Worst experience with the Auto loan. I initially reached out to this Credit Union because they were supposed to help first time buyers (and graduates from UCs) like me to have an easier experience for their purchase. But it was the worst experience. At first I ignored their bad reviews and thought lets give them a chance, but then saw why they have so many bad reviews.- The interest rate was almost the highest among all the lenders that I applied to.- The response speed was super slow. I almost waited a week to just get some basic information as opposed to a 24-hour turn around that most lenders do.- And then once approved for the loan almost after two weeks, they asked for so much information that again would take another week to gather and provide to them.

The service really isnt the fastest and the convenience is nowhere near a traditional bank. This is how I imagine banking probably was in the 90s.However I continue to use this as my primary bank because Id rather not reward the bad behavior from the corporate banks.

Applied for an auto loan and you would think UCU would make at least some effort when a potential new client comes their way. But no - I received no information, no contact, nothing from them until I finally called their office and was told someone would get back to me.So later I get an email from one of the branch managers and he doesnt even quote me an APR! So I respond with some questions and... Crickets. I am so surprised by the lack of service at this place.

Update 6/15/21I have had the hardest time cashing a check via mobile app. I literally had to call my insurance company, have them cancel the check and just have them send to account via EFT. My check got rejected twice all because I got married and ADDED a last name. Still have my maiden name attached. Im upset because there is no response from operations team after leaving voicemails, sending name change docs and calling multiple times. Ive had 2 other mobile checks deposited with the same exact name from the IRS that was accepted but not from an insurance company. She also keeps deleting the checks so no one can see it on their end which is frustrating.Ive been with the credit union for years and they are the best BUT I have just spoken to the worst rep for the first time ever since Ive been with UCU by the name of Rico. He sounded like he doesnt want to be at work.. I dont feel like I was helped, questions werent really answered and will be calling back in hopes of getting someone else.

Expected a bit more from a credit union. Walked in to find the reception desk empty and the restroom was worse than a gas station. Two tellers on a Monday and the coffee dispenser in the lobby was empty. Overall a really bad experience waited over an hr to be told my loan inquiry needed to be done online. Management needs help with staffing.

UCU demonstrates everything thats not great about credit unions - total lack of convenience, etc. In addition, this particular one has terrible customer service and if you end up getting an account with them, they will harass you to no end with sales and marketing pitches.I just tried to close my accounts there and the rep was incredibly unhelpful and is now going to send a check to an address where they know I no longer live and dont get mail delivered.

Dont even try to get a credit card unless you want to spend endless effort at UCU getting it right: filled out form to take money from an account at another bank to pay monthly statement in full for online banking. Several months didnt happen. Customer service friendly but ineffective. Refunded finance charges but still happening. Finally someone looked deeper and told me form was entered for one month only! Who would want that?! Left message for a Supervisor. She called me a few weeks later. I do telework in healthcare so often on phone. My calls go to her voice mail. Ive yet to speak with her. Still happening in April. since Jan Finally, I decided i need to go to the Bank Manager. Left a message for him. No return call. My relationship with clients and my sense of doing the best I can depends upon good customer service. I call at least by the following day to sort out customer complaints. Whats up with UCU!! Just dont care?

I have been at this credit union for over 20 years. They are terrific! We have purchased cars through them, bought our house, refinanced and use their MasterCard. The customer service is the best there is. It is so wonderful to work with a financial institution that treats you as a person. They have been most helpful in resolving any issues with our accounts. The whole family banks here and wouldnt have it any other way.

They provide good upfront service and are open on Saturdays. However, they cannot withdraw money from your original bank thats co-oped with University CU on Saturday due to lack of a branch link to your original bank.

They never answer the phone and there new app always have issues. I am not able to log on to my app. There old app was better, more efficient, and it worked.

I have been a member here for over seven years and today has to be the last straw for me in terms of their mobile apps check deposits and the department that handles this service. To be told that they only look at the deposits 3 times a day is truly bothersome for me because the point to any app is convenience...I have a routine with depositing in app and today it seemed no one could offer good service and actually help me.

I gratefully appreciate that this credit union offers shared branching!! I moved here from Alaska, and this is the only bank in my area that is shared with AlaskaUSA FCU.Im really thankful how early they open so I can get to them before work, just on time.Thank you!! Life saver!

Called in. Mary didnt know if the CU was a shared branch and didnt know the terms I used to define the network of shared branches, but did feel free to tell me that I could withdraw, deposit, and other functions if it was! Oh, but Id have to check with my bank first. And she told me all that though I dont think I finished a sentence before she cut me off. Thanks, Mary!

Ive been a member of the University Credit Union since 1981, yes thats almost 35 years, and Ive been very pleased with them. I moved to the Bay Area in 1998 and continue to use UCU for my banking needs. Great customer service -- very responsive to its customers!!

I have banked here for almost six years now, and I am very satisfied with the banks customer service, the availability of affiliated ATMs, and overall their willingness to help me manage my money wisely. The nice thing about a credit union is that they are not in the business of making money. Rather, they exist solely to help their members. The staff at UCU has never forgotten their mission, as they are almost always friendly and ready to help. They also offer a low-APR MasterCard to students, excellent rates on various loans, and the ability to create multiple savings account pools named after your various savings goals.

I dont know why but anything i try doing through UCU never goes smooth.. I really needed to get a hold of someone at the branch and I called around 4:30ish because the hours online said the branch was open today until 5... I was on hold for over 30 min and never got to speak with anyone.

UCU is the worst bank ever. I have never had any good experience with them. I’m writing this review, so others don’t have to waste their time and money working with them.I applied for an auto loan, and they ran my credit file. I received the status that says it’s approved since I have a very good credit score. I called the bank to check with my approval letter, but as they say, I have to wait for a loan department to reach me, and the bank doesn’t know anything regarding the loan. It’s been four days since I applied, and I still haven’t heard from them. It is unacceptable they run members credit files and do not respond.I ended up going with another bank, and it took only a matter of minutes to get the loan.I would never do business with this bank ever again. This bank is still decades behind.
