Opened my first account here at the age of 13 and have been with them sense. User-friendly and responsive...apart from one auto loan representative who disappeared on me! Apart from the one ghost they have working there, everyone else has always been extremely helpful.

Been with them for years and have had the best customer service experience. They have caught twice my card number had been stolen way before I even realized the first transaction had occurred and they reimbursed me the losses within 2 hours.When we had a branch on our campus, the personal service that I received was second to none. The personal touch that having this individual right there was wonderful and helped with the resolution of issues (like the time I forgot my debit card at my house over 1 hour away and needed to $$$ to pay for my dogs grooming).

I love banking with Caro, before COVID-19 started, I would go in the bank and the tellers were always pleasant to me, assisting me with whatever I needed, especially Ms. Diane she works in the branch off of Pulaski Street . They will help get you a loan if you need it. I have been banking there for 15 years and never had problem. They will contact you if they see any suspicious activity on your debt card. I love that they give you cash back at the end of the month. Caro - Smart Financial is a great bank . I wouldnt change to any other bank.

I really love the personable touch Caro staff give whenever I interact with them. They are interested in YOU and your financial well being. I have been a member for over five years and they have been beneficial to me in several major financial decisions I have made. I was especially grateful for how they help me when I decided to purchase a new vehicle this summer. Caro gets the GOLD MEDAL for customer service! The employees are always helpful and treat you like family. When you place your accounts with Caro, you are truly valued as a credit union member - ALWAYS! They go out of their way to make sure your needs are met. Anthony is my car loan hero! I cant even count how many loans he has done for my family of 8 (plus extended family members). Always hassle free! Lori is THE BOMB for anything else I need - including my emergency emails to increase my debit limit when Im on vacation - ON WEEKENDS! I couldnt imagine taking my business to any other financial institution! These folks ROCK!

I continue to support Caro FCU. Anytime I need something they are quick to assist. Recently when I was opening a new account for an organization I work with, we where able to do all the transactions on-line and via email due to the Covid-19 virus. I received the check supply and debit card in the mail with no problem. They staff have my upmost support and praise.

I have fortunately been a member of Caro (Carolina Collegiate, name when I first became a member back in the 60s.) I worked then at the University of South Carolina School of Business, which was across the street from Caro and they were in a small house. From there, they built a new office on Pulaski when I bought my first new car and they financed it. I now am retired and still using their bank for all my needs. Ive always had a good relationship with them and trusted them as my banker. They have some of the best employees who are all very knowledgable about the bank. I wouldnt go anywhere else for my banking and have enjoyed all these years with them.

I have been a member since 2000. I have had many positive interactions with the employees but the service overall has been awful. My husband still cannot use his card to purchase many things online. Their online banking upgrade took us by surprise. No one notified us and now it wont recognize us and I need to transfer money around. Whenever we travel is a big ordeal to have them provide us money or access to our account. Its been a headache but I am willing to switch banks and deal with the switch than to continue with the continued issues.

I’ve banked with this institution for 3 years. Since joining, I have benefited from monthly credits earned through their rewards program. I can get an up to date credit check free of charge. The bank is small and personal. If I was ever purchasing an item — id get notifications to approve my debit card just in case frauds were occurring. There’s so many benefits to joining this bank. Take my word for it.

I agree with another post -- service can often be mediocre and slow, but if you get the right person, it makes all the difference. Overall, no real serious complaints. Caro is ultimately a good place to bank with, especially as a University employee. The Kasasa Rewards Checking is an added bonus.

Service is always mediocre pretty much with the exception of maybe 1-2 employees. Long wait times pretty much every single time you go to deposit a check or cash it. At least 15 minute or more wait time and when you arrive at the deposit stations expect to be there for awhile as well. Don’t have high expectations if you plan on banking here.

Ive been a member for many years...since they were in the yellow house on Pendleton Street. The hand full of times I did have an issue, customer service was extraordinary. My issue was always resolved by an experienced staff member. It took some time to get used to using a kiosk, but now I love it. I recommend Caro. :)

They are highly automated and have a great on line banking feature. But having only one full service branch in town is very inconvenient. Takes too long to get photo deposit access approved.

I have been a member since 1992 and would rate service as pretty good. Be prepared for their strange hours (dont open until 10 am on Wed.) and know that you will get a different answer to a question on the phone than when you go in person so I would highly recommend going in person as the staff are really helpful and good at problem solving. This didnt happen prior to merge w/ CARO so might be issue Im not sure.

A few years ago I was really struggling financially and did not see a way out of my debt. Caro paid the fees for me to start using Greenpath to consolidate my debts into a managable monthly amount. Now I am well over half way towards a debt free goal. Greenpath has been awesome to deal with and the stress they took of my shoulders was incredible. I have been a member of Caro for many, many years and they have always been helpful to me and seemed to really care about me as a person. Thank you Caro.

Caro is a great place. I have been a customer with them for years. I have had no problems. They are very efficient and help with the fraud alerts. Diane Regal, Anthony Voci have been very helpful. I cant forget about Dorothy Watts also. Go see them for your next banking account and/or car loan.

I love that Caro allows me to know my credit score as well as easy access to checking more detailed information. When I was in college Caro was easy solution for me to have a bank account that I can trust and easy access to. Better yet, I left my previous financial institution to become a member at Caro because there is no hidden fees or extra fees for account operations such as transactions from one account to another.

If you are looking to buy a car talk to Mr. John E. Price. He help me get approved for an auto loan fast. Also he help me in regards to suggestions on what to look for when purchasing a vehicle and websites that would be helpful. I talked to him for the first time Jan 2, 2020, went home that night to do research on vehicles on the websites he suggested and the next day Jan 3, 2020 i found my vehicle called him and he called the dealership to finalize paperwork. And I made the purchase. Im glad I chose to finance my 2019 Dodge Journey though Caro. Thank you Mr. Price for your professionalism and knowledge to help me purchase my vehicle.

Ive been a member of a university affiliated credit union since I was a graduate student at UNC-CH in the 70s. As soon as I got my first job at Auburn University I joined there and then when I moved to UofSC in 1983, I joined Carolina Collegiate. It just seemed the natural thing for me to do. It still is. Early on I got to know Donna Moses, who has been my go to for mortgages and equity lines of credit for the almost 40 years Ive been doing business at Caro. I still prefer Carolina Collegiate Credit Union, but I know times and names change. Donna, however, has not changed. A mere child when I first started doing business with her (dont know how they got around the child labor laws), she has always been pleasant, clear, efficient, and professional. Obviously, banking has changed over the past four decades. Even I, the old dog in Caros list of customers, love the clarity and ease of banking from home, but I still enjoy going by the new, more convenient building on Rosewood, and doing my business inside when I get an actual check I need to deposit. And if I see that Donna is in and without a customer with her, I always pop in to say hello. She is still the smiling, welcoming face of the bank for me and she represents for me the continuity of service Caro has provided.

I’ve had a checking/savings account since 2006. I’ve never had any issues except a long time ago with the call center (which isn’t part of their local offices). Their online services are somewhat limited- the app does not allow for checks to be deposited electronically like some other banks do, and you can’t see all the features that are available when you log in through a browser on the app. The app is very simple but easy to use.Their staff is very friendly.Update: I later learned that you have to enroll in some features like electronic check deposits by doing some paperwork. Somewhat of a hassle, but I am now able to do it!

I became a member probably 15 years ago. Ann Fitzsimmons ran the branch at USC Upstate and the personal attention was wonderful. She helped me rebuild my credit after divorce and always looked out for me as a customer. They keep on the cutting edge of online banking. Theyve helped my oldest buy his first car. And I love that they have added tools to track your credit score. I have all of my accounts here.

I have been banking with Caro for over 25 years, going all the way back to when the office was on Pendleton Street! Through the years, they have helped with a Consolidation Loan, Home Equity Loan and an Automobile loan. Always a good experience! The one thing I have enjoyed the most over the years was not being charged all of the fees that the BIG banks charge. Now with the KASASA checking, they even pay me fees each month! Each month, the cash back keeps growing! I love it!

I have been a member of this C.U. for 50 years (account number is only 3 digits!) and the only problem I had occurred when the new office opened on Pulaski St. Had to call ahead a day ahead when I needed a large amount of cash. That is no longer a problem. Over the years I have had 2 checking accounts, a savings account (still have one of each plus Mastercard account), financed cars and had a home equity loan. Everything was/is SO convenient. Enough cannot be said about the courtesy and friendliness of the staff. I have recommended the Credit Union to family members and will never hesitate to recomend it to anyone. Beats the heck out of dealing with banks!!

I have been banking with caro for several years. I applied for a signature loan of 3,000. I have a credit score of 730. I was told I was approved but to find out 1 1/2 days later that I was denied because the manager did not like the write offs on my taxes !(prepared by a cpa)! The payments would have been a little over 100 dollars a month. I went to Allsouth fcu and was approved in 20 mins. Then 3 days later went to value city furniture and was approved for a 2500 credit card in 10 minutes. I wonder was it the color of my skin because its not my credit score. Very disappointed, closed the new accounts that I was told I needed to open in addition to the ones I had with a balance in excess of $3000.

I went to Caro from a larger bank for a more personalized approach. I have had nothing but one problem after another. Lack of knowledge concerning what to do when I thought my account was hacked is for me the final straw. I recieved instructions to close my account by message and was assured since the next day was Thanksgiving ,not to worry that anything legitimate would be covered with no fee. I then realized that they did not recognize a PAY PAL transaction which had started the whole mess to begin with. I then sent another message NOT to close the account ,but Monday morning found over 100.00 of overdraft fees. I went into the branch talked to a teller who said they would remove all but 25.00??? I went along with it just being sick of it all at this point but today found non of those fees called the bank, was on hold for 45 min....then told that they would not be removed. I asked for the manager and after another 20 min on hold hung up. This is not managed like a functional credit union. More like a lemonade stand.

I left them. I hate them. Despise them. Their customer service is the pits. For just one example, call on the phone and wait through a menu of nine, count em, nine prompts before they list all other inquiries, press 9. Which...in my experience, is typical. As a depositor, youre ninth, at best, on their priority list. So glad to be rid of the experience of banking with them.
