The Surgery itself went fine but I wouldnt suggest going here if you want to keep your appointment at the time it was initially scheduled for. If you have children and need to plan for a sitter its about impossible until the day of your surgery because they will call and reschedule you for whatever time they want and cancel it all together if you cannot make the time they have rescheduled you for. Also have to pay in cash because thats all they accept which is a very strange business practice and seems sketchy at best. No one cares about you or the pain that your in before surgery, its all about whats most convenient for them. If you have cash and time to bend over backwards in order for these people to do their job then ya sure give them a call!Update: Also, if the dentist doesnt like what youve written in a review about his practice, he will refuse to do the surgery when you arrive for your appointment and not even have the decency to let you know before you drive 50 minutes to be there and your ride there takes a day off of work for absolutely no reason! How very professional. Just like referring to me as Karen, twice in your response. Ill just continue to be in pain because the dentist and staff have hurt feelings over my legitimate complaints. Its fine, seems fair right?!

I was told my reg dentist to have a decaying wisdom tooth removed. I waited for over a year due to fear. The process wasn’t bad. The shot is kinda painful but you numb instantly afterwards. I ended up having my top and bottom wisdom tooth removed on the left side and it was so fast. I was more afraid due to anxiety of having teeth pulled but overall I would recommend this office and surgeon. Thank u.

I had to go back 2 1/2 years later after my wisdom teeth surgery because the back of my gums get swollen and hurt every once in awhile. Me and my mother got there at 12:50, appointment at 1:00. We sat there for 2 hours because they over booked too many appointments. We finally saw him, THE ABSOLUTE RUDEST DR I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. He shouldn’t be a dr if he doesn’t have the compassion or sympathy for others. He told us in a ‘I don’t care about you’ attitude, that our insurance won’t cover anything and that it was expensive. The audacity of this man. Definitely will not be going back to this a**hole after this.

Really grateful and impressed! All of the staff was very nice, I had a wisdom tooth that was causing me migraines and they were able to fit me in to get it removed the same day I had a consultation. Dr Lawhon was obviously very busy but still had a great bedside manor and was gentle and explained everything as he went along. Pricing was fair and straightforward, Dr. Lawhon and staff all seemed trustworthy and honest.

I had 4 of my wisdom teeth removed here at Dr. Mark Lawhon’s office on June 30, 2021 at 8 am. About two days after the extraction (without all the gauze and being on so much medication) I realize that I had an extremely sharp object in my mouth around the back molars protruding out of my gums. Which made it very difficult to eat and would cut up my tongue to the point of where it was bleeding and was sore. After realizing this, I called Dr. Lawhons office multiple times and eventually got through to be told the news of them not being open for a week but I could be seen that next Monday July 12, 2021 for my discomfort. After coming in that Monday July 12, 2021 and Dr. Lawhon acknowledging the problem and the pain I was in, I was still told that they were booked until the following Monday July 19, 2021 at 2:45. I was scheduled July 19th for a minor surgery that I was told was going to take 10 minutes. (Dr. Lawhon told me he would numb me and remove the bone that was protruding out my gums). I was placed on a list where if anyone canceled before Monday July 19 that I would take their place. I left Dr. Lawhons office after my appointment which was at 1:30. I received a call at 2:11pm (same day) that I could come in on the following day July 13 and receive the service I need to remove the discomfort I’ve been experiencing for about 11days as of July 13. Apparently there was some kind of miscommunication between the people that make the phone calls and the people that work in the office because once I arrived on July 13 at 2:30 I was told I would not be receiving my surgery today and I would continue to have to be in pain. I just wish the experience was better. The staff and the doctor are extremely nice and friendly but that doesn’t matter at the end of the day if the patient doesn’t feel taken care of. I was in pain, my pain was recognized, and was basically ignored until they felt like it. I am thankful for him not charging me for a problem he created though. As far as the actual wisdom teeth removal and ignoring everything else Dr. Lawhon did an amazing job.

You will see neg reviews on here about the staff but they have a hard job dealing with lots of people in pain everyday and trying to work everybody in as quickly as possible. No doubt a surgeon, but a surgeon with an unorganized unprofessionalcrew. Overbooks appointments, reschedules you at last minute after you have gone thru trouble making sure you have help to and from there, leaves you sitting for hours with an appointment and in my case went in 12:15 and at 6:45, in dentist chair area, assistant comes in says Dr has left leaving me and an elderly woman in chair both still in pain. No apologies, rude after receiving complaints about being waiting so long then left. that should have been expected. then go thru a hassle getting money back. Strongly reccomend you go elsewhere. Nothing in their response contradicts whats said above. Thats how it happened and nothing in the lengthy, angry response gives any explanation.

I will make this short and simple ....i was in a lot of pain on a Thursday . I called every dentist in the book . Nobody would see me until Monday morning with an appointment. I contacted someone through Dr. Mark Lawhon‘s office . I was told if I did not mind waiting that he would fit me in.That he was booked (Now folks how nice is that ? For a Doctor to stay longer away from his family to help one out ) . The pain that I was in was worth the wait of sitting for hours instead of days if i had to . But the thing was, I only waited 30 minutes. I seen Dr. Lawhon, and was told my situation. As we began the procedure, I could not handle the pain. He then stopped immediately because his words was: I do not want to hurt you. We scheduled for surgery, and the fees that was asked of me, I got my fees up and i paid . He was doing everything in his power to take me out of pain and fix my situation and my job was to pay him for his work . Simple as that. My surgery went well, I have seen him two times since my surgery. And Very well pleased with each visit. Also, the staff was very kind and showed compassionate care for me .Especially Stephanie . Those girls worked with me on appointments and anything that I needed. They all stay late almost every night to help patients like you and me..Thanks to all that works there from me and my husband

He doesnt see black ,white, any color, not even the color green of money. He treats everyone the same. He takes time explain everything from start to finish and I love that.I love how the staff will call you after the procedure just to make sure you are okay.Front staff always with a big smile. The nurses are great I like how they dont get upset when you ask questions. Youre given paperwork on what to do before and after surgery. I had my paper and they knew I was given instructions. When I called and ask what to eat, do, or dont do they didnt say well maam you have your paper refer to that. They answered every question with no problem no hostility .They make you feel so comfortable and not like youre aggravating them. Also the facility is so clean and decorated so beautiful. I feel if its clean from parking lot thru the entire office theyre going to use clean sterilize tools on me and my family. Not something dirty nasty. I can go on and on about how great everyone is but if your looking for a great oral surgeon see Dr. Mark . From me being a patient, mother of patients, and if every need it grandmother of patients. Leaving this review from my husbands appointment but my last 4.5 months of tracking down payments for refunds. Treatment was satisfactory . Paid up front and I had a credit and took me 4.5 months to get my money. They told me about not getting checks and having them reissued I called each week and also called the insurance company, for some reason they still get paper checks. They lost insurance payments multiple times which resulted in payment having to be re issued from insurance company. Also they told me that they had no record or receiving insurance payment when it had been cashed by them . Finally got refunded today and it was short by the exact amount of what my 1st refund was to be said that it was service charge of 3% for using debit card and charge for a surgical tray funny how both charges added up to what the 1st refund should have been but in checking the 3% doesn’t add up to any of the charges. Very unorganized and office manager did call me back and is to check on things and get back to me. I would never go back. Beyond unsatisfied and would not recommend this office to anyone ever!!!!! If I had not stayed on top of my money I would have never received it I am confident of that!!!! Hopefully I will get the balance without excuses. Having to pay for the surgical tray should be included in the charge of extraction. I will be verifying this with my insurance company. So I did call insurance company and they agree the tray would be included in the cost of the extraction. In response to your response no one has worked harder on this then I have and the 3% still does not add up to any of the charges. My husband was flying out the next day and had to have this done but it was way before 4:30 his appointment was at 8 and receipts he pay one was at 8:42 and the other at 9:51.With you being in network and accepting assignment the insurance company will not send me the check. I asked the to do so that I could hand deliver them so you could post them and I would get my refund.Surgical tray should be a fee included in the cost of surgery it is not an added charge.Stephanie, you Anna and Kristie seem to only help me and work on this when I called each time and I always had to call the insurance company first to find out if you had gotten the checks. The day I called knowing that you had cashed the checks you still did not show it posted to his account that is not how insurance is handled.

He gave me three options for my tooth. I decided to take it out and he didnt hurt me one bit. He asked me a thousand times was I hurting but he has the tooth out in a couple of minutes and I didnt know he was finished. As I waited in the waiting room I checked him out on Google. The reason I gave him a review is because they did what they said and didnt hide anything. Told me everything up front. Some of these reviews seem off compared to what my visit. Was taken to the back, x rayed, then sat again for a very long time. When Dr came in for consultation, he was very rushed and seemed uncaring of patients, just get it done quick attitude. Talks down on other dentists in the area, which is unprofessional. Then, I was going to be charged another $300+ to have 1 tooth extraction, even though my insurance covers 80% of my costs. This Dr seems very greedy, and unconcerned for his patience. And policy has it that you can not receive your records same day. You have to wait 14-28 days for them to be mailed. I could not let this snake try to slither any more of my hard earned cash out into his greedy pocket.

I was a little skeptical at first. I wasnt comfortable at the first visit for my son, for my own personal reasons, and things didnt go the smoothest with communications between the surgeons office, the dentist, and the imaging facility. I see others talked about a bad experience but we didnt have any insurance issues and the communication issues were nothing that a follow up call from any office didnt clear up. I said what the other office needed and it was taken care of. Im sure I had an attitude with them about this because I was not feeling well and was annoyed that I had to straighten things out at times but they remained professional. My apologies if I was rude. However, that 2nd visit made me give 5 stars. Dr. Lawhon made sure I understood everything that was going on with my son. He actually cared about the safety of my child and his well being. He gave me good advice on what would be the best course of action to take. He was honest with me about what could happen in all scenarios, risky or not. Im always nervous about making sure I make the right decision for my kids since I took medications that were eventually linked to Autism when I was pregnant with my twins. I kept asking if the medications were safe and was told yes, although months later they were deemed not safe. Now I research but it this case research didnt help so I needed a surgeon I could trust. I generally dont feel that most doctors have anyones best interests at heart since my twins ended up being Autistic and some experiences Ive had with my care in the past 2 years. So thats why this is a big deal to me, although it might not be to others. Anyways, anyone that is truly concerned about my child and helps me to sleep better at night because I can trust him is #1 in my book. I made the right choice taking my son here.

This is my personal review and my opinion. This is how I felt today when going to visit this oral surgeon. He was very nice and explained everything.Went in at 2:30 for a 3:00 appointment. Seen him around 4:50pm or so. Was informed that i would need to have a hole from wisdom tooth removal cleaned out and a bone shaved down. It would be over $700 that I would pay and also $130 for consultation fee that had to pay and insurance would give me back some of my money. They then notify me that it will be at least a 2 hour wait and he have 7 surgeries in front of mine. He also will not been in the office Thursday, Friday, or all next week. As I sit there I realize it is already after 5. I don’t wont someone who is rushing through all the procedures to work on my mouth bc honestly I’m already struggling with pain and issues and I just want it fixed. I ask for a cancellation of the money I paid. They cancelled with no problems except for the $130. I ask them why did you schedule me for a consult if he is going out of town I could have took this time to see someone else and what If I have complications. I am informed they don’t know what the consults are for ( which I told them on the phone). Why would you see all these new patients perform procedures on them and leave town??? I had a horrible experience and lost money that I didn’t have to loose. Why kick someone who is already having trouble? I could have went to someone else. You can see the person handling the situations by reading the horrible responses to people’s negative reviews. That’s the same type of attitude I received today. Can’t imagine how people sleep at night. I’m in the healthcare field and would never be able to do this to someone.Response to whoever runs this offices page:Why are you diverting the issues on another professional. Who pulled out my teeth had nothing to do with the actions of your office (first step is admitting you have a problem) Post op complications can happen to anyone. I can’t tell from you responses if you are psychotic or just that horrible at customer service. Either way your responses speak for themselves. They way you speak on here is anything but professional. I actually had an appointment that I cancelled bc y’all were closer to my work. Your office didn’t know any of that. That was a lie that you told. I didn’t leave his office until 6pm and you still had a waiting room full of patients upset at the wait time. I don’t think my patience was the problem considering I was there for 4 hours.Today I went to Camden oral surgery & implant center ( have offices in Camden, Columbia, and orangeburg). Saw Dr. Clary and he fixed my problem in 20 minutes. It cost me $88 instead of $700. They are an amazing group of people so save your self time, money, and heart ache. I had a horrendous experience with this surgeon. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed and was in severe pain the following days after the surgery , pain meds werent working, nothing was - I went to the hospital because I was in such pain crying my eyes out I couldnt get any sleep the following days . My mother called him and he said nothing was wrong and that there wasnt any way that I had a dry socket even though I was in tremendous pain. I went to my follow up with him and he wouldnt even give me the chance of day he didnt even look in my mouth longer than five minutes before saying I was fine and that I need to take tylnols only now - when I described my pain he basically said i was making some crazy fake pain up . I went to a different surgeon and was told I had a dry socket and a nerve exposed because he cut too far down exposing it - they said he shouldnt have cut that far down. Everytime we had a encounter with this guy he had a terrible attitude and didnt help me any ! If you love pain and feeling like youre abandoned because the man who did your surgery doesnt want to help you GO HERE ! TERRIBLE SERVICE .

I read the reviews and I will never diminish anyones experience but I will say my experience was absolutely outstanding. Working in the healthcare field, I know that you cannot please everyone. After being deceived (yep, decieved) at another local surgeons office, I appreciates the care, transparency, bedside manner at Dr Lawhons office. He gave me money saving tips and he gave me options. I felt comfortable to ask questions and concerns. He was obviously busy but he did not rush with me. I will refer others!!! He take more insurances than others in the area their for being able to give better options. Even if you do not have insurance, he provide options with the patient in mind. IM SO GLAD I WENT DESPITE WHAT I READ!

If I could give this office Zero stars I would bc they do not deserve one. I went to my dentist with a toothache from a tooth I broke off only to find out it was a wisdom tooth and he could not pull it. My dentist had to refer me to an oral surgeon. They told me to pick between Dr. Lawhon and Palmetto Oral Surgeons (Dr. Oliver) Knowing nothing about either I chose Dr. Lawhon, BIG mistake. I went in for a consult $114 for xray & visit. Their wasnt much consulting, just xray & told me I had to come back to have it pulled. Dr. Lawhon lacks compassion for the patient. Just bc you call the patient sweetheart doesnt show you care. He didnt really explain anything that would happen. So I went back to the checkout desk to schedule my appt. & find that its $290 to just numb it & pull it. I was upset, I did not have the money. When I went back to have it pulled, of course you always pay up front here so I paid & waited in a packed out waiting room. Finally it was my turn, I went back & the girl who preps you was really nice & seemed concerned about my pain. While waiting I could hear a old woman screaming in pain and him tell her it was gonna be quick. Next he came straight to me to numb my mouth. As I was waiting on it to numb I noticed my tongue, gums & lip were numb but when I would bite down I could still feel my tooth hurting. Concerned I would still feel it when he tried to pull it, I told him about it. I could tell he was aggravated, frustrated or just ped off whatever you want to call it he then began acting out w/ rude aggravation. So he sticks my mouth with numbing shots about 6 or 7 more times & says if that doesnt numb it then it wont numb. So I waited on that to work & he came in to pull it, I could still feel my tooth. When he tried to pull it I tried to take the pain by squinting my eyes & gripping the chair (I didnt even move) he stops abruptly & says look if you feel pain & need me to stop I need you to say umph I said I feel pain but I am trying to take it. He said you shouldnt even feel pain. So he tried again & I did the same thing so he slams his tools on the tray, looks to the girl & says she is just gotta be put to sleep. He then looks at me and ask are you sure you feel pain & not pressure. I said its pain. So he picked the needle up & pokes my lip with like hate, says over & over do you feel that? Do you feel that? I said no, he said well you are numb & shouldnt feel it. So then I had to go up front to reschedule & come back. The girl tells me this will be $600! I am floored after the rudeness from him & now I have another $600, knowing you have no other choice. I just left, I told myself I dont know what I will do. I cried and cried. I ended up calling Palmetto Oral Surgeons (Dr. Oliver) & made an appt. This office is a night & day difference from Lawhon. I would never recommend Dr. Lawhon to ANYONE. I would not let him touch my ANIMALS. My visit to Palmetto was so pleasant & he explains everything to you in your consult visit. Even possibilities on why my tooth would not numb. I love the staff & the oral surgeon at Palmetto. They are also cheaper. I hope this review will keep someone from going through what I did. Please choose wisely & PLEASE read other reviews on Dr. Lawhon bc Im not the only one. Dr. Lawhon is running an assembly line of patients, one in, one out & it feels like its all about the money. No compassion.UPDATE: I just recieved a reply from Dr. Lawhon on my review saying that I was someone from a competitors office. NO I was an actual Client. Check your record for Melanie Sabo/Wright. I can post a copy of my receipt with the date of my visit & a copy of the reciept from Dr. Oliver the following your visit showing my review is legit. You know how you treat people, besides my story was VERY detailed for it to have been from a competitor. And to reply saying my story is BS says alot about YOU. You responded to all your negative reviews within an hour saying we were your competitors & you couldnt find names of the patients lol. Arrogant

Wont accept checks and charges extra for accepting debit or credit card. They charge $150 more for a consultation than anybody else in town. Obviously for then its all about the money and patients be damned.

The staff is unprofessional everyone points the finger but never take the blame or try to de escalate a situation rather are very combative especially when they are the one who committed the error or oversight
