Switched to Coulter Family Dentistry on the recommendation of a friend and have been so happy both times I’ve had my teeth cleaned and checked. They are VERY thorough and do a great job. The office is clean and the staff is so friendly. I’ve been really happy with my visits here!

Ive been once and wont return. I had been a patient at a local dental spa for many years, until his incredibly poor sanitation practices led to the potential of ending up with hepatitis, so I was forced to find another dentist. Im also VERY obsessive about my oral health so Im extremely picky about who I see. I chose Coulter based on their outstanding number of 5 star reviews and unfortunately I dont see why theyre rated so highly.I scheduled my appt, expecting an exam and cleaning, but after I arrived at the office I was told that my first visit was a getting to know you visit only and Id have to make another appt for the exam and cleaning. Very odd- never heard of anything like this before and I was quite unhappy. They fit me in for a quick cleaning after some discussion. I have braces and the hygienist broke one of my brackets didnt say anything to me. I sat up, checked my teeth and realized it was missing. I asked what happened and she said it just cracked during cleaning but your Ortho can fix it. 😳I was told that I have 3 problem areas that are beginning cavities (Ive only had one cavity EVER, in a baby tooth!) and needed to make an appt to have those taken care of. They said I needed a night guard, which cost almost $1000, and even with insurance I still paid almost $100 for a basic cleaning and exam! My copay was $35 so the other $65 mustve been for the wine tumbler and pro grade toothpaste I was given when I left 😂 The office staff called 2 or 3 times after that, requesting that I come back in to have the night guard made!Thankfully I love visiting the dentist and having my teeth cleaned, otherwise I could see how my experience with this office would easily turn someone off from seeing a dentist! Im glad so many others have had such wonderful experiences, but unfortunately I was not one of them, and I cannot recommend this office to anyone. At no point in time would I consider my experience a pleasant one.

After recently moving to Knoxville, my family was on the dreaded hunt for a new dentist. Dr. Coulter and his fabulous team have been great as we’ve transitioned our care. Modern offices and excellent, personalized services were just what we were looking for. 10/10 would recommend.

I’ve been to 3 appointments here so far and I can honestly say for the first time in 10 years, I’m not dreading my next dentist appointment - even though it will involve some pretty significant dental work.Leslie did my deep gum cleaning and she was amazing. My first session, I was super nervous, especially when she brought out the scraping tools. But she is so good with them. I’ve been to other offices where the hygienist jammed my gums and poked and stabbed and it was horrible, but I was so at ease after my right side appointment with Leslie that I wasn’t even nervous for the left side.I hadn’t been to the dentist in a few years and I’ve been judged and lectured at the dentist in the past so I was apprehensive. But no one judged me and everyone I’ve encountered during my appointments so far has done nothing but make me feel super comfortable with the experience.The ladies working the financial side are also very knowledgeable and straight forward. I’ve had experiences in the past where I was told I would pay x amount out of pocket and then after the procedure, that amount was double. At my last 2 appointments here, I actually paid less out of pocket than I was expecting.After my visits here, I feel like I always hated the dentist because I didn’t have a good one. I’ve already referred one person to this office and as long as I live in Knoxville, I will continue to come here for cleanings and any other dental work I need.

I got a tooth implant for one of my molar here. The quality is great and the service was professional. At first I was not sure what to do with my tooth, but the doctor was great at showing me all the available options and prices. The staffs are knowledgeable and the doctor is fantastic. The implant was done with local anesthesia and they are not going to put you to sleep. I felt no pain at all and I can enjoy a tv show while they work. I would recommend this dentistry to anyone especially for simple work and big operations like tooth implant.

Quick to get you in for appointment and flexible if something comes up and you have to move it or be a bit late. The staff is really nice and personable every time I come in. I always have some nice conversations when I visit.

From the time you walk through the door until your appointment is over the Coulter staff is kind and respectful to their patients. Who knew going to the dentist could be so good! I was a bit hesitant to return due to the pandemic but it felt safe. Five stars on google, but ten in my now clean molars!

I have had a cleaning and crown done here and both experiences were great! I used to hate going to the dentist and this practice has changed my mind. The staff are so nice and make a not fun experience a really good one. They made the experience so good for my three year old that she constantly asks when she can go back! My recent dental cleaning with Dr. Coulter was quite amazing. My technician, Leslie, is so gentle and considerate when making your smile silky smooth, shiny and pearly white! The entire staff is so friendly throughout your entire visit. You feel like you’re coming home to family. I was very concerned about what to expect due to the current pandemic we’re all experiencing....I was not surprised, but pleasantly pleased when I saw all the safety protocols in place for the protection of both the guest and the staff working there. I can’t wait to get back on my regular dental schedule and have already booked my next appointment!!

New to Knoxville I needed to find a local dentist, and I hit the jackpot. I’ve been going here for a year and each time I go I have the best, friendly and professional service! Went in for a broken tooth (hadn’t been to the dentist in 20+ years) and regularly go every 3 months now! If you have dentist anxiety they are very accommodating and have TVs to watch on the ceiling during your appointment, whilst always checking to make sure you’re ok. Forrest is my regular hygienist and she is lovely! Now I just have to convince my husband to go... thanks team :)

After having bad experiences with 2 different dentists and avoiding dentists for a long time, I came to Dr. Coulter because his office had the best reviews in Knoxville. They got me in in less than 24 hours after a miserable toothache. The girls there are always so kind and helpful and they even remember me when I come in even though I just started going there at the end of 2020. The office is set up to make you feel more comfortable with tv to watch while you’re having your work done and the chairs have heat and massage settings. I can not praise Dr. Coulter and his staff enough. The best dentist in Knoxville for sure!

You shouldn’t choose this dentist!!! I had a 3-tooth bridge replaced by Coulter. He did a really terrible, horrible job of designing the prosthetic and then cemented it in very sloppily and hastily (this was right before Christmas – he seemed to be in a hurry to leave the office) without getting my feedback or even agreement so that I would be stuck with it or have to go through having it cut out again. After I complained about this and told him that because of his behavior I would not return, he also would not refund the money (over $3000) spent for the bridge (I had to pay for someone else to redo the poorly done work afterwards). He never even called me to discuss the problem. I was very disappointed with the work that was done by this dentist and would never go back here again, nor would I recommend him to anyone else. He made my life a living hell for 4 months since I was in constant pain and couldn’t chew right on that side. It felt like Coulter really didn’t care about me as a patient – just for the money. Don’t believe the really high star reviews for this office if you don’t want to live with pain.

Year and half late means for an honest review right? Everything went smoothly for my past 3 visits and meant to leave a review after my latest which was like 4 or 5 fillings, not even sure the number. All was taken care of quickly with very little pain following it. I am starting to have another issue that popped up which reminded me I need to leave this review. There was no push for continued appoints just asked if you would like to set up one. Couldnt ask for better service.

Not sure how this guy has this many 5 star reviews, but it sold me, so I went to get my teeth cleaned... or so I thought.Over the course of 1+ hours the scanned my teeth, took plenty of photos then tried to give me a hard sell on a sleep apnea study. I was dismissive, but was strongly encouraged to watch a video on it while the dentist watched me watch the video. It was pretty awkward. Then he asked me about the sleep study AGAIN! He was a little less friendly after I declined for a second time.After this hard sell, he said I was “all done,” BUT HE DIDNT EVEN CLEAN MY TEETH. I needed a second appointment, which is contrary to what is posted on the website. I suspect Mr Coulter wanted another chance at the hard sell. Regardless of the reasoning, I don’t have time to make multiple trips to get my teeth cleaned.I cannot be the first person to have this experience, so be very wary of the google ratings. Think it probably speaks to the character of the place

For a little background, I have a horrible phobia of dentists, to the point of needing medication just to get a teeth cleaning.When I spoke with one of Dr. Coulter’s nurses, I was greeted with kindness and understanding. They asked if I could schedule a sit-down with them to explain why I have a phobia, and what they could do to help me. When I went, they greeted me by name as soon as I walked in, brought me to a private room and just asked about me. Then Dr. Coulter came in, sat down, gave me some info about him, his practice, and what he would do to help me.We scheduled a teeth cleaning first, before any cavity work and tooth extraction would take place. The nurse doing the cleaning was gentle, and told me everything she was doing, and what each tool did before she used it. She even played The Office for me to watch as she worked, to keep my mind occupied. Dr. Coulter popped in to ask how I was doing, and told me to hang in there. I know it sounds childish, but honestly, my phobia is that bad.Once we finished, we got my other appointments set up. I was offered laughing gas to help ease me before each session. All the while Dr. Coulter was working, his nurse would pat my shoulder and tell me I’m doing great. Every time I needed to call them, or stop by for something, I’m always greeted with a smile and by my name.If I call the office to leave a message after closing, I’ll get a call right when they open, asking if I’m okay. The atmosphere of the office itself feels like walking into a day spa. There’s soft music playing, eucalyptus smells instead of dental fluoride, soft lighting and state of the art tech to make sure no matter what I’m getting done, whether it be an X-ray, or bite mold, I am comfortable and calm.I can not recommend this place enough. They go so far above and beyond for me, that the last couple of visits I had, I didn’t even use the gas! My anxiety and phobia was practically gone, and I’ve lived with that nightmare for over 20 years. Not only do they have me taking much better care of my mouth, but have fixed every problem I had to where I’m not self conscious about my smile!5/5 stars, all my praise, all my love. Thank you Dr. Coulter and staff, for helping me out and treating me with dignity and respect!

I’ve always had bad experiences with dentists so the astounding reviews for this place made me so excited to find such a great dentist. I didn’t even mind that my insurance didn’t qualify, I was willing to pay full price for their services!When I made my appointment yesterday for today, I asked what the COVID protocol was. Full PPE, room ventilation every 6 minutes, masks required. Nice, okay!!When I showed up, no employees were wearing masks. They were walking around without them, although around their necks. When other patients came out, they put masks on. No PPE in sight. I was crushed that I came all the way here expecting to be taken care of in such a secure manner only to be disappointed. I couldn’t bear the risks so I left.If you don’t believe in the severity of COVID or maintaining safety practices, I suppose this is the place for you. For others who are like me, I recommend not going.

Everyone is extremely nice and very professional. I had quite a bit of work done and never had one issue. The are all easy to work with, kind, and understanding.They have awesome amenities like TV’s above the chair, not to mention the chair has a massage feature so you can set back and relax and wait for the numbness to take affect.After the work I have had no issues with any of the teeth I had work on, Dr. Coulter did such a good job that my own Mother who has been a dental assistant for 25-30 years can’t even tell which teeth had work done he really is that good.

Everyone at the office is so friendly! Dr. Coulter is great too and super nice. I love how quick the dentists are, and they’re gentle on my teeth. I recommend this practice a thousand times over. I actually don’t mind going to the dentist now! The office is swanky too, which helps 😜

Found this place when I was looking for a new dentist when I came to grad school. Only got to go a couple of times, but I had a great experience! The staff are so friendly and Dr. Coulter was always great. Would definitely recommend giving them a try!

This is the best dentist I have ever been to! The office is immaculate and inviting, Lesley is a phenomenal hygienist, and Dr. Coulter really knows his stuff. You can really tell everyone there takes a lot of pride in their work. Our whole family loves it!

Coulter Family Denistry was a great option when I moved to Knoxville and needed a new dentist. The office is clean and up to date, there’s even TVs in the rooms so patients can watch TV or listen to music while they are getting their teeth cleaned. Leslie did a fantastic job cleaning my teeth, was gentle, and extremely nice! Dr. Coulter was friendly and informative when explaining the X-rays, etc. I have had bad experiences with dentists before and this was by far the best place I have been to!

I am a huge fan of Coulter Family Dentistry. Ive been a patient for about 2 years and have only had terrific experiences. My hygienist, Forrest, is amazing and Dr. Coulter is so nice. They have always expressed genuine care & concern for whatever I needed! Wonderful office atmosphere for reasonably priced dental care.

This Dentistry is very professional, friendly, and they get the work that needs to be done, done!!! I also have a great time watching New Girl on Netflix with my dentist!

When I started here almost a year ago, I WAS TERRIFIED. I had two bad dentist experiences that left me scared but than the team here changed the game. When I got here they didn’t even touch my mouth. They asked about my trauma and offered medical assistance to calm me during my first cleaning. Mind you I hadn’t gone to the dentist in over a decade. This team cares for you, caters to you, supports you! Let’s just say I convinced my fiancé to come here and I will never switch dentists. Dr Coulter is stern yet supportive in your treatment. I would bet my entire home in this practice.

He is probably one of the worst dentists Ive ever been to. He tried to bill me before the treatment. He seemed biased, which is illegal in healthcare industry. Stay away from this person. He has a very tiny clinic. If you are a person with claustrophobia, you might have a panic attack in one of his treatment rooms.

I had a wonderful experience! After calling several dentist offices in pain, this was the ONLY one to work diligently to get me in as soon as possible. They considered the pain that I was in. I’m very thankful for that. I read the reviews before my appointment, and I feel like they live up to all of the positive hype! The doctor took his time explaining things, and I never felt rushed. I enjoyed my experience, and am happy to consider Coulter Family Dentistry my new dentist.

My experience with Dr. Coulter and his staff was amazing! Having “taken a break” from the dentist for a few years, they welcomed me as a new patient. When it turned out I needed some fillings due to my absence, they were accommodating and extremely helpful! They even called to try to move my appointment up when an opening became available. 5 stars isn’t enough!!

Dentists are my number one fear but after finally dragging myself into Dr. Coulter’s office, I can say that I’m much less afraid. Everyone is so gentle and patient with me and Dr. Coulter is wonderful! So happy to have found a dentist that I love!
