This medical center has greatly improved since I first started coming here in the 1990s. The renovations and upgrades have been awesome & the quality of care is much improved. Its staffing has been fixed & the personel are very helpful & friendly.

“Ambassador of first impressions” fail compared to VA locations in other states I was disappointed. Safety wasn’t always observed eg x Ray. Some of the doctors and nurses even security personnel are fine but much of the staff are indifferent to patient care I’ve come to conclusion after 3 days here

The VA here in Florida seems to be the best care and attention I have received. Ive been to a bunch and lived here for 3 years now. Even during covid 19 I had to make the trip to the ER here. They had me in and out in about and hour. I even had a small procedure done. Thank you!

Respectful, attentive and professional staff. The RNs and Doctors I visited today were all Vets themselves, (A big ***** in my book!) and they each went above and beyond! All other staff and employees I dealt with were equally helpful and helped to make a very stressful situation much more bearable. I thank them one and all!

Brittany was very rude! What is the purpose of asking someone how you can help if you are just going to just transfer inappropriately?? Wow. Back to square 1...

An old hospital with cutting edge medical care. If the specialized care you need does not exist within these walls, or cannot be outsourced from the major health centers surrounding this hospital, you will be hard-pressed to find it anywhere in the world. My husbands care is always a delicate balance with many emergencies and hospitalizations...he is a living testament to the quality and expertise of care available at Bruce.W. Carter V.A. Hospital.Nothing is perfect in this world, but by advocating strongly for yourself and your loved ones, by using the proper channels...you WILL receive some of the best care this country has to offer!I am sick and tired of people bashing the V.A. system. God Bless All who work here!

There are some very excellent doctors and nurses at this facility. Unfortunately there are some doctors and nurses that don’t know what they’re doing and are there just for a paycheck. Once you’ve been there a few years you’ll get to know who the good ones are and who the bad ones are just choose the good ones, unfortunately that’s the way it is. They do have cutting edge technology here. Finding parking between 9 AM and 11:30 AM is their biggest problem.

Ive had to come here for several reasons now in various departments and while the service is quick (where I went and on those days) there has to be something better for the people that has served this country. For one the hospital itself can use a facelift all around. Ive gone to other VA locations for other reasons that didnt pertain to me and the hospitals are immaculate. So to me its Miami Dade that isnt taking care of what they need to. If you travel just a little north, the location on Commercial looks completely different. dont know where the budget is going but it certainly isnt going to the veterans. You practically have to play dead just to get any type of assistance out of them.A few years back I had to visit a friend that was admitted due to his sickle cell, just to see him in a closet of a hospital room. II know from experience someone that is supposed to receive psychological treatment on a weekly basis but is allowed to come at their leisure. I understand that they deal with people from all walks of life. However the very people that you are intimidated by could be doing harm on the outside. Scared doctors shouldnt be treating doctors. In short, I considered making a VA physician my primary physician but I think I will go forego that idea and stick with my private primary care physician. I hope that someday it gets better.

Recently had (hand & wrist) surgery and am extremely please, to date, with the outcome performed by Dr Anne-Sophie Lessard and her team (Dr Ammara Grumman, & others who’s name(s) escapes me). I was apprehensive at first, but Dr Lessard’s (superb) demeanor and outstanding bedside manner immediately put me at easy after my first office visit. In a world where everyone tends to rush, she (and her team) takes the time to listen and explain things without rushing; excellent Dr(s) who I would trust with future procedures. Thank you VA Hand Clinic!
