A very big thank you to Dr. Brooke Sunstrum. Recently I visited Iowa Oral Surgery to have my lower wisdom teeth removed. Dr. Sunstrum was very thorough in explaining the benefits and risks of each of the options that I had in this procedure. From the start, I noticed her bedside manner and patient interaction was top notch. I had recently visited several other oral surgeons for a consult for the same procedure and left all of those scared out of my mind. So on the day of surgery, I was happy to know that I had a surgeon who I felt cared for me as the patient. With every step, she fully explained to me what to expect, was also very conscious of how I was doing throughout, and made sure everything was done right. She even called me later that evening just to see how I was doing. Between her, the Nurse who helped with the procedure, and the very positive atmosphere, it was the best medical procedure experience I have ever had. In fact, at times she was even singing to the music :)This is EXACTLY how going to the oral surgeon should be! If I ever need to have another procedure done by an Oral Surgeon again, I will be asking for Dr. Sunstrum by name. I would recommend anyone in need of oral surgery to do the same.Thank you Dr. Sunstrum for getting me through what I thought would be a very scary procedure :)

I had two teeth pulled last Friday. I was super nervous about the experience as it was my first time having teeth pulled. The doctor I had was incredibly knowledgeable & competent. His bedside manner was really great and he called me the night after my surgery to make sure I was doing okay. The surgery went really well. I couldn’t have asked for better or more friendly care from the doctor and staff. Thanks so much everyone, great job!

In my experience I feel my specific oral surgeon, nurses and some office staff lacked compassion/friendliness.

I wish I could give this company 0 stars. Will never go here again for any oral surgery needs. Husband went here in November 2015 for them to send us to collections without informing us until only 1 day before it went to collections. The reason it went to collections you may ask, they incorrectly billed one of the insurances and never tried to fix the problem. Instead of trying to work with us to get this fixed they have been nothing but rude and refuse to report properly to the credit bureaus.

I wanted to leave a review for anyone like me who was a little nervous and wanted to know an experience had at this office.Walking in to the clinic I was promptly checked in by a kind woman who could see my anxiety, smiled and told me in a very calming manner, Id be just fine, which I appreciated. Waited maybe 5-10 minutes and was taken back to my room where two nurses began getting me comfortable while not rushing me. They placed the laughing gas on my nose and covered me with a blanket. Shortly after, my IV was put in with a small pinch but at that point very little was bothering me due to my relaxed state. They also attached two pulse monitors to my wrists and a pulse oximeter to my finger. Waiting for the doctor, they talked to me about the snow and Christmas. They were also very kind and patient. My oral surgeon, Dr Nielsen, came in shortly after and was nice in the confident but collected and professional way youd want a surgeon to be. He told me the removal of my four wisdom teeth would be an easy and short procedure and not to worry too much about the sedation part as it wasnt going to be a dramatic experience but that Id fall asleep and wake up in a recovery recliner. I sat amongst the other recovering patients while my body took its time to wake up. A nurse came by to check on me every few minutes and spoke to my fiance about my after care instructions before helping him escort me to the patients private exit where she had him pull the car around, to avoid the busy waiting area. Dr. Nielsen himself called me later in the evening to check up on me. After I told him I was doing just great so far, he said to call the 24 hour line with any problems or concerns. For what it was, my experience was as Id hoped and I would definitely recommend this office to anyone.Good luck!

I needed a lot of teeth removed and sure was extremely anxious about the procedure. Just talking about my problems made me feel ashamed and in panic but Dr. Richman calmed me down quite a lot and treated me very well. The surgery itself went good with no problems afterwards thanks to Dr. Richman and his team. Now it has been 3 months since my surgery and everything is just fine.

The oral surgeon and dental assistants are nice to the patients and care about them. I wish I could say the same about the office staff, including the financial advisor. Three points out of five for this office.

These people dont care. Yeah pay to go to sleep here we will rip ur teeth out before your ready.. Oh your face still hurts, no it doesnt. Take more ibuprofen.. we will call you back ... No, these people dont care about the patient all they want is your money and to get you out the door I would never recommend this place to anyone I care about. I have no idea how places like this stay in business.
