So wait times are unending no matter the reason. People are waiting 7 and more hours, sleeping in their cars outside the facility hoping for their turn eventually when online the ER shows a wait time of 13-16 minutes, surreal! Be honest and update your times to hours or days if thats what it takes because no, you dont see patients in a timely manner. We were there for over 4.5.Once finally in, you wont ever get to see a MD, only a PA who once you dont agree to her idea of testing, she wont talk to you again during your entire stay... Seriously, paying thousands of dollars for an ER visit to be treated like that is unprofessional, rude and a disgrace for medical practice. And I dont know when PAs from geriatric have become pediatric PAs? PA Meredith Roth is definitely the last one I want to encounter again.

It’s time to do better! The excuses have got to stop and Lutheran needs to do better for their patients. Invest, expand, or revamp, but for the love of God do better!Having patients wait for 6-8 hours for a CT and the results is unacceptable. Having a patient starving with not one person offering food or water for 8 hours is unacceptable (was allowed to eat and drink and didn’t interfere with testing). Making a patient wait almost two hours for the IV team is unacceptable. Having a patient wait half an hour to be unhooked to use the restroom is torture and unacceptable! Having a patient ring the call button repeatedly with no response is scary and unacceptable. Having loud monitors beeping for hours when a patient is feeling ill with no attention is unacceptable. It’s time to do better. Having a patient feel like they’ve just had a traumatic experience BECAUSE of your ER has got to stop. Fix the problems and stop making excuses for poor management, poor standards, and poor services.

If I could give you a negative star rating I would!!!My 22yo son brought my 17yo daughter to the Er for me due to me fracturing my foot and on a scooter. Everything was fine (even thought they were put in the hallway)when he was approached about being on FaceTime. He was told he was not allowed and he got off right away. He proceeded to ask her why nobody said anything the whole time. One of the nurses got rude with him and he told her to stop being vindictive. She walked away and got the cop and was kicked out of the Er..So now my 17yo is in there by herself and staff proceeded to ask her if she felt safe and who was he to her and who is her ride ( My son is mixed). My daughter called me very upset to that line of questioning considering they are very close...I will nor my children EVER step foot in your doors again

Went in because my Dr referred me after seeing her right at closing hours.I had slipped on the ice the day before and my shoulder was causing a lot of pain and I couldn’t move my arm out from my side.I’ve never been in an actual room there. Always are overloaded and put ya in bed in the hallway. So they took x-rays after waiting in the hallway for over an hour. Waited some more in the hallway. While waiting in the hall, the room across from me, maybe 3-4ft away a drunk guy was causing all sorts of a ruckus. The police were even involved and the guy was acting like he was gonna get violent.Nobody asked me if I wanted to be moved. This went on pretty much the whole time. Just a few feet from me. Finally when they had a scary face to face altercation, I got up and asked if somebody would please move me. After I got up and moved myself they finally grabbed my bed and moved it. I should ‘t have had to even ask.So besides that, the Dr comes back and says its just a contusion and that I should be able to goto work. Which is like a bruise under the skin.I thought it sounded fishy cuz I couldn’t move my arm without help.So I went to my Dr the next day.I have a complete tear of my rotator cuff AND a torn bicep.Contusion my arse.

Husband went to Lutheran ER for my 6yr old son. Physician did a good job. However physicians bill came from APP of Indiana ED, PLLC stating it was mailed to our insurance, but insurance has no record. Called APP and waited on phone for 35 minutes only to get lady (Shirley) who said she didn’t have insurance info on file and couldn’t speak w me about bc my husband signed as the guarantee. She also kept saying the physician is separate from hospital (which I knew), but she couldn’t get our insurance info from them that was copied the evening of service.

Husband went in for severe stomach pain. PA/ER doctor told us scan indicated colon cancer that was also in liver. Asked if it could be something else and was told no. Went to colon-rectal doctor and found out based on labs and scans, it was diverticulitis and a liver hemangioma-non cancerous. Worse bedside manner by ER doctor and providing diagnosis on an radiologist impression vs any other diagnostic tests. Completely traumatized and devastated for a week until we got the final results due to an inept doctor that could have kept her opinion and the radiologist’s impression to herself and just referred us to a specialist with a polite “something is going on but you need to see a specialist”.Good news is the nurse was AMAZING and very SYMPATHETIC. Hats off to her.

I was seen at the ER this morning for severe pain of neck and shoulder that has me incapacitated and unable to function for the last 48 hours. I was taken back almost immediately and my nurse Christy was so kind and took such good care of me. I was seen by Dr. Janardhanan Veeran Davy who listened and was also so kind to me and cared about my problem and pain. He Ordered a CT scan which I got very quickly and May was the technician who helped me onto the table since I couldn’t do it by myself. She was very kind and patient to make sure not to cause more pain getting on the table. I received 2 shots of medications for the pain and sent home with a referral for an orthopedic surgeon. I was very very afraid to go to any hospital because of covid and didn’t want to go. But my husband made me Go and I am appreciative he did. Everyone treated me very well and took care of my immediate issue and I felt very at ease there. Thank you ER staff for being so good to me. You are heroes working very hard treating sick patients in this pandemic and yet still were so understanding and caring to me. God Bless.🙏🏻

They saved my husband. But they are very wrong with how they treat their patients. I couldnt even take our son back to see his father when he was on a ventilator and we didnt know if he was going to make it or not. Then when he woke up I let him FaceTime with our son and they freaked out about that overall really really really bad attitudes and experience if its due covid-19 and you need to have better things in place. An eleven-year-old dont understand that he cant go in cuz hes not 18 dont make sense nor is it fair I would hope that they would fix this for the sake of other families. After youre already in a state where you dont know if your loved one is going to make it or not and you have children that you have to explain it to they could be more compassionate as if it was their family.

My husband and I had a extremely upsetting experience at the ER dept. I completely understand that the rules at the hospital have tightened with Covid, but does not justify treating concerned family members with no compassion. My husband and I arrived at the ER after being called by my husbands elderly father, telling us his mom was being taken by ambulance to the ER. His mother was in critical condition when she arrived. We came in and told the lady at the front desk why we were there. We were informed we could not go back, my husband could not swap out with his dad, and that if his dad came out, he couldn’t go back. At this point my husband called his dad, and the cardiologist who was speaking with his father, said he was coming out to speak with us. We were waiting for the doctor when a security guard game over and told us abruptly that we needed to “get out”. He said they didn’t want anyone in the waiting area. My husband was trying to explain that we were waiting on the doctor, and he said “I DON’T CARE, GET OUT!” At this point the doctor came out. The security guard continued being nasty. As my husband walked back with the doctor, he turned to me and yelled, “YOU, OUTSIDE!” I cannot believe how we were treated. I’m not sure if my mother in law will make it through the night. These people acted like the militia! To make things worse. My husband said after he came out, that the staff in the ER had on minimum PPE. If this is about covid, and keeping people safe, why don’t we start by having your own staff wear proper PPE. I would not recommend Lutheran hospital to anyone!!

The doctor and nurses seemed stressed but thats not abnormal and they still were cheerful despite that. However I had to wait 3 hours to get stitches and by that time my wound had clotted (thankfully lol) and ended up just getting a liquid bandaid since it had started reattaching due to how long it took them to see me. Also they didnt tell me that I would be billed twice so be careful because they will bill you two different ways (for services and physician) but not tell you. I have never been anywhere that refuses to tell you that you have will receive two seperate bills and then fight you on the phone about having received two different bills and deny the existance of the other bill. So be careful about their billing.

I was extremely disappointed in Lutheran Hospitals care and lack of professionalism. I had a relative admitted to Lutheran, and I did not appreciate the quality of care and lack of professionalism. For example, my relative would use the call button to receive help to use the restroom. My relative would be waiting on average of 20-25 minutes. My relative would be pressing the call button multiple upon multiple times, and still no answer. I took it upon myself to help my relative use the restroom after waiting 25 minutes to only to get scolded by the nursing staff for doing so (even though I have a 4 year degree in the medical field and am fully qualified to take a patient to the restroom). It was irritating to watch the nursing staff laughing and talking at their stations while there was work to be done. Also, I did not appreciate the ER doctors bedside manner. We had to wait about 23 hours to see an ER doctor. After I complained about how long we have waited, a doctor finally came and commented I would have come sooner if I knew the family was present. Seriously? I could tell the doctor had an attitude. He made sarcastic and patronizing remarks to us. He was not helpful in giving us direction on what to do. He would just say Well I am just an ER doctor? We will never go back to Lutheran after this experience. They have forgotten the basics of medical care. It is truly sad.

I would rather die than go to this hospital for any emergency. The worst hospital I have ever been to. The moment I walked in, the employees have a smug look on their face and are extremely rude. I was questioned about my visit, meanwhile two other people walked in with no problems and just pointed where they were going, but not questioned. Why not give everyone the same treatment if youre going to hassle one person about their visit? Even after I gave them the paper for the appointment, they continued to hassle me, before eventually allowing me in. Once attempting to check in, they told me at the front desk that they had no records in file of my name or any appointment. I provided them with a paper form of their own staffs signatures provided with the appointment, so there was no excuse. I had to wait an additional 25 minutes. After all the check ins, I was able to eventually see a nurse and Dr. Goldstein. I have to say my first impression of Dr. Goldstein were not the slightest bit comforting nor pleasing. Hes extremely inappropriate and disturbing for a doctor to speak/behave in a manner he does. He completely invades any guests that you bring along, their space and inappropriately touches them, when youre the one to be seen. His comments and remarks are distasteful and he has little to no knowledge of how to communicate with people. I will look into how to further report this doctor for his unsafe practices and procedures. He had never given any medication after a surgery either. Do not go to this hospital! I truly hope they are shut down or their staff is replaced. People do not pay you for nothing to just sit around and carry on conversations about nothings when theres work to be done.

I’m writing this because of my experience with Lutheran when my 33 year old nonverbal, autistic son spent 6 days at Lutheran. I received an email from a Lutheran survey company and couldn’t do it because they had my son’s birthdate wrong. Shortly after my son was admitted, I asked a nurse if there was a milk substitute because he has milk allergy. I was told that there was a Kroger just down the road that I could go and get his milk. When I called down I found out they did have soy milk. I was also told that I could not get a food tray brought up for me. My son loves salad and twice his tray had salad dressing on it but no salad. One time his tray had a carton of regular milk instead of soy milk. PT showed up as we were getting ready to leave. Nurses walked him twice. He was a fall risk so I had to call anytime I needed to move him. I had to ask for towels, wash cloths, so I could shower. Had to ask for shower supplies for my son to shower. I only brought some for me. Since my son is nonverbal, fall risk, and has seizures, he could not be left alone. I survived on donuts, pop tarts, a salad and sandwich that I got at Walmart when my son came to watch his brother, a sandwich my husband brought and a meal a friend brought to me. Not a lot to eat for six days. I could not trust the nurses to watch him so I could eat. Most of the time I could find a nurse even though the station was right outside his door. He had a seizure when my husband was there one time I left and he called for a nurse and no one came. He told the nurse about the seizure when she came in for vitals. Nursing staff was cut during nights and weekends. Even though there was a sign on the wall that said to ask how to get health information online, no one knew how I could do that. Finally they directed me to admissions. After he got released, I still couldn’t get access because my email wasn’t in his account. I had to call the admissions and get it added. As we were waiting for release, I had to go ask nurse about his noon medication, it was 2p! Never again will he be admitted Lutheran !

They deserve no stars, but have to give them one to even leave a rating. What happened to this facility?! This use to be the best. My Dad just had the worse care EVER!! Goes in with pneumonia, finds out he has liver cancer, a spot on his kidney and blockage to his heart. After 12 days of pitiful care, he is home with hospice care coming in. As you can read he is a very ill man. Pressing the nurse button we always waited up to 25-30 minutes for anyone to come in. The meals, if they came, were pathetic and usually missing the one thing he would eat. If I was there I would call the kitchen because he was unable but it would take until the next meal to get them. And then the next tray would be missing something else. He would have told the nurse but if they don’t come in how can he tell them? The whole hospital in general sucks! And when we were to bring him home we had the discharge papers ready in the morning. We arrived at 3:15 and at 5:00 I had to harshly explain to the nurse that hospice was waiting for us to get there because we should have already been there. Ended up, I had to go get the wheelchair and take him out myself. This is very uncalled for!! I could go on and on..............this is just a portion of the terrible things that happened in 12 days. I guess if the patient is on Medicare they keep them as long as they can but require no medical services in a hospital facility. 🙄 Mind boggling, isn’t it?

When we finally got up to our room the doctor came in and talked to us, all of the doctors were great! The nurses on the other hand VERY slow. We had two nurses who we LOVED but the rest were not in a hurry to do anything. 98% of the time you couldn’t even find a nurse it’s like they all left. Would push the call button to get a bottle or a new swaddle or because my daughters machine was going off and every time it took them like 15 minutes to even come to the room. My sons life was saved by Lutheran when they removed a major brain tumor that had misdiagnosed for 12 yrs by others. He told the doctor that my horrible cough and general weakness was probably neurological in nature due to a swallow reflex issue and to CT or MRI my brain. The pulmonary doctor did so and returned in less than an hour to tell us that I had 2 brain tumors! no misdiagnosis here! We drove past two other hospitals to come here because of his past experience having exceptional care during multiple visits. The food is great and the staff listen to suggestions. It is unethical and maddening that Lutheran cannot provide aftercare to heart transplant patients. While they use the excuse that they havent been able to find the right doctor to run the program, the doctors affiliated with the program know it is because they are not paying a competitive wage and loading up the understaffed transplant team with too many cases which impacts patient care. They can expand their hospital, but cannot provide aftercare to these 200+ patients that have gone through hell to stay alive. This not only impacts patients, but their families. These patients now have to drive 2+ hours to Indianapolis for basic care. Thats a tough drive for someone with a transplant who has multiple other health issues like cancer, diabetes or any other plethora of issues. Shame on you Lutheran! Perhaps you should take Lutheran out of your name, because what you have done to these patients is NOT Christian! This is about money and greed!

Wrapped her up, and left her in the hallway hooked to IVs for pain meds etc.My husband recieved a call around 6:30 that the doctors had missed some internal bleeding at the knee; where her knee cap had fragmented; they were worried about blood clots, and she’d have to have emergency surgery in the morning. Her leg had swollen to 3 times it’s regular size.My husband took off of work early so he could go get the entire story from the doctors and find exactly what was going on. When he arrived after 7 o clock he went to the Orthopedic section of the hospital only to be told his mother wasn’t there. His mother was still sitting in the hallway of the ER hooked to her IVs after having been there for at least 6 hours. There were at least 5 empty rooms that he had walked past before he found her in the hallway.Only after my husband stated he was going to file a complaint did they move her into a room. They still not have followed up with him regarding his complaint. Two days after having her emergency surgery; where her knee cap was screwed back together, the doctors said she was fine to be sent home and could take care of herself and put weight on the leg. Despite her saying that she had no support bar in the bathroom or shower and would not have someone readily available to care for her the doctors said she would be fine. So here we are at my 65 yr old mother in laws; staying the night because she cannot get herself in or out of bed, take off her own socks, put on her shoes, sit on the toilet, or dress herself. My husband and I both have to work Monday. I am pregnant. She will be here by herself with no one to help her. Thanks Lutheran for finally getting her to promise a switch to Parkview.

I would give negative stars if I could. I had a surgery in 2015, first of all they screwed up the address and all my information regarding my surgery did not get mailed to me. (They never told me anything would be coming so I never knew) When I showed up for my appointment for my surgery, they had screwed up again. I went to multiple doctors for referrals and Lutheran managed to lose the very important information that I “must need general anesthesia”. So they could not even preform the surgery because apparently anesthesia could not be used in that particular building. I took off work for two different surgeries for ablation. One leg first, wait a week, do the other leg. So I took off a week of work to get the first surgery that wasn’t preformed. Thanks for the loss of pay for your mistake. They had to do both legs in one surgery because of their mistake. Which was extremely painful .. After surgery my parents were so awesome they made my payements every month to help me out. They assumed everything was paid once they no longer received any bills. There was one bill that Lutheran for some reason sent to me, but they had the WRONG ADDRESS ON FILE, so I NEVER GOT THE BILL. $4,000 surgery and everything had gotten paid except for $160 that we did not know existed. So it got sent to collections. While we settled collections for a payment we never laid eyes on—— it AFFECTED MY CREDIT WHICH MAKES ME FURIOUS. DON’T GO TO LUTHERAN UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SCREWED OVER.

Not the same hospital I remember when I was a kid. Always have heard how bad Lutheran was and I could never understand it. However, my recent visits have shown me exactly what that means. Wait time was terrible, not at all related to their board posted on the roadways. CT scan cost me almost 50x less than bloodwork, urine sample, and 2 fluid bags. Health insurance and hospitals already make a doctors visit dreadful, and Lutheran doesnt make it any better.

They fully condone Dr. Carr, an Oncologist who practices out of their hospital, NOT telling patients he sees vital health information. When I had discovered that Dr. Carr had chosen not to disclose important information to me about my health, I not only reported him to the State for the 2nd time, but I called the hospital to file a complaint. The next day I got a return call from Lutheran and I was told that they wouldn’t take my complaint and I needed to take it up with his office. I have, and when I tried to report it to the hospital he works out of and he represented himself as being a representative of I was denied, by a very rude woman who saw no problem with a doctor doing what he did. Avoid Lutheran, Avoid Dr. Matthew Carr both just may contribute to your death through negligence.

My mom got to the er this afternoon around 3:30, shes been sick since Thursday but put off going to the er. We finally talked her into going and they are going to keep her because the test they ran on her came back as something is possibly wrong with her kidneys. Well they have had her in the hallway in the er since taking her back, the Dr talked to her in the hallway and everything...well guess where my mom is still laying. In the hallway of the er. They claim they dont have any rooms open right now, but my sister is there with her and the er had cleared out enough that rooms were open and they could of put her in one of them. No, they leave her out in the hallway. I am totally disgusted right now with this hospital. They said her condition does not warrant a room right now, but it does require her to be admitted into the hospital. Please explain this to me

Awful ER, treated my Grandmother horrible. Pulled an IV from her arm and let it bleed, she was cold so they brought her a folded heated blanket and left it at the foot of her bed for my mother to take care of. I read quite a bit of reviews and had I of had a great experience all the way around I wouldve gave a 5. I had a lumbar spinal fusion on Wednesday March 13th and was discharged Friday the 15th without pain controlled. So I ended up being admitted on my sons birthday on Sunday March 17th. Heartbreaking for sure. My 1st day right after surgery was horrible and I was told many times that they were understaffed repeatedly and I get it, but theres no reason a person undergoing a major life changing back surgery should have to suffer or anyone for that matter. The next day I had a wonderful nurse named DEB that completely clicked with me and made my visit so much better. Just the compassion she showed was better than any medicine I couldve ever got. Some people fail to realize compassion and alittle sympathy goes along way and makes a person that is going through what may seem the hardest thing theyve ever been through can make a huge difference. So kudos to her. She was an angel in disguise for sure. My 2nd time of being admitted on Sunday was terrible... my nerves and emotions were all over the place because my son is my heart and missing his birthday was just heartbreaking. But after spending over 7 hours in the ER with very little done with me... they finally took me to a room where I had 2 younger nurses not sure of their names because they were not very nice. They didnt take the time to understand my frustration or my pain level and it seemed like they may have just got out of nursing school and how they passed that Im really unsure. But I was in my room with no IV fluids, nothing for pain, or anything for that matter from about 530pm until 10pm. Anyone that has had a spinal fusion should understand that my pain level was on 100. There was no scale of 1 to 10. And they were just showing that I was irritating them and I heard over and over that they were understaffed. Once again this is no excuse!!!! Noone should suffer. Ive had my 4 boys at Lutheran and my youngest is 5 and I have zero complaints for any of those stays. Up until the week of March 13th through March 19th. On March 18th, I was so thankful that my nurse was changed in the morning to MANDY. I woke up still upset from the night before, but once I spoke with MANDY she was true sweetheart. She helped me so much and was honest with me. She really seemed to care. She made my stay a lot better or more comfortable. Later that evening during shift change honestly Im not sure what my nurses name was because I saw her when she first got there and when she left, because her assistant HANNAH was a doll and really just took over for her because of the understaffing issue. But HANNAH was amazing in every way. She made me laugh, smile and feel at home. Shes a young girl, but has a very sweet heart and should be recognized. She is going to make a fabulous nurse! And last, but definitely not least DONALD, I did not catch his last name. He is in housekeeping I seen his hard work my first day of being my 2nd time of being admitted and I noticed he took pride.. I made sure to give a small thank you and he actually came on my very last day before being discharged. I know that he probably doesnt get recognized as much and many patients probably dont take the time to just say thank you, but I made sure to tell him that he did a great job and Im sorry if his hard work hasnt been recognized frequently. We shared small talk and he is a very kind older man with a good heart. He took the time to listen to me while he was working and I learned alittle about him. He was very kind and He mentioned hes been with Lutheran for about 8 years. So I just wanted to say thank you to him for being so kind and keeping my room clean during my 2 days of stay, as well as carrying on the small talk we shared. So huge thanks to DEB, MANDY, HANNAH and DONALD! YOU WERE GREAT AND HELPED MY BAD EXPERIENCES DISAPPEAR! :) please recognize them!!!They sure deserve it! -Amanda McCullough

I can’t belive what me and my family have been put thru in last 2 days since my loved one was admitted. This (use) to be considered the best hospital in Fort Wayne that I knew of. There’s a huge lack of communication between nurses for shift changes as far as information on their patients obviously. Patients are only checked on every two hours on the dept on the 5th floor, this ridiculous. My loved one has been found soaked in their own urine 3x’s by a family member and they had only been there 2 days. On the second day the family member was found hanging off the bed ready to fall by a family member, the bed alarm wasn’t even working, and the family member is a fall risk, not to mention also soaked in their own urine once again. I wish I would have sent them to Parkview because they seem to be putting this hospital to shame for sure. So much for you mission statement !!!!!

We are a parkview family for life. The employees here are rude, unprofessional and the bottom of the barrel in their profession. The hospital itself is DIRTY and unorganized. Front desk tells me to go to outpatient labs and the ONLY label for the outpatient lab is a handwritten paper that says labs with an arrow which is then taped to a wall. Their “waiting room” is a couple chairs in the hall. Two separate instances employees stood in front of me taking badly about another employee. Another employee was making fun of a patient they just had. The funny thing about all of this when I register at the front desk I HAD to SIGN a paper stating I would NOT take PICTURES OR VIDEO RECORD while here.....and now I know why. They don’t want OSHA knowing how nasty the place is or let the cat out of the bag that they don’t follow HIPPA federal laws. Go to Parkview if you want quality care.

GOD AWFUL!!!! Nurse told me to “refuse insurance info” now I’m personally responsible for my visit due to her telling me that. I had an X-ray done that I was told was clear along with an MRI that i was told was clear and that I simply had whiplash, 5 months later I find out that I have a fractured vertebrae that was found in the X-ray but was never told... how do you fail to mention somebody’s back is broken?!? When I called to get an explanation I never received a return call. I’ve been trying to contact Lutheran since November to no avail. It’s February 6th and I talked to a person for the first time and “she is going to look into it”. Will never go to any Lutheran Hospital or any affiliate of Lutheran. Worst experience imaginable I can not believe a hospital and it’s employees can be so negligent and then refuse to take any responsibility or even have the decency to give an explanation. If zero stars was an option I would rate them a ZERO. Lesson learned is to go to Parkview for any future hospital visits.

If there was a way to give no stars, and still leave a review; I would have. There have been 3 separate times Ive experienced them trying to avoid treating me due to assumptions and stereotyping.1. I noticed on the demographic portion of my paper work it list my name, race, and whether or not my insurance was provided by the state or not. Mine was listed as by state. I have NEVER had insurance through the state. The closest was when I was a dependant and my mother worked for the county for which she retired from after 27yrs of service. When I asked why, the girl was ditzy enough to tell me it was due to the majority with insurance through that specific insurance company was state funded, so assumption made and was wrong.2. I and along with a coworker, who isnt a person of color; had to have MRIs done around the same time. We have the same insurance, same coverage, same employer. We both schedule the MRIs weeks on advance. She was able to get hers with no issues. I got a call less than 24hrs before my test, and was informed that it had to be canceled due to pre-auth. I explained that I know for sure as long as its out-patient no pre-auth needed. She told me I was wrong and told me to call the insurance company and work it out with them and once worked out see if they would contact Lutheran back. I called and was informed then that I was correct and they werent sure why Lutheran was giving me issues. I called Lutheran back, left voice messages, and got a call back 2 weeks later. By then, I had contacted Parkview and the MRI was done the same week. I was then informed that with my insurance carrier there is never pre-auth needed when the plan I have is private and not state issued. I basically waited that entire time for nothing. To make it worse, my injury ended up more severe due to the time that passed since the injury happened and I was simply waiting so I could get the test, just to have to go to Parkview any way.3. Since it had been some time and the specialist wanted me to have the MRI asap, I allowed them to set it up with a MRI place. I later found out it was ran by Lutheran. I started to call the doc office and have them send the referral over to Parkview, but I wanted to go with the option that would be easiest. The day before the MRI I was told the MRI was denied because the insurance company wanted me to try PT first, which I knew was a lie. I contacted my insurance company and they had no record of talking to anyone for pre-auth and reassured me there wasnt a need for pre-auth due to my coverage. I decided to wait a little bit before calling Lutheran back, praying I wouldnt get the same answer again. Same answer. I explained my conversation with my provider and they told me they would get back to me. Hours later I got a message informing me theyre not sure why my insurance provider told them that I needed PT, and that I would be able to get my MRI. I highly doubt my insurance provider told them that when there was no record of contact made with them. There is no way I can assume anything other than the obvious. I will NEVER step foot back into a Lutheran facility unless I am unconscious and whoever is helping me takes me there not knowing my preference. I would drive to Indy or Chicago for help before returning to Lutheran, nor would I want them to even clip my dogs nails.I have quite a few associates that did their clinicals at Lutheran, and after seeing how things are handle much more sanitary with a pleasant environment by Parkview; I have been warned to never go to Lutheran by them. I think my best bet would be to take their advise.I pray Parkview continues to grow and expand. Parkview actually put money, time, and attention on the community versus trying to stop doctors from taking control over their network! 🙅🏾🤦🏾

I hate to say it but after spending 4 months of my life in here and seeing it from the inside there is major problems going on at Lutheran right now that are not being addressed at all. When inpatient you can expect to have extremely long call light times (mine average between 15mins but up to 2 hours, yes 2 hours! Multiple times that happened!) and fleeting staff all hours of the day. You can also expect pharmacy and the system of getting your meds to be regularly delayed by hours of waiting either on a perfectServe or pharmacy themselves taking hours. For example I ordered an otc laxative at 5am Thursday morning and did not receive the laxative until 2:30pm and in the meantime developed a life threatening condition of bowel obstruction that now has me in pain, possibly damaging my intestines permanently (we have been running tests for 2 days to evaluate the extent of it). Something as simple as constipation could cost your life in this hospital I am speaking from experience. I am also diabetic and regularly experience multiple hour delays between needing and getting my insulin, while they allow my sugars to run in the 200 and 300s for hours before finally coming in my room and accessing the insulin. You will also realize quickly that you must have extensive medical knowledge in order to get treated for your extended symptoms or side effects of drugs they give you. They do not address insomnia or mental health issues caused by drugs they administer such as steroids and are very lax in addressing these types of serious concerns. I will go multiple days without sleep and receive no attention to my insomnia at all and when finally demanding it be addressed they bring a childs dose of benedryl (about 1/5th the recommended dose for insomnia and not to mention benedryl is not medically sound treatment for insomnia in a hospital according to many publications.)Pain meds have been accessed reasonably well but I would say not correctly as they were giving me oral pain medication for weeks and never offered a laxative which ended up costing me my health the other day and being new to pain medication I did not know it was standard procedure to accompany opiates with laxatives to prevent narcotic induced constipation. (I am also a high risk factor for bowel blockage and gi problems but they still left that risk unaddressed.)I could go on for days with these types of issues given my time spent here and as a lifelong patient at Lutheran it disappoints and scares me that my care is in their hands and I am seeking to find a treatment center elsewhere after over 20 years as a patient here. The problems here are systemic and not easily fixed without MAJOR staffing reevaluation and oversight which I have tried to effect change here on that as a patient advocate but its really an uphill battle and my life is on the line here so my time here can not be to try n fix or babysit a broken system. Best of luck to anyone who ends up inpatient here at Lutheran there really are some wonderful staff here but they are individuals and are up against a brick wall with their hands tied in most cases. Stay healthy!
