I recently was treated for a upper arm injury and serious wrist injury by Dr Catalano and his staff.Dr Catalano is very attentive and took care to evaluate my injuries and tried multiple treatments before finally recommending surgery for one of the injuries. Dr Catalano was very straight forward with the post-surgery expectations and has followed up extensively with my recovery (now close to 6 months post surgery). His front office and billing staff are friendly and provided exemplary service and help (including taking care of all insurance pre-authorizations). Appointment scheduling was very flexible and appointments started on time as scheduled.I highly recommend Dr Catalano for anyone seeking medical advice/treatment for hand/wrist/arm injuries.

I had an incredible experience with Dr. Catalano! I had been having issues with De Quervains on and off and was seeing an orthopedist. I woke up one day and my hand was spasming out of control. Dr. Catalano saw me on his day off and was attentive and caring. He made me feel completely at ease with the fact that I needed surgery ASAP to fix my issues. Going in for surgery during a pandemic was very scary, but Dr. Catalano kept me chatting and laughing throughout the whole thing. After the surgery was over, he followed up with me every 2-3 days without prompting to make sure I was okay, and would answer my questions after hours or on weekends. I would highly, highly recommend Dr. Catalano!

Dr. Catalano helped relieve my ongoing shoulder and bicep tendon issue.. He’s smart, thoughtful, and truly cares about his patients. He spends a generous amount of time with his patients and explains in great detail your options for recovery. I was nervous ahead of my surgery but Dr Catalano helped me feel at ease and I would trust no one else for any hand, arm, shoulder issues.

Dr. Catalano was a life saver for me. I severed 2 blood vessels, a tendon and a nerve in my right index finger and I AM A PROFESSIONAL ARTIST! My biggest nightmare came true. He fixed me up and encouraged me to think positively throughout the whole healing process. He was comforting and super professional. My finger works wonderfully, I can still paint large murals because of his amazing skills as a surgeon and doctor. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs a great hand surgeon and ortho!!

Loved this doctor. He removed a Schwanoma benign tumor from my forearm. When I first went to see him, he was very warm, knowledgeable, and actually had a sense of humor, a quality I often find lacking in physicians. The surgery went off without a hitch and he checked up on me himself the next day. When the biopsy results came in he again called me with the results and the post surgical follow up visit was also great. I would recommend him to anyone without reservation.

My family and I can’t possibly express our eternal gratitude to Dr. Catalano for his incredible knowledge, surgical skills, determination and compassion. He absolutely saved my son from completely losing the use of his hand after an incompetent doctor tightly casted his broken forearm bones (which were already held in place with titanium plates), and caused compartment syndrome that destroyed most of the tendons and muscle in his left arm and hand. Dr. Catalano is absolutely the best of the best, and by far the most competent professional caring doctor I’ve ever encountered! As far as I’m concerned there are not enough accolades to adequately honor him!

Dr. Catalano is an excellent surgeon. He explains things very clearly and likes to exhaust nonsurgical treatments before recommending surgery. For me, these have included physical therapy and cortisone shots. He is very personable and very willing to answer questions. And I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to see him.I first saw Dr. Catalano in 2007. He did a carpal tunnel release on my left hand and the outcome was excellent. In 2012, after physical therapy and cortisone shots, he performed a basal thumb arthroplasty on my left thumb, basically removing some very painful arthritis. This was a success without complications and that thumb continues to feel much better today. On May 20, he performed the same operation on my right thumb, and it is doing great.

Cant recommend Dr. L. Catalano highly enough. My surgery was stress-free and very successful. He repaired my left rotator cuff 13 years ago and my right rotator cuff 3 years ago. Ive been playing golf pain-free, as much and as often as I like. Hes very hands-on and involved with the entire process. Initial examination, surgery and post-op visits. Great personality, expertise and high level of confidence. His entire staff was available and easy to communicate with. Very happy to have found this great surgeon!

Dr. Catalano is a rare combination of an incredible doctor/surgeon and a human being. He is attentive, kind, practical, funny and an excellent surgeon. I have randomly met other patients of his who do nothing but rave about him too. His staff is warm, efficient, effective and I feel very fortunate to have them take care of me.

I met Dr. Catalano for the first time just off a google search of his practice and I couldnt be happier. His staff was incredible, no wait time to see him, and it was the first time in years that I felt he listened to everything that I said. He was interested and made me feel comfortable right off the bat. He was warm, caring and seems like an all around great guy. He even contacted me over the weekend when he wanted me to answer a few questions about past history. His assistant couldnt have been more thorough and didnt make me feel ashamed when I had a lot of questions about my upcoming surgery. I highly recommend him and I look forward for relief of my carpal tunnel with surgery on the 27th. He was able to fit me in at an earlier date than I expected.

Most doctors today are businessmen, but Dr. Catalano is a physician who truly cares about his patients. He cares deeply for his patients and treats them with the utmost care and concern. Dr. Catalano performed 2 surgeries on my husband and had the best bedside manner of any surgeon we have ever worked with, along with personal follow up. Dr. Catalano actually saved my life in 2016, when he diagnosed me with a blood infection that other Drs thought was an orthopedic problem. Dr. Catalano followed up with us on a daily basis until I made a full recovery. In 2018 you would be hard pressed to find a doctor who is so knowledgeable and gives you the old school personal treatment.

After seeing an orthopedic specialist in Staten Island, NY, I was told there was nothing that could be done for the osteoarthritis in my middle finger of the right hand. The knuckle was very inflamed and painful, and I was beginning to have trouble driving a car. Personal research led me to Dr Catalano. An x-ray led to a corticorsteroid injection into the outer or dorsal side of the hand, and now, almost 6 months later, it still feels great and I am pain free. This an update. Its been 2 years since the surgery. Recently I had an injection for a trigger finger on the same hand as the original procedure, and it is back to normal. Still pain free with no motion restrictions. I have basically forgotten about the surgery because the right hand feel fantastic.

Louis W. Catalano III, MD is a brilliant and skillful clinician who listens to his patients. I have been consulting him about my dupuytrens contracture since 2003. He never overpromises. And while hand surgery is never fun, the entire staff at Midtown Surgery Center went out of their way to make my most recent procedure as pleasant as possible. Highly recommended.
