My husband has had a very terrible experience with AHEC overall. We have been waiting for months for referrals to get answers about my husband condition that continues to deteriorate almost daily. During our last appt a week ago the Dr acted very nonchalant about my husbands symptoms which are debilitating. When I asked the Dr why we still didnt have the referrals from over a month ago her response was I could have sworn I sent that. She said we should get something within a week. Today is a week. No phone call about a referral just a phone call canceling my husbands appt for counseling that he has waited 2 months for with no offer to reschedule. At the rate you guys move my husband will be dead before you figure anything out. And God forbid you try to call. You have to stay on hold for 45mins!!! Thanks a lot guys

Been a new patient since December. I’ve been seen Twice. Two different apts over a month & a half apart. I had severe bronchitis when I went in December. Was told it was acid reflux even though I knew it wasn’t. Provided me a medicine I have taken previously I told her did not work. Didn’t work of course when I took it for the month and a half she told me, so when I came for the second visit we can compare. I came in for kidney issues. Same visit. Told me drink more water. I drink 40+ bottles of water in a week. I’m definitely not in need of water. I have blockage in my kidney, so to be ignored & not sent for testing is concerning. Especially with an already damaged kidney. I’ve tried making an appointment since February First. Can’t get it. There’s only ONE provider apparently for the entire building. They canceled my apt I had set since January & now I can’t get in till September?? Hoke ER has become my primary care dr because at least someone will see me. Refused to transfer me so I could file a complaint. Disconnected the line on me. If you value your health, find another provider. I only came here because my insurance made me. Edit: It took my therapist calling downstairs demanding I be seen and book and appointment over the phone for me to get one. Absolutely terrible service. But apparently it’s from a new online system.

This review is for a family member of mine. She has been going here for years and just recently shes been having alot of issues with this place. She has gone in for muscle spasms and swelling and the only answers she has gotten is from one doctor that she has never seen before but the doctor hasnt given any advice or anything on how to fix the issues at hand. When she calls to get an appointment it takes awhile to even get through and when she does they cant seem to work her in. She is miserable and the doctors are doing absolutely nothing.

I had been attending SRAHEC for over 3 years and was fortunate to have good care until December of 2020. I went in for a simple well checkup pap and breast exam. #1. When I arrived I was told I could not be seen because of my insurance. They offered no explaination as to the problem. It took great effort getting there because Im my husbands caretaker. AHECT told me to do a self pay to be seen , only to find out from my insurance that they never heard fromAHEC in regards to my appointment and that my insurance should cover the cost. Also during the appt. I was injured by the attending health provider during my exam. The pain was horrific and it felt like a unknown prceedure was done because of the level of pain verses a simple pap smear. The doctors response to me was that it happened because others are probably more experienced than her. They have a new director of the facility that clearly doesnt like me and my complaints. She can care less. This office justifys charging me for the exam even though my insurance has stated they never heard from this billing department. The care provider kept trying to push medications and different shots for me to take and was acting as if she was trying to get some sort of bonus for pushing meds. The doctor seemed irritated because Im healthy. She then left my husband sitting in the exam room we were in to use the exam room next door. It was in that exam room that I was viciously injured. This office has done nothing to resolve this issue and they havent billed my insurance. They are lying about their reason for not billing my insurance company. Im still having some discomfort because of that exam. And the attending provider asked me before she did the so call...pap if I had been taking aspirin and how much aspirin do I think is in my body. Aspirin is a known blood thinner. This is another reason I question this care providers motives on that day. IF YOU ARE A HEALTHY PERSON I WARN YOU TO MOVE WITH CAUTION CONCERNING SRAHEC. THE LEVEL OF CARE HAS GREATLY DECLINED IN THIS PLACE.

3 stars for having a clean facility and a pretty seamless check-in process, but its not a 5 star rating because of the level of actual care Ive received.I knew when I first became a patient that it was a training facility and I was ok with it. For the most part of the last 3 years, Ive received good care, but with a few notable exceptions.(1) No one likes to be lied to, but I was. When I went in for a routine checkup/prescription refill, I was told the law had recently changed for the medicine I was taking and it could only be filled 30 days at a time. I politely questioned my assigned provider about it, but she was adamant. I went home and researched it, discovering she was absolutely wrong. When my next appointment date arrived, I politely corrected her with the facts, but instead of apologizing, she instead stated it was her policy to only write 30 day prescriptions for that particular medication. She had no defense for lying to me. Her selfish actions put the onus on me, having to call in every 30 days for a prescription my previous doctor filled 6 months at a time. Most prescription drug companies dont allow you to refill a prescription until a couple of days before the meds run out and It takes SRAHEC up to 48 hours to approve prescriptions which are called in. Throw in a weekend or holiday and what could possibly go wrong? I wonder how many patients suffer needlessly because of their draconian refill policy. Because I have sleep apnea, my sleep doctor was more than happy to write my prescription for 6 months, but shame on SRAHEC for this despicable practice.(2) I pulled a muscle in my back while working out at the gym, so I thought it best to get it looked at by SRAHEC. It turned out to be what I thought, a pulled muscle, but on my way out of the examination room door, the lady who examined me handed me a business card for her husband, a chiropractor. She said I should consider seeing him. I found that to be unprofessional, if not unethical. My back was fine in a few days.(3) Ive been taking a cheap, generic cholesterol medicine for close to a decade. Upon my last bi-annual checkup, I was told (out of nowhere) if I switched to Lipitor, I would decrease my chances of dying from any heart related issues in the next 10 years by up to 85%. I found it odd because my cholesterol levels were within normal boundaries, but I took her advice. My $5 generic prescription was replaced by one costing over $300 and I ended up in the emergency room because I had a reaction to it. Now I know why, when Im in the lobby waiting to be seen, I see so many people coming in with briefcases and being escorted through the doors without a wait. Theyre drug salesmen. This is why youre steered towards brand name drugs.(4) I was recently assigned a new provider as my last one graduated. However, a prescription expired and needed renewal in the interim. Ive been taking this prescription for around 15 years. CVS informed me my renewal request had been denied. When I talked to a lady from SRAHEC, she informed me my new doctor needed to see me and assess my medical condition before he would authorize a renewal. That sounded reasonable to me, but the first available appointment was weeks away, causing me to be without my prescription for 2 weeks. They didnt see the prudence of at least making sure I had enough to get by until I could see the new provider. I find this conduct to be highly unethical, but part of a larger pattern. So, if you want a state of the art medical facility with staff who try to coerce you to take newer brand name (and expensive) prescriptions and hold total control over the refill policy of medications, SRAHEC is the place for you.

Recently went in due to back injury, doctor refused to prescribe anything until I had a blood screen which results would not be back for several days, by then my issue would have passed (which it did). I was upset and left the building, swearing never to return, but I did and regretted it. Saw Dr. yesterday, seemed to be a decent provider, left the room and never came back without any instructions. Everytime I go for a visit, my symptoms and issues are always brand new to them--never heard of before. Instead of telling me what tests I could take or refer me to a specialist, they have you come in for a visit to just take your money, minimize your issues without test or treatment, and pull guesses out of their tails. There are times when I had to volunteer prognoses after I done my own research because they are clueless. Also, they dont return phone calls or emails through their patient portal. The portal said it could take up to three days, its been longer than that so whats the excuse? And, its happened with more than one doctor. Yet, they tell you if have questions or concerns to contact them. I went in for a visit and seen a doctor that previously seen me (because you see a different one everytime you get seen) in the back and I just wanted to ask her a question. She acted like she couldnt be bothered with me and sent one of her minions to get rid of me saying that the doctor would call. Of course she didnt. These people are unprofessional and unknowledgeable. I dont expect you to care about me but do your job--especially if Im paying for it.

If I only there was a negative star review for this place, Id surely provide that rating; however, since this is nearly the only place taking new patients, most people will not have any other source for medical care. After 4 years of 3 misdiagnosis of 2 members of my family to include myself, Id just assume go into another county for care. I understood that this medical facility was staffed by residents, but I know there is a full medical doctor overseeing the residents and that individual should be ashamed at the lack of knowledge, competence, and patience provided to the people of this community. They refuse to send patients to a specialist even after they have exhausted their knowledge of an unknown illness, disease or condition. It takes an act of Congress for them to just refer a human being to specialty care when that human being is beyond their abilities and/or their capability of recognizing that not all medical issues follow ALL of the symptoms listed in their medical books. This should be an urgent care facility since they are unable to medically determine that a neurological or internal medical issue is evident, and beyond their scope. Youre better off driving to Raeford to the new facilities since their medical doctors are capable of realizing when a patients needs are beyond their own.

Terrible terrible terrible. I understand the doctors are completing their RESIDENCY but at no point should the doctor(s) be searching the internet for solutions RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! The doctor asked me what I was thinking the issue could be? Is that not the trained medical professionals responsibility? The doctors really dont listen to the patients anyway. After explaining my symptoms I was sent away with benzonate and flonase when I have pink eye and strep throat!!! How can something as common as conjunctivitis elude these doctors and I be sent home without proper medication? This was last Thursday morning. I called back friday morning at 8 am after taking the meds and them having no effect. I was told by the rude hispanic lady answering the phone that the doctor couldnt just send the Rx to my pharmacist and Id have to come in to be seen again but there were no openings for the day so a doctor would contact me 24 to 72 hours later. I have yet to receive a call so Im going to phone them in about a half hour to see if I can get the proper medication with having to drive across town for some daggone penicillin. Do yourself a favor and find a different clinic.

LIARS:They told me I needed to change one of my meds because my insurance no longer covered it. The new meds required me to visit them more often for refills. Now that Im back at Womack, I am back on original meds. They told me that a new law forbid them from issuing me more than 30 days of another med Im taking. Now that Im back at Womack I get 90 days worth at a time. They lie in order to get you into their facility as often as possible. Not sure how much they get for each visit but, that is clearly their motivation. When I asked the doctor who told me of the new law to tell me what the name of the law was, he told me to Google it. I did but didnt find anything. They are liars. I discussed my plan to take a job in the middle east and requested a 90 supply of my meds. They refused and I lost out on that job opportunity because I could only get a 30 supply of meds. The front office workers are generally unfriendly bordering on rude. Typically even when I have an appointment the following ensues:Poor Service:After check in you (and often a few others) are called within a few minutes. Sounds good right? Wrong! You are taken to the back where vitals are taken which takes a few minutes. If a examination room is available you are placed in a room to await you provider. If not you are seated in the hall to await a room. I waited 20 minutes last time for a room. When I was called again I was escorted to an exam room where I waited another 40 minutes. Nobody opened the door to offer an explanation or apology the entire time. Once the provider arrived he offered a perfunctory apology. I was there for a prescription refill so I spent a total of five minutes with the provider. Because they would only write my prescription for 30 days and refills for this prescription are not allowed, I asked if they would post date additional prescriptions for me as they had done in the past. I was told they no longer do that. So that means to me retired veteran of 21 year, is that I have to go to them every month and pay the $12 dollar co-pay to get my medication. Thats $144 dollars a year not including the price of the medication. The even bigger picture is facilities like this are also bilking the insurance companies who pay the greatest portion of the bill. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.
