5 stars for Miss April. (Dr. Campbell is awesome too!!!). My sister is a patient here. She has always had a tough time going to the dentist. Normally our parents take her to the dentist so it had been years since Ive gone with her (which usually entailed her crying, screaming at the dentist and assistants, breaking dental equipment, and one time locked herself in the car so that her appt was cancelled). This was the first time in awhile that I took her. I prepared myself for the worst but was pleasantly surprised. ALL THANKS TO APRIL! My sister is an adult with autism. Sometimes its difficult to meet others who just get it. But April GETS IT. She knew just how to communicate with my sister, made her feel calm, and continually praised her. She also went out of her way to make my sister feel special by picking out her own toothbrush. It made a difference. Thank you for having the best dentist party. Shes still talking about it.

Clean. Considerate. Professional. Kind. The staff was exceptional and the dentist was so respectful, gentle, and kind. Nothing ever felt rushed and time was taken to ensure I understood everything.

If youre worried that your child has a tongue tie DO NOT see Dr. Shetty. I had concerns that my child had a tongue tie and asked him about this at their cleaning. I was told that they didnt and was overall very dismissive. I decided to get a couple of other opinions from pediatric dentists and both said that my child had a class 4 tongue tie! Clearly Dr. Shetty needs more training in identifying tongue ties.

They lied about price there manager was shown the prior print out with the quote given and shown the receipt for what was paid and they wanted 5,000 more because they did more than permission was given and the insurance did not pay them as much. So the teeth that were ordered and paid for were never received and military insurance doesn’t want to deal with them anymore their finance manager is that bad! Owner refused to back up the patient! Not a good place if you value your income or want more money coming out than told about!

VDAA is very welcoming place and our whole family loves seeing Dr. Pham for our dental care. She explains well if there are problems that need to be taken care and is very talented caring doctor.

I am appalled at how much they quoted us for our son , $6000 for baby teeth work and we went to pediatric dentistry of Fredericksburg and they were a third of that. They also treated us horribly when we said we could not afford that amount of work. Price mark up at its finest ! I do not recommend .

My husband took my daughter there for cavities in her back teeth and was made to feel like a horrible parent that didn’t feed her healthy food and didn’t take care of her. To speak to a parent in that manner is totally unprofessional. Raising children is hard enough without someone that doesn’t even know you to make you feel like your the worst parent ever and you’re not taking care of your child. I’ll be looking for another dentist for my children.

We found VDAA to be extremely professional and thorough. The atmosphere is upbeat, and the staff is open and informative!

Quality dental work you can depend on with staff that care about your comfort level. My teeth have never been healthier, Ive never had a problem with one of their fillings over many years, and my bite is the most comfortable its ever been.

This dental office is Amazing. I highly recommend them. Melissa and Liz were fantastic and took their time going over everything. Dr. Phram was also very nice and provided me with lots of good information. The staff and Dr. Phram truly seem to care about the well being of their patients. I have had excellent treatment each time I have gone to Virginia Dental & Anesthesia Associates. The dental hygienists have been thorough and explained everything that they were doing.Over a several month period I had seven teeth removed by Dr. Campbell. I really do not like shots and/or having extensive dental work done. Dr. Campbell was completely open about what needed to be done, how long it might take and the amount of pain that would be involved. This entire process went much smoother than I had expected. I would recommend this dental office to anyone looking for excellent care.

Both of my kids have only gone here. My son is on the spectrum and he had to get novocaine to have a tooth pulled. I really didnt think it would go over well. My son didnt even know he got the shot or when they were finished. Neither one of my kids complain when they have to go. My daughter loves them. They made a smooth transition for my son over to the adult side. I feel safe to leave him there while I sit over by my daughter. They are fantastic with him.

Always awesome experience. I have been seeing Dr. Campbell since 2003. I will not go anywhere else nor will my kids. Even when we had dental insurance and VA dental was out of network I paid to take my kids to Va dental. Ive sadly been too many dentist in my time and nobody compares to the skills and equipment that VA dental has. My daughter just had her 4 wisdom teeth pulled and I didnt for one minute stress as I KNEW she was in the best hands possible. We will always be patients when living in this area or anywhere within a 100 miles. The pediatric dentist are top notch too as well as the whole team at Va Dental. I recommend them to everyone!

We came to VDAA as a 3rd opinion for my 4 year old. The office is very nice and clean. After her consultation we agreed she had to be put under general anesthesia for multiple fillings. The office staff is very friendly, the doctors were patient, informative, and kind. The ladies in the recovery room were fantastic too. Everyone took amazing care of my daughter. We will be coming back for routine cleanings!

Im writing this review because I just checked my mail and received a letter from Dr. Pope dissiming my 12 year old from the practice. My daughter has been a patient there since she was two or three years old. I apparently missed an appointment last Friday. I never received a confirmation email or phone call. Im an essential employee and work 12 hour shifts everyday since covid started. You all were home with your families and not on the front line like me and many other healthcare workers. Im a single mother and come home everyday taking ever precaution to make sure I take appropriate steps to protect her from my days work with patients. I wouldnt have missed her appointment intentionally. I work in King George and cell service isnt great. I could have possibly missed a confirmation call. The community have limited healthcare resources and I work everyday to make sure I can help give the care they deserve and need. Im truly disappointed that this is the decision he has made. I will continue to serve the community as a healthcare worker, on the front lines.

My experiences with VDAA have been great. Dr. Jeff Campbell and staff are very professional and knowledgeable. I have a great smile now thanks to them.

Price gouging at its finest. Sub par service which is extremely overpriced. At the office visit, was told the charges would be $50. Received a bill for $180 for a three-year-old toddler’s teeth cleaning - no xrays or anything that would warrant such high charges. Highly recommend shopping around because competitors in the area are less than half the cost and provide far better service. Wish I could rate 0/5 - poor customer service. Excellent at losing clients!

It was our first time with a new dentist for my daughter. Everyone was very nice. I enjoyed the fact that they use tablets instead of all the paper! Definitely coming back.

My visit was perfect until I checked out!!! I was told by Dr. Pham to schedule an appointment for a cap as soon as possible. I went to make the appointment with the lady at the front desk. We were looking for any appointment when another lady came out of nowhere and said to the receptionist. “You need to look at .....” and then she pointed to something on the computer screen? And then the receptionist said “you will have to pay $315.00 before I even make the appointment! And then $300.00 once the crown is delivered. By then I was like ...what?!!!! It was very very uncomfortable! I’ve been coming to this office for almost 7 years and I have referred a couple of coworkers to this office and then they make me feel like that!!! No wonder they have lost patients and staff!! I believe the office will be closed within the next year.

My first visit which was a cleaning went great. They were very thorough. Told me I needed to have a cavity filled with Dr. Pham. She was great! She numbed me up and then waited at least 5 minutes before getting started. I felt no pain. Thank you!Also took my two children here and saw Dr. Pope for a cleaning. Thought he was great as well. We’ll be back.

Today was my first visit here and it was awesome! Best dental visit I have ever had, from start to finish! My hygienist Carrie was so thorough and friendly, Dr.Pham was also great. Definitely recommend!

We were referred by our dentist for an extraction on my 4 year old son. We were quoted for the cost of anesthesia and nitrous because I wanted my son to be as comfortable as possible. My insurance would not pay for this service but we were willing to pay out of pocket for our son to be comfortable. The day of service, we were taken back an hour after our appointment time. They cleared all patients from the office before service. They strapped my son down, dug in his gum to extract the tooth as he screamed bloody murder the whole time. I question them on why they wouldnt put him under or even gas him and the response was, it wasnt neccessary. They didnt even place a towel over his chest. He left with blood on his shirt. When the EOB arrived in the mail, I noticed they billed for services that werent rendered and the date of services were incorrect. I called my insurance company and let them know. A year later, thinking we were done with this place, boy was I wrong! Our insurance denied coverage for a regular exam service at our regular dentist stating the max was reached. Questioning this concern, I called the insurance and found out Dr. Popes office billed for an exam the same day as the extraction. He NEVER did an exam on my child! The insurance company already paid him and because I didnt dispute within the allowed time frame Im stuck with a bill I shouldnt have to pay! This is Fraud!

Great staff . Took my 2 year old for her 1st dental appointment . And everyone was very friendly and you could tell they loved their jobs . The cleaning went excellent and my daughter had a great experience. She even came home and brushed her teeth a little bit longer that night.

My daughter has autism and we love it here. She was always scared of the dentist, but they took the time to talk with her to get her to feel comfortable and explain everything they were doing. She has even gotten to the point where she will go back without me. It has been such a pleasant experience coming here. I highly recommend it!

We have been going here for years and I have been remiss in posting a review considering the care both of our children have received here. Our youngest has autism, is ID and has a heart condition. The people here have always been amazing and kind. So happy we found them and dont plan on ever going anywhere else.

Found the PERFECT dentist for my child. Dr. Shetty and his team are so patient and caring. They are able to ease his fears and provide excellent care in the process!

I had an appointment yesterday and I thought Dr.Pope and his two staff members helping were amazing! My oldest son is 6 and he has autism (very high functioning and intelligent) and is petrified of the dentist and doctors. The staff were very polite, patient, professional and knowledgeable as my son was having a hard time sitting still so they allowed me to help during the cleaning process. One of the ladies helping even looked up at me and said You are a really good mom Those few kind words meant the world to me as my son doesnt look any different just because he has autism. So people do not know and assume I just dont discipline my child which is untrue. They are just like yours except they learn different and my son is extremely intelligent, can talk, however he has behavior issues involving running away from me and will actually try to elope any chance he gets (aka wondering) including at school. Anyway he did run around when he got loose when I was trying to sign paperwork and the staff was very understanding and empathetic. If your child has special needs I would definitely recommend Dr.Pope at VA Dental & Anesthesia Associates. He and his staff are very qualified and explained everything thoroughly to me. The Dr and his staff were great with my son and calmed him as much as they could. They had a burrito wrap for him to make things easier for both my son, myself, and the staff during the cleaning have 2 sons 6 and 2 and my 2 year old does NOT have special needs and I will most likely be bringing him there. So as a mom with a child with autism and a child without special needs I can speak on the fact they would be a great pediatric dental office for any child. Also I was running very behind and the staff was very helpful and pushed back my appointment an hour and the staff did not give me any problem and were very nice about the situation. My 6 year old son will need to be put to sleep as he needs X-rays as well as surgery due to his constant grinding. This is scary but I have faith in Doctor Pope and his assisting staff as they are requiring a physical from his Pediatrician first to make sure everything is fine and they have all the correct info before going through with the oral surgery and obviously prior to putting him to sleep for the oral procedure to put in crowns in the back due to the grinding. That shows their checking everything with his medical recwords prior to the oral surgery. I am nervous however they reassured me and answered all my questions & concerns. I will try to update my review after the procedure to provide more info on how everything went. Also they accept Medicaid in case anyone wad wondering and my children have anthem plus. 5 Stars for my experience for my sons first two appointments.

My wife and I feel we receive excellent care at VA Dental. The staff is very professional and caring. They answer all our questions and are very hospitable and friendly. We would recommend them to anyone, young or elderly!

My son went 6 mo ago and had two baby teeth that were still in place as the new ones grew behind. I was concerned and wanted them removed. The doctor told me nothing to worry about. Yesterdays visit- the teeth were still there and then he said oh yes they need to be removed. Why the heck were they not addressed 6 mo ago when I asked? Now his new teeth are growing totally in the wrong place because they were left there. Not too happy about that.

Dont expect their fillings to last long! It has been awhile since I have been here, but I want people to know about the poor quality of the work that they do. I had a terrible experience here in December 2014, when I went there on an initial visit because of their great reviews and because of a recommendation from a friend. I was told by the dentist that I had several cavities, which was disappointing, but it had been a couple years since my last full dental checkup, so I wasnt terribly surprised. I was given a price estimate and made an appointment to fill the first two of the cavities. When I came back for that appt., the real hell started. The dentist (I dont recall her name, but she was kind of young, so maybe very inexperienced) took over three hours to do one filling, did not numb me enough, and had a terrible bedside manner. She didnt seem to know what she was doing. She did not apologize for the abnormally long amount of time and stress associated with the filling, even though it was clear that it took longer than it was supposed to, because they never got to the second one. Instead, I was to leave and reschedule for the remaining cavities. When I went to check out, I was met with a much larger total than I had been told before (I know this can happen if the cavity is larger than anticipated, but it was a big increase, especially after the poor treatment I had just received). When I politely asked questions about it, the office staff was snippy and unhelpful. They did let me know that they would bill me for my portion, and I left. After my experience, I was determined not to go there for the remaining fillings, and went to another dentist in town, who turned out to be great. However, I was still not out of the woods, because my new dentist needed my records and x-rays from Virginia Dental and Anesthesia. When his office called them, they said they could not release them because I still owed them for the work they had done. The problem with this? THEY HAD NOT YET BILLED ME. My new dentist said that this was bogus, and they had to release the records. Under pressure, they did, and I was finally able to get my teeth taken care of (NONE of my fillings done by him have taken even half as long to complete). THE WORST PART OF IT ALL: Now, just a little over two years later, I have been informed the filling that VA Dental did has decay around it and needs to be replaced. So...all that pain and money was for nothing, as the workmanship was shoddy. My advice? Steer clear of this place!

This place is phenomenal, it was my husbands first time here and we were in a bit of a time crunch due to another pending issue but Virginia Dental & Anesthesia Associates were VERY accommodating and we were in and out very quickly with everything addressed to our satisfaction! The Dentist-Dr.Pham is amazing, very informative, courteous, and all around awesome!!!!

I took my son there because I was told Dr. Pope is great with kids. It came down to two adults forcefully holding my son down while he was screaming in fear to check on a tooth he hurt at school and became really loose. At this point my son was already in pain and scared. I was hoping the Dr would pull it right out when looking at it since it was so loose and my child was so miserable. That didnt happen. He sent us home where I asked my son if I can floss the tooth and I simply wrapped it around and pulled it right out. It was that loose. No one there took 2 minutes to make him feel at ease or to assure him he wont get hurt. My son has no cavities and overall great oral hygiene, but I was given a rude lecture on how I need to floss his teeth daily with other people around. I guess the way he comes across is not the best. I dont recommend him as a pediatric dentist especially if your little one is more sensitive.

I was referred to Dr. Pope by several people as my daughters dentist. I had only good experiences with him and his staff. My daughter doesnt like dentist but she doesnt mind going to him. He is very good with kids.

Every experience that I have ever had at this place was pleasant! I have been going to this dental office for 20 years! The staff has always been very courteous and helpful with every step of the appointment. The staff is very knowledgeable about their work, and will do whatever is necessary to make sure your health and overall experience is great! If you want excellent customer service and care from the front desk to the doctors and assistants, this is the place to go! VDAA all the way!

Best adult and pediatric dentist around! My child needed some fillings and they were able to sedate her under general anesthesia and complete all her dental treatment! They even gave her a stuffed bear and a popsicle when she was in recovery and called us the day after to check on her. I would highly recommend this office for your families dental needs!

I was happy with Dr. Shetty but was not very impressed with the dental tech. She made me feel like it was my fault my daughters teeth were bad. I have been battling her bad teeth since she was a year old and I am very meticulous on trying to take care of her teeth. It was quite uncomfortable and made me feel like an awful mother but I will still return to see Dr. Shetty because he was good with her and she needs some pretty extensive dental work. Looking at the reviews, maybe the dental tech usually works with Dr. Pope or is related...

My children have been coming here for years and always have a great experience. Dr. Shetty is always so accommodating and is great with children. The staff is always so nice.

They where very friendly. They had a lot of patience with me. Im in my late 40s and I hate the dental office had to many bad episodes with dentists as a child and young adult. I needed a tooth pulled. The last few they have always needed to put me to sleep. Well long story short they where able to pull it with me a wake and she was so very nice and sweet. So they well be my new doctor for dental work. Best experience I have ever had.

Dr. Jeff CAMPBELL and his assistant Kristin are an amazing team. I just received some beautiful and in depth dental work, to which I am so pleased. That is why I feel it necessary to write this review, there is nothing more comforting as a patient but to have full trust in the professionals while you are receiving treatment, and that is what you get at this office. Dr. CAMPBELL and his assistant Kristin just complement each other as a team, they work harmontaniously together, knowing exactly what the next move will be without having to be told. Kristin, though focused on her role in the procedure continuely checked on me to be sure I was comfortable and understood what was going on at the time. Dr. CAMPBELL’s dental work is nothing more than the best, he cares about the final outcome and wants it to be perfect. I can’t thank this office and team enough for the wonderful treatment and care I received.

Campbell & Shetty were skillful working w/ my severely disabled daughter, who always had to be put under to have work done. My beef is that after years of giving these people $2-5k every year for anesthesia & overages that insurance didnt cover, their office manager writes me & says we are not allowed to return as patients for owing $29 & its being turned over to agency. Seriously?!

Dr Pope and his staff are wonderful! Respectful for the children as well as the parents. They do not rush their appts they dont treat you like you are just another patient they treat you like family!

I took my 3 year old for a followup clean up yesterday, The staffs are so friendly and they make sure child is feeling comfortable and Pope is awesome with cool attitude and overall service was quick and good . They gave some price to him as well and he was super excited to visit again. They also have small play area in the waiting hall just in case you need to wait, the little ones dont get board .

Greatest dentist office ever! My children grew up with Dr. Pope. And then became clients of Dr. Campbell after they reached adulthood. Dr. Campbell Sn also did wisdom teeth extractions/surgery on both my kids. They were great with whatever gets thrown at them, and the assistance are such a delight!Still wish Dr. Campbell would stop cracking jokes with his assistants when being worked on. Great sense of humor, and its hard to stop from laughing while trying to hold perfectly still while being worked on.But they are all the greatest! I cant say enough good things about them, and highly recommend them.

I have three children that have been patients here for the last 10 years. I have always had a great experience. They make my children comfortable. I would recommend them.

My son absolutely loves DR. Pope! He is not only amazing with children he sits down and explains exactly what he is going to do and the assistants are incredible as well!!

My son has been a patient there since he was 5 yrs old now he is heading to college. Under the care of the doctors there he is in good shape especially with Dr Pham just recently added to the team.Dr Pham always cares about the health of the patient more than anything else. She is very thoughtful and really cares.I strongly recommend the practice in general and Dr Pham in particular.

I recently had a consult for a future extraction and other dental work for my child. The dental assistant was extremely rude and blatantly said (in discussion about my child being put under) that “we will hold the child down, you can’t do anything about it. If you aren’t strong enough to watch it, don’t come back when it happens” which alone wouldn’t make ANY parent feel secure in a decision to choose this practice. Following that statement she said “he will be so far under, we could preform brain surgery if we wanted” again, not a very professional comment and it certainly doesn’t ease the anxiety about the process. From there, she made me feel like an idiot for letting my (almost) 7 year old brush his own teeth. She looked at me with disgust because I let him have that independence. As if SHE wasn’t rude enough, then the dentist came in...my son has a few cavities, but nothing to the point of where he has EVER been in any discomfort or anything of that nature. The dentist was also extremely rude and made me feel like I wasn’t doing my job as a parent. He took two seconds and looked around my sons mouth and began to make snarky remarks. After his remarks, he asked me if I had government assistance (which I don’t) and I explained to him that I provide insurance for my child myself. He continued to push and push on me (as did the dental assistant) that I should find a way to get help from the government which I found odd. After reading other reviews, it made sense. They are a company run from greed. They want to collect every cent they possibly can and if I were getting help from the government, they would get that full ride....in conclusion of all of this, I wouldn’t recommend anyone take their child there. They will make you feel small, treat you like you aren’t a human being and try to get a big pay day at the expense of your child. STAY AWAY.

My Daughter goes here and I have NEVER had a problem with this office. They are the best dental office around here. Dr. Shetty is so funny and he makes every experience we have there a great one. His new Dental Assistant (DA) is also very awesome. She smiles and is very nice and makes sure that my daughter feels very comfortable before starting any procedure. The ENTIRE office I would rate at a level 10. Even the front office staff is great. They help accommodate you the best way they can and I am very greatful for that. My daughter has been going there for about 5 years now and we recently moved further up north but I will continue to drive down for every one of her appointments because Great service is just so hard to find these days.

My upcoming procedure will be a breeze. They have cleaned my teeth and have me ready to come in for my dental work which is way overdue. Once completed, I will be on a regular schedule to keep my smile looking great. It will also please my cardiologist to no end. Dr. Campbell is the guy to see if you need your smile renovated. The whole office is great to deal with. I would highly recommend their practice to everybody. I recently looked at some of the other reviews and was so surprised by what I read. A small number of people made statements that were so out of wack!! One going so far as to call Dr. Campbell a racist. There will always be someone you just cannot satisfy no matter how hard you try. This practice is extremely good and all of the staff are curtious, attentive and professional.

Very friendly staff and awesome dentists!!

Had a referral to take my 3 year old here from her regular dentist, had the visit yesterday and everything was GREAT from the time we walked thru the doors till we walked back out... The hygenist Amber was very sweet & talked to my daughter thru everything & when couldnt get the xrays it was no big deal, the Dentist (dont remember which one we saw) was also great and explained everything. the little kids area in the waiting room is a bonus & kept my 3 year old busy till we were called back. I will be making this my childrens regular dentist since we have had so many problems with the one they attend now.

Quick in-processing, took me straight in for prep work. Dr. begain work within 10 mins. explained process throughout. no-pain novacain shot, results very good for 3 fillings. Will require slight sanding to finalize bite. I will continue using them. Highly recommended.

I’m not one to write bad reviews. My usual reaction after a bad experience is never returning. Reading the bad reviews left from upset parents with basically the same story as mine, this is #2 on my list of negative reviews. Every negative review on this page is defiantly true! A majority of the details provided by the writer’s negative experience’s match the same unprofessional behavior I witnessed and endured during a oral exam for my child on the third and last visit. Dr, Shetty cared for my child on the first and second visit in a three month time span. We had a wonderful experience! Dr. Shetty created a cool, calm and professional environment. Price point given for services needed and later provided were A tad high but not shocking. Dr. Shetty made the experience pleasant, quick and displayed true concern for the comfort and care of my child! Our third visit... for a checkup ended in us never returning after a routine visit with Dr.Pope.. minutes after the exam began Dr Pope started verbally slamming my skills of maintaing my kid’s teeth while asking personal questions. He grilled me on my child’s mental and physical disabilities while making rude and erratic comments from the self formed opinions molded in the 10 plus mins he observed my child’s reaction from the crazy and hetic environment he created! The appointment ended with a price tag eqvilant to four mortgage payments on my home on a total of 4 large fillings on baby teeth. Shocked at the price, considering the removal of my four impacted wisdom teeth, by the top oral surgeon in town with a nurse on sight for sedation totaled half my kids’s cost towards baby teeth? I said we couldnt afford $2500 cost after our insurance covered $2000 of the bill total of $4500..that’s when he started yelling I should go apply for welfare! “Welfare will cover the cost..” welfare covers all the losers he sees! that if I took better care of kid teeth’s this wouldn’t happen. Next that lead him to ranting about how the health insurance companies are to blame for the price and I should call them and my state officials... shortly after that nightmare visit I brought my kid to freedom dental to follow up on the cavities.. I seriously questioned taking legal action after this discovery. they found zero of the four large cavities Dr. Pope claimed my kid had and sent us on our way after scheduling a appointment for sealants.. maybe Dr Pope is the one in need of welfare? How dare you take advantage of any parent that way! I’m no dentist but I doubt there’s a magic spell for healing four large cavities? Something stinks and it’s not my kid’s teeth rotting!! Dr. Pope, most children react negatively after witnessing a parent experience aggressive & abusive behavior.. I know mine kid was completely uncontrollable after witnessing your behavior...behavior that warrants hefty charges to sedate.. I can’t think of any kid that wouldn’t freak at the sight of sharp medal tools in the hand of person who creates such a hostel environment. I personally feel you have zero business placing judgment on any parent with the factless opinions you form during a twenty minute oral exam. After discovering my kid was cavitiy free I figured the only way to extort that kind of money is praying on the parent’s emotions and shaming parents to think they are the cause..reading the reviews that didn’t flow in all at the same time, like the customer’s were asked to write good reviews. I quickly noticed the same scam described in all the bad reviews. most parents want whats best for their children! You may guilt some into thinking they have done a horriable job managing the heath of their child to score that dollar but eventually the truth comes out. The bad reviews, bills and x-rays don’t lie. I felt no need explaining the details of my kid’s therapy and diagnosis after enduring the factless insults about my partnering skills which than lead to countless passive aggressive welfare comments I received from Dr. Pope.Totally enjoyed crying the whole way home worrying about the cost of fixing bogus cavities..

Best dentist in town, never had a problem with them and now I also recommended my husband. All family, one place :)

Our entire family just loves Virginia Dental! Dr. Shetty is amazing with the children and the care and consideration the children receive from the entire staff is helping them to develop good relationships with their dentist and take good dental hygiene seriously for a lifetime.

We were referred to VDAA by my dentist when my 6yr old daughters dentist was on vacation and she had a dental emergency. We arrived early during their lunch break- our appointment was made for a time during their posted lunch. When we saw a returning employee and tried to speak with her, she seemed bothered and muttered something to another employee who was with her. After checking in and filling out the necessary paperwork, we were told that only 1 parent could go back (when other families were allowed both parents). The dental assistant was extremely rude without knowing why we were there in the first place. Dr. Pope said what needed to be done, but initially acted like it was a bother. He asked about hygiene at home which i interpreted as to whether my child brushed her teeth daily. At the end of persuading them to help my daughter as she was in a lot of pain from an absessed tooth, Dr. Pope and his assistant said that they would help. They strapped her into a restraint and injected her gums while she screamed in fear. He used what looked like pliers to remove her tooth. After all was said and done, we left with my daughter even more terrified of dentists. If my situation was that i were looking for a new dentist, VDAA missed the mark on winning me over as a new patient on all counts. I feel that when one chooses a profession in healthcare, one doesntt get to choose who one helps. Everyone who walks in your door is there because they NEED it. We left feeling as though our afternoon was spent in a horror film, or at best, the Twilight Zone. I gave 1 star to comment on my experience- no because the star was deserved.

My wife and I have been with Dr, Jeff Campbell and Virginia Dental since first moving in to the area almost 20 years ago. In all of that time, we have been treated with care and courtesy by our dentist, and all of the Virginia Dental staff; and we plan on staying with him and them as long as we can.

I have always received exceptional care when using VDAA. I have recommended them to family and co-workers and so far the friends and family that have gone there have been pleased with their care as well.

I took my daughter in because she had a cavity and her primary dentist didnt feel safe doing the work since my daughter was scared and moving a lot. The Dentist at VDAA who saw her spent 20 seconds looking at her teeth and about two minutes talking too me. In his 20 second exam his diagnosis was much more severe and much more work needed to be done than the original Dentist. So all together less than three minutes with the doctor. They came back with a 1500 estimate for the work and stated I had to pay up front because my insurance wouldnt cover it. I made a call to my insurance provider and turns out they would cover it. I called VDAA back to ask about it and they said that they dont typically put notes in the insurance claims that it is a medical necessity since it isnt always necessity. I guess people just like to have their 4 year old daughters put to sleep through IV medication for fun. Better yet, they didnt even take the time with me to personalize the information since it was a necessity for her safety.The Dentist was short in communication, the office is one big open area right next to other patients (including a screaming kid and his mother screaming at him), and when I called back to ask about the insurance claim the woman seemed offended. I am going to another doctor, even if I have to pay twice the price.

I have this place 1800 dollars upfront and they wont let us come back because of 96 dollars THEY forgot to Bill me before I left... What a disgusting policy... Its been paid and they still dont let you come back...

I have not found another group of Dental clinicians in the Fredericksburg, VA area that I feel are as competent in all areas of patient care as Virginia Dental & Anesthesia Associates. Helen Mergenthal

From the moment I arrived to the moment I left it was a uncomfortable experience. The office staff were unfriendly and frankly rude. Moving to the clinical area it was fair at best. The staff and Doctor barley introduced themselves to my children. I expected more from a pediatric dental office. As a health care provider myself and as a mother of four, I will strongly discourage anyone I know from going to this practice.

WORST PLACE EVER TO GO THEY HAVE NO RESPECT AT ALL, NOT ON THE PHONE, NOT IN THE OFFICE, AND NOT IN THE SURGERY ROOM. THEY RUSH THROUGH EVERYTHING SO QUICK AND DONT EVEN EXAM YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN THE PROPER WAY. YES I MAY HAVE INSURANCE THROUGH THE STATE BUT YOU DONT HAVE TO BE SO RUDE ABOUT IT. I HATED CALLING TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS THE LADY WAS SO RUDE. IF YOU SCHEDULE A SURGERY AND YOUR CHILD WOKE UP SICK AND YOU HAVE TO CALL AND RESCHEDULE THEY WILL REFUSE TO SEE YOUR CHILD OR HIS/HER SIBLINGS ANYMORE. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK THERE.

My children and I have been going to VDAA since 2004. My two girls have graduated from the Pediatric side of the practice and are now on the adult side. My eldest even transferred her care to the Richmond office while she attended VCU. After graduating she moved her care back to the Fredericksburg office. Dr. Campbell (younger) is pretty funny. His humor and support staff made wisdom teeth removal as comfortable as that procedure can be. Regular checkups are a breeze. Dr. Onderdonk is newer to the practice, but she too is pretty amazing.Dr. Shetty and the hygienists on the Pediatric side have always been amazing. My children have never been afraid of the dentist and their experiences have always been pleasant at VDAA.As a working mom I appreciate the fact that when I show up for an appointment, care begins at the scheduled time. The staff at the front desk are professional and courteous.

I never write reviews, but this place was so horrible that I felt obligated to warn others. When I called inquiring about an appointment for our two year old daughter, who had a cavity, we were told to bring her in for a consolation visit. When the doctor, Dr. Shetty, finally decided to show up he did not even bother to introduce himself and he was very abrasive with my daughter. She did not want to open her mouth and started to cry. I finally managed to calm her down enough to have him look at her cavity. He barely glanced at it and then immediately took of without saying anything. Another staff member came up and immediately started talking about money and all the additional procedures that she would need. They said that she would have to be put under and the anesthesia alone would cost over $1,500 after insurance. Then they tried to tell us that when our two year old daughter was unconscious we would not be allowed in the room with her. I asked if I could just stand in the corner and they said no. There was no way I would leave my two year old daughter unconscious in a room with only male doctors. They then charged us over $100 for just the consolation after insurance. I took her to another dentist in Stafford, that was actually respectable, and they said the cavity was so small that it would not be worth the risk of putting her under. They also said there was no reason at all for any of the additional procedures Dr. Shetty had said were needed. This place deserves absolutely no stars or anyones business. If you care about your childrens well being and safety do NOT go to this crooked, scam of an office.

Before I chose them, I asked if they worked with children w/ auti2and of course they said yes. It was obvious they hadnt. My son had to be put to sleep. The anesthesiologist was the biggest douche bag I have ever met, and Ive been to Iraq and dealt w terrorist. Not only was completely arrogant, he kept referring to my son as them (as in all autistic people). After the surgery, he comes out to get me but before he takes me to my 3 year old child that is crying for me, he says did you take care of everything financial at the front desk?!!! I have no issues paying for treatment and it already been cleared before I let him go back but yhe fact that he was going to stop.me from getting to my child that needed me was ridiculous and upsetting. Anyone that has dealt with autism knows that in certain emotional situations you become your childs punching bag, they cant help it. My son was VERY distraught and VERY combative after the surgery. So the douche bag anesthesiologist says hold his arms. Yeah cause I wasnt doing that already. I asked him to leave because he served NO purpose and he refused, even became instantly rude and told.me I should have brought help for my son to be able to control him. Oh and if you have insurance be prepared to do ALL the work to make sure you wont pay for service upfront then wait on your refund, incase insurance doesnt pay....the ONLY person in that office with any sort of human quality was the dental assistant. I wish Id gotten her name cause she was my saving grace today.

The people who work in this office need to take a class on How to treat patients with respect !! They are rude and lie about what is covered by your insurance ! Please beware in going here with your kids, you will more than likely wish you had found a different dental office !!! I would not take my dog to this joke of a dental facility !
