Bad experience here. Ive been a total of 3-5 times for random reasons. Every time I go here the front desk staff is rude, the NP is rushing, and I have to wait at least 15-20 mins for my appt to start. They never want to solve the problem, they just prescribe medication left and right. Typical doctors office nowadays.

Congratulations to Midtown Family Medicine, Sike Style Industries and the VFW for its big, beautiful mural (southeast corner of the building) - it is gorgeous and really captures the Midtown Family Medicine mission to serve an #inclusive, #diverse population - so excited to have watched it progress and now it greets us on Broadway! thank you for making this happen

I see Peggy and found her by googling good care in Kansas City. I come from Seattle where the care is very quick and very impersonal. Peggy cares, listens, and her care is personal. If she cannot treat you she will refer you to where you need to seek care for your exact problem. Christian her MA is caring as well and can make you smile before you see the provider but makes sure to ask all the important questions.

My husband and I have been seeing Mary Martin for years and can honestly say you will never get medical attention like this anywhere else. Mary Martin has always taking good care of us and her care her knowledge and compassion is more than I have ever received anywhere in my life. Everybody always gets on sites and reviews people badly so I want everyone to know that this practiss is top notch. I travel over an hour to use mactan family medicine as my primary physicians due to their care. I can never say and up good things about Mary Martin, and doctor Thompsons staff and practus is the best around

Beware cash paying patients: Called to schedule an appointment and found out that it is office policy not to accept patients that dont have insurance, even if you pay cash. This isnt like an emergency/hospital situation where you dont know what problems you might encounter. I would be completely willing to pay before my visit. Kind of a sad indicator of our broken medical/insurance system.

Words can hardly express the relief and gratitude I feel after one visit at this practice. Ive got a whole host of medical issues, while not life threatening they make life difficult. I have had some terrible Doctors who have done extreme harm and not listened, not found solutions or therapies or medications. This office is NOT one of those places. I went in to the office drowning and I came out treading water. If you want a Doctor to speak plainly, have open discourse and give you full and comprehensive care, this is the place for you. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and incredibly supportive and kind. They genuinely care about the person that walks through the door. Update: Several months in to being a patient in this practice and I wake up every day healthier in mind and body than the day before because of the quality of care I receive. My physician calls me HERSELF to check on me, my comfort, my progress. She genuinely is concerned and cares about my quality of life, I hear and feel the compassion in her voice. If you are looking for excellent care, this is the place.

After seeing the reviews I was extremely hopeful. Sadly I was wrong.I was recently placed on disability and so I was searching for a new primary care doctor. I told all this to the receptionist who took my call. I told her I needed to refill prescriptions and asked if there would be a problem. She said no and scheduled me for the next day which was great. When I arrived and while I was filling out paperwork 2 separate patients were sent away because of scheduling problems.Once I was called back I was interviewed by a nurse. She went through my intake forms which seemed fairly normal until she says in front of my 7yr old daughter who was with me I see on your paperwork that you take marijuana . My daughter glanced up, and I told your nurse that the paperwork asked about any prior drug use and that years ago I did smoke. Thanks for making me have that conversation in front of my 7 year old....Once the nurse practitioner came in she started also asking me questions. This time about prescribed medication from my psychiatrist (which in my opinion has no bearing on why I was there). The whole thing felt very sterile and uncaring, as well as a bit accusatory. While speaking with me and asking about prior surgeries and medical issues, a knock on the door came and she was called out of the room for several minutes. When she came back in she tells me she is running behind and its my fault for taking so long to fill out the paperwork. And because of this we need to end the appointment and that she only felt comfortable writing prescriptions for my blood pressure medicine. She never performed any kind of physical exam or even asked how I was feeling. It was very obvious that she didnt care.I guess one of the main reasons this is so frustrating is because it is already a terribly difficult task to change insurances and finding new doctors. As I mentioned I had called beforehand and asked all of these questions regarding insurance, bedside manner, prescriptions, etc... before I showed up so I wouldnt be wasting my time. I had already spent hours at at 2 different doctors in the past couple weeks only to find insurance problems, and prescription issues. Which is why I started asking ahead of time.Your office is more than 20 miles from my home and holding my head up straight to drive is pure murder right now so believe me when I say it took a lot for me to make the trip.It was such a bad experience that I am honestly tempted to contact the insurance company and explain to the my issues and ask them to deny payment based on my experience.

Impossible to get in contact with anyone there. Requested an in-office appointment in May for a condition which cannot be diagnosed by phone. No one ever called me back. I am out of maintenance medication and attempted to access the office again via their website yesterday and today. Im unable to get on the site, although Ive been using it for years. I have to see the nurse practitioner every 3 months and cant get an appointment because Im somehow locked out of their site and no one communicates with me. If I can get someone on the phone tomorrow, Ill have to try to get in early so their preferred pharmacy can pick up my prescription in person - the doctor, whom Ive never met in the 12 years Ive been going there, refuses to give me a written prescription to take to the pharmacy near where I live because he doesnt like CVS or Walgreens. I am hostage to his choice of Albers Pharmacy. My insurance refuses to pay for my script because it insists I should be taking a different medication for my condition. My insurance company notified the clinic of this, which my nurse practitioner said would only require a letter from the clinic, but no explanation was ever provided to the insurance company. So insurance refuses to pay.The condition for which I need to be seen in person has worsened. And now, if Im lucky enough to receive a return call and an early appointment, Ill have to take off work and my pay will be docked. Thanks MFM.

MFM is a real family medical practice. I feel like I grew up there and now my children are growing up with them also. The culture of this clinic is caring and respectful, the practitioners are present and engaged, and really take to heart their role and impact in the community. It feels like extended family. Dr. Thompson isnt taking new patients but is very conscientious of care quality and patient experience, and actively fosters a (physically, emotionally, and socially) healthy environment. Youre in good care no matter which practitioner treats you. I cannot overstate the value MFM has added to my life and my family.

I am a 45 year old male and I have never been someone who went to the doctor much and have never been hospitalized (knock on wood!). I have been to a lot of different doctors and PAs over the years and have gotten by OK. I have never taken any medicines or supplements for more than a few weeks in my life. Basically, Blue Cross and Blue Shield was making a killing on me because I wasnt really spending any money on any type of preventative health care. I moved to Kansas City a couple years ago and was having a few minor issues so I decided it was time I got a family physician and figured it would be difficult to find someone who wasnt too busy to care. After asking around I was referred to Dr. Gary Thompson. I have been going to Dr. Thompsons office for 3 months now and even though I havent actually met Dr. Thompson, Marcy is awesome and I am more than 100% satisfied. She has done a very comprehensive blood analysis that was incredibly helpful to give us insight as to what was causing my problems. She spends at least half an hour with me each time I go in and is easy to get a non-emergency appointment with - usually within a day or two. I never have to wait in the lobby for more than 10 minutes for my scheduled appointment after checking in and they dont make you wait more than a few minutes from having the tech do the basic diagnostics until Marcy comes in, which itself is impressive. After-hours either Marcy or Dr. Thompson are on call so you can call their office number and leave a message and it goes to one of their cell phones. All their staff is friendly, office is clean, plenty of parking, and easy to find. I can see why all their reviews are either 4 or 5 stars.

Dr Thompson reminds me of those TV shows from the 1960s-where the kind, warm family doctor who knows you, listens to you, and is willing to discuss the various options available to you about your health and medical issues. It isnt 1960,it isnt nostalgia . Dr Thompson is up to date on todays evidence based medicine.Your health and well being isnt relegated to an algorithm or check list. He takes the time to listen, discuss, and answer questions. Your appointment is not a 30 minute wait, and a rushed 3 minutes, like so many other practices.I have been seeing Dr Thompson for 3 years now. I have worked in the medical field for 35 years in direct patient care. This practice is a real gem. It lives up to the patient-centered care idea, rather than the usual blah-blah-blah mission statement that is more of an ideal than the actual practice.

I was initially very impressed with the personality of the staff, due to their kindness and attentiveness. Ive never had any problems with the nurses .However upon asking to schedule an appointment for an endoscopy, after dealing with stomach problems for a year, I was told that ulcers could be found in my blood and that I would be denied the procedure.About a 1/2 year later, I went back due to a vaping incident. I tried a vape for the 1st time after a friend had suggested it to me, however it left me coughing up blood for two days. The nurse did extremely well with taking down my notes, and focusing on the details of my incident, as this was to be relayed to my attorney. As the doctor came in, It seems to her that this was no big deal. I asked to be seen by a respiratory specialist and she said that I would most likely be denied due to the fact that I wasnt still coughing up blood that day. She claimed that doctors had been previously penalized for seeming as if they were trying to get more money out of patient by sending patients to specialists, with no dire reason. Which I could see and understand, however as the patient, if I request a test, why on earth would I be denied if I am going to pay for it? It just baffles me.During that same visit I had given a urinalysis to see if I had a UTI. Called back 2 weeks later to find out that my specimen had been on either lost in translation.. or they didnt know. So I went in once again to give them another specimen. When I ask the front desk personnel about my request to see a respiratory specialist, I asked why I had not been followed up with. She said that the doctor thought I was going to do the following up.She then stated that she would have the doctor submit a request to the specialist, and Ive still yet to receive any follow up.Great personalities. Very poor organization.

I have recommended her to friends who have also had good experiences. She listens to me, takes a proactive stance and treats me like an adult with agency and knowledge of my own brain and body. She has never once made me feel fat shamed as SO many medical professionals can. She never makes me feel anything but empowered honestly. I feel she genuinely cares about my well being and in a world so fast paced and transaction-al its such a wonderful feeling. The nurses (Christian rocks!) and front desk staff are all kind and caring and Ive never had to wait very long for my appointments. I wasn’t going to write a review, but today I woke up in excruciating pain and the fact that I had an appointment with these people who then turned me away because of an insurance issue, despite the fact that I had cash on hand I could have given them, leads me to believe that they could careless about people. These people are instead concerned with meeting rules and wasting people’s time. My appointment was scheduled for Friday at 9 am, but I was told to come at 8:30 am so I could fill out paperwork. So I got there at 8:30 handed them my drivers license and insurance card then proceeded to fill out the paperwork. I’m uncertain if their office is different than others I’ve been in because generally they have run my insurance within the first few minutes of me being there, but for some reason they didn’t run my insurance until I had been there for an hour. I was informed that the insurance was no longer active. I called my husband and we determined despite it being in his contract that he would get insurance through October through the employer he just left had cancelled his insurance. I let them know what had happened and asked how much the visit was. The woman informed me it was $150. Relieved, I replied “oh, I have that. Let me get that to you.” The woman replied “oh, sorry, but I’m not sure we can accept you even if you can pay because we usually don’t accept uninsured people so I’ll have to ask my office manager.” I waited a handful of seconds for a woman to appear and inform me, relatively coldly, that I wouldn’t be able to make my apppintment even though I could pay, but I was free to make an appointment when I do have insurance.” Flabber gasted I left. I’m a nursing student who works part time serving because I happen to be lucky enough to have married a developer who is able to provide for us while I’m in school. In all of my pre-nursing and intro to nursing courses we are told that we are servants of our community. This place is only in service of the insured and doesn’t give a damn if you have the funds to see them or what your medical condition maybe unless you meet their standards. I waited over an hour to be denied services I had the funds on my person to pay for via debt card or cash. This place may be easy to get into, but there’s obviously a reason for that.
