I paid cash for my IOLs replacements. The service was good. They were professional, and they did a good job. However, there should be one package cost for the procedure, and all testing should be done as part of that package and at one time.It took me 2 hours of traveling through Houston traffic to return to the clinic after my initial consultation for an hours worth of testing to be sure everything was in order. I lost 1/2 day of work, five hours of my day, arrived at their office for a test that took 10 minutes. I completed three tests at my initial consultation. Indeed they could have done that one extra test at that time.Additionally, I had to pay them three times. Once on day one, then again on day 2, then again on surgery day. They need to have it all a package deal. And paying extra for anesthesia is just BS. No one from the anesthesia department came to explain to me what part of my care they were performing, so its unnecessary as far as Im concerned.I hope this is valuable. I would do it again.

I am consistently looking impressed with Mann Eye Center. I go to their Main Street location in Houston. Dr. Paul Mann is a true delight to work with! He and his entire staff work together to give seamless care and attention. At every level, and with each and every visit, I marvel at their careful attention to detail. It is quite unique to find this exceptional attention to patient care and service in the health care industry these days. I highly recommend Mann Eye Center!

I could not be happier!!!!! I could cry. I have worn glasses since 3rd grade then transitioned to contacts as soon as I could. I was told by my optometrist my vision had stabilized and that I maybe a candidate for lasik. She referred me to Mann Eye. Setting up an appointment was easy, and the staff is incredible. In a world where customer service is hard to come by, this place is grade A! The staff Lilly, Sherilyn, Justin, Neda, Dr. Nguyen, Dr. Chen, Dr. Mike Mann, and Dr. Paul Mann are sooo lovely and nice. The procedure was easy and quick. Thank you!!!!

When I heard that my life was going to be changed by LASIK, I was skeptical. I have had glasses since I was 2, contacts since I was 14 and at 29 I felt that I had adapted to the consistent (yet very annoying) process of buying expensive contacts, inputting them and taking them out each day, and occasionally losing them or having something get stuck to them.Even as a skeptic, I decided to take a chance and visit Mann Eye to really see if they could convince me that it would be as life changing as possible... not only were they able to do that, they were also able to help me understand how painless of a process it would be, and how quick recovery would be. Mallory, the coordinator I worked with, was so incredibly knowledgeable, funny, understanding and took the time to answer all my questions in a manner that I could easily understand. Thanks to her guidance and her encouragement, I am now 3 weeks post LASIK with no complications other than a dry eye the first week - I have officially rid myself of all my contacts, solution and glasses and am never looking back!!

I recently went in for a Lasik consultation and was impressed with how smooth the process was. During the consultation, the doctor examined my eyes to confirm I was a good candidate for the surgery. Once they confirmed I was, Mallory explained the next steps in the process and clearly answered all my questions (including the ones I didnt even know I had) and her demeanor calmed any nerves I had about the process; it was like talking to a friend.Would highly recommend Mann Eye Institute based on my experience so far and will make sure to update the review after the surgery!

Efficiency is the operative word in my evaluation. Making an appointment was very clear and followed by a backup email. Parking is convenient. Reception as soon as we entered by a guy serving as an usher. Dr.s photos and locations within the building were posted in the elevator. At check-in the digital apparatus took photos of all identification need for insurance purposes. Wait time was minimal. Staff could not have been more reassuring. Instead of a dreaded procedure, my appointment was well orchestrated. I left pleased and confident that my doctor was the best.

She was able to answer all my questions, set my appointments and make everything go seamlessly. The nursing staff and assists were great as well and made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Mann was easy to talk to, answered any of my questions, and of course did an excellent job with my procedure. I was in an out of the procedure room in 2 minutes. I have received great care and service at Mann Eye Institute for many years, including contacts and later cataract surgery, and recommend them for any level of treatment. The only reason I didnt rate them 5 stars is because of the lack of integration of their computer systems. I made my appointment online with a specific doctor, and uploaded all the insurance info including card images. When I arrived for my appointment, I had to re-enter all the insurance data and re-scan the cards, and my appointment had been changed to a different doctor. The doctor was as qualified as the one I had selected, but was new to me and had to catch up on my history. Hopefully theyll get the software properly integrated before my next visit.

I normally visit the Deerbrook location (which I love). But this year, I decided to switch to the Main Office location because I live in central Houston. I was scheduled to see Dr. Chin today for an annual eye exam and new contacts & glasses prescription. When I arrived to the facility, I was assigned a doctors assistant named Vanessa. In all fairness, all of the staff members were cordial. But I was in Vanessas care for almost an hour (which was very confusing). I was alarmed to have received almost 80% of my eye exam care from the assistant and NOT the doctor. For one whole hour, the assistant proceeded to perform an eye exam, run tests (including eye dilation) and confirm my new prescription. I have NEVER had a doctors assistant perform so much of an eye exam that is typically expected from the actual doctor. Throughout my visit, I communicated to the assistant (and later the doctor) my discomfort with the assistant performing so much of my assessment. When the doctor (Dr. Chin) finally came into my room (an hour after my scheduled appointment time), she was not going to fully examine me. She was going to rely on the results from the assistants assessment of my eyes. I forced Dr. Chin to re-examine my eyes for new prescription accuracy. However, my frustration intensified when I couldnt confidently complete the doctors exam since my eyes were already dilated. I have NEVER initially seen a doctor AFTER my eyes have been dilated. I am accustomed to having a doctor examine my eyes BEFORE dilation and also AFTER dilation. It appears as if the many assistants on the floor are given way too many doctor responsibilities, allowing the time for the doctor to spend with the patient to be very short. I was livid about my appointment today. I have already made a review about todays appointment on Yelp. I have been annually seeing an eye doctor for over 25 years. I have never been seen like I was seen today. And to know that I had to pay $275 for basically a doctors assistant to see me is a complete joke. Also, Dr. Chin proceeded to tell me ON HER WAY OUT OF THE ROOM that I have early stages of cataracts. Now why she didnt proceed to tell me that information when she was sitting down in the room, confuses me. I was treated like a freaking number, not a real patient today. I have absolutely no intention on returning to the Main office location. And I intend to tell everyone about my visit on today.

I had a wonderful experience with Mann Eye Institute located on Main Street, in Houston. First of all, I tried three different eye clinic to schedule an eye exam. My insurance is handled by a private insurance company, who deals with Cigna. The eye clinics that I tried were all listed in my plan. If you call Cigna, it will show that I am not covered, so the call needs to be made directly to the private insurance company. The first three eye clinics did not do this and said I would have to pay for everything up front. Mann Eye took the time to investigate and understand how my insurance is handled. So, I did not have to pay for the exam upfront.Secondly, the staff was very efficient and process was quick. Dr. Chin was very helpful and took time explaining my sight issues, contacts and glasses. She was very thorough and helpful.Thirdly, I am finally wearing contacts comfortably and can read my computer without using readers! So very happy about this.

Then the receptionist eventually found that I had an appointment with Dr. Brunson. He was fine. However, I consider the change of doctors without advising me was unethical.

Employees and staff were very nice and considerate.I am on Medicare and had cataract surgery for both eyes. There was a consultation fee of $385, and I specifically asked the woman at the front desk if I would be charged anything else and she said; that was it. I suppose she thought I mean in the doctors office.I was never informed of the surgery facility use fee of $250 + $35 co pay which was charged when I went in each time for each eye surgery.I can understand the charge; I just like to know what I am going to be charged and that is why I asked. I looked through the paperwork and didnt see it in the paperwork either other than that I would pay any unpaid balance. The surgeries went great and I am happy about that. I just feel I should have been unformed of these charges prior to the day of the surgery. If someone can show me where I was given that information I will stand corrected.

Having Lasik at Mann Eye was one of the best decisions I made for myself. Their professionalism, knowledge and genuine concern on my vision was impressive. They treat me like family every time I go in, even after the procedure.I had a bad dry eye issue, that I didnt know I had, they said my eyes had to be healthy before we could proceed with doing Lasik, it took some time to get through the treatment, but Im glad we waited. After treatments and then Lasik, I see things I didnt see even with glasses. I was amazed at looking into my grandkids eyes and seeing them clearly. I can both read and see distant. Loving it!I hear people talk about their experience at other places and although the other places may be cheaper, they didnt get the same experience, I had. Very satisfied!

I really wanted to like this place more than I did. The reason I chose to come here for an eye exam was due to the many positive reviews here on Google, so I figured I would leave my experience! It was not horrible, but definitely not spectacular. Walking in initially, I felt very comfortable. They are practicing COVID social distancing and sanitizing better than anywhere else I’ve seen in Houston (they even sanitized my credit card after paying the copay). Front desk check in was smooth, online appointment setup was sleek and easy, and quick check in.Then the optometric assistant/tech (I’ll withhold names) who took me back didn’t introduce himself and wasn’t very talkative, started asking only necessary first-time visit questions. His attitude was similar to a high schooler working at a movie theater, he didn’t seem like he wanted to be there. I felt like I was being a burden to him. I did not feel comfortable and would rate his “bed-side manner” as below fair (especially being alone in an eye exam room). This may be his personality or how he is in general - but I personally didn’t feel very trusted, cared for, or comfortable. It was a tad disheartening to feel that way. I tried to talk with him but he’d give me one word answers and seemingly huff, which isn’t comforting when he’s performing the test that’ll determine your eye prescription. He then took pictures of my eyes. After, he walked out of the room and didn’t really explain what was happening (I was about to wait for the Doctor to come in)... I then sat waiting in the patient room for 25 minutes (the entire time, feeling not exactly sure if anybody knew I was in there). The Doctor finally came in and seemed knowledgeable and competent. She wasn’t incredibly warm and bubbly, but I did not feel uncomfortable. I felt a vibe that she doesn’t enjoy her work though, but it could have been an off day. She dove right into eye questions, not asking questions to get to know me. Maybe it’s a personal preference of mine to get to know my doctor and for them to know me, but I personally felt like they didn’t care too much. We talked about my eyes 100% of the time and nothing else. I dont think she said my name once. Maybe that’s my extroverted personality wanting to socialize due to COVID, but still, it did not feel genuine. It felt like I was simply just another patient to get through the day.She redid the prescription exam and explained a few things, told me my eyes looked healthy and that I’d be good to get LASIK if I wanted. After that, a lady chatted with me in her office about LASIK (I didn’t know this location was a LASIK center) and tried to get me to sign up for an appointment, which I politely declined. Then had my PD measured to buy glasses online. When checking out, the prescription they printed was incorrect. If I hadn’t been listening or paying attention to what the Doctor told me, I would have come away with an incorrect contact lens prescription. Mistakes happen though, I get that, it was merely another point to the visit.Anyway, this is an incredibly lengthy review. If you’ve read this far, kudos.Mann Eye Institute is not a bad place, institution, building, team, or organization. They had all the equipment an eye doctor would need, were professional, and provided the services that I needed for a general eye check-up exam. However, I personally did not have as pleasant or positive of an experience as I would have hoped. Other optometric assistants there seemed warm and welcoming, the doctors all looked qualified, they are practicing great things for COVID, and they have great LASIK surgeons (from what it seems). If you have any optical needs, you will be able to find them here.I merely did not have the best experience during my appointment. When my yearly eye exam rolls around next year, I will consider returning and am not sure that I will - luckily I have a year to think about it.

First, I was not told the elevator was out. I am 67 and have great difficulty taking stairs. I arrived 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment. Once In the waiting room 5 other patients were called back before me. Two patients called while i was still waiting even came to check out before I was called back.. I was going to walk out after waiting 45 minutes but was called in at 43 minutes. I had a field test. My technician was in training so the examination prior to the doctor took an hour, totally unacceptable. My husband was waiting in the car in the parking lot. I was in the office over 2 hours. The reason I gave 3 stars are the pricing of test done without telling me it was additional cost, the Lab Guy who greeted me and took me to the room where I was tested. He was very stoic, I couldnt tell was he having a hard day or what was going on with him. The same Lab Tech was upset with me because I asked him to clean the items touching me. I originally gave this place a 1, but honestly, the 3 employees that did their job and tried to fix the mistakes of others changed my mind. It started when I tried to verify that I had an appointment, I was going to drive 30 minutes and just wanted to make sure all my ducks were in a row. The person that answered the phone asked my birthdate and name a couple of times and told me that I was not in the system and did not have an appointment. I thought geez, Im calling the wrong place. So apparently there are many variations of the Berkley man eye clinic? I called all of the version of the name that are listed in google and finally made it to Christina at the Pearland office. I told her that i had been waiting 3 weeks for my appointment and no one can seem to find me in the system. She was the first one that did not sound like she was rushed. She took the time to check their system and said she was going to try another way and she found me. Bless her! The person that originally made the appointment typod my birthday which means you arent searchable in their system and although I was a hair annoyed, at least Christina found me so I thought all was well. I get to the appointment to see a sign that said to excuse the mess. Apparently they are doing some remodeling. The elevator did not work (Im not making this up) you would think they might want to call people and let them know there is no elevator. A staff member said that the freeze took out the elevator and it hasnt worked since. Apparently this place either doesnt have air conditioning or doesnt like to use it, not sure which. I get to the appointment, see Dr. Hahn and can I tell you that Dr. Hahn s assistant is amazing? She was amazing! Her last name was Garcia, I cant remember her first name. So I make it through the appointment and try logging into the patient portal, the system does not recognize me. I call back the next day and get Klara this time, she figured out that not only was my birthday entered wrong, but so was my telephone number which is needed to enter the portal. So Klara fixed the second typo and I need to wait til midnight to try to access my records. All of this could have been avoided if the person setting up my appointment would have entered the information correctly. I promise you it is no fun to be told that you dont have an appointment and to have to call around to different berkley/mann offices trying to figure out where your appointment was when you had the right place in the first place. Klara, Ms. Garcia, and Christina in the Pearland Office, I dont know if this medical practice knows how amazing you 3 ladies are, but you are amazing and a blessing. Everything else about my visit and the disorganized way I was dealt with sucked. Please, if you have a patient with an appointment on the third floor, consider calling them and letting them know they will be climbing 40 stairs for their appointment. But that would require the correct phone number wouldnt it?

They did an extremely thorough exam to make sure they got all the measurements needed; talked me through the whole process and explained that, given the disparate conditions of my eyes, I would need blended vision, essentially one eye for seeing short distances and one for long distances. I had some experience with contact lenses, so I understood the issue. I had the surgery 3 weeks ago and I am seeing so much more clearly. I dont have the headache and eye ache issues I had with contacts, or the discomfort/hassle of glasses. My wife will be going here next year.

Thank you for restoring my vision with multifocal lens implants, Dr. Michael Mann, my surgeon and founder of the Mann Eye Institute! I have worn eyeglasses since I was 9 months old and have never had perfect vision, but I do now!! I developed a cataract in my left eye and took a leap in faith to simultaneously undergo an elective lensectomy in my right eye. I was nervous and worried but the staff and Dr Mann literally held my hand through the whole process. Thank you for treating me like family and helping me see better than I could have dreamed possible.

I absolutely loved this place! Ive already recommended it to friends that are looking for an ophthalmologist. From the moment you walk in, the customer service is EXCELLENT, to the moment you see the doctor. Just such a great experience. Didnt rush to get me out, listened to my symptoms, and were very thorough with the diagnostic. My doctor was just wonderful and so was the entire staff. I will definitely keep coming back to this institute for my eye check-up every year.

It was a great experience. The Doctors are fun and made the experience a relaxing and exciting adventure. I can now see my legs in the shower to shave. No more nicks, lines of missed hair, or trying to see through wet and foggy glasses.

I recently had cataract surgery and the quality of care I received was outstanding! Dr. Paul Mann was my doctor, and he couldn’t have done a better job. My vision is now 20/15 in each eye, 20/12 with both eyes, without correction! The staff is friendly and professional and the office runs very smoothly. I’ve never had to wait long at all. I am a former ophthalmic technician and have worked for clinics that run patients through like cattle, with patients having to sit and wait for long periods of time. This is not the case at Mann Eye Clinic. I also did not feel rushed when Dr. Mann was examining my eyes.I give Mann Eye Clinic an 11 out of 10 and will definitely recommend to everyone I know!

I had Lasik performed by Dr. Brunson. From the doctors to the staff, everyone was very professional and insightful. This experience has significantly changed my life as my vision is now better than 20/20. The only regret I have is not doing it sooner. Highly recommend!

I cannot find enough words to express how amazing this place is. Mann Eye Institute has some of the most compassionate and helpful staff of Doctors and Nurses I have encountered in a long time. Even when I had to jump around to a few of their doctors, they were all clear and knowledgeable about what was going on with me.I came to the initially because I ended up with an ulcer in my eye. They attacked it furiously and got me back to normal. But what really cemented my love for this team is that they are the only ones that told me that I could get Lasik done. I have always had trouble with my vision. Legally blind from one eye, myopia, nystagmus, near sighted.... with this, I have always struggled with getting my drivers license, Id miss out on a lot because I could not see, Id have to have people read menus to me.... I lived and depended on my glasses/contacts. But now, I am finally free... Despite the nystagmus (my eyes shake), they were able to give me a mild sedative to calm my nerves and follow my eyes and get them corrected. I may not see 20/20, but I am seeing better than I ever have in my entire life... even better than any prescription anyone has ever given me. For the first time I was able to get my license without multiple visits and crying. I am able to take walks in the park and see the squirrels and birds and turtles. I can read subtitles on my own. I dont even make as many typos when I type. They are patient. They explain everything they are doing and why things are happening thoroughly. They made things happen for me that no one ever thought would be possible. I only wish I would have lived in Houston earlier and gotten to be treated by them when I was a kid.

I have been to various optometrists/ophthalmologists over the years, and Mann Eye Institute is among the best. They have a wonderful staff - Isis whowas wonderful with patient care and procedures, and Dr. Chin who was exceptionally talented, understanding, and provided excellent recommendations for my dry eye syndrome. Highly recommend the team at Mann Eye Institute!

I received surgery to correct an astigmatism and my vision Rx.I paid 4600 dollars to do so... the warranty they provided give me 2 yrs for touch-ups. Today (nearly two years later) I came in for an exam because i had to cheat at the DMV to pass the eye test... yet Mann Eye Institute says my vision isnt bad enough for them to do any touch-up.Soon i will be out of my warranty period and in a short period will have to use glasses or pay another 4600 dollars to have surgery AGAIN.....The degradation in my vision is substantial enough for me to have problems, but the office says they will not recommend a touch up...??Therefore, I do not recommend Mann Eye Institute.

The optometrist Stephanie Blume was excellent and as it turned out, we had something in common. Both of us grewup in the Mid-Hudson Valley of New York State. My experience with her was excellent. My experience latter with Paul Mann was excellent too.I have opted to have the mono-focal lens implant because I had a radial keratotomy in 1983 and the multi-focal lens is not recommended for people that had this surgery in the past. I also realize that I will need corrective glasses after the surgery. Having had a surgery that gave me near perfect vision in the past I continued to wear glasses to keep dust and flying debris out of my eyes. So even if you think not having to wear glasses is wonderful you should realize that your eyes will be much more sensitive to the dirt in the air.

The post-op instructions they gave me were spot on and I knew exactly what to expect after my surgery. I highly recommend.
