Kent SAVED my hair after another stylist absolutely butchered it. He also cut my daughters hair as well. I can wait to go back and get my hair trimmed! It’s been YEARS since I’ve found a stylist that can handle my thick wavy/curly hair.

Kent is the best! He listened to what I wanted and gave me a great haircut. I usually leave a salon wanting to immediately go home to re-style it but Kent did such a great job, I was sorry I didnt have errands to run! And the price was very reasonable. I will definitely go back!

Kent did a great job! I have wavy hair and wanted to get a cut that really let the texture shine through, and my haircut here allowed that to happen for the first time ever! I also got caramel colored highlights which look absolutely beautiful in the sunlight. Altogether, a very pleasant experience.

I had an AMAZING experience with Kent, the owner! I called last minute and he got me right in same day in a Saturday. Our morning was full of conversation and I felt truly valued as a client. He gave me and my crazy amount of hair the time it needed to result in the perfect cut I was looking for! I have lots of frizz in my hair and he took time to explain the best ways for me to control it and taught me how to bring out my natural curls. I have never seen my curls looking this great. Kent was genuine, friendly, and a professional. Will be going back for sure!

Read many reviews of manhattan salons before choosing this one for my cut and color. The reviews were 100% right, Kent the owner is an absolute gem.I was a little worried at first bc I had gone in wanting a bayalage, but he steered me away from that in a professional way based on everything else I said I wanted (not wanting my hair to turn Orange again in a couple months, healthier, color matching more of my true hair color with dimension). I have never been so satisfied with a cut and color in the past 5 years!! He got EXACTLY what I wanted, and he cut my hair exactly the way I wanted (I’m super picky, I never like my haircuts). Definitely go and support this small business! Kent is also just a stand up guy in general, it was a pleasure getting to know him during my appointment.

Brandy is amazing!!! I decided late Sunday night that I needed to get my hair cut. I called Hair Shapers Monday morning and Brandy was able to get me in the same day. Brandy is fantastic. I didnt have a plan or a concrete idea with what I wanted to do with my hair so she gave some suggestions and made sure I was completely comfortable with the plan before even picking up the scissors. Brandys attention to detail was appreciated. I hate it when you go in for a haircut and the person cutting your hair hurries through the appointment because he or she was running behind or didnt schedule enough time. Im never satisfied with the end result when that happens. Brandy purposefully scheduled enough time so that we would not be rushed. She was invested in making sure that my hair looked great and I walked out of the hair salon completely in love with my new haircut. Her prices are extremely reasonable and I will be going back to Brandy for my next haircut.

Very nice man, very friendly. However I am not the most impressed with my highlights. I really wanted to like my hair but he was a little out of practice on doing foils. And I left with my hair cut way more than I wanted and uneven layers when I specifically asked for him not to cut the layers just the length. The color of my highlights looks great though. Overall my experience was decent, price was good.

Kent was amazing!! I wasnt sure what to expect since Ive never had a Deva cut before but i was astonished at how well he did and how awesome my hair looks. He even gave me a little science lesson on how hair follicles function and whatnot

I went here recently and it was my first time dying my hair in a salon. I had Brandy do my hair and she did a wonderful job. Along with a very successful bleach, she gave helpful tips on how to keep my hair healthy and moisturized. Next time I get my hair done, I will definitely think to go here before anywhere else.

I went and got my hair colored and highlighted here this morning and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. My hair looks great and it came out exactly like I wanted. Kent was an absolute joy to talk to and I would recommend him to anyone!P.S. When you go (which Im sure you will), make sure to ask Kent what got him started in cosmetology.. it will give you a good laugh

I had an AMAZING experience at Hair Shapers! Kent was incredible. I was not 100% certain on what tone of blonde would look best with my skin tone and he knew exactly what to do. The atmosphere was relaxing and everyone just seemed super nice. I live closer to Kansas City and was in Manhattan for the weekend. I went in looking for a deva cut(dry cut), and was very pleased with the results. As someone with curly hair, I am very picky with how my hair is cut. Kent did an amazing job and was very friendly as well. If you have curly hair, I highly suggest you give the deva cut a try. You wont regret it!

As an African-American in Kansas it isnt easy to find a reliable hair salon outside the well-known metro areas.I called this morning and Kent gladly got me in the days schedule right away. I went in and was tended to by Erin. She was amazing!!! She fixed the few snafus left from the last stylist as well as helped me get my faux hawk to stand up the way that I wanted. Kent and Erin even gave me a sample product to try to see if it helps and told me to feel free to come in if Id like to buy a larger bottle of it.They have officially earned a new fan, promoter, and loyal customer.

I have been going to Alyssa to get my hair done for a decade. This business is located in Candlewood Shopping Center in a mainly residential area.The shop has changed owners 3 times. I call Alyssa on her cell to make appts. Her expertise and friendly manor make going there a nice experience.

The first time I went to Hair Shappers I was wanting a certain hairstyle. I was told that it could not be done. That I needed to wash out a color that was professionally done 8 months ago due to my hair would not dye right. The color in my hair was at the bottom of my hair and was washed out enough that it would not wash out if I tried. I went to another salon and was able to get my hair dyed it was not like the picture but real close and done perfectly. Even if a person comes in with something they would like to do and it is not something that will dye right GIVE SUGGESTIONS!! That was all I wanted and you could have had my business.

This was the biggest waste of money. Went in for a cut and color and was told that what I was wanting to do couldnt be done so we would have to go another route. After rushing thru that process and a few days later most of the color they did put in is already gone. Met with another salon and they told me thats ridiculous and that the color I was wanting could easily be done. Once I get this new coloring done I will post pictures of hair shapers vs the other salon so you can be the judge.

I woke up one morning and decided I really wanted something different with my hair. I called around and decided to go to the first place that could take me that day. I showed Kent a few pictures of what I had in mind and walked out with the most gorgeous cut and color. It was exactly what I wanted. A very subtle, natural looking ombre to a dark auburn color. I would definitely reccomend this place to anyone wanting to get some color done!!

Alyssa Schurle has been doing my hair for over a decade. She ran a coupon for 15% off her services and I used it. Yesterday,I made an appt with her when she was using her cell phone at her home. She was waiting on the curb by the disabled parking spot in front of the shop. She helped me get inside and then to the shampoo area next to the handicapped accessible for the disabled bathroom. She adjusted the seat of the shampoo chair and got my oxygen concentrator set up Alyssa cheerfully asked for my presences on how to proceed i.e. did I want to dye my hair or just get a cut. She has dyed my grey hair many times before but I just need a cut. We went her hair cutting chair. She cut and styled my hair in 44 minutes! It looked great !! I paid by credit card. It was under $40.00!She helped me on with my coat,places my oxygen concentrator on my rolls for walker and helped me get into my car.5 Stars!! This small salon is in the Candlewood Shopping Center off Seth Childs Blvd in Manhattan,Ks. The confusing thing is that there are two different shops called Hair Shapers in this shopping area. THair Shapers has about 6 stylists who provide hair and manicure service.This other one is Hair Shapers and Spa.Hair Shapers is between Sylvan Learning Center and Early Edition restaurant,near Daras Fastlane.It has free avaible parking.
