Unfortunately, a year ago I went to see Dr. Williams for treatment that required a tooth extraction and my current bridge work needed replacing because of it. The whole process turned into a nightmare that left me in pain for five months and in tears with each visit because he did not know why after he treated me, I was having so much pain. Sadly I spent more time with the dental assistant than the actual dentist. Had he taken a little more concern, paid more attention or had a more hands on approach he might have been able to get a better understanding of the problem and saved me months of suffering. I eventually decided to get a second opinion with another dentist outside of Dr. Williams care . This outside dentist was so amazing and thorough he was able to tell me what the problem was and even called Dr. Williams to share his findings with him. It turned out that Dr. Williams had left tooth fragments from the extraction in my gums. This outside dentist called me at home to check on me several times throughout this process and I wasn’t even his patient. Dr. Williams who caused all my pain, never over the five months while in is care called me or shown any genuine care. Lastly, after Dr. Williams removed fragments and I was finally able to get my permanent bridge cemented in, he allowed the dental assistant to do this without checking behind her to make sure everything was done properly??? When I got in my car and looked closely in the mirror, I noticed all the cement was still stuck all around my teeth and in between my teeth!! I had to hold back my tears of frustration and went back inside and showed the dental assistant the sloppy work she did. She cleaned it up much better afterwards. I would never recommend anyone to this dentist. Shame on you Dr. Williams. Worst dental experience ever! Sadly I don’t place any blame on the dental assistant because you are as good as the people training you. Why did I wait so long response? I relocated, started new job and we were in the middle of a pandemic. However, I felt it was my responsibility to share my experience because I rely heavily on these ratings now to help me make better decisions on whomever I do business with in the future.

We called for an emergency repair for our toddler - tooth extraction / abscess. They scheduled us for the same week. Dr. Williams and technicians did a great job! Our family has a new dentist for us adults and older kids. Staff is friendly and straightforward. Thank you!

Became patients when they very first opened, and it was wonderful. It has changed so much. They used to be so great with kids and so welcoming. But we are no longer patients. Multiple fillings fell out from my daughter and my husband. And a spacer that was placed fell out within 5 hours. I agree with the other reviews; it went from warm welcomes and conversation to not even a hello or goodbye, no details or forewarnings, no direction. We were willing to deal with that, but I began to realize how much money we were wasting on poor dental work that wasn’t helping the health of our family’s teeth. He also said my two front teeth were “bunny teeth” at one point which I brushed off, but is something someone doesn’t forget. We are happy we’ve moved on. But I am sad that it opened with so much promise and kindness years ago, only for the practice to change so drastically once it got so popular.

I will not return. My filling has come out for the 2nd time. The dentist started to drill and my mouth was not numb.It hurt so bad! Sloppy work from the front desk to the dentist.

Very disappointed. I had been there back in 2017 and 2018 and my experience was pleasant, so much so that I took my 7 year old daughter there as well. Just went in last week with a severe toothache and in need of an emergency extraction. I was in such severe pain I had never experienced in my life. When I go inside I notice my face mask was ripped so I asked if they had one to spare. I was told from the front desk that I could buy a paper mask (the blue medical paper masks) for $5. I bought a box of 50 of those for $11.99 at Costco. Although Im not saying they need to give to patients free masks (although even various retail stores will offer you one if you are in need), I certainly wouldnt expect a dental office to want to make a profit off masks that are needed for the health and safety of EVERYONE. I was so shocked in a very disheartening way. Once I turn down the $5 paper mask and kept my ripped one, I went into the dental chair. After the dental hygienist did a quick assessment, Dr. Vernon Williams came in. He barely muttered a hello and told me my tooth needed to be extracted and said it was my own fault for not following through with the treatment plan from 2017 (he was correct, unfortunately I did not have the money, as we all know how expensive dental work can be). Once I was properly numbed up Dr. Vernon Williams again comes in and doesnt say one word to me, not what to expect, what he is going to do to remove the tooth, that I may feel some pressure but should feel no pain etc......NOTHING! He just starts pulling and working at the tooth and as he is doing it he is literally ripping the corners of my mouth (which I understand may happen but to not acknowledge how bad it was or how he was ripping the corners of my mouth or maybe stop for just 1 second and ask if Im OK, again .......just nothing. When I left and took my mask off at home, the corners of my mouth were ripped and bleeding). Once he finished and got the tooth out, he literally just walked away.....did not say ONE WORD. Did not say bye, sorry I had to be so rough but your tooth didnt want to come out or even just telling me that I need to brush more. Apparently I wasnt worth 2 words. Again, I had never had a toothache or experienced the kind of pain from an infected tooth before and as bad as that tooth made me feel, Dr. Vernon Williams made me feel even worse. I know we all have bad days but there was no reason to treat anyone so insignificant as I was made to feel. Even a simple Hi and Bye would have sufficed. If you cant have a bed-side manner for ALL patients then do something else, especially when someone is coming to you in the worst physical pain theyve experienced in their life (minus giving birth of course)! If you do go to Family First Dental (like I said, in 2017 and 2018 I had a pleasant experience), I pray no one makes you feel the way Dr. Vernon Williams made me feel. Im thinking unlike their slogan, for whatever reason, I didnt deserve the best. Take care and be safe :-

The quality of profiency and professional ism from the dental techs and dentist is very good, but the level of customer responsiveness, at times, has been poor. We have had two billing issues that were unresolved, the first being given x-ray s that we didnt want or need. They insisted were get them anyway, and made us pay the difference (from insurance) . Second, we received a Bill 8 months after the service performed..thats unacceptable. We wish the best for this practice, bit its time to go elsewhere.

Really bad experience for my child and all my family with this doctor

Ive had several fillings that were done by this dentist come loose within 2 years (and Im not rough on my teeth).I told him that I was having severe pain AFTER he did fillings for literal months. Turns out that some of the filling came out and it was infected. I have permanent trigeminal nerve damage because of this.He didnt tell me about the loose filling or that he was replacing the filling before he did it. I had to press to be told what happened.I would get a phone call about 2 weeks after almost every appointment saying I owed them money, even though I always paid for my treatment in full after every visit. Usually it was a couple hundred dollars more that they demanded immediately.I found a new dentist a year and a half ago that I love, but I still get phone calls (this happened again just last week) from Family First where they ask to speak to a different patient. I tell them its a strong number and I dont see them, but this still happens about once a month.

My daughter and I have been going there for years. I thought the staff was professional and friendly. I made an appt. for our yearly cleaning and got a call the day before our appointment letting me know the scheduler had not left enough time for me to get my deep cleaning. Im confused, I told her I was not after a deep cleaning, which would have cost hundreds of dollars PER side. I just wanted my yearly cleaning/exam. She said the dentist refused to see me if I didnt get the deep cleaning. Essentially they wanted to force me to get something I did not want and could not afford. I canceled our appt and they have lost two patients. I will find another dentist who does not try to extort people for money.

Dr. Williams and his staff are awesome!! He does not just do great with adults, but he also does well with children. He has taken care of my daughters first few cavities, without ANY trouble! She even says he is a good dentist. He explains everything in her terminology so she can understand, and he makes the experience quick and easy! Looking for an excellent dentist? Definitely stop here! You won’t be disappointed!

One of the best dentist I’ve ever had! Dr. Williams is very personable, and has great care for his patients. He has been our entire family’s dentist over the years, and we couldn’t be happier! If your are looking for a dentist that puts you to ease, this is the place to go.

The heavy set lady up front with blonde hair and glasses is very unprofessional. I always have to come in for two appointments because they never complete it during the scheduled appointment. Asked for x rays to be sent to my endo office the previous day of procedure and the day of my appointment I have to follow up to call them while I’m in the chair and stay on the phone while they send my x rays over. Also, went in for an appointment and I had a big filling and my concern was if I needed a root canal instead. He said that the filling would last, next thing I know, I need a root canal within less than a month. Would not recommend going here.

I’ve been going to the dentist for a couple of years now and it had its ups and downs. But lately they have really improved a whole lot. The staff in outstanding and the quality of care is great. I will highly recommend this dentist to anyone who is looking for great service and a caring staff.

I would advise anyone searching for a dentist not to use this office! They are only out to get money from the insurance companies and patients. My family always carry two policies and in previous years never had copayments. I started using this office in 2018 and had to pay copayments for him just to look at our teeth for a couple of minutes and then schedule us to come back. The worst thing was today when I was told that I had exhausted all of my visits for the year and had to pay for a visit again, only to be referred to another dentist for care. I don’t understand how all of the visits were exhausted and no work was ever done at those appointments. That just means that the practice was paid to look at teeth for a few minutes. It seems like a scam to me and I will not contribute one more dime to this practice! Most of the staff are rude and insensitive. The only one person I trusted in the office was Riley and I hope she finds a practice that deserves her being employed one day soon.

In the middle of a pandemic, this office made sure that they fit me in the same day when I broke a tooth and was in pain. All of the staff is super friendly and professional. The work they did was amazing on my temporary crown. Not to mention, I listened to the receptionist call other patients and reschedule appointments due to Covid-19 with a very professional yet personal demeanor. The service was excellent and staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Disappointed in opening schedule. My appointment was for 8:30 and they did not open the doors until exactly 8:30. Especially for a first time patient, this put me behind and late by the time I filled out the paperwork. I sat in y car waiting for them to open for 15 minutes! Their requirement to pay in advance was a little disconcerting and something I have never run into with medical treatment. Sorta like prepaying for a restaurant meal. The first time charge was a little high, but I knew it in advance so I was prepared. I need to have 2 caps and was given the cost after the appointment. At nearly $1200 each I guess they will have to wait. Uninsured and 73 years old, putting over $2,300 into my mouth is a little hard to swallow! I have to look for a more affordable option. I did not pay much more than that for the used car I bought 2 years ago.

I found Family First Dental online, I was impressed, everyone was professional. I have decided to make Dr. Williams and his staff my family dentist. The one thing I was impressed with was that he did not do unnecessary x-rays. I would recommend Family First Dental to my family and friends. I give them 5 stars.

My daughter and I have been a patients with this office for the last 3 years . I was late 12 minutes and got cancelled my appointment twice after i drove for 45 minutes and explain my situation .awful staff and manager !! will NEVER go this place !!

I was referred to Family First Dental by a good friend of mine and I have been going to see Dr. Williams and his staff for the entire time they have been open, which has been for about 7 years now. I havent had a single bad experience here. The staff is fantastic, they all know me by name and treat me wonderfully. I have had deep cleanings, whitening, regular visits, great advice and recently an extraction on my wisdom tooth. I wont lie, I was a bit nervous at first because I have had them since 17 and I am now 33. I went in, they numbed me up, Dr. Williams had my tooth out in literally 1.5 minutes and the next day I barely have any pain. The process was flawless and quick. I wouldnt trust my mouth with anyone else.Thank you for your care and precision!

Wolf in sheeps clothing. He supposed to fix all my teeth for 7500$ . All he did make me a bridge which doesnt fit. Its to tight on the right side and the left side is loose. He didnt introduced himself but one-time at my first appointment. Any initial app he didnt introduced himself just looked in my mouth . He also didnt let me know the steps of the procedure. Didnt tell me that he was going to give me shots to numb my mouth. Staff was great Dr was not. All he was worried about the money and get me out of there asap.

Dr.Williams was very warm. He told me everything he was planning to do before he did it. It was like going to family seeing the smiles and laughs with the staff. This was only my first visit so prayerfully the rest will go equally as well.

Its unfortunate that we have to say goodbye to this dentist after over 4 years of going to them. About a year ago I started noticing that the quality of care was declining. I suppose this happened with the other office opened. Ive also been in situations where I or my family was estimated one thing and billed for another. I know an estimate is just an estimate, but my husband was given an estimate for one type of filling and then another was used and billed to our insurance who doesnt cover it. At no point was he informed that the filling type was changing or needed to be changed and no new estimate was given for our review. We were hit with a bill much higher than we anticipated. I will miss Dr. Williams and a few members of his staff, but I think its time to go to a office that has better billing procedures and doesnt use bait and switch tactics.

What a great find this dental office turned out to be. The dentist is someone youd be lucky to have for a friend. The staff were fantastic... friendly and professional. I came to Family First dental based on a friends referral. My daughter and I both love it. It is very clean and high tech. We moved recently, but just returned for a second visit today. I will be getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow, and I think all should go as well as it can! Super amazing staff!

Ive taken my 3 boys here a couple of times and each time everyone is very kind to us. The thing that I really like is that they let me go back with my older son when he had his fillings. I know a lot of places wont let parents go with their children when having dental work and it was important I find a place that would not prevent me from being with my children. Dr. Williams is really good with the kids which is very appreciated! I highly recommend this practice!

Family first dental is by far the best dental experience I have had in my life. As someone who has had many dental issues in the past, the team at family first has been the most helpful, informative, and friendly of any dental office I have been to. Dr. Williams is wonderful and will keep you comfortable and informed while fixing whatever issue you may have. I was very nervous about having a tooth extracted, but the wonderful team there put me at ease and the procedure went much smoother than I could have imagined. Jessie the dental hygienist was also extremely helpful, courteous, and skilled. I could go on and on about how great they were, but the easiest way to put it is that if you need dental work done in the Fredericksburg area you are best off going to family first dental.

I have always hated going to the dentist, but I really like this dentist office! Everyone is kind and helpful. You can watch tv and get your teeth cleaned at same time! They also provide you with a summary that clearly explains what you will be responsible for (for other services not fully covered by your insurance exp fillings and such) no surprises!

I found the gem of Dentistry. Staff is amazing, my hygienist was by far the best I ever had and the dentist, Dr. Williams is superb. The work they do is thorough and top notch and they dont try sell unnecessary procedures.

Ever since we found out about family first Dental through a friend, my Family and i have been very satisfied. my husband who always hated dentist now trust DR. William and his Staff because they made him feel at ease, my Children enjoy going to see the dentist and that because everyone makes us feel so welcome. This place was great. Thorough and quick. My hygienist, Stephanie, was very knowledgeable and briefed me on everything that was going on with my teeth. She performed a detailed cleaning, X-rays, and even removed the most nuanced of stains. The doctor confirmed everything Stephanie briefed me on and provided more details on problem areas and prevention.I think one of the best things about this place is that they dont rush in to fix things that may be warning signs but are easily addressed through preventative measures (no gouging of the pocketbook!). I left a very happy customer and will definitely return!

So disappointed to have to leave a bad review. But the office staff here is extremely rude. We had no issues when I took my daughters but since Ive been going here for a couple months now Ive had issues with billing and the office staff every time Ive gone in. Was told Id pay a certain amount and then when I got there to pay it was quoted $300 more. Told it was an issue with insurance, but never given any notice ahead of time. Was also told Id be given a discount for a special they were running, only to arrive and be told I was not going to get that discount. I was very patient and calm with them, but I will definitely be taking my business and my children somewhere else. For a family dentist office they seem much more concerned with their bottom line. And making money. Definitely feel like something sketchy is going on with their billing department.

My daughter was diagnosed with several cavities by her dentist and I brought her to Family First Dental for a second opinion. Dr Williams gave me an honest diagnosis and told me that my daughter had only one cavity. I am so thankful that I brought her here because otherwise, she would have had two more fillings than she needed. My daughter didnt even feel him doing the filling. This office is so friendly and Dr Williams is so wonderful that my children love to come to the dentist. My husband and I also go there now as well! I highly recommend coming to Family First Dental.

Highly recommend to everyone with children. We brought our daughter for her first check up. The entire experience was excellent. Every person we interacted with was knowledgeable and courteous, and the office is cery clean. I love the TVs at the chairs; cleaning a toddlers teeth is challenging at best, but this was actually a wonderful experience. Thank you!!

They have a $25 broken appointment fee and although I dont care for that policy, I get it. However, if you are going to charge a fee for missed appointments there should be an adequate reminder procedure in place. They said they waive the first missed appointment fee but refused to do that for me. When it boils down to it the problem isnt the fee at all but how the situation was handled and how extremely rude I was spoken to. I made my appointment 6 months in advance and had no reminders for the appointment until the morning of, about an hour before the appointment. The lady I spoke with asked if I could come in later that day. I was unable to, so we rescheduled for the following week. Not once did she mention this fee. I received a bill in the mail and called to discuss the situation with someone. The ladies I spoke with were rude and had zero customer service skills as well no business sense whatsoever. Its a shame because I did like the dentist but my family of five will be taking our business elsewhere. There are too many options for dentists to deal with rude people unwilling to help in such a simple situation.

We have been getting dental care with Family First for over 5 years. They are the best in town! We have lived in a lot of communities all over the southeast U.S., and Family First is by far the best dentist we’ve ever used - for toddlers, teens, young adults and parents. They make you feel like family!

This was my second trip to Dr. Williams office and I was again very impressed. The office culture seems very efficient, the atmosphere is highly professional and the staff is friendly and responsive.I appreciate that everyone seems to have a genuine conversation with you and that they move from one task to another, while explaining what they are doing.Its the best experience Ive had at a Dentist yet. I highly recommend them.

I just wanted to share an experience I had with Family First Dental. I know this dentist office comes highly recommended so I decided to take my family and I there in the fall of 2014. I had cleanings done and then personally needed to go back due to needing fillings. (Dont forget to floss yall!) I didnt have dental insurance and was told by Family First to sign up with Delta and then a percentage of my filings would be covered. Well 14 months later, I receive an invoice from Family First saying I owed money on the fillings from fall of 2014. I look back at my records and think this is a mistake, phone call is made, and no its not a mistake. Family First has now decided to charge me because Delta did not cover the composite filling, even though I was assured they did. The office was extremely rude and basically said the lady who told me this, no longer worked there, and I needed to pay.Its not really about the amount of money, it is more about the customer service. I just wanted to share, so no one else is put in the same predicament. I will not be returning or recommending this office to anyone.

Dr. Williams and all of his staff are always wonderful to my children! They all go above and beyond to make sure they feel safe and calm during all of their treatments!! I will never go to any other dentist! It doesnt get any better than family first!!

I am new to VA and took my daughter to a dentist about a month ago. I was less than pleased. I decided to try somewhere new for myself in hopes of finding an office my whole family would transfer to. I was so happy with my experience today. I left a voicemail Saturday, got a phone call back today and was able to see them within an hour of my return call (I am sure that was due to the luck of a canceled appt, but still!) The staff was all very pleasant. I will be transferring my daughter here and referring my fiancé ASAP. Great experience, up to date technology and treatment.

I had my first ever appointment today. After having a horrible experience at a dental office in the area I was very nervous. I also had to bring my two young children with me. The office stay were over the top helpful! The hygienist was very inviting and helped me with the kids so I could remain calm. The dentist was absolutely amazing and I loved that he didnt try to push anything unnecessary on me. Lastly the people checking out were so helpful with helping keep the kids occupied and busy so I could make my future appointments. I wish we werent moving in a few months so I could continue being seen there.

My daughter had her first ever dental appointment with Family First. From the moment we walked in, the front desk staff was accommodating (thank you for putting the TV to Disney Jr.; I know the other patients may have been annoyed, but it was incredibly thoughtful for my girl!). The hygienist was top notch! My daughter was smiling and laughing the entire time! And the doctor had some great advice for me and my daughter to help her developing teeth. They even gave her a special prize for her first visit! On top of that, they got us into our appointment ON TIME!!! We were out in less than thirty minutes. Not only am I thrilled with Family First, I plan on switching to their office for my teeth and my husbands. Best dental office around!

Seriously, this place was great! They got me a same day appointment, the staff was super nice and helpful, and the doc sat down with me and explained everything until I completely understood. This will now be our family dentist! I highly recommend them!

Went in two days ago for a cleaning and info about my molar that needed to be pulled. They gave me so much great information! And they were able to pull my tooth the next day! Everyone was super friendly!

Having recently moved here from Cincinnati, Ohio, I wanted to find a dentist who was up to date on the most recent dental technology and was concerned about my dental health. I would gladly recommend this dental office to anyone.

This will be my family dentist forever. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to children. I took my 6 year old to another dentist in the area Monday (12/17/18) and was told he had 8 cavaties and needed $1650 worth of work that my insurance would not cover. They talked me into choosing the general anesthesia by telling me horror stories of the other choices. They quoted me and I just couldnt pay that so took the quote and left. Something seemed off with that office so I called Family First Dentistry to get a second opinion. I was seen the very next day (12/18/18) . Went to the appointment and Dr. Williams looked over the x-rays that were taken at the other facility and then gave my son an exam. Guess what? Nothing needed to be done. Not one thing. They couldnt even find the cavaties that the other office was talking about. I will forever be a patient there and will recommend them in a heart beat. The office is top notch, top of the line equipment, and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Cant say enough good about them!!! 💚

I took my 3 year old daughter to get a cleaning and shes a tough sell when it comes to getting in that chair and having strangers put strange instruments in her mouth. We didnt quite convince her this time but we made progress. The staff and Dr. Williams in particular was very kind and patient with her. No doubt shell be comfortable enough to actually get cleaned before long.

This was our first visit and my husband and I were impressed. We moved to Fredericksburg 6 months ago, and I dreaded selected a dentist. Dr. Williams was very nice and did not overwhelm us with procedures. The staff was friendly and professional.

I was unhappy with another dentist in the area and started shopping for another. I read the reviews and said hopefully this staff will be much better. Boy were they. From check-in to check out the staff was awesome. Dr. William listened to my concerns and took his time to address my concerns with options fully explained. I am completely in agreement with the reviews here. I highly recommend them.

I was very impress with the overall experience, front desk was excellent as well as all the staff and treatment,very friendly.My son felt really comfortable and he really liked it. It is a really nice and neat place!

I had a emergency with a nasty toothache and was seen within 10 minutes of calling. Dr Williams is always great and explains everything in detail. Definitely will recommend him to anyone looking for a new yet great dentist!!

Went today for the first time. The office staff was kind and the doctor and assistants were great. I had a problem with a tooth/gum, and the lady cleaning my teeth was so gentle. I could not feel a thing as she was cleaning around the sensitive tooth.

I have honestly never liked going to the dentist but I was new in town and needed to find a new one. I am so glad that I stumbled across Family First Dental. Dr. Williams and his staff were all very kind and welcoming, they made me feel extremely comfortable. It is just a happy environment and I left smilling for more than the reason that they did an AWESOME job cleaning my teeth. My husband is going to set up an appointment now and Im looking forward to going back! I have never wrote a review for a business but they definitely deserve the praise. I highly recommend them!

It has been several years since I have visited a dentist. Prior dentists I visited were such disappointments. I recently had my 1st dentist appt with Family First. Love them!! Stephanie, dental hygienist was absolutely a sweetheart and professional. Dr. Williams welcoming and professional. I highly recommend them.

Worst dental experience ever. My husband goes in last August to have a filling repaired. They shot him up full of too much novocaine and when they went to fix his tooth they started drilling on the wrong tooth!! When he stopped them and asked what they were doing they acted dumb like they didnt remember he was there to get a tooth fixed not a different tooth filled. They basically forced him to have the rest of that tooth filled and then fixed the correct tooth. Then they had the audacity to ask for payment on a tooth he didnt want filled! When he told them he wasnt paying for their mistakes they allowed him to leave. Later that day he was still so numb he felt like half his face was paralyzed so we called and the dentist refused to speak with him. They just called and advised they want to have his balance paid and again we feel this should not have to he paid since it was the dentists error to work on the wrong tooth. If this keeps going we will file complaints with the ADA and BBB. Do not use this dentist. They also claim I have a missed appt fee when I dont. Weve had nothing but issues with this dental office.

The staff is absolutely AMAZING! My 8 year old was terrified to have her most recent visit, and her anxiety was noticeably high. Fortunately the dental hygenist interacted with her throughout the entire process, and before I knew it she was smiling and laughing. The doctor was also phenomenal with my daughter! His presence and ability to communicate with her was way beyond any expectations I had before entering the office. I had a terrible experience. The dentist spent 3 minutes with me no explanation of what the problem was just said it needed a filling. I came in with a broken tooth. I was given to much novocaine and it was painful my gums still hurt today. I will not be returning there. Not only was it a terrible experience but a received a very large bill. When I called them they told me that I never paid them when I received treatment I pulled up my bank statement and gave them amount paid. Watch out for these people . From beginning to end it was the WORST experince.

I felt very rushed like the dentist just wanted me gone, mabey I got him on a bad day? If so, not very professional.
