My mother just turned 90 and was quarantined in the Covid unit at Palm Garden, scuppering family plans to see and celebrate with her in person. But two incredible women helped us out and saved the day. Denise Herman, one of the ward nurses, offered her personal cell phone for daily conversations with Mom leading up to the birthday. And Janine Farey, Director of Social Services, volunteered her time to pick up a birthday cake at a local bakery, and used her personal laptop computer for a family Zoom call that spanned 6000 miles of family members, from California to Scotland. We were able to tell our remarkable mother and grandmother how much we love her. But we could not have done it without the kindness and generosity that Denise and Janine showed. We are so grateful to them and to Palm Garden. They are incredible women.

I have a 91 year old Aunt in Palm Garden. Has been there for 10 months. I handle all her business from 700 miles away. If you ever had a bad or poor experience with a NH, you would realize how special Palm Garden is to their residents. Are they perfect? No. But is anyone or anything? No!! I planned a little outdoor birthday party for Aunt Monas 91st birthday. The staff went out of their way to make it perfect. Furnished drinks, birthday plates and napkins, set up chairs and decorated the gazebo. And, 15 of the personnel came out and sang Happy Birthday to her. How special is that? Thanks again.

My dad was transferred to Palm Garden of Pinellas during a very difficult time for us. The staff was friendly, helpful, empathetic and quick to respond to any of our needs. I especially want to thank and commend several staff members for their good care and great customer service. Peggy and Deb were instrumental in getting dad admitted and in getting him settled quickly and comfortably. Deb was so very helpful with directions for driving to and from the facility. Thanks Peggy and Deb! Carol A. was so helpful with dads medications and orders and Gisele was incredibly kind and understanding about our situation. I treasure her great nursing skill and her ability to set us both at ease. Everyone was excellent!

Edit: this place is good, but you must be persistent about your loved one’s care and requires a bit of follow up. They are very responsive once you call the help line to express concerns. Would recommend for those who have family advocates who are involved on a daily basis.

My mother spent the last year of her life in this facility, and was always well taken care of. The management stayed in touch with me to include me in monthly care plan meetings which was very helpful to keep me up to date on her care. Thank you for making her comfortable in the last few months she was with us.

My 90 year old Aunt was transfered to Palm Gardens shortly after falling and breaking her hip and femur. She had been in another rehab facility for a month and the care was not acceptable. She has been there a month and the care is wonderful. She always talks about how nice everyone is to her. Peggy Falls, staff, is amazing. I always feel like they are really concerned about my Aunts welfare. Highly recommended.

My mother-in-law was at palm gardens for 4 weeks and had exceptional care. The entire staff went out of there way to communicate with us on a daily basis since we couldn’t visit due to Covid-19. The supervisor Janice of physical therapy and Pam the case manager were extremely helpful. Although her own doctor did not have privileges at palm gardens the doctor that saw her and the nurse practitioner were wonderful. They answered all our questions and returned our call me promptly. I would not hesitate to recommend palm gardens to others.

Reviews are meant to help others find goods and services they can feel confident in. Its a shame that the Administrator of this facility finds it necessary to ask her staff to post reviews as consumers to change the rating. Hi! My name is Carol Irene Aderholt RN. I became an LPN in 1994 (under my married name Carol Carosone-Aderholt) became an RN in 2001. This can verified by Googling, Florida Nursing License Lookup. ..with my 26 years exclusively working in skilled nursing homes in every level, I feel this qualifies me to give you an accurate account of PGPs product as i also have worked here for roughly a year. i am motivated to give this review to share my 1st hand knowledge and information describing a few ways that this center would be my first choice for my own family member. My work at PGP brings me a great deal of personal satisfaction gained by my contact with our guests their loved ones and the team i work with daily. I serve as a staff nurse and its here that i find this work most rewarding. Its very demanding often unreasonable work at times. I really have to push myself some days as people must also do in many jobs..... Nursing is hard work in all specialities. The clinical care team both staff and agency support eachother at PGP in our common goal of exceptional customer service. We encourage eachother daily as it helps to work in an environment that is positive. Im excited to say without hesitation, this facility has brought me a great deal of personal satisfaction because often people come in very weak and the therapy department working closely with nursing really gets alot done for our guests to get where they need to be. The care delivery in this facility meets and exceeds standards ive seen in other facilities. The staff operate with little need for intervention ......When i tell new admissions and their families you are in the right place, i believe it! The team is kind to each other and the residents are treated as more than their clinical picture/treatment plan or room number. A great deal of effort is placed upon individual and dynamic needs of our guests, the small but important routines that may need to be accounted for to support guests success, while in rehab are important to us. It takes a caring staff including, reception, housekeeping, maintenence, Culinary Services, Social Services, Therapy all equally as vital and the CNAs and Nurses on the front lines because all these departments contribute to our guests overall experience. By working in cooperation with eachother, our guests, and their loved ones, each can achieve the very best experience possible. Its never just a pill or treatment, its usually a dynamic treatment plan including family input, that is most effective. The family members at PGP are extremely involved and this is welcomed with aplomb by staff! We have a number of repeat individuals who wouldnt consider another center. Repeated and satisfied customers reflect success not only to clinical care but also to how the individuals we serve feel, during their time with us. To be the provider of choice means that we dont want to do things the way theyve always been done. This team is always thinking of how we can meet our pts and their families goals when possible and re-adjust if goals might be too ambitious. Open lines of communication are key. At palm Gardens of Pinellas we reach higher, Collaborate more, we consider the people we serve as individuals and treat them as such. i hear repeatedly from families how they are comforted by our caring nature that far exceeds their original expectation. Our clinical team is very proactive in managing un-nessessary returns to acute care by intervening early, listening to families concerns and with physicians who are easily accessable this flows productively.. In summery, I would wholeheartedly recommend Palm Gardens of Pinellas for your loved one or mine, wether i worked here or not. I was not asked to review the center.Sincerely,Carol Aderholt RN

My dad had a terrible experience there. I was able to move him to home hospice despite the doctor there telling me he wasn’t ready to leave. He died peacefully at home a week later. It’s 2019, patients shouldn’t leave there with bed sores. A couple of the nurses and social workers were nice and seemed to care. The aides were at times clueless. One took my dad’s oxygen off to take him to the bathroom. He passed out halfway there. The doctor gets low marks as well. My advice if you have a loved one with a terminal illness, even if it’s going to be a couple of years, check out hospice care. It’s really good. This place is not.

As a former 3-11 LPN Supervisor of this facility, please do your due diligence before placing your Lived one in this facility. I have made multiple attempts since leaving my position to speak with someone at the corporate office about my Myriad of issues with this facility.I was expected to pass medications to 30 patients, complete 2 complete respiratory assessments on all my patients, complete vital signs on every patient, chart medication pass, skilled charting, antibiotic charting, wound care, 2-3 complete admissions and if they weren’t completely done, I would get rude texts fromThe DCS. PLUS SUPERVISE THE STAFF, deal with family issues and all other patient issues.Acquired wounds that administration lies about and says they were there on admission, wrongful termination of employees because the Narcissistic DCS doesn’t like them and lies about investigations. Inappropriate Management meetings where the Management team feels it to be appropriate to make jokes of a sexual nature after a sexual predator was admitted to the facility and the DCS wanted to keep him there. As a custom if sexual abuse, this was incomprehensible to me. Nurses that leave pills laying out on their carts, which were then given to the DCS which she completely ignored and threw in her drawer.Almost 100% turnover of staff since January, Constant Agency in the facility. Open your eyes corporate and get back to your true mission!!

DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! Does not deserve 1 star!! My mom was admitted at 5pm Friday. Over the weekend I called nurses station to ck if shed been assessed. My mom kept saying she HAD NOT been. I was lied to and told she had been. Saw Admissions on Sun at 6pm and said my mom hasnt recvd PT in 48 hrs-Adm sd She mustve been accessed, we dont get paid if she hasnt been. That evening Admin called to confirm several patients HAD NOT been assessed and the PT had been fired. Mon at 11am was told mom had therapy and was tired. This was the first PT in 65 hrs at the facility. Next call was 6pm. Mom was being rushed to the hospital - she had suffered A STROKE!! My very viable mom now can hardly speak. She sd they kept trying to wake her up but but she couldnt say anything. How long had she laid there helpless + 65 hrs of no therapy? Insult to injury..claim mustve immediately been sent to insurance who sent me a notice days later that rehab had been paid! Im disputing the payment and provided all names, dates and times as proof.

My mother has been at this facility more than once, and with each visit I realized just how extraordinary this facility really is. The staff actually listen to family member concerns. Its a team effort to assist the patient. And that team is composed of staff and family members, working together to for the good of the patient. My mothers been to different facilities, and most are adequate, and some are even just plain down right NASTY. The difference at Palm Garden of Pinellas.............the staff. From admissions to social services, I have become so fond of all. If you are looking for a facility for your loved one, please check this one out. It stands apart from the rest.

My husband has been cared for in Palm Garden Pinellas since August 2017. We have felt so blessed by this remarkable staff and those who take care of the building and grounds. Our observations over these months of being with our loved one every day for usually 12 hours of each day is that this organization is constantly looking for ways they can better serve and understand the needs of each client. A constancy of those whose job is to care for clients allows those with dementia to connect with both the CNA staff as well as the RN’s . Let me also compliment the therapy staff whose professional work has been remarkable as observed by my family. You are the successful and progressive recovery of clients with short term or long term therapy needs. Thanks to all and may God continue to be present in all you do to serve the healing needs of others.

Five stars! If you’re looking for a community where your love one this is the plAnd just so you know I had to be a POA for somebody and despite my knowledge of the business there were so many things that I needed help with and they were an Intercal part of our success! The CNAs and nurses on the floor are absolutely amazing. Angela, one of your CNAs, in particular has been an angel sent from heaven. But every nurse ( Christina, Heather, April, and I know I’m leaving someone out ) on the floor has greeted me with a smile and happily given me any information that I needed even when I showed up late evening and might have been “pushy” ! Kelly, a social worker, went way above and beyond what was necessary to help and assist Ruth with getting extended care as well as documents needed to file for her. And Maritza who is one of the directors took my calls at obnoxious hours and aided me and getting Ruth back on track. I assure you I’m not the easiest person to deal with when I’m advocating for anyone and they were all more than tolerable and quite pleasant this is the place to go!

Its not often that a business is so incredible that Im drawn to leave a rave review before service is even completed, but Palm Gardens of Pinellas is so special that Im compelled to share both my experience and the experience of my Grandfather, who is currently (thankfully) in rehabilitation there. My Grandfather was moved to Palm Gardens after two stays in the hospital over the course of a few months. A heart attack aged him dramatically, changing him from a fairly indepentent 97yo into a shell of himself, who could barely stand and needed oxygen 24/7.The first day at Palm Gardens involved meeting nearly every person involved in his care. They quite literally saw me sitting in his room and came in, introduced themselves, and updated us on the plans for his care. I was invited to visit while they worked in rehab and saw a fun lively group that looked more like a party than a workout. Clearly the things they were doing will help in everyday life, but they still make it fun. After rehab we went to lunch, where my Grandfather remarked that everyone seemed to already know his name, after just one day!My Grandfather has been in Palm Garden for a week and a half now and he is already off of oxygen and walking! I thought wed never see him like this again, but the encouragement of the staff has brought him out of his shell and inspired him to work hard in rehab. From Nancy at reception (who has treats for your dog if they come to visit too!), to Janice, Heather and Nilima (who are overseeing my Grandfathers Physical Therapy), to April, Shon, Ada, Jo, Robert and Meritz..(and with apologies to all the others whose names Im missing here!!).... these are the kind of lovely caring people youd want to help your loved one recover from an illness or injury. Without exception this is the kindest, most thoughtful group of people Ive ever met. From working in rehab to time socializing in the dining room and activities in the life enhancement room, the care they provide is clearly multi-faceted and aims to help the whole individual, raising not just the patients energy but also their spirits!Thank you Palm Garden, for taking such good care of my Grandfather and for creating an environment that allows the people who work there to be more like family than just caretakers. Each time I walk through the door I’m met with a smile from each person I come across, and most importantly, GrandDad is so happy there.

Please investigate other facilities. There is inadequate staff and non access to supplies to care for you loved ones. The food is inadequate and non diabetic freindly. There is also a huge bug problem. Staffing is inadequate and I was asked to falsify staffing documents in case state came in. I gave a two week notice when I was uneasy seeing this practice and was retaliated against by the DON tiffiany and Melissa. The claims of course were unfounded and dropped. Melissa is an old CNA and has no experience with management and very unprofessional. Consider this when placing your family here. Multiple tags from the state which is public record. I wish I would have done more research before taking a job here. Please do your research and know you options before placing your family here.

I write this review not out of spite or malice, but of concern. I will also be addressing these concerns first as an employee and then as a patron as I directed many friends to use this companies facilities for their loved ones and they removed them from the facilities within a few months due to ill treatment and poor customer service. I was a manager for about a 10 month period in the Pinellas facility and worked in close coordination with many of the facilities in my district. From the management perspective the person in charge of training gave no direction, brushed the responsibilities off on others, and was constantly condescending in any and all verbal exchanges we had and would not answer most of my written inquiries. I literally signed the form stating they showed me how to follow company protocol just show the manager would quit showing up in my office. I had to rely heavily on the standard operating procedure paperwork and a few of the other managers in other facilities who were kind enough to help me when they could to perform my job. This wasn’t isolated to my department, either. During my employment, I witnessed a turnover rate unparalleled by any company I’ve ever worked for, seeing at least 5 managers come and go. I lost count of the number of nurses and LPNs that quit due to ill treatment on the job. There was also a very big understaffing issue in which they had to use temp agencies just to meet the minimum state standards the entire time I was there. The company even launched a rehiring campaign of employees who had been fired or quit trying to offer them their old jobs back with little added incentive. This company likes to state they follow the “Palm Garden Way/Standard” and unfortunately for many of the residents, this mission statement is not.Now to address this company as a patron. From what I witnessed and my friends told me of the facilities that were not mine that they put their loved ones in, I would never use these facilities. The company advertises a 5 star dining experience encompassed within the Palm Garden Standard mission statement and, again, becomes inexcusable as to what they serve the residents. In regards to the care of the patients, many of the call lights (the lights residents pull when they need assistance) were ignored not just in my facility but in others. As for the medical care in the facilities, I heard more complaints than praise, and as that was not my department I unfortunately cannot go into specifics other than the constant short staff issues comes into play and causes nurses and LPNs to take matters into their own hands. Below I posted links to two news sites with articles addressing two separate instances in this district of what I am referring to (google does not allow links but a quick search will yield the proper results).Channel 8 News: Pinellas Co. LPN arrested for giving patient morphine without prescriptionOrlando Sentinel: Two captured on hidden camera by nursing home patients son arrestedAll this being said, I will conclude my statement with this: As a person seeking employment, there are nursing homes a plenty with much better opportunities out there for you to pursue. As a patron, keep in mind that we are in Florida. There is a plethora of nursing homes to choose from in this state to place your loved ones. Why take a risk?

My lawyer suggested Palm Gardens of Pinellas as the best place for my 83 yr old husb who had early dementia....he also needed phys therapy for his healing broken femur. I had no idea whatsoever he was a sundowner.....after about the second week the three RNs called me over and asked Why do you come here everyday? You need to go get a new life as his brain will only get worse......This was my husb of 42 yrs ....I flew outside and cried a lot. Then a few weeks later the RNs would say to me.....would you get him out of here.......we dont like nursing sundowners........and this kept up until I told my lawyer to get him out of there......very very cold hearted RNs.....not one ever showed him any attention at all. My experience there was heartbreaking as I have no kids and no family and he was my entire life. I would never advise anyone to put their loved on in this home.
