Dr. Dane was referred to us for my daughters complicated concussion issues. Shes been incredibly helpful and thorough in trying to get answers and figure out ways to control my daughters migraines, dizziness, and insomnia. Her personality jives so well with us and my daughter feels so comfortable with her. Her sweet therapy dogs are just the cherry on top. We drive 45min to see her. Shes very fair in her approach of when to seek other outside expertise for complication which need more specific attention. My daughter is doing better in many capacities so shes been having us scale back our time with her. Shes still someone we sincerely look forward to seeing a couple times a month and have no plans of looking for anyone closer to home. Shes a wonderful and caring person who genuinely wants to get to the bottom of your medical issues. Highly recommend!

Dr. Danes is the doctor I’ve been waiting for...for a very long time. I’d imagine in another era, she would be the sort of physician that regularly makes house calls. In today’s world, she’s the next best thing. It often seems impossible to find doctors who exhibit the sort of attentiveness that Dr. Danes gives her patients. I’ve known her and followed her work for almost 6 years, and every time I’ve reached out to her, she follows up promptly, listens carefully, and is decisive in her feedback and care. I also know others who have worked with her practice who consistently give her praise and feel so blessed by the progress they have seen through her treatments. Dr Danes has given me hope that my child can get better and has already shown us a clear path of how we can get there. You can also rely on her to be honest. She manages expectations well and will be clear to communicate what her practice and expertise can accomplish and what areas of care she does not provide. I recommend Dr. Danes to people I know all the time because I am confident that she cares deeply about all her patients and she’s highly skilled at what she does.

I was referred to Dr Dane by my Integrative Medicine doctor, after my regular doctor told me that my recent perception issues were psychosomatic. They began after I fell off of a wall onto pavement hitting my head and shattering my left elbow. I was losing my balance on stairs, clipping doors while walking through, and hitting curbs with my car. Dr. Dane’s testing did indeed show that I had perception issues. The exercises she taught me are helping greatly, as long as I keep up with them. She knows that I can’t afford too many office visits and she’s been kind enough to teach me exercises that I can do at home. I can’t say enough about this woman who is so kind, compassionate, and incredibly smart. Her dogs are just wonderful and are part of the therapy. Heather, her assistant is also wonderful. I highly recommend Dr. Dane her work is cutting edge and it works!

Dr. Dane is incredible!! Our teenage son suffered from what we thought was ADD for many years. He went through an intensive week’s worth of sessions with Dr. Dane and we now have the son we always knew was inside his foggy head. He speaks clearer, his balance is better, he can concentrate finally! He is a much HAPPIER young man overall. He attributes this to the “brain balancing” program Dr Dane set for him. This is a totally different kind of medical office. Dr. Dane and her staff and dogs are special. We can not thank you enough for giving us our son back. We are forever grateful for finding this special place. Thank you Dr. Dane!!!

I have a traumatic brain injury along with several other major health issues. I contacted Dr. Danes to see if she could help me. I drove 3 hrs to see her for the assessment and testing. She sent me home with a home program to do since I live so far away. I was doing the exercises and checking in with her as she requested. Late last year, I had a new major medical diagnosis that was devastating and took all my energy and attention (of which I have very limited amount due to TBI). I was unable to perform the home program for several months.A few weeks ago, I felt like I was ready to start working with Dr Danes on her home program again. Things were a bit more stable with all my other issues, so I was fully ready to move forward. I contacted her and let her know what has been going on, and told her I was ready to work with her on my TBI issues once again. This is the letter I got back from her:--------------------------------------Hi Sharon,Our new patient advocate, Teri Gray, let me know you had called earlier this week with the intension of coming back in for care.Because it has been a year since seeing you, we would need to start with a full examination. What has changed that would allow you to participate in exercises that I may recommend?I know money was a concern for you. So, I don’t want you to waste time or money by being examined and then not be able to follow through with things that may help. It became obvious last year that an at-home program was not going to work for you. So, you would need to more in-person treatment to get any benefit. And, I am not sure that this is financially feasible for you. Thanks responding,Darcy D. Dane, DC, DACNB---------------------------------------------------------I was so offended and hurt by her response. And I was devastated at the fact that I did not have any viable options regarding help with my TBI. She literally sucked my hope from me that I would ever get better. She was incredibly rude and judgmental. She said I couldnt afford it, and that it was obvious last year that an at-home program was not going to work for me, and that it might be a waste of time and money to start up with her again. SHE SAID I AM NOT SURE THAT THIS IS FINANCIALLY FEASIBLE FOR YOU. :-(((I looked back through my emails with her to see if I was reading her wrong, that maybe she is just a poor communicator. I had forgotten that a similar tone and rudeness had been shown to me before by Dr Danes. It was not me misreading her. This is who Darch Danes REALLY IS.While looking through my emails, I found another email from Dacy Danes regarding attacks on Google reviews, and soliciting a good review from me. The attacks were patients who left her a negative review. Very unprofessional, IMO. Here is the email:-----------------------------------------------------------Hi Sharon,There have been two recent attacks on Google. If you could post a short review, I would be grateful.Darcy D. Dane, DC, DACNB---------------------------------------------------------------Darcie Danes is a rude woman. She apparently only wants success stories that praise DarcyDanes greatness, with matching Google reviews. She crushed my hope that she could help me, telling me I did not do the work. She told me I was too poor to afford her, and it would likely be a waste of time and money. Anyone who has a brain injury can tell you that recovery is not a straight line; there are periods of improvement, and there are setbacks. It is a difficult, slow, frustrating road. DarchDanes was unwilling to show me any compassion, knowing my situation. She was demeaning to me personally. She is a bad doctor.Take care before deciding to see her.IMO she should have her license revoked. She is not good for TBI.

My 25 year old son has been diagnosed with bipolar and felt his issues with cognitive ability and focus/concentration was declining and found Dr. Dane through internet research. Her approach was what he was looking for and addressed his challenges he’s been facing throughout his life. Dr.Dane worked with my son through an intensive brain balance series that lasted 5 days. She made an extra effort to work around his college schedule. The before and after testing was remarkable in improvement. Besides her professionalism, extensive knowledge in brain issues, Dr. Dane is compassionate and truly cares. This is evident in her availability and quick response to his emails and phone calls when he needed reassurance throughout the process. Her gift of guidance and words of encouragement are appreciated as it can be scary when working with the brain & I appreciate her directness as well. I highly recommend Dr. Dane.

Dr Dane at Carolina Brain Center has made such a positive impact on our lives. The therapy that our daughter received took her from needing a full time classroom helper (due to behavioral issues with SPD) in preschool and Kindergarten to needing no helper in first grade, not to mention behaving above expectation at both home as well school. Our daughter has been able to lead a life that is typical of most first graders and now has the ability to succeed. We cannot recommend Dr Dane highly enough!

When our sweet energetic daughter started PreK fulltime, she started having issues with anxiety and sensory processing. She was having huge meltdowns, demonstrating sensory avoiding behaviors like running out of the classroom, hiding under desks, crying, and just shutting down. At home she was always exhausted, quick to anger, and almost depressed. We started talk therapy and OT, but were not making any progress. Her therapist was beginning to talk about medications. We felt like we were losing our daughter! A friend recommended we find a functional neurology clinic to have her primitive reflexes evaluated. Ill admit we were skeptical, but were willing to try anything.Dr. Dane did a thorough evaluation, explaining as she went what she was seeing and how it was likely impacting our daughters daily life. She developed a simple treatment plan for us to take home and work on with our daughter. After only a few weeks into the plan, we are believers! Almost all of our daughters anxiety and sensory behaviors are gone. She is calm, quiet and focused at school. Her teachers went from using words like disruptive and uncontrolled to model student, capable learner. At home she is happy and playful. She sleeps more soundly and seems more energetic.I dont claim to understand functional neurology or how what Dr. Dane recommended worked. What I will claim is that Dr. Dane gave us back our daughter. And for that we will always be grateful.

AND offered me a treatment plan that actually worked!! I cannot tell you how much gratitude I have for Dr. Dane and her practices. After years of doctors trying to cover up my many symptoms with different medications, she actually got to the root of what was causing the issues. And she is helping me reach a point, where I will no longer need daily medications! Finally a practice that stays up tp date with all the innovative modern medical research that is happening!! She treats you with compassion, and takes time to listen to you. You will feel wonderfully taken care of at Carolina Brain Center. I have more energy and clarity today, than I have had in years, and I am no longer dealing with chronic debilitating pain. Thank you thank you thank you Dr. Dane!!

I was in a car accident in October where a guy ran a red light and hit me going 55 MPH. As a result, I was left with a concussion and whip lash. I was very frustrated because I tried on my own to get a neurologist to help me. However because I was in a car accident they would not even see me. I went to my primary doctor who recommended Dr. Dane. She and her staff are amazing! Dr. Dane took me in, showed me where I was as a result of the accident, and formed a solid plan on how to get me back to myself again. I actually feel better than before my accident! I cannot say enough about how awesome she is. I also fell in love with Doc and Ollie :) I am so thankful!

Finding out about the hidden gem right here in Raleigh, Carolina Brain Center, was nothing short of a divine appointment from God. After decades of being passed from specialist to specialist, all the while seeing a handful of holistic docs just to keep me functional, I had come to accept that I was probably not going to get much better than how I was feeling...until I became a patient of Dr. Danes!Because of the specialized testing offered by Carolina Brain Center, I received an answer to the root cause of many of my symptoms (Lyme disease), which previous blood and muscle tests had failed to identify. Not only did I receive the AMAZING new treatment (non-antibiotic) overseen by Dr. Dane, but I was also taught certain exercised for my brain that would help support me in reducing the often debilitating anxiety that I was experiencing at the time. Now, almost a year post-treatment (and CLEARED of LYME DISEASE), I feel like Im steadily getting my life back. My energy back. The pep in my step I was missing. And the desire and stamina to do the things I love...As someone who has had to be her own advocate when it comes to presenting your symptoms, worries, and concerns to medical specialists, it sure has been a relief to find Dr. Dane, as she has become a huge advocate for my health! She cares deeply for her patients, fights for the best outcomes on their wellness journey, and is not easily intimidated by those of us with often puzzling symptoms. She is a doctor you want in your health journey corner!

My daughter suffered 2 sports related concussions, the first in the fall of 2015 and the second in the spring of 2016. Both were slow recoveries, but following the second concussion she had daily headaches, terrible neck/back pain, constant pressure in her head, dizziness and nausea that never resolved. We have been on a 3 year journey to return her to normal. Working with a neurologist, PT (for vestibular therapy) and neuro-optometrist (for visual therapy). Each helped incrementally, but none relieved the headaches (which had been reduced in frequency) or constant head pressure. We were finally referred to Dr. Dane in the summer of 2019 and after a 5 day intensive brain camp, the head pressure and headaches are gone! Dr. Dane is caring and seems genuinely committed to helping her patients recover from their symptoms. Ive told my regular neurologist about Dr. Dane and hopefully the two can collaborate to help even more concussion patients in the future.

Dr. Dane has been treating my son for Tourettes Syndrome and the accompanying disorders for 2 years. As a result of her treatment, my son has been able to come off of most of the medicine he was on, is functioning better in school, and has more confidence to face the challenges in his life. Dr. Dane immediately gave us tools and knowledge to use at home so that we could maximize my sons treatment and utilize these tools in his everyday life. She has been an amazing resource to our family as we navigate through these issues and has partnered with our other doctors and our sons teachers to ensure the best possible plan for his success in life. Dr. Darcy Dane has been much more than a doctor for us: at times a coach, cheerleader, butt kicker, and friend and we are grateful.

Just recently my daughter said to me, You know mom, Dr Darcy saved my life. I could have never gone to college without these glasses. We knew our girl had a terrible case of ADHD, but had no idea that she could have been helped with brain camp. In addition, Dr Darcy discovered that our daughters eyes didnt track together properly, which caused a huge dislike for school. And actually, this problem was easily corrected with a special type of glasses.I have no idea why an optometrist would not have found the eye tracking problem, as it sure would have saved a lot of problems during 12 years of schooling, but we are extremely thankful for Dr Darcys excellent care and services. It changed our daughters life forever. She now loves school and desires to be a nurse to help people. If you are looking for help with your child regarding ADHD or ADD issues, if you are searching for alternatives that do not include meds, I highly recommend Dr Darcy Dane and the Carolina Brain Center. When I walked into Carolina Brain Center I was barely able to look down at the floor or turn my head all the way to either side without feeling like I was going to pass out. When I changed positions ie stood up from a reclined position or layed down flat everything would start spinning and begin to go black.Dr Brindisi discovered that my heart rate was spiking 40 points when I was getting up, At the same time, my blood pressure was crashing. She also uncovered several problems with how my eyes were reacting to visual cues.I suffered constant, severe headaches every day as well as feeling dizzy and slightly nauseous all of the time.Within one week, I felt 80% better. My headaches are almost entirely gone and I rarely feel dizzy or nauseous anymore. We have retrained my eyes to function properly which I will continue to work on going forward.I can not praise Dr Brindisi and the Carolina Brain Center highly enough. No other doctor was even looking at my symptoms from this perspective or testing to identify the underlying problems. I was given medications and told to rest. I would still be suffering with no hope of relief if not for them.

Dr. Dane is a wish come true. I have been suffering from migraine headaches and PTSD for eight years. I am a veteran and have been under the care of multiple physicians over the years. I was taking three different medications daily for the migraines and others meds for PTSD, as well as periodically going to the VA ER to get a shot when the migraine was no longer tolerable. I have a high tolerance to pain, but even so I have missed multiple days of work over the years due to this disability. However, after a few visits for some adjustments and a week of intense therapy, Dr. Dane has done more for me in one month than the VA has done for me in over eight years. I highly recommend Dr. Dane and hope that one day the VA will also implement the therapies that she and others in her field are promoting and successfully practicing across the country. I know that there are thousands of veterans suffering from this same disability but all the VA is willing to do is feed the veteran medication like it is candy and not correctly treating the illness. Dr. Dane, thank you so much for all you have done, not just for me but others as well. I am forever in debt to you.

My son was diagnosed with a severe concussion by our primary care physician. After a few weeks of computerized concussion testing they cleared him to return to all activity, including resuming all school work. Shortly after he was cleared by his primary care physician my son starting showing symptoms of Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS) (trouble sleeping, vestibular issues, anxiety and short-term cognitive memory loss). His primary care physician sent him to a Neurological Psyschologist who determined that he was indeed suffering from PCS. His primary care physicians treatment plan included medicating him to get by, not fixing the problem.Dr. Danes diagnosis was to fix the problem, not medicate the problem. Dr Dane worked intensively with my son to stimulate his brain, she performed tests on him (vestibular and cognitive), determined the cause of his symptoms (looking at his eyes to determine they were not aligned) and basically did physical therapy on his brain to correct his issues. We started to notice a difference in my son after only a few sessions working with Dr. Dane. I am please to say that medication was not needed, the results speak for themselves! Thank you Dr. Dane for giving us a sense of hope and for giving us the results that reinforce your initial prognosis.
