NOT your traditional eye doctor experience! The last time I went to an optometrist was 9 years ago when I got my first (and last) pair of glasses. Since Ive been having headaches and straining to see things clearly, I decided to come to the Fort Collins location for eye care. Honest opinions only on here: Wow, was I impressed. They are well-educated, proactive in their research and findings, and... they make you feel very comfortable. It was a non-invasive exam that made complete sense to me once they provided my results. Why Im having headaches and why my eyes strain all the time finally had answers. I couldnt be more thrilled to call this spot my eye care home from here on out! Thank you Dr. Munson and Brandon for seeing 😉 to it that my eyes are being thoroughly taken care of!

Fort Collins Family Eye Care is a saving grace! I have had glasses for years but the last 2-3 years it never felt like my prescription was right. After just ONE appointment with the FCFEC team I was able to get more answers about my eyes and why my prescription wasn’t working for my eyes! I was able to get new glasses in a fast and easy process during my appointment, and see my eyes improve in a short amount of time. I would HIGHLY recommend Fort Collins Family Eye Care to anyone!

I went in with my three kids, (all under the age of 12) and they were able to get them scheduled together, and worked with my availability. Prior to the appointment, Dr. Munson called and introduced herself, and explained briefly what the appointment was going to be like. They worked well with my kids, spent time teaching all of us about the process, and treatment, and are super friendly. We were able to order glasses for my kids right after the appointment, so its super convenient. Thank you guys for taking care of my kiddos.

I usually dont leave reviews but I have about had it with this pratice. First, they billed the wrong insurance and told me I owed over $400 for an eye exam and contact fitting. After calling my insurance myself they informed me that they never billed the right insurance. I called the eye Dr multiple times over 3 weeks and they always said they would give me a call back the next day when they got more information and never did call back. I kept having to call and now I only have two weeks until they send me to collections. Second, the whole appointment Dr Munson was saying she would order me the Neuro lenses to wear over my contacts, then when the glasses arrived I was shocked to find out she ordered my full prescription glasses. Which is not what she said she would order nor what I wanted from the get go. Third, everytime I would call to check on my bill the woman who answered acting like me calling was the most annoying thing in the world and was very rude.Anyway this place is extremely expensive and will try and get all the money out of you.The only reason I didnt give them 1 star was because the Dr recognized that I am a struggling 22 year old and gave me a 20% discount on services.EDIT: After their response over a week ago I have yet to receive a phone call. As expected.

I didn’t even plan to write a review until I saw that so many others were dealing with the nonsense this place makes you go through. They have you do a bunch of dubious diagnostics that I’m sure by now they know most insurances won’t cover; leaving you with the bill. They’ll also try to sell you on a bunch of random prescriptions that you more than likely don’t need and that your insurance also won’t cover. The killer for me was that an error was done while I was checking in where the person (who was really nice) had billed my primary insurance and not who I had my vision insurance with. I find out a few months later when I receive a text that I owe a few hundred dollars. I called in and the person on the phone (who was also really nice), understood and explained how this all happened, and after a back and forth with my insurance said he would just write it off. A couple months later and I get a notice to pay the amount or it was going to collections. When calling back in they said to pay it and to work with my insurance; that it shouldn’t be too hard. Ultimately, my insurance couldn’t do anything because of a technicality in billing; footing me with a bill that should have been covered to begin with. So much for supporting local. You’re better off just going to LensCrafters or some other chain than dealing with this BS. I recommend others to file a report with the Colorado State Board of Optometry.

I walked in for an eye appointment and needed an eye glass and contact prescriptions. We are new to the area, and this was a recommendation from a friend. I was in the chair when they told me the cost and I questioned it, even though when I made the appointment and filled out the paperwork they knew exactly what I needed and wanted, two prescriptions that are updated every year.We are a young family on a budget with great insurance that wanted to get a standard eye exam. They refused to give us that. Even after I talked to my insurance company about a contact exam being covered on an annual basis, the doctors office refused to give me a prescription for contacts based on a standard test. They wanted to run additional tests not covered, and wouldnt budge even after I had insurance prove they were not needed. They wanted over $100 in additional testing. In the end, I walked away with only a glasses prescription and have to wait another YEAR until an annual appointment with a doctor who will actually perform a standard exam. Contacts are essential, so I will need to pay out of pocket somewhere else for another appointment. I have been wearing contacts ever since I can remember and have never had this happen.Above all, they had machines that didnt work. They didnt offer to check my glasses, it was only after I put them on that they questioned they should probably do something with them. The other thing is the medical assistant didnt introduce herself, and didnt ask if it was okay if someone else stayed in the room during the appointment. I wouldnt have cared, but she didnt even acknowledge the extra person and it was super strange. She had a random second person in the room with me (I assume a student) and when the doctor came in to look at my eyes the doctor kept calling her over to look at things in my eye. It felt like I was being examined and a case study, not a patient. No bedside manner at all.If you are high risk, Im sure this is a great place for you. If you are thinking about obtaining standard eye care and dont have any complications, youre going to get talked into more than you need at this place. Just overall felt like a used car salesman type situation where I couldnt trust anything that was being said.I just had my first little one and the doctor tried to talk me into an eye appointment for my daughter, Lasik surgery, a nutrition consultation, and obviously extra testing for contacts to obtain a prescription. I was floored that they clearly didnt even finish the job of giving me standard care and were trying to talk me into more things.I love local and small businesses. I love females who dominate the work force. I wanted this place to work so badly, but I want to share my story so that others are aware before making appointments, since I didnt know what I was walking into.

Dr. Munson is brilliant and I feel confident entrusting she and her team with supporting my eye health. There aren’t many other providers using this level of technology, and having those opportunities made a significant difference for me in my treatment! Since using neurolenses, my life has changed dramatically; I have reduced muscle tension, back/neck/shoulder pain, headaches, fatigue, dry eye, and I can tolerate the strain of online schooling. I had no idea that for years I’d been suffering unnecessarily from issues related to my eyes that were having widespread impact on the rest of my body and my life.It still feels unreal to me how quickly it made a difference and I can’t imagine life without my glasses now. My concerns with this practice have everything to do with how I was treated today. The front staff was very nice and I was grateful for all of the multiple different tests that were performed on my eyes. But, that being said, I asked on the phone before the visit if my visit would be free to make sure I would not have to pay because my insurance is out of state. I was told that yes it would be. But, when I got there there was a custom optics evaluation done and charged me $52. I had no idea that this wasnt a choice and no one told me before this day that I was going to have to pay for this. I made it very clear that I was a student struggling to make ends meet and just needed my eyes looked at. My glasses were also taken from me during this appointment and tightened, which I did not ask for and now they are so stiff I cant open them and they are giving me headaches hours later. Not only did they try to sell me a ton of products, which I cannot afford, but the doctor proceeded to tell me I need to get off of all birth control methods and that the natural family planning method would be best to avoid all those toxins that Im putting into my body...also mentioned religion at one point which made me feel so uncomfortable! Not only is it extremely unprofessional to share your beliefs in an eye doctors appointment, but to push religion on someone because of their method of birth control is just wrong. Natural family planning has a failure rate of 25% and I do not want to go through an abortion because of a suggestion from an eye doctor to improve my eye moisture.. Nor do I want to pray or have children for multiple reasons. Which is why I am choosing to protect myself. My appointment took about one and a half hours to complete and I left with a eyelid cleaner. Do yourself a favor: go to another eye doctors and save yourself the money and time.

My experience here was terrible. My first appointment which was for my annual eye exam and contact lens fitting went fine except when it came to ordering my new contacts at the front desk. At that time one of the women at the front desk notified me that the brand I was getting was no longer being produced and they wouldnt be able to order them there. The doctor came out and said, Oh, yea I forgot. She then decided it would be better to switch brands but I would need to come back to get a new fitting. I came back, got the new fitting and new contacts ordered through them. I then received a call two weeks later asking if I wanted to pay the bill for my second visit. Ive been going to an eye doctor for the past 17 years to renew my contacts and Ive never been asked to come back for a second visit, let alone pay a second time. I will never go back here. I felt like someone getting cheated by a shady auto mechanic, pretty sad when youre talking about a doctor. Again, this is just my personal experience.

This is the most disappointing eye care experience I ever had. If I could rate them a zero I would! They are really out to pick your pocket for every single penny they can squeeze out of you. I have had eyeglasses for 40 years and never been so upset with the service I received. Let me also say that when i went i could no longer see out of my glasses due to a flaking of the coating. They failed to give me my prescription although I asked for it and when another optical center called to get my script to repair my current glasses still under warranty they refused to even respond to their requests. So after repeated requests by myself for my eyeglass prescription and at least 2 arguments on the phone I reported them to the FTC. Suddenly my prescription was now available and was sent to me via email. I actually had ordered eyeglasses from them and was told it was going to be 1 week. A full month later they arrived. So this experience left me a full month without clear vision, cost me hundreds of dollars, they wanted hundreds more for treatments I know I dont need, and then they have the nerve to send me an email telling me I still owe them $2!! And they say they will send me to collection for it. Like I said they are out to get every single penny they can out of you. I would at the very least think after all they put me through they would not hound me for $2. So this is my VERY public reply to your nasty email. You should have left me alone. (I see your reply has nothing to do with how crappy I was treated by your office and tries to imply some computer system delay caused my prescription to be withheld from me for weeks. That is untrue and illegal. That prescription belonged to me immediately. And your office was well aware that my current glasses were unusable and under warranty elsewhere. You caused me extreme hassles at every turn and failed at your most basic services then billed me for an additional $2.25. Your check is the mail lady.)

I was not told that Dr. Batman had retired upon my scheduling of the appointment, nor was I told at my arrival - I conveniently asked and was then told that a new doctor had taken over. This should have been disclosed to me. I was taken back to the exam rooms and I was given a few tests. The doctor came into the room and tried to sell me numerous things, while evaluating my eye health for less than 2-3 minutes. She tried to sell me vision therapy, multiple eye cleanings, dry eye products (and other), new glasses, eyelash extensions, lash pads, and vitamins. Slipped in parts of the exam they knew insurance wouldnt pay for and I couldnt tell you why the exorbitant cost for the contacts themselves. Outrageous! They claim to be transparent about these extra charges up front but slipped them by my naive young daughter. Criminal. Go elsewhere. They apparently delete bad reviews on their website and fb page.

I cannot cannot say enough about Dr. Munson and her team that would properly express my gratitude! I was a new patient and having not been to the eye doctor in years I was a bit apprehensive at first, but from be moment I walked in the door I was at ease. The team was the most professional and hospitable health care team I have ever experienced. They have awesome technology which was hard for me to understand at first, but both Dr. Munson, and another team member took extra time walking me through my individualized treatment plan. I am also young so I love their preventative approach and Dr. Munson’s excitement for getting out and serving the community! I have already recommended them to my entire family!

Dr. Munson and her staff are very professional and caring. The eye exam was thorough yet painless (especially the part where you have to choose which set of letters looks better). Dr. Munson loves caring for eyes and thats what I want in my eye doc.

I had been a patient of Dr. Bateman for 35 years. So you can imagine the trepidation I felt when he retired. To my delight, Dr. Munson and her staff are just what I need at this stage in my life. New, thorough, latest technology testing to monitor my eye health, excellent staff, and a welcoming office environment. Change can be difficult, but I am quite pleased with the new opportunities I have been presented with. A definite recommendation.

I have been through many different eye care providers as well as other doctors and Dr. munson was the first one who I felt actually cared about me and wanted to get down to the root cause of my symptoms. Dr. Munson has absolutely saved my life. Truly! I have recommended Dr. Munson to everyone I know. The advanced technology she offers at her office has saved my eyes! The wellness Heros at the office make you feel like youre family. For the first time in my life I actually look forward to going to the doctor.

As a millennial, i found Ft Collins Family Eyecare to be a breath of fresh air. Finally an eye doctor in this town that knows their stuff and I don’t feel like I’m getting an eye exam from the 19th century. From the check in process through the exam, to check out- it was a streamless, clear process. You can tell they’re trying to do things right every step of the way and, well, that’s what I expect out of where I spend my money.

It is all about the money from the time you are checking in, during your exam, and while you are checking out. Although I paid for an exam, the focus of time was on selling me more tests, selling me more services. I felt the focus of the exam was on selling extras instead of the exam I paid for.

I have severe Meibomian gland disease (2-3 oil producing nubs left in each eye out of 20-40 per lid in a normal eye) and Dry Eye Syndrome. Fort Collins Family Eye Care has state of the art equipment that accurately diagnoses and monitors my condition/progress. The staff is well-trained and knowledgeable in all procedures and so friendly they make you feel like part of the family. Dr. Munson is continually researching new technologies and treatments in the care of my disease and has even created a new tool for removing plaque buildup on lids. She is intelligent and innovative. Dr. Munson is kind, compassionate, and a good listener. I never feel rushed and she takes the time to answer all my questions. She is always looking for ways to improve my comfort level and new combinations of treatments to get the most production out of the glands I have left. Before coming to The Fort Collins Family Eye Clinic, I could not have the air blowing in the front seat of the car, could not have the windows down while riding in the car, could not have a ceiling fan on, could not sit out at a football game if the wind was blowing, could not ride a bike, and the list goes on and on. My eyes were either continually watering or so dry I could barely open them. I’m thrilled to say I can now do all of these things with minimal to no symptoms or discomfort thanks to the care of Dr. Munson and her team!

Dr. Munson saved my son from eye surgery. My son has esotropia. We have Kaiser insurance. Until we found Dr Munson through word-of-mouth, we have been seeing a highly respected pediatric opthomology specialist through our insurance. Our opthomologist guaranteed that we would need eye surgery for our toddler. As a parent, I was devastated and desperately looking for alternatives. None were offered or even mentioned by our opthomologist. We had also been told there is a “window of time” that is optimal for eye surgery - the younger the better for success.During this time I found Dr Munson. We have only been undertaking Vision Therapy for less than a month now, and my son’s eyes have already straightened out! His actual eyesight has improved as well. We had a follow up appointment with the pro-surgery opthomology doctor, who just confirmed that Owen no longer needs eye surgery. UNBELIEVABLE. It is a tragedy that Vision Therapy is currently not covered by insurance. It is expensive, but not nearly as expensive as the multiple surgeries that aren’t even guaranteed to fix the problem. Saved my son the terrible pain of that - as a parent, that alone is priceless. To say that we are impressed and pleased would be the understatement of the year. I hold a Masters of Healthcare Administration and I am not mystified by doctors in any way nor do I automatically assume the doctor is right. I demand the best of my medical professionals and I will tell you, every once in a while, you’ll stumble upon someone who has a true calling for the field. Dr. Munson is one of those.

I am a teacher in the Poudre School District. I would like to share a letter that I wrote to my sons teachers after seeing Fort Collins Family Eye Care. Dr. Munson is truly an angel...Dear Denise and Katey-I wanted to CELEBRATE some great news with you two. Both of you cared so much about Levi and his reading and always knew that something wasn’t quite “right.” Well, we have finally figured it out. When Levi saw the optometrist in second grade, he demonstrated perfect vision and eyes that worked together. We decided that his reading “issues” will eventually right themselves. At the end of 4th grade, they had not.Denise, your recommendation to see an eye specialist has been life changing for Levi. We went to see Dr. Munson at Fort Collins Family Eye Care and went through 2 hours of testing. Dr. Munson and her team were amazing and we have discovered that Levis eyes are out of alignment. Essentially, he is pigeoned-toed with his eyes resting slightly outward. That means, every time he goes to read, he must literally move both eyeballs inward for correct positioning. This movement makes tracking very difficult as well as writing. This also has caused immense eye fatigue every day. Without extensive testing, we would have never known.Levi will be wearing special lenses that are designed to relax his eyes and train them to move inward. We feel very confident that this will help solve his issue. It will be a journey but, we are thrilled to have a direction (especially before middle school!).For my self professionally, I have learned so much. I never knew that someone like Dr. Munson and her practice even existed. Katey was dead on with having Levi see an optometrist in second grade. It showed that he had no tracking issues but we all knew something wasn’t quite working like it should (I do say this and also know, that many kids develop reading skills later than some. Often, time and reading intervention is what’s needed). Although, when we have this feeling as a parent of a teacher that something isn’t quite right, now I know to recommend an optometry practice such as Dr. Munson. If she see’s everything is just fine, great! But, if not, that child can be saved years of struggle.
