The ASAP program and the staff are truly incredible. The structure of the program, with a family therapy night and two teen nights, provides peer to peer advice and accountability as well as support for families. It’s the staff, though, that are exceptional, especially in the way they lovingly but firmly challenge the teens and their perceptions. The way they bring up topics and help teens and families work through distinctions between being clean and being sober, family dynamics, grief and loss, etc. are truly stellar. This program helped my daughter climb out of a dark, deep hole and provided the space for healing and trust to take root for us all.

My experience at ASAP saved my life. This program didnt just teach me/motivate me to stay clean, it taught me how to communicate, how to love myself, education on development and how to have healthy relationships. ASAP was the highlight of my week, it gave me something to look forward to. Dr. Davis is incredibly talented and has a true passion for helping others. He is one of a kind; you wont ever meet someone as smart, dedicated and compassionate as him. My mom calls Dr. Davis her hero and says he is our savior. Getting clean and learning how to live a sober life is impossible to do alone. The staff at ASAP provide a perfect mix of education and heart filled conversation. I never knew who I was but ASAP was the one place where I felt like I could be myself. The staff taught me who I am and who I want to be. If you and your family need help I promise you ASAP will be there and teach you things that you wont learn anywhere else. I have been sober now for over 3 years (came in at 15 and stayed sober since), and I wish I could go back just to be around that environment. I miss ASAP, it shaped me and helped plant the seed for growth. ASAP is the best program you can get and if you dont believe me...try it for yourself. (;

ASAP is a great opportunity for teens and parents to learn more about substance use and how this has impacted their individual and family relationships. Throughout the 10 week intensive outpatient program teens are able to develop skills, such as, communication, conflict resolution and relapse prevention. Parents are also involved weekly, which helps them work together and develop a stronger family connection. All work is done in a therapeutic group setting which allows the teens and parents to feel supported and understood. The staff is amazing, always professional and flexible. The changes that I saw with teens and parents was awesome! Family connections were strengthened throughout this program. Parents are able to receive the support they need from other parents that are facing similar challenges. This program is a wonderful opportunity to learn, grow and develop. ASAP is amazing and all of the staff is fully invested in helping teens and their parents develop a safe, loving and healthy way to live. ASAP really works, I have seen it and it is amazing to see the positive changes in teens, parents and in family relationships!

This program absolutely saved my daughters life. Not only did I learn a lot from the parent meetings but my daughter loved what she learned from it and was helping other adolescents in the class while she was there. She completed her class and loved it so much that she is now enrolled in college to be a counselor for adolescents who suffer from substance abuse. I highly recommend this program and Tyler and his staff were absolutely AMAZING!

ASAP is a wonderful Intensive Outpatient Program which works to educate and heal teens with substance issues and their parents as well as enabling them to work better together through the struggle of addiction. I have seen this program in action and am blessed to have been part of the ASAP team several years ago, and can only emphasize how valuable and educational an experience this can be for families going through the fight of their lives to help their teens get back on track with healthy living. Dr. Curtis Walling leads a solid team who understand how to serve and guide those who are lost and not sure how to work through the cycle of addiction and the denial which comes along with it.

Dr. Walling and his staff were incredible in addressing the needs of our family. Their program was highly effective in addressing our son’s substance use and gave him taught him the coping skills to remain successful following graduation from the program. The counselors were supportive but challenged our son to address his use head on. The program also allowed his mother and I to talk with and learn from other parents and families. The program also provides an opportunity for parents discuss and learn from their experiences. Thank you for being there when we needed you.

I could not have imagined a better out patient treatment experience than what we found at ASAP. The model of safe, supportive group discussion, education and accountability was invaluable to our family. Our son, without the comprehensive style used, would be in an even more frightening predicament than we discovered he suffered through. It is open, honest, immediate feed-back driven, keeping all members of the family responsible for the positive outcome and continued journey into adulthood. On your last night there, youll be wishing you could stay with them forever. It is with a grateful heart I thank the very professional staff, interns, parents and teens for the most insightful ten weeks of our lives.

ASAP is an invaluable program for kids struggling with drugs and alcohol. As a psychotherapist, I have worked with many kids who have participated in the ASAP program and I consistently hear how ASAP was a safe haven where they felt supported and encouraged to create positive change. Kids say ASAP taught them life skills and coping strategies that changed their life and put them on a positive path. Dr. Walling and the ASAP staff are so supportive and effective at assisting the most challenging of situations. I send my clients to ASAP often and fully trust the ASAP program and staff. If you have a child struggling with drugs or alcohol, this is the program that can help. I highly recommend ASAP!

This program has been nothing short of amazing! I called Dr. Walling on a Saturday evening thinking I would just leave a message for him to call me back. He answered my phone call immediately. We spoke for about 20 minutes and I was almost in tears as I was overwhelmed by my feelings of being scared for my son and our family with this addiction. I am so glad I made that phone call. It has changed our lives. This is an intense program. My son attended the Mesa location and I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the counselors. They are all very patient with the teens but, they are also strict when they need to be. I was skeptical at first but the process they use worked! You get what you put into the program. My family was serious about this drug addiction and meeting with other families with similar issues made us feel supported through this whole ordeal. I work in the medical field. I cannot recommend this program enough to families who feel scared, overwhelmed , and hopeless. It is scary at first, and you probably wont feel like you or your child belongs in an intense group setting. But, it was exactly where we needed to be. My son is coming up on his 100 day sobriety from drugs and I cant express how happy I am. Please make the call for help. You will not have any regrets if you go in willing to accept whats wrong and make the changes needed. Your childs life and future depend on it. Thank you Dr. Walling and all the amazing staff at the Mesa location!

The information gained, the “homework” given after parent sessions and the overall experience was an enlightening and productive one. The staff are incredibly on point, direct and insightful yet empathetic. The journey my daughter took to land at ASAP isn’t one I want again. Nor ever wanted. However the other parents met along the way, the other teens struggling with similar but different choices and circumstances, and the staff’s ability to guide us through difficult conversations, self discovery and new tools was amazing and in a weird way grounded me in a different perspective and appreciation of life. Life is tough for teens and parenting is tough. The topics covered over the sessions are timeless, research based and simply effective parenting 101. Thank you ASAP staff, and Dr. Walling, for being there when we really hit bottom and needed a guiding light to help us take steady gains up.

When we discovered our son had a substance problem, we werent sure what to do. We are very fortunate to have been referred to this program. The difference they have made in our son is just amazing. Even though he did not want to go in the beginning, he completed the program and ended up graduating. Our son has made great strides and is armed with skills to help him life with decisions and potential problems. These skills can be used for many scenarios, not just those relating to substance. The staff at the Mesa site were incredibly caring about the kids, while not allowing the teens to pull anything over on them. They held the kids, and the parents, accountable and taught everyone how to communicate and cope. We have our son back and this program is a part of that.

ASAP is the intensive outpatient program that we used for our son after trying other programs, none of which were as effective. ASAP provided accountability, education and awareness to our teen, as well as us, his parents. Getting all the family involved is key to the way ASAP works; they believe it is essential that the family be part of the teens recovery. Through the use of behavior contracts ASAP brings parents and teens together to rebuild the family dynamic by providing structure and accountability; this structure helps families navigate the challenges of a teens recovery. We learned much about ourselves and our son, and the lessons learned we will carry with us into the future. Our son graduated ASAP several months ago and he is still doing well, making good decisions, and our home life as been stable, which is a blessing.

Our son was slowly spiraling out of control with continued drug use, withdrawal from the family along with disrespect, and no interest in school at all. This program changed ALL of that. The philosophy and values of the program were on par with ours and our expectations. Our son of course was resistant, but after attending a few sessions, slowly opened up to the process.The teen sessions helped our son deal with issues he was having at school, home and with substances. The family nights focused on all of us; problems that we were having as a family and helping to create solutions for our son and US! We started to look forward to group, as a cathartic outlet along with the help it provided in improving our communication with our son. We could tell our son benefited from the teen group sessions as well, he came home from these feeling positive, and confident.The change in our son and our family life is wonderful, and we would recommend this program to others in the same situation! It is a 10 week program and the process does take time, so dont look for quick fixes after a few sessions. Be patient, and the outcomes can be amazing! Thanks to the ASAP program and all of the amazing counselors!!

We are so grateful for this program. We felt like we were losing our daughter to drugs and were so frightened when we started. Individual and family therapy was not making a difference, so we came to ASAP. Their program works. The interaction and support with other teens and families and the caring staff made such a difference. Their model is based on decades of experience and they know how to relate to teens. Nothing gets by the staff - they have seen it all. My daughter did not want to be there at first. She did not think she had a problem and had no interest in being clean. By the end, she realized she wanted to be clean and we have become very close as a family. We can actually talk about things and are open and honest with each other now. She is thankful for the program just as much as her dad and I are.

I cannot thank God enough for leading me to ASAP. I work with teenagers everyday but to know what to do for my own daughter, I was at a complete loss. Why ASAP? I believe group, for both the parents and the teen, is irreplaceable. On my first night I learned from the counselors, and more importantly from the other parents. The teens even give great insight! My daughter’s journey to being sober has just begun as I know this is a lifelong process. The foundation for success has been set. My daughter has gained so much knowledge to stay sober. She started the program as an angry drug using teen that didnt have a problem. I have learned ways to help her through this process. Without finding ASAP, I’m afraid to think where my daughter could be right now. The communication, tools and eye-opening experiences have been a life changer. Ten weeks later my daughter has a completely different mindset about drugs, her former using [friends], and staying sober. You’d think after ten weeks my daughter would be so glad group is over. Well, as she graduates from the program it’s bitter sweet. Neither of us want it to end, but on the other hand, we are so glad to know she has an amazing start to a life of sobriety thanks to ASAP.

The support that parents get on Parent Night is crucial in helping parents establish a clean household and repair the damaged relationship with their teen. Parents are even taught how to drug-test their teens at home with the best available home drug test kits. No other organization in town has experienced this kind of success in treating teen drug use. We dont have great insurance coverage and we were facing little to no treatment options for our 16 year old son until I spoke with Dr. Walling. Im not sure how anyone could say anything hurtful about this programs financial opportunities for struggling families. Dr. Walling gave us flexible payment options, and because of that our son was able to attend treament where many other programs turned us down. Not only were they flexible with the financials, but I truly think it was a god thing or meant-to-be, because this was the most amazing experience we couldve asked for for my son. He felt safe to open up in the sessions, the counselors were extremely professional and knowledgeable, and each session I saw my son learning and growing. Any time I had a question or concern about my son, Dr. Walling would e-mail me back almost immediately with some suggestions and helpful thoughts. Not to mention the family sessions were incredible and my husband and I learned so much! Now hes turned 18, going to college (we never thought that would happen), and has maintained his sobriety ever since. He even now attends support groups to help other struggling adolescents. If I havent made myself clear, this program SAVES LIVES. And to those who come on here to say derogatory things--you must be jealous, no-good competitors-- and you should be ashamed of yourselves! We are so very grateful to the wonderful people at ASAP. Over two years ago, we learned that our teen-age daughter was using drugs and alcohol. The decline in her performance at school and in her relationship with us was rapid and terrifying. We thought we were losing her and felt helpless. A friend recommended ASAP, and we enrolled her immediately. The program was awesome. With the guidance of ASAPs skilled professional staff, our daughter and the other kids in her program learned valuable lessons about life and substance abuse, shared their thoughts with each other in a loving and nurturing environment, and helped each other to deal with their underlying problems and recover from drug abuse. ASAP involved the parents, too. The program gave the kids a safe place to talk to their parents, and vice versa. Very soon, we went from being terrified about having to go with our kid to a drug rehab program, to being grateful for the safe space in which to help our family get better. And it worked. Our daughter has been sober for more than two years. Shes happy, productive, and looking forward to college. We cant thank our friends at ASAP enough for helping us get our little girl back.

My family has a long history with the wonderful professionals at ASAP dating back to the early 90s. We are still grateful for them. We missed the 25-year celebration in 2016, but will say congrats now! For all these years ASAP has set the standard. We have stayed connected with the Program over the years and we have referred several friends from our church, all of whom had a great experience. Since I know the ASAP staff and program well I would like to set out the straight facts for readers. First -- Leadership. ASAP is run only by licensed professionals with extensive training. For all these years Dr. Walling and Dr. Lett and Dr. Rohde have owned the program, with Dr. Walling running daily operations. The “Doctor” is always available at ASAP. In fact, ASAP is the only treatment center we have ever seen where the owner and clinical director, Dr. Walling, personally answers the phone 24 hours/day . Parents are delighted when they call and get the doctor that designed and owns the program on the phone for immediate help. Second -- -- Only professionally trained staff. Some treatment centers hire 19-year-olds with no professional training who have a year or two of sobriety as “experts.” ASAP’s philosophy is that while sobriety is of course wonderful, it does not make you an expert in treating addiction. Only professional training does that. ASAP’s policy is to hire only highly trained clinicians. To the person who wrote a review calling the staff “relatively young girls”—those are actually 26-year- old women finishing their master’s or PhD degrees at ASAP. It is offensive to call these professional women at ASAP “girls.” Third -- Low cost. The cost of the ASAP Program is reasonable, actually a small fraction of any residential treatment. And the cost for treatment at ASAP is not set by ASAP—the cost is always set by your insurance company. For example, if after three sessions you drop out you would only pay the insurance company rate for those 3 sessions. Simple. Fourth-- Everything by the book. ASAP does everything by the book -- there is no smoking allowing, teens are not encouraged to drop out of high school, none of the silly things we have seen elsewhere. Thank you ASAP for setting the standard for teen substance abuse treatment here in Arizona!
