Great Staff. I am a front liner as i work in the Emergency Room and became critically ill after contracting Covid-19. I was intubated in July 2020 and I arrived at Select Miami on September 3rd and it was the best decision we could have made. The Staff was very caring and compassionate. They helped me to get off the ventilator after 5 long months and get me back on my feet walking. The Physical Therapy Dept is extraordinary. They were very supportive and showed a level a professionalism I had never seen in my 31 years of being in the Medical field. I highly recommend Select Miami for all your rehab needs.

I had been in the hospital for about 1 1/2 month due to having a complication of covid. I had to be intubated at another hospital and honestly wasnt expected to make it. I was scared, apprehensive and didnt have the best care (not from the drs) but from the staff. As I was almost giving up. A gentleman came in my room and asked if I was willing to be transferred to a specialty hospital. As I was almost giving up and wanted to get out of that hospital I agreed. About an hour later Johnny the liason for select specialty hospital miami came in and spoke to my husband and I. He was an angel that was send to save me. He didnt leave until 9pm until all my tests were done and paperwork and at 1qm I was transferred. As I arrived there I was apprehensive and a little scared due ro my prior experience. But I was so wrong. I was treated with dignity, care, compassion and love. I have never experienced this at a hospital. It was the first night in weeks that I was able to sleep. The RNs, (miguel, lavoy Barbara, kreffe) and others I dont remember their name cnas Respiratory techs, the ot and pt (chinitos) and the drs (dr. M ojeda, Ms white, dr. Shea. And my lung specialist) I couldnt ask for better treatment. No waiting on a call light, no complaining cause you needed help of any kind, you asked for something and they will go out of their way to provide it. Im so happy they found me and I had the opportunity to experience this kind of treatment. This is how a facility should be run.Thank you after 3 weeks Im home.

This is the best place weve found yet for my father. We had a poor experience at Select Specialty in Lake Worth and he was deteriorating mentally and physically. This is the same company but its nothing like the other facility. They have really high standards here! Also, almost all the nurses are Latin and seem much more compassionate than up in Palm Beach County. We moved my father to the Miami (not Miami Lakes) location as a referral from someone who spoke highly of the facility. After months of being on a feeding tube, they had him eating normal foods the first Monday the speech therapist saw him! Hes made great strides since then and is gaining weight and his mental situation is improving. The majority of the staff is really compassionate.Ms. White is incredible, Iris the speech is the reason hes back eating/improving and Ivette one of his nurses is awesome. There are more but Ive forgotten some names.PS: The visiting hours are 2-6PM and the staff isnt rude about kicking you out etc...Tips:- Get a room with the bed facing towards the window so your loved one might get to see outside well.- Pick this location over Miami Lakes. This ones doctor is linked to Mt. Sinai which is a huge advantage.- There is a parking garage under the building if you dont park on the street.- Its freezing inside so be sure bring a jacket/sweater.- Each rooms AC unit can be adjusted by staff which can make the room a little warmer. Itll still be cold due to the hallway but that might help your loved one.- With permission you can set up a Facebook portal which can be used as a video conferencing platform to be able to see them through calling.Cons:- The TV channels are terrible. Couldnt watch the football game with my dad even. No CNN/NBC/ESPN. At minimum they should hook up some Smart TVs with Internet based cable. Lots of options now.- Would be nice if they decorated the rooms/painted them different colors etc... Some things like that would help the mental state of people a lot instead of all the rooms looking so much like a hospital... Plants/Flowers/Nice paint... I think it helps..

I am writing this because I want to express my sincere appreciation and was very pleased with my experience with Select Specialty Hospital Miami as a family member. I can be a hard critic of hospital care places and the staff employed by them since i myself work in the medical field. This time is my first time to write a review i can tell that this hospital was a world away from previous experiences elsewhere. It was good to be treated with professionalism and caring medical staff. When I say the doctors and all the other employees of this hospital made me and my whole family feel that my mother in safe hands and made it as comfortable as they possibly could. This was the best team of medical staff, ( doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dietician, respiratory and rehab therapists), administration and case managers were very supportive of all family decisions and you can just believe they are the best. I am truly grateful and I appreciated all the willingness to answer questions, provided daily updates, get the problems resolved and treated my mother with respect, compassionate and tender loving care. Because they really do care. Thank you so much for providing such wonderful service and for providing with an exceptional experience.

I just wanted to thank the staff at Select Specialty Hospital Miami for taking such great care of my aunt when she was very ill. I could tell that the staff worked very well as a team and ensured that she received high quality care. I also appreciate to have the opportunity to see my aunt via facetime since i live here in Germany. Thank you again for being so compassionate!

Communication with my family and friends is surely significant to me. There was a time when I was busy with summer assignments, not able to have the chance to visit my grandmother at the hospital. I am filled with joy when I found out that this hospital allows me to facetime/video call my lovely grandma. This hospital has excellent staff members as well, who each has a golden heart.

EXCELLENT IN EVERY POSSIBLE WAY!My mother got transferred from another local hospital in where we had a horrific experience, she was on the ventilator, unconscious, had 4 tubes in her body, had really bad bed soars, and very critically ill due to COVID. We, as a family were desperate. When she was accepted at Select Specialty Hospital we did our due diligence, we requested a list of the doctors associated with this hospital that the insurance covered and we chose Dr. Manuel Ojeda and his team (Dr. Vaca and Ms. White) as a primary doctor and Dr. Ignacio Sendan. This new team of doctors were very Knowledgeable and diligent and we started seeing progress since day one. The staff is extremely hard working, KIND and HUMAN. Here wounds were cured within days, and the whole 2 months she was there she did not get any new wound as the team of nurses and CNA were so clean and precise on moving her every 2 hours, and my mother was spotless clean the whole time she was there. The Physical Therapy department is outstanding, my mother felt well taken care of and loved. The hospital was very clean, every single day, I even saw once how a supervisor was going on every room with a neon light looking for hidden marks she personally left with a special invisible gel all over the rooms. My mother recovered thank God she is now in a Rehab facility and I am forever grateful

Nursing dont speak English what so ever... The doctors treat black people with little to no respect. My mother was treated as a burden and WASNT CLEANED FOR 4 Days straight. The case manager and social workers will lie to you and tell you something will be done about it and nothing will change .They will tell you that will receive a letter from there vice president of the select specialty group and you wont .Then when you advanced therapy and care they lie to you and tell you the only place that will accept both of you insurance companies is their sister hospital in Coral gables. BIG LIE!!!will talk about you in front of you not knowing I SPEAK SPANISH!!!My mother has nerve damage but the nursing didnt care they were rough with my mother anyways.ALSO I was there everyday because I was afraid to leave my mother alone with them. There was a woman I can hear everyday constantly screaming asking for and pressing her nurse call buttton, only to be ignored and have nurses walk past her room.SMH. After my mother wasnt cleaned for FOUR DAYS STRAIGHT I HAD MY SISTER TAKE MY MOM BATH.AS her first born son trying to protect my mother there was nothing I can do to help my mother.Below is an image of my mothers bath water after she was cleaned by sister.it was shown to the staff and no one cared.

Visiting this place for the last month to monitor health and care of a patient in my caseload hospitalized in this Center. I always arrived at different times of the day, including nights and/or weekends, finding responsible and serious staff team providing excellent care to my patient (even when my visit is not expected). Clean, attentive & professional staff. This Center is very recommended for what seems complying with high quality standards of care.

This is the second long term acute care hospital our family member has stayed and it is superior to the first one. We are happy our family member is making progress in their recovery since coming to Select. The nurses and CNAs are highly skilled and caring and respond quickly to patient needs. Specialist PAs and doctors are informative and take time to explain procedures, medications and answer questions. The hospital is clean and well managed and this allows staff to focus on providing outstanding patient care. Highly recommend this hospital!Physical and Occupational therapists are superior. They know exactly what exercises are best and take time to explain everything and allow for rests in between each exercise. They are encouraging, understanding and have a cheerful attitude which makes even the hard exercises a little easier.

We came to Select from the ICU at Kendall Regional Hospital and the service here as been exceptional. The first week we were here we were still overcoming many challenges and issues that were not corrected at Kendall Regional Hospital “ICU”. The Doctors, Nurses, Physical Therapist and staff have been professional every step of the way. They are bilingual and easy to communicate with. They have been compassionate, caring and genuine with with our family. When we were first came here I was uncertain of our father’s health due to not only the brain injury, but as well as the heart attack he suffered and quickly the doctors but their attention on our father and after the first week we saw a difference in his health, performance and mental status. Today we move on to the next chapter in our father’s recovery and we are certain that he will recover 100% to where he was. I We are certain that if you choose this specialty hospital for your loved one, you will be 100% satisfied. Thank you Select Hospital And Medical staff !! The Moreno and Williams Family.

This place was a horror story. The place is old, incapable of caring for people that cannot help themselves, and is extremely unhygienic.Place had no running water when arrived.Do not come here. Stay in the hospital, go home, or go to a nice nursing home.Since he had an infection and a big wound on his back we were sure he would not make it far there. Had to remove my dad against medical advice since they refused to remove him. As soon as they caught whiff we were doing this, they stopped everything including checking his sugar levels and any absolutely necessary heart medicine. No vengan aquí, es un desastre el lugar. Quédense en el hospital común o vallan a casa.

This place is absolutely horrible! A representative came to speak to me at my mothers bedside saying he was a doctor with a lab coat and all! It is beyond me why they find the need to lie about something like that. This is something that should not be allowed. I unfortunately did not have the time to tour and I absolutely regretted it from the moment I stepped into the facility. Their location is definitely not the best, the place is dirty, they let anyone in, and the care my mother received is the bare minimum, she wouldve been better off at a nursing home. My advice to you is DO NOT LISTEN to what their representative tries to sell you, do your own homework and make sure you tour all the facilities.

My mom was in this facility for one and a half months. She arrived with a feeding tube, a trach, a neck collar, and unable to walk. She left left the trach only and some mobility. Although there is a large staff of Hispanic speakers, there are a few that speak Haitian-Creole or are from other countries. The staff treated my mom with dignity and respect. In particular, the respiratory therapists (Edmund Graham and the many others), RNs (Ileana Alvarez and a few others), and the CNAs (Felix and so many others). They are efficient in changing soiled sheets and ensuring that my mom was clean. Her trach care was on point and consistent throughout the night. If family plans to sleep over as I did regularly, they are very accommodating in terms of providing sheets, blankets, towels, etc. As with any facility, family advocacy is critical. You must be there for your loved one and advocate for their needs.I have no real complaints about this place other than the parking situation. The sub-ground garage is a plus, but gets packed in the mornings. Early evenings and beyond or early mornings before 7 AM are the best times to find parking. Street parking is also available, but you do so at your own risk and many of the streets are one ways and cars are jammed up and down the street as is common in many older Miami neighborhoods (no fault of Select). It is what it is.Maria, the case manager was very professional- maintaining regular, timely communication throughout the process. She went to bat for my mom, taking on all of her insurance companies in effort to get them to pay for the ambulance rides to her medical appointments. Although she lost the battle, she helped us win the war as the CEO encumbered the cost on our behalf.Overall, I am glad that we selected Select Specialty Hospital as our long term care facility of choice.

A year ago this February, My dad was Transfered on a resperator after a hip surgery complication. They have an LTACH unit within Victoria hospital called SELECT. The hospital have really great and dedicated nurses there that work very hard. My dad after 3-4 weeks in LTACH recovered. There was one negative issue I experienced with a staff member and unfortunately sometimes horrible people like that taint the hard work of the real good nurses or the intire hospital. The issue was with a nursing assistant that terrorized the employees there, not to mention the horrible way she treated the patients and guests; but I addressed it with the Director who was understanding and equally upset of this behavior. The Director there is approachable to speak to by keeping an open door policy. After speaking to him the issue was quickly rectified. My dad then, after recovering, was transferred to the rehabilitation side of this building for his needed hip rehab, which is Victoria. He did well and Recieved great care. Shortly after he was discharged and was brought home. His recovery was truly a miracle... partly by the wonderful staff that took care of him, the other reason is because he has a loving family that stuck by him even when the doctors were saying “prepare for the worst!”Thank you Victoria for all you have done! The nurses and staff that had direct contact with my Dad are awesome! I dont know how to repay them for all they have done.My dad continues to do well and is living at home with me.

Making an institution work fully is only possible if it has competent workers who carry out their work with discipline, professionalism and love. This is the case of Select Hospital. All services reach a high qualification for me, from medical and paramedical personnel to those who perform other tasks.Really, the experience lived as a patient at this center is also contributing to my recovery. For this reason I want, through these simple lines, to put on record and, thanks ... I cannot mention them all, but yes, especially to Dr. Ojeda, Dr. White, the nurses Odalis., Ileana, Bárbara, Doris and Osmani. The assistants, Juliet, Juana, Olga and Sara. The therapists Alicia and Aliocha, Nancy from respiratory, anyway, everyone.I congratulate you for providing an excellent service !!!THANK YOU THOUSANDS !!!

MY EXPERIENCE WAS GOOD, BUT .... if you had to take care of patients at home, would you do that job ??? I dont think so, because many of these families are not even with the patients, and when they go it is only to complain without seeing how difficult it is to work with such long-stay patients with chronic diseases. You have to be 24 hours. To know how much sacrifice they make with your family. Thank you
