Although my stay was only 1 night, I was treated exceptionally well by all of the staff. The food staff went above and beyond to make sure I was fed exceptionally well even though it was after dinner hours when I got in my room. The room was great. Large and very clean. My nurses Brittnay and David were very helpful and took wonderful care of me. Thank you all for the GREAT careπŸ’–

I told my nurse there were air bubbles in my IV line, she cleared it by pushing the air bubbles into my vein and got upset with me when I asked her why she would do that. That is dangerous and not how you clear an iv of air. Her name is Nadia.Later in the night, after I had fallen asleep, the nurses were playing with wheeled chairs and woke me up from it. They even pushed one into the wall next to my door, and laughed hysterically about it. This is at 1:45am.I called the hospitals customer care, they said someone would come to my room to talk to me about it. No one showed up for an hour, called the hospital and spoke with the administration which told me they heard the nurses side of the story and that was all they had to say about it.Ive had bad hospital experiences, but I would never have expected such childishness and rudeness from someone, let alone nurses.Oh yea, I had hip surgery the day before. Completely acceptable way to treat people who had invasive surgery apparently.

The worst communication and the worst care for my father. I will continue to investigate the care of my father. I would never recommend care for a loved one at this facility. Dr. Communication is the worst even begging for a phone call. My father has degenerated in this hospital. I have so much more to say. I believe my father will pass away in this hospital without any explanation. 6 days already? They will probably blame covid even though hes been vaccinated. More money for the hospital.

What I dont understand is, how can an urgent care, or primary Dr call and let the hospital know that you are on the way and not be ready for you? An EKG was already done, and all that needed to be done was a CT scan, and an x-ray. It just seems to me if a Drs Office calls and tells you a patient is coming, why do you not have everything in place when the patient gets here? This would speed the time in which a patient is here. Time management is not priority, is it? We have been here 2 hours, and hardly none of these processes are done. Why? I understand if an emergency situation comes in, it pushes everything back, but at least communicate with the love ones that are in the waiting room. But now whats gonna happen, is that you will respond with a scripted response. Again, unprofessional. You should give a genuine response to your patients that have legitimate concerns. You should care enough about your patients and have enough respect for us and give us a response by an actual person. I cant even go back to be with her because they said that she has some symptoms of Covid. Urgent care did a C19 test on her, AND it was negative. We even brought the paper that said she was negative. Other spouses get to go back. She has also been fully vaccinated, and has her card, as have I. I still cant go back? People that came in AFTER, us, have already gotten me in and left! The ER front desk employees were great. One guy even called back to see if I could go back to see my wife yet, because he knew that I had been waiting for nearly two hours. You wouldnt allow this kind of service if it was your family member. So why do you treat mine this way? 100% Unacceptable!

I was admitted to this hospital Monday night for a blood clot that went from my knee past my groin which is a very big size. The pain is excruciating and unbearable at times especially when trying to sleep at night. Today is Friday morning and I am still here in pain. Dr. Schmitz attempted to discharge me earlier in the week if my pain was reduced. Which it has not. I was given dilauded through an IV as a pain reliever which did relieve my pain for a couple hours. The doctor recommended to wean me off of the IV and have me take an oral pain medication. This did not help with the pain AT ALL. All of the other nurses were understanding of my pain and continued to give me the IV which helped me sleep a little. The past 2 nights my nurse Shavan has given false information and did not want to give me Zofran for my nausea and refused to give me the IV which I was told by the doctor if I had to take the IV it was allowed depending on my pain. I am sitting here another sleepless night in pain on top of my frustration with no relief. I respectfully argued and argued to Shavan about the fact that something else needs to be done and that I was informed otherwise by the doctor as far as my medication. Mind you my blood clot is through half my leg going past my groin and I barely have much blood circulation which is causing swelling and pain. I am ready to be discharged and admitted to another hospital at this point.

I must sincerely say I was treated like the former First Lady, Mrs. Michelle Obama! I was nervous of where to go because sadly many medical facilities have negative reviews and this was my first medical emergency that required an admission. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to my emergency room nurses, on call doctor, ambulance transport team, admissions clerk, team of nurses that cared for me, technicians (X-ray, Stress tests team etc), cleaning staff to dietary workers!!! I BELIEVE when you have a excellent TEAM working together as I experienced, it assisted my road to quick recovery the spark I needed due to the ENERGY set around me! Forever GRATEFUL! I tried the avoid the hospital because who likes them.... no one!! I was discharged with no improvement in condition, reading the doctors notes that are not correct, let go with low lab levels that were starting treatment but no redraw to see improvement. The hospitalist was very judgmental and would not listen to my concerns... never asked for pain meds but she made me feel like a drug addict and even did a drug screen... negative... of course! I’m in medical too but she didn’t need to know that since she was not a good doctor and trust me I’ve seen them all. I’m good with poor bedside as long as they are a good doctor. This hospitalist not good. I can’t wait to get this over priced bill that was a waste.

This place was a mixed bag. I was there for some heart related irregularities after I was transferred from mains ED. I was on the 4th floor. The techs who took vitals were good and I had no complaints. The nurses were a mixed bag, ranging from good to near negligent. (Jane, dressed in all black like a nursing ninja is standout exceptional nurse. She took excellent care of me on her shift and I could hear her most of the night giving everyone else the same level of excellent care. 1 of these stars in my review is hers and hers alone!) The regular Dr. for me was just ok, not great. Dr. Falawee the cardiologist was a really good doctor. I liked his bedside manner and felt he cared. Foodservice was ok but did have some slip ups that are not worth mentioning. The room does feel dirty but I would imagine the age of the rooms giving that impression. But it was a little dirty. All the specialist from nuclear medicine, ultrasound and the like were excellent and professional. I would not be scared to stay here again but I do hope the other nurses on the 4th floor take a lesson from Jane.

Had to have blood work done in the hospital lab in preparation for surgery. Signed in. Another patient waiting stated she was there for a Covid Test. I sat outside the lab for safety. The other patient leaves and I can go into the lab. Elliot, the lab tech, tells me to sit down in the chair where blood is drawn. I asked him β€œhave you wiped down the chair?” Elliott responded β€œno. I do not wipe down the chair after every patient.” I shook my head β€œno” and he said β€œdo you want me to wipe down the chair?” I said β€œYES!! That should be protocol!!” His response β€œgerms are everywhere. You are having surgery? How are you going to protect yourself from Covid and other germs? You’re in a hospital. You shouldn’t have surgery if you are afraid of catching something. What about the nurses that come in and out of your room? What are you going to do then?” To say the least I was stunned by his response. He then wiped down the chair and took my blood. I hope and pray this is not representative of the care I am going to receive beginning on December 15th. I’ve received excellent care at Novant Hospital. This is the only hospital that was available for my surgery, and my surgeon only works here and at Ortho. I would hate to think that one individual can taint an entire hospital experience, but this is true. Every patient deserves excellent, compassionate, professional care, with every protocol in place for the current Covid crisis. I will be on the wing for Spinal surgery patients beginning Dec 15th, the day of my spinal surgery. I pray the entire staff 24/7 are everything a patient could hope for in these difficult times. As for the lab tech, Elliott, his rudeness, β€œI don’t care” attitude was frightening considering how prevalent Covid is now. In addition, nothing is being done to wipe down door handles or waiting chairs or anything else.

Amazing facility, I have been to a lot of hospitals with my mother, but this one is by far the cleanest, and with spacious and thoughtfully designed spaces. Previous hospitals required the shuffling of my mothers possessions to maneuver through cramped rooms. The room she received here is the size of a small hotel room, with quality finishes. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. My mothers surgeon , Dr. Otero, along with his team, did an amazing job with my mothers orthopedic surgery, one that was complicated to say the least.Dr. Otero offered us cautious optimism, never promising the best case scenario, but clearly explaining all possible outcomes. Match that with an empathic and confident delivery, and you get hope where most other doctors offered us fear and gloom. The biggest compliment I can give is the condition that I met my mother in after recovery. Her previous surgeries broke my heart, with her barely lucid and screaming/crying in agony and pain, the only thing she would talk about for days. With this surgery, she came out with manageable pain but smiling and easily forgetting it once she was in conversation or had a meal in front of her. It’s obvious that the entire team listened thoroughly to my mothers past experiences and performed the surgery with care. I highly recommend and thank the people at Atrium Health!

So, I tell the RN that I think I have strep-throat and she gives me a shot of Penicillin. No tests were done, no swab used or anything. A few weeks later, here comes a bill thats $512. I basically told these people what I thought was wrong with me and they took my word and charged me that much money. Now they dont want to remove this from my credit. For that purpose, I will never ever go to Mercy ever again and I will make sure I contact the right people to get their mess off my credit report. They are a joke and I dont take them serious. Be careful if you choose to go here for anything.

This hospital staff will give you their butts to kiss and have so much attitude especially kitchen staff. Hospitality is lacking big time . There are very few staff members in various departments that are actually kind & doing their job correctly .

Please. DO NOT GO HERE. The very first time I went was in the middle of the night because of the pain. The wait was short and anything was fine. I was brought into a room and the nurse asked me all the normal information. Later, I could hear her talking badly about all the patients to the other nurses. In clear ear shot of the patients. I couldnt believe it and was so upset. She was even talking about a homeless man with no family next door like he was a dog.You could say it was just her, but what kind of nurses were the other if they allowed this? No one should have to play for treatment like that.I went back a year later (I know, but I was in pain again) And there was barely anyone in there. Maybe 3 people waiting. It was a ghost town. And after my last experience I know why. Seems everyone else got the same treatment.Novant is directly across the street. Go there. Go anywhere else but here. You shouldnt have to pay for this.

Piss poor !! Hopefully its only the night shift thats this terrible & unprofessional. No update. When I asked about an estimated time i was told to sit down and someone will b with me. Well 1 hour later that never happened. I left unhelped with a wrist band & still n pain. Thanks A lot Mercy Emergency Room for Nothing !!

My adult son was admitted into mercy hosp for severe stomach pain with nausea. my son does have a drinking problem. He knows that. But the nurse and doctors on the 5th floor treated him like he was some worthless piece of garbage. And just as a side note, my son owns his own business and has insurance. It was horrible. People are people and deserve to be treated with Respect. In spite of their personal opinion. It was the 5th floor, it was last may and the Dr/resident is Wilson. He should be ashamed.

Had surgery and was well taken care of by the staff and surgeon. I did have bite marks all over my legs upon release from the 5th floor of the hospital. I believe it to be best bugs as I had no issues from my home to the hospital. I mean flaming red marks on the bottom of my legs where the sheets were the entire over. Night stay, very concerning. I did alert them so that they can look into the issues. Other than that I received top notch care from the staff

Very rude nurse that told me to get a real job. It was hard to get a straight answer out of the Dr and she acted like it was a chore to examine me. Only reason I came is because its quick to be seen. Had to go to another Er to get treated for dehydration.

So disapponting! The level of unprofessionalism is astonishing! This hospital use to be the best in the area.It truly has lost that reputation. When I arrived at approx 11pm,the receptionist completely ignored me and continued with a flirtatious and completely inappropriate conversation with two male staff members while I just stood there waiting to be served. She had no idea why I was seeking care..and obviously did not care. She was rude and full of attiude... with smart remarks. Finally, after the guys walked off,she asked for my name and info.I was the only person in the lobby seeking care..yet waited over two hours before a medical doctor stopped by the room.It was obvious he too was lacking in professionalism..he was unprepared..had no idea why I was was there and had not bothered to even look at my chart. He left to go read the chart ..It is now 2am and Im still waiting! I use to recommend this hospital and was the only one I would go to for 35 years.. but never again!Truly sad to see a once shining example...turn to rust! Retraining is need at this place immediately!

I had surgery at Mercy last week. I had the best experience from checking in, all the nursing staff, dr and anesthesiologist. They couldn’t have gone out of their way more to make me as comfortable as possible. Can’t remember everyone’s names but my nurses were: Katherine, Jon, Artesia and Beverly 😁

This is the worst place ever the police took him there he called and ambulance because of his heart. He is taken his brothers death really hard what does these lousy jerks do they put him in a mental ward instead of helping him. Now they want let his family know where they are taken him too. what a government program . Makes me ashamed of the US and how doctors can get away with what ever they want . if I could give them less than a one I would.

Nursing staff was kind, the very young female Doctor I saw was unethical, unprofessional, and patronizing to someone who has a lifelong chronic illness. Same doctor put false information on my chart, and discharged me while I was so sick I almost didnt make it to cmc-main across the street (where I was immediately treated for what was an obvious condition). I would never feel safe in this building after what I went through here.
