Dr. Tamano has been seeing me for several years. He offers solutions for my depression and he discuses with me the advantages and disadvantages to each option. He takes his time with me. Ive never felt rushed. He is able to answer all of my questions adequately and in terms I can understand. I trust Dr. Tamano completely. He makes me feel like hegenuinely cares about me and is only offering solutions that he feels confident in. I will remain a patient of Dr. Tamano for as long as I requirephyciatric help

(+10 year patient) Dr. Tamano takes his time to listen, asks responsible questions, makes (non-medication based) suggestions for home care, and stays current on all of the latest psychiatric news, trends, and treatments. Even if I moved out-of-state, Id find a way to keep him as my psychiatrist.

My life has DRASTICALLY changed since I started seeing Dr. Tamano. I literally credit him for giving me back my life. He’s knowledgeable, well-spoken, sensitive, professional but friendly. He isn’t loud or aggressive which I appreciate. I have suffered for several years because I lost faith in psychiatrists. It’s hard for me to trust anyone, let alone, a psychiatrist. One hour is all it took for him to gain my trust. I went from living in my closed house, rarely coming out...to going to the gym 4-5 days a week, being able to be in public without the comfort of my husband. I can take my kids to appointments now without having my husband take time off of work, I don’t feel like I’m having a heart attack several times a day, I’m sleeping better than I have in years. Prior to seeing Dr Tamano, I would cry for hours a day, I haven’t cried once since seeing him. He is such a blessing! I have complex issues and he knew all about each one. If you are suffering, please do yourself a favor and see Dr Tamano. He truly cares for his patients.

I’m quite surprised at all these great reviews. Some may dismiss my criticism of Dr. Tamano as just my own personal experience and chock it all up to me, but that doesn’t change what happened.Dr. Tamano didn’t seem to know how to help me. He gave gave me different prescriptions for over ten different medications including three different benzodiazepines. Like others have noted in their poor reviews of him, he always seemed like he was irritated. He was not friendly or kind that I could remember and he didn’t seem to really do anything other than prescribe meds. He mentioned that I should try ECT for depression when he knew that my main problem was OCD. I went ahead and tried it with the help of his equally lousy and poorly rated partner Dr. Aznorouva. I swear he was probably getting some kind of kickback from this as was she.The ECT helped with some of my mood swings but it also caused these weird, severe, overwhelming episodes where I would feel sick and ashamed. I can’t explain it any other way. And eventually it wore off. I decided not to keep doing the treatments because of the horror stories I heard of prolonged ECT treatment. A nurse where I received the ECT was incredibly rude to me when I told her I would not be coming back for another appointment. How does this affect her? Why does she care? I don’t understand.Anyhow, on my last appointment with Dr. Tamano he seemed frustrated and told me something along the lines of “maybe you need a doctor with better rapport”. He then told me that no one else in his practice would see me. This was devastating. While I have a lot of issues (mental and neurological) I am not what I would deem a difficult patient. I came to Dr. Tamano for help and was essentially fired by him, and it feels like from the entire Psychiatry Associates of KC team.I don’t know where to go anymore for help.

Dr. Tamano was specifically referred to me by my prior doctor of over 6 years....who was the greatest person on earth and was happening to retire. Asking who can I go to now? She gave me a list of replacement doctors which were in the neighborhood of about 50 doctors and singled him out of all, then smiled and said I think you will like this guy and took her highlighter and circled his name, she must have seen something in him and highly referred him to me. She was right, he is great doctor who asks all the right questions about how I feel, physically, mentally and hows life in general, but what had me convinced was that he makes the same face as my prior doctor when Im explaining. Its a facial expression of truly listening and not to crap on other doctors but I have seen a few in my days and you can tell when a doctor just wants you to leave cause they say UHU Yeah after everything you say. Am I right. Its a 50 mile round trip and I enjoy it every time cause I know Im getting the help I need cause Ive cried it all my life. And Im getting it from him. Great Doctor. Thanks Doctor Campbell, you were spot on, he is a cool guy. :)

Dr. Tamano is a caring doctor and one of the best that I have ever had, which is why I continue to stick with him. I have seen many doctors and even thought it has taken me a long time to get on the right track, he is supportive and patient.

Dr. Tamano is a phenomenal psychiatrist! Not only is he ALWAYS on time, it is easy to get in to see him -- you dont have to wait weeks or months for an appt. My previous psychiatrist was a prescription-writer and never bothered to ask how I was doing or how the medication was working. Dr. Tamano is interested in whats going on in my life, how I am feeling, and what changes I feel we should make. He has decades of experience and actually listens to his patients. Since making the switch to Dr. Tamano, my depression has almost entirely resolved and my anxiety is at an all time low, even AFTER he took me off of 2 benzodiazepines (highly abused and addictive medications). Dr. Tamano is the only psychiatrist I will ever see. He has turned my life around.

I called Dr Tamano’s office and they were incredibly rude. Like laughable rude. They refused to even take my bf in as a patient just because he had previously gone to JCMH and they let him go cause he was not really qualified to receive services with them because his financial situation is way better off than most people who go there.I let Dr Tamanos office know this and they plain out said with a disgusted tone of voice that they do not accept any patients who may have at one point gone to JCMH. I told her we have Blue Cross Blue Shield and she scoffed and said they will not see anyone one who has ever stepped foot in JCMH.Imagine going to school for psychiatry and being a disgusting human being and treat people with mental illness like disgusting burdens. Go give them your money if you want but I wouldn’t put my mental health or that of any relative in the hands of such cold and calculated people with no empathy or customer service etiquette.
