 20 minutes and always ends up looking fresher and cleaner than before. He also often blow dries my hair at no additional cost and styles it with conditioning oil. Would definitely recommend!

This is my favorite salon in NYC! Michael, the owner of the salon, cut my hair and he did an amazing job. He took the time to understand the kind of haircut I wanted and several times during the haircut he stopped to ask if i liked the length; his communication put me at ease during the entire haircut. The woman who also washed my hair did a great job and took the time to take all of my crazy knots out and honestly her washing my hair felt like a free head massage. I only went in for a haircut but Michael stopped me and told me it was too cold/rainy for me to go out with my hair wet so he blowdried it for free. So nice!! Will be back again. (Was here over a year ago and he still remembered me and my twin sister!). You wont regret coming here.

Yes, thats how brilliant he is.I stepped into Poiz salon for the first time, a year ago, as my regular hairdresser moved to another location, and while other hairdressers from that previous salon, were too scared to cut my hair, and would categorically refuse to provide me with the service, knowing how particular and picky I was.Fine, I knew I had to find an extremely precise, very confident hairdresser, with high self-esteem, who would not mind listening to my specific directions and constructive criticism, as nobody gets it perfect the first time...As I briefed him on what was coming up, Michael was game! He knew he was dealing with a very demanding customer, and he was up for the challenge.I very much enjoyed his amused and patient attitude, but little did I know he was going to nail it, right at the FIRST time!Needless to say, I have been going back every 3 weeks since then, and would not even think for a minute, about anyone else doing my hair!

Horrible experience. They are friendly and everything but just couldn’t give me what I wanted and kept convincing me that what they did is better. I went for a simple blow dry, after his second try, I knew I needed to go home and wash my hair. And that’s what I did. My bf goes here for haircut though and it doesn’t look bad. I think we just have very different aesthetic is all. The guy gave me a 50yo barbie’s auntie blowout when I wanted a simple wavy look. $35 in the water. Disappointed.
