Ive been to multiple specialists for the past year for my wrist and every single health care professional have yet to identify whats wrong with me and when I came to see Mr. Wolfe I was met with mock and insult for not knowing my own problem. I specifically came to see him for answers and instead was met with laughter and ridicule despite the fact I only have two days in NYC. Instead of empathy and understanding I was laughed at by him and his PA. He did apologize after I vented out my frustration but regardless I am left with no answer and have only one more day to figure out my health. I didnt meet with a doctor hence the lack of proper title, I just met someone else who wasted my time and spent it criticizing me.

Im forever grateful to Dr. Wolfe. I had permanent ulnar nerve damage because of a tumor growth. I lost 90% of my right (dominant) hand functionality and strength due to the nerve damage. Dr. Wolfe diligently explained and walked me through the best possible solution to restore the functionality of my right hand. Hes building me a new right hand by transferring 8+ tendons! Its a work of art and Im so blessed for his expertise. His entire staff at HSS is accommodating, organized, professional and efficient. Also to worth mentioning, I was living in 24/7 pain, discomfort and numbness for over a year + which now has disappeared. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Wish there were more stars to give.

READ THIS REVIEW!! I have been working in the O.R. for 27 years. I think its important for you all to know that because I know what its like on the other side. Well, I was on the patient side and I couldnt have been happier. I have logged in 2 surgeries and 13 hours of surgical time and I wouldnt take any of it back even the post-op discomfort for my experience with Dr. Wolfe and his staff!! He is truly the best!! Dr. Wolfe takes the extra time and is truly only worried about one thing, the best possible outcome for his patients, Im living proof. The nerve pain I had for 6 years is gone along with the many other symptoms I suffered from with Parsonage Turner Syndrome. I have now had 3 episodes of PTS and he knew exactly what to do and how to do it, where other doctors have failed for 6 years. His optimism and drive to make his patients better is uncanny. His office is amazing as well, they ALL have been extremely, kind, patient and go above and beyond the scope of what they are supposed to do. I honestly feel like I have received the royal treatment but I know thats how they treat everybody. Its so unfortunate that there are only 5 stars, because I honestly feel that there isnt enough stars for a proper rating for Dr. Wolfe. He is by far the best Ive ever come across and again Ive been in the O.R. for 27 years. I feel very fortunate to have met Dr. Wolfe and even more fortunate hes given me hope and and my life back the way it was before I was injured. Much much love and appreciation for Dr. Wolfe!!!! THANK YOU!!!

Very happy with Dr. Wolfe. He performed surgery on my thumb to remove a mass. First off, the entire office is very efficient and organized and professional, accommodating and available to the patients. The Dr was informative, great bedside manner, and skilled. I was told I would have a long scar along my thumb so I prepared for just an ugly scar. To my surprise, my incision healed so nicely. There is minimal trace. The doctor did a fantastic job!!!

Prior to seeing Dr. Wolfe, I had visited other physicians in New Jersey for a problem with the anterior interosseous nerve in my left arm, which prevented me from moving my left thumb. Some doctors suggested waiting to see if the nerve would heal on its own, another wanted to do an older surgical procedure from which I might have regained some mobility. When I visited Dr. Wolfe, he immediately identified the condition I had, and provided me with a roadmap for treatment, which included a new innovative surgical procedure. Dr. Wolfe is a pioneer in the treatment of this condition, and because of his medical expertise in this field, I have now completely regained full use of my thumb. I am forever thankful to his attention to detail, bedside manner, and the thorough explanations I received every time I visited him. He is definitely a leader in his field, and worthy of not just a 5 star recommendation, but a perfect 10!

Dr. Wolfe came highly recommended and he did not disappoint. The surgery that he performed on my fingers was extraordinary. Also it is important to mention that he recommended hand therapy for two years to see if surgery could be avoided. You know you have a good surgeon when they dont push to operate. I mean come on thats what surgeons do, the mediocre ones, they encourage you to operate. Also, his office is very well run with no wait time for your appointment. He has a very personable staff as well.

I had ulnar nerve transposition 12-17 with Dr Wolfe. I travelled into NYC because of the skill and knowledge he has with nerves and this procedure. Though I did not like the fact that I was never told a student would be in the room and the fact that it took over a year to heal and start lifting again, I realize now how successful the procedure went. It could of went terribly wrong and I have no pain anymore at all.Thank you for all your help!

Dr. Wolfe rebuilt my left wrist and gave me my fingers back. Several tendons had ruptured, the wrist was severely damaged by RA. I found him (divine guidance, perhaps?) he agreed to do the surgery, which was very last minute and only days before Christmas. That day he was scheduled to go on vacation. He spent about five hours in surgery meticulously repairing things, removing things, transferring tendons and more. My fingers have excellent function, are strong and very mobile. Stunningly successful results. Best of all Dr. Wolfe and his staff are genuine, compassionate and caring individuals.

Dr. Wolfe is a doctors doctor. We brought our 13 yo daughter to see him for a second opinion about her wrist after a local hand surgeon recommended arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Wolfe suggested observation which was a welcome surprise. If she needs surgery in the future, I would only use him. Excellent PA, thorough examination and review of five years of records and scans. Highly recommend. Dr Joseph.

If you are reading this, then just like me- youre looking for the best arm and hand surgeon you can find. I will tell you- you found him-I came to Dr. Wolfe- with a serious crushing arm and hand injury from being pulled into a machine. After 3 surgeries from local doctors, my arm and hand was still unusable and further worsend by 4 months of terrible post care. Local doctors had already concluded that my arm would be 50% at best, and probably live with pain for the rest of my life. I felt like I was on the verge of losing any use of my arm.Over the next 4 months and an additional 4 long surgeries with Dr. Wolfe, he systematically rebuilt my hand and arm. Today- I am 100% with no restrictions and no pain. Dr Wolfe did such an excellent job that you can hardly notice anything ever happened.Dr. Wolfe is not only the foremost expert in the field- he is a kind and concerned Doctor that takes the time to listen to you. Dr. Wolfe makes sure that you understand the treatment plan every step of the way. The emotional and physical care he showed during such a trying time- gave me the opportunity to do my part and get back to living life again.Forever grateful to Dr. WolfeGabe Capobianchi

This is not a rating of Dr.Wolfe, but the front desk. I was skiing in Switzerland when My wife broke an arm, and was promptly operated there. Unfortunately, a week after arriving back to NYC, I was informed by her Swiss surgeon that the surgery didnt go well and I must see a local surgeon ASAP, to correct whatever didnt go well. That had to be done in a matter of a week.Fortunately, Dr.Wolfe responded to e.mail to see as promptly. Unfortunately, when I called to schedule an appointment, his secretary issued the list of demands that we have to provide, such as complete post surgical reports and X-rays. After emailing whatever we were given in Switzerland, the same secretary said thats not enough, and unless we sent her more info, she will not show it to Dr.Wolfe, and we will need to look for another doctor. So much for the urgency of the case. Needless to say, after failed attempts to contact a Swiss hospital for more info, that had also be translated into English, we could not see Dr.Wolfe.

Dr Wolfe is one of the most amazing surgeons I have ever come across. I was recommended by him for a revision on my ulnar nerve which was unsuccessfully performed by a local surgeon. Dr. Wolfe performed a battery of tests which are not available locally to determine that the nerve was placed in the way of scar tissue and therefore was blocked from firing. He performed surgery and within two days later I began to have feeling in the back of my paralyzed numb pinky for the first time in eight months! While recovery is a long arduous process, the nerve is in the right place and my hand is no longer clawing and after four months the pain level has subsided to a manageable level. He is not a surgeon who will open you up for no reason - he first evaluates whether there are other avenues to explore. He is in an elite category for this type of surgery and I would highly recommend him to anyone who is struggling with ulnar nerve issues.

On my honeymoon I met an Orthopedic Surgeon who recommended that I visit HSS to discuss my scaphoid non-union. I made the appt and met Dr. Wolfe and it was immediately apparent that he is the best in his field. He surgically repaired my non-union (which was already treated with surgery by another doctor). My scaphoid is now healed. I learned that there are doctors and then there are doctors who are the best in their field. His reputation speaks for itself and I consider myself lucky to have been treated by him.
