From the warm welcome you get when walking in the door, to the modern tools doc uses, to his precise diligence in his work, is where it puts him a cut above the rest. After a car accident left me with a dislocated jaw joint at the age of 26, Dr. Widen gave me my life back. For several months before I went to him, I was in constant pain, could barely open my mouth, and could not eat solid food. I couldn’t sleep through the night because of the pain. I was exhausted, worried, and avoided social situations because I couldn’t eat and it was difficult and painful to talk.My father-in-law is a dentist in another state, and was searching for someone in Chicago who could help me out. He called Dr. Widen (who answered even though he was on vacation), and he offered to see me as soon as possible. After that first consultation, I knew I was in good hands. My unusual situation required a couple of years of regular appointments, but the very patient Dr. Widen brought me back to normal, understanding the emotional aspects that accompanied the physical pain throughout the process.The level of care Dr. Widen provides is unmatched. He is precise, measured, and exact in his work. Dr. Widen uses advanced techniques and cutting-edge equipment to ensure his adjustments are accurate. He also takes the time to explain everything he is doing, using drawings, diagrams, photos, baseball or movie analogies…anything that will help you understand, which I personally appreciate very much. He has a lot of fun doing this, so you can tell that he loves his work and truly cares that his patients feel comfortable. And in my case at least, the level of patience he displays on top of all of this is incredible. I was very worried throughout my recovery and tend to ask a lot of questions, but he hung in there with me even during some moments when I’m sure anyone else would have wanted to throw me out the window. Also, Dr. Widen only books one patient at a time, so you have his undivided attention and never feel rushed. It is hard to find someone who is both so highly skilled/knowledgeable and caring/conversational, and I am very glad I did.The cost of Dr. Widen’s treatments is not inexpensive, but he is extremely fair and up front regarding his pricing so you’ll know exactly what to expect and why. He will not jack you around, there are no hidden fees, surprise extra costs, or strange things in the bill. Actually, with how long my treatment took, at some point I expected him to charge me more but he never did. And again, by restoring my jaw he also restored my quality of life, so to me that is worth the cost a thousand times over. I continue to see Dr. Widen for my routine cleanings and my husband does now too. It is worth every penny for the thorough exams, one-on-one attention, and peace of mind he provides.I am so grateful for Dr. Widen and I think you’ll appreciate his one-of-a-kind skill and service as well. You better Widen your Wallet to see this dentist...he made me pay $2500 to pay for a bite splint up front for my severe TMJ problem. Gave him a check for $2700 which included a cleaning & impressions/diagnostics/tens & yes a bite splint that would be made while he was away in Hawaii on a so called dental convention. Well Nicole called me 3 weeks later & said that the splint got lost somehow & was shipped & delivered to Dr. Widens office while he was in Hawaii. They tried to track the splint & could not find it. They wanted me to come back in & do all the impressions/tens/diagnostics all over again. I told her I could not come back in due to severe health problems & asked for my money back. She said she or Dr. Widen would give me a call back regarding my return of my money. Needless to say no call back been almost one week & still no call back. 😰Update...He paid me back after I posted this review...thank you!

By far the best dentist I have ever had! Dr. Widen takes his time to understand your problems and takes you step by step through various solutions. He has late night appointments as well for those who are not available during working hours. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for anything from a simple cleaning to TMJ relief.

I highly recommend Dr. Widen. He has been a life saver for me. I have been a patient since 2006. In addition to being an excellent general dentist, he has been able to relieve my TMJ and chronic headache, neck and shoulder pain by precisely measuring excessive muscle recruitment, identifying my optimal bite and creating an orthotic that finally allows my jaw to relax and heal. The process was worth every penny for the complete relief of suffering, particularly after trying so many other treatments that did not help – medications, PT, etc…He is a consummate professional and goes above and beyond in his care for his patients. The best dentist in the Chicagoland area and has been my personal dentist since 2005. He’s patient, attentive and the absolute best.

A 30-year problem resolved. I suffered with headaches and eye pain for 30 years. I saw many neurologists including doctors at the Diamond Headache Clinic. I received some relief, but ultimately my issues were TMJ, supraorbital neuralgia, and pain medication addiction. During my course of treatment with Dr. Widen, I was given a printout of special x-rays showing substantial deterioration in my TMJ. I later relayed to Dr. Widen that surgeons and specialists at Rush and Edward-Naperville hospitals thought maxillofacial surgery would be necessary to address my TMJ issue. Dr. Widen advised against surgery and we decided that a reconstruction of my bite was warranted. Within a week after the reconstruction procedure, my TMJ headaches became a thing of the past. I subsequently received an ablation for my neuralgia, and after 30 years, I am 100% TMJ pain free, 85% neuralgia pain free, and 100% pill addiction free. Thank you, Dr. Widen.

****** The best dental practice in Chicago******I am a physician in the University of Illinois at Chicago hospitals. I visited Dr. Widens dental office for the first time about 3 month ago. I am not easily satisfied by something but you can say he has exceeded my expectations in every aspect. He is without exaggeration one of the best dentists I have ever seen and I have seen many! He is meticulous, detail oriented and extremely experienced. For him every patient matters like member of his family. His office is not one of those offices that a dentist works on 5 patients at the same time, going from one patient to the other and then coming back. When you have an appointment, his complete attention and time belongs to you. This decreases the number of patients that can be seen per day but makes your visit very personal. He spends as much time as needed on you and explains everything in details. Gives different options to choose from and never does something on your teeth that is not necessary. In emergency situations you can call him and he will come to the office for you. One time he was working on my teeth at 10:30 pm because I had problems and did not have time to come some other time. He is very well educated and up to date in dental sciences. He has extensive experience in aesthetics dentistry and has had lots of high profile patients with different dental needs. You can see him for any problem from simple cleaning to complicated esthetics surgeries. His office manager Ms. Nichole is very nice, attentive and experienced. There are plenty of dentist in Chicago to choose from. None compare to Dr. Ron Widen.Dr. Widen did not only save my teeth from utter demolition by another dentist, he saved my pocketbook. NOTE! If your dentist says you NEED a root canal. GET a 2nd Opinion from Dr. Widen! Some dentists just go that route, but a root canal is the last option for Dr. Widen.I have never felt more comfortable in the seat at a dentist. He treats you like a family member and really sees one, yes ONE patient at a time, not jumping from room to room like other not so professional dentists out there.I was also blown away by his hands on teeth cleaning skills, and extremely high tech and new equipment.
