Was recommended to this center by many people. My son recently developed a sensitivity to light and we were hoping Berkeley could give us some answers. I wanted my son to see Dr. Yankelove, but I was told Dr. Yankelove didnt see patients for routine exams, even though this was not a routine exam. The doctor we did see was young and in our opinion not knowledgeable enough to deal with what our son was experiencing. While the back office staff was very friendly, and their technology is state of the art, we waited there for 2 hours for answers, just to finally hear they have no idea what was wrong with my son. They couldnt give me a specialist recommendation for my son either. Its like hes the first patient they have ever seen with a light sensitivity. They sent us home with a glasses prescription our son doesnt need. I know this because we saw a pediatric ophthalmologist yesterday who confirmed glasses were not the issue. When we left Berkeley the other day the front office tried to charge me $95 for our visit, even though eye exams under our insurance plan are only $10. If I see a specialist for a medical reason the copay is $60. Berkeley definitely overcharged us, and I still need to deal with that. Very dissatisfied with the overall experience.

Rude, rude, rude...! Arrived early walked in and immediately told to get out as it was closed although door was unlocked. Waited 20 minutes in my vehicle till opening time. Attempting to walk in was promptly intercepted at the door for the customary COVID questions and checks. Then allowed in and asked for insurance and ID. Advised as I handed my ID that I did not have insurance card. Young rude lady had located my appointment for which they had already verified coverage a few days back and proceeds to tell me “for your next visit you better have your insurance cards”. This was the same young lady who told me to “get out because we are closed”. As I walked out I looked and the hours of operations sign is in very small print on the far right side of the entrance. There will not be a next visit....!

Had a great experience. Was able to schedule a next day appt for a Saturday. Everyone was nice, even with the covid protocols. Just picked up my glasses and I am extremely happy with the end result!

While i inderstand that COVID precautions are important you should NOT have to drop your 81 year old mother off, who has difficulty walking, hearing, and understanding to fend for herself. How rude! I was ready to practice all safety rules to come in with her.. They said the Dr will call me when she was in there. Made her wait an hour. Even after i listened to the Dr explain his findings, she did not really remember what to do next. She was very stressed. I recommend they revisit their policy on old and young patients.

I love this place! Berkeley Eye Center staff are so professional! The front desk staff are friendly. When you call the office they are great on the phone as well. Such a nice experience coming to get my eyes looked at for cataract surgery. Dr. Yankelove is an excellent doctor. I highly recommend him for your eye surgery needs. My experience with Berkeley Eye Center has been positive from beginning to end. Setting up an initial appointment as a new patient was fast and easy. The receptionists, both over the phone and in person, are informed, helpful, and quite welcoming. The technicians and doctors who work with Dr. Yankelove, including a few who I remember by name--Alex. Brenda, and Dr. Chao (forgive me if Ive misspelled anything here)--were all courteous, professional, and informative through every exam and discussion. Wait times in the reception lobby were always less than 5 minutes and the facility is spacious and well-maintained. Ill be recommending the office to friends.

Wonderful experience at Berkeley Eye Center. Dr. Davis was excellent. I had four appointments: one for me and each of my three kids ages 8,6,and 2. He was wonderful with all of us. The rest of the staff was excellent, too. The receptionists were gracious and the facility was neat and clean. The eye techs (not sure their actual titles) were excellent and were great at making my kids feel at ease at their first eye exams as well as helping me to understand my astigmatism. Highly recommend. Also, they accept our familys vision plan and have a nice selection of eyewear in the adjacent optical boutique.

How refreshing to step into a doctors office and get excellent care from beginning to end. All of the staff were friendly, efficient, knowledgeable, and took time to answer all questions throughout my exam and my sons. The intake receptionist easily handled checking in and insurance, each part of the eye exam was thoroughly explained before each step was done by the technician, Dr. Yankelove was detailed and pleasant in his diagnosis and treatment plan, the financial counselor provided great options for payment plans, and the optical technician (Shirley)was so patient in finding new glasses and getting my Rx processed. What a pleasant experience....at a doctors office!!

February 1, 2016 was my first visit to the Katy Freeway/Dr. Yankelove Berkeley Eye Center.I knew when I first walked in I had made the correct decision in selecting them for my eye care.The visit was fast and complete. I was out with my cataract surgery scheduled forone eye in two weeks and the other the following two weeks.Both surgeries went perfectly and I saw the Dr. yesterday for my final visit.All of the staff are friendly and polite but thorough.My thanks to Dr. Yankelove and the Katy Freeway Berkeley Eye Center staff for making it easy for me to see!

I was seen timely after my arrival. The eye exam was comprehensive and everyone who worked with me explained everything completely. The entire staff was courteous, professional and made sure all of my questions or concerns were addressed completely. I recommend them enthusiastically.

The staff at Berkeley eye center off Katy Freeway are wonderful! When I was seen the employee was so attentive. She was really relatable, and made me laugh. Dr. Chou was great as well. Then, I got to Connie she helped me with my contact lens fitting. She was amazing! She was very friendly, and bubbly. She told me about great deals on sunglasses when you buy a year supply of Air optix. She was awesome. Will definitely be coming back!

Had an appt and had to cancel due to something that wasnt my fault. I called back because the issues was resolved, but they wouldnt answer the phone. I drove over there and attempted to recover my appt 30 minutes after I had canceled. I was told I would have to wait over 4 hours. I understand that I had canceled the appointment but the customer service was horrible. They wanted me to wait 4 hours for a maybe can fit you in or come back in mid January. Unbelievable poor customer service.

Technicians and Dr. Yankelove are always a pleasure to work with. On-time and very efficient. I have learned my lesson in buying glasses on line and have returned to the high quality professional fitting provide by Sandy in the dispensary.

I and my son had concurrent appointments. Dont know who served my son, but he said all went well. I was served by Brenda. She was excellent in all categories. Dr Sam and I go way back... although I havent visited as frequently as I should. I travel much further to see him, then other providers in my neighborhood.

Recently had LASIK with Dr. Yankelove at Berkeley Eye Center and everyone associated with my procedure was amazing. I recently had my consultation done at this location. The staff is very helpful and friendly. They answer all questions about the procedure and the financial part of it. I am getting the procedure done in 2 days and I am now excited instead of nervous! Believe me when I say I was FREAKED OUT before coming here. I am getting Lasik done on only my right eye due to the fact that my left eye has very little prescription. Dr. Yankelove made it clear to me that I did not need it on my left eye which I loved. Most dr.s just want to make money off patients but he was very honest. I already recommended 2 friends here. I know they will love it.

Dr. Yankelove did my LASIK surgery a week ago and Im thrilled with the results! The customer service was exceptional and they were very price competitive. The pre-op wait was just long enough for the Valium to kick in, the procedure itself took around 15 minutes and was completely painless. They talk you through it so you know whats going on and they have a spot for your ride to watch too! I shopped around quite a bit before I decided on Dr. Yankeloves practice and Im extremely happy with my decision.

If I might, let me tell you a couple of things it may help you to choose a correct decision.As an engineer, in almost every aspect in our ordinary life, we are looking for solutions considering a few aspects: quality and advantage experience, cost and time. So, I went and got two quotations for a Lasik surgery and the followings were the aspects made my select Berkeley Eye Center in Katy Freeway location.1.- Quality, Knowledge/high experience; initially, I was scared because your eye it is, unless for me, one of the most important organ you have, so I want to be in the hands of the more experienced doctor in the world. What did make me to choose BEC? Dr. Yankelove is a mathematics (I love that because it means he enjoys numbers and calculations as I do) and has over 20 years of experience in eye surgery, but he is not the only one that enjoys and has high engagement with his/her job. His team also, looks engaged in what they do, knows and follow all technical and commercial procedures they put in front of you before surgery. They answer all your questions and made you feel that nothing is hide and rule and procedure you must follow before and after the surgery are clear.2.- Time; it is the most convenience place since they value your time. Day 1: Be prepared to spend 2 hrs. for the cornea measurements and go over procedures and cost at the same day which it is typically days in advance of your surgery to identify if you are or not qualify for Lasik Surgery. Day 2: It is your surgery date. Be prepared to spend 30-45mins. Yes!! It is simple. You just entry and pass straight to pay the surgery with Judy, then Laura will be with you explaining very gently what to expect and not expect of the surgery, put 4 drops in each eye and after 15 mins, you are in front if the Lasik machine and the doctor. The surgery takes 10 mins. And then you come back to the recovery room for other 10 mins, doctor check your eyes for the last time and you are ready to leave straight home and take rest. I love simplicity.3.- Cost: I have been with BEC for more than 8 years in the office located in memorial. You know what they did? They paid me for the loyalty. If you have purchased all eyes products from them in the last 3 years you might qualify for $1000 discount. Also, they are a 5% discount if you pay in cash. So, I took all of them. Awesome!!Just for your information, the other provider I got the quotation, made me feel more nervous that I was, and all surgeries upon scheduled take place in other building with a bunch of people in the waiting room. That, for sure would make me feel with anxiety and wishing running away. I bet you they will respond to me as “Client, so sorry to hear that, we will miss you” because let us be honest, they won’t chance what they are, because these are their policies.Hope you have exceptional experience as I did in April 2018 with decided to invest in my 20/15 vision.

I went for my yearly eyes exam, I had astigmatism and my left eye was worst. I had glasses since i was 11 years old, 20 years with glasses! I have read about Dr. Yankelove, his experience and his skills impressed me. He told me i was a candidate for lasik and explained me the details, when i accepted Lasik, a whole team of very prepared, kind certified ophtalmic assistants helped me thru the whole process, tests, surgery and after. They gave me all i needed, instructions and suplies to take care of my eyes. It didnt hurt which i thought it would. Now i am writting this review with NO glasses on 20/20!I want to thank Dr. Yankelove for helping me accomplish something that only in my dreams i could think and Brenda Castillo for preparing me and talking to me in the whole process I trust in you 100%

I had a great experience with Dr. Yankelove and the staff (including but not limited to Brenda, Michelle, Alex, Laura, et al.). Many were former and current patients of the doc for 10+ years. Ive personally wanted the procedure for over 15 years. I walked in only knowing the name Berkeley Eye Center and having limited knowledge of the process. The exams were easy and handled deftly, the consultations were thorough, and the billing process was straightforward without any surprises.If I hadnt qualified for the Hero plan I would have shopped around pricing more but thankfully didnt have to.Also, if you want to score extra points the phrase is compensatory epithelial hyperplasia.

Great experience with this place. Went in promplty, got my eyes checked, picked my frames, done. Simple, fast, imformative and really calm inviroment. The woman at the frames department was really helpful when choosing a frame style I wanted. Even fixed my old glasses until I get my new ones. The doctor was great! She asked if I had any concerns or problems with my vison and just seemed really helpful overall. Great place, great staff and a huge selections of frames and lenses.

Overall i am satisfy by the work done by the ophthalmologist that my mothereye do not have any issue about glaucoma. Although we do not have insurance, we pay less that what i was expected.

You can tell alot about a business by its employees and everyone here seems to get along great and love what they do!I have been going to Berkeley Eye Center for the past few years since I moved to Houston. Recently, my contacts really started bothering me and would move around a lot on my eye. I decided to get my FREE LASIK Consultation. They conducted a few eye tests, Dr. Yankelove came to look at my eyes through the microscope, and they thoroughly explained the process to me with some short videos. I also had some dry eye issues with my contacts, but Dr. Yankelove prescribed me some antibiotics and suggested a few things to try to help out. Dr. Yankeloves staff at Berkeley Center also described all my LASIK costs up front during my consultation so there were no surprises. Everything was included in the price they gave me except the eye drops used around the surgery, but they informed me of this ahead of time. I scheduled my LASIK Pre-appointment, Day of procedure, and post-op appointment. I also was to not wear my contacts 2 weeks before the procedure, but since they bothered me so much stopped right after my consultation and wore my glasses.On the day before my procedure, I had my Pre-Op appointment where they did more tests to double check my vision and see what needed to be done to make my vision perfect during the operation. They explained again the entire procedure and how my visit the next day would work. On the day of the procedure, my husband dropped me off and they took me back to get my eyelids cleaned (wiped down to remove bacteria), put in numbing drops, and get my Valium to help with the nervousness of the experience. After a little while they took me back to the operating room and I laid down in the chair. Once I was in there they put many more stronger numbing drops into my eyes. This did not hurt at all since my eyes were already a little numb from before. I informed the main nurse in the operation suite that I didnt think my Valium had kicked in yet and she made sure to wait a little more before I felt comfortable to start. The procedure only took a few minutes and I felt absolutely no pain whatsoever! They prepare you and tell you that you might feel a lot pressure during the first step of the procedure but I didnt feel this at all. The entire time I was in the op chair and during the procedure, the 2 nurses and Dr. Yankelove were talking and counting me down through the procedure. I knew everything that was happening as it was happening and this helped calm me a lot. After the operation, they took me back to my room so Dr. Yankelove could look through the microscope and make sure everything looked good. A few minutes later my husband came in and took me home. I was in and out in 1 hour. Once I got home, I tried to go to sleep. I did have some burning sensation and my eyes were watering once I laid down about 1 hr after the procedure but since the Valium was in effect it wasnt that bad because I was able to fall asleep easier even with the discomfort. This was the most uncomfortable part of the entire process but it still wasnt horrible. It was normal to experience this. I woke up later that evening and laid down and watched some TV and I could see!. I used some eye drops since I was awake but was able to still sleep that night.The next day I had my post-op visit and was able to drive myself there that morning. This was only about a 15 minute visit for Dr. Yankelove to check my eyes to make sure everything looked good. I had 20/15 vision in each eye, and 20/20 with both. They nurse said it was probably better than that but didnt want to stress my eyes further the day after the procedure.Today I have my 1 week followup visit. My vision is perfect. I do have some dry eye but this is normal and I have OTC drops to use as needed.

Broke my wifes glasses frame today when putting in new lenses and refused to admit it or pay for replacing it!!!! Said it was the heat of warming up the frame. Very disappointed and suggest you go elsewhere for glasses
