Amazing doctor! I had dealt with herniated/bulging discs (L4/L5) for over 20 years.. My pain had gotten progressively worse, and my primary doctor sent me to a surgeon in the Flint area that refused to do surgery because I am a diabetic and I would never heal. My pcp then sent me to Dr. Winkelpleck. What a life changer!! He said that by looking at my MRI, and xrays, he can see why I was in so much pain. He recommended that before we talked about surgery, that I go to the pain clinic, and have an injection done to see if that will help. 2 weeks later, I was in the pain clinic and had an injection, that helped with my pain for 4 months. The pain came back, so I had another injection. Unfortunately, it did not help. Dr. Winkelpleck then said that our next step, was to talk surgery. I had tried and tried everything that I could do to avoid this, but decided that I was tired of living with the pain, and all of the different medicines that they were giving me to deal with the pain, that wasnt working. Dr. Winkelpleck did the surgery on March 31, 2018, and that was the 1st day in 20 years that I was without pain! I was pain free, until January 23, 2020, when I herniated the same discs on the other side. I called the office telling them that I needed to get in, and they had an appointment available for me within 2 days. I now live about 90 minutes away, and he asked me if I wanted a referral to a surgeon closer to me so that it would be more convenient. NOPE, NO WAY! I trust him completely. I will drive as far as I need to drive to see him. He gave me relief from 20 years of pain the first time, and I am certain that he will help me again! I highly recommend Dr. Winklepleck.

They were wonderful! After all these years of pain, I finally know why I can only stand a minute or two and what can be done to help me.

I was born with a spinal birth defect. All my life I have had to get spinal injections and rizotimys due to a couple of bulge discs, sciatica, pinched nerve and stenosys.I also have degenerative disc disease that gets worse every year. But with all this and the constant pain all my life I worked full time on a manual labor job for 38 years until I just couldnt do it anymore. My doctor said that with all the problems in my spine that the implant of a spinal stimulator was a better alternative than surgery. I then went to 3 other spine specialists for more opinions before doing this. 2 of the specialists I saw (after looking atall my records and x-rays and MRIs agreed the the stimulator was my best alternative. The 3rd doctor I picked was Dr Winkelpleck. After waiting for a month to get in I waited for 1.5 hours in the waiting area. Then I got in the exam room and waited another 1/2 hour to see him. He walks in and says I have gone thru all your records and exams and I dont see anything wrong with your spine. He then walks out and I leave.50 years of many many many MRIs, x-rays, cat scans and many many doctors and specialists (who all gave the same results) and trips to the ER because I couldnt move or stand up and all the spinal injections and so on. And this guy says there is nothing wrong with me.

This Dr not only acted shady when I met him the first time but he ended up being two faced as well. After having to switch to him from a different Dr in the office I waited 6 months upon a referral from a friend that suggested I try to see him. This Dr. had my information/records prior to my visit from my PCP. I also brought some of my own and explained the workmans comp injury in 2014 for which I had to have a diskogram done because it was suggested by a physiatrist on my workmans comp case. Thus my injury not showing up on the prev MRIs. This Dr tried to tell me that the diskogram doesnt show more than an MRI but yes it does and if he were intelligent enough he would have known that. He lied to my face and said that I might be a surgical candidate down the road but that I should see a nuero surgeon or neurologist because of the nerve pain and numbness I have. He said (in his words) he wouldnt perform the surgery because I have to sleep at night & just that statement alone should scare the hell out of anyone. He didnt act confident in himself and even looked scared as hell when telling me he couldnt help me and he would send a letter to my PCP. He then walked me and my son out to the waiting room as if he thought we would say something to someone. Very strange behavior. He wasnt even dressed professionally he had on a shirt that looked like he was going to the casino to shoot some craps or play some black jack after work. Then my PCP got his letter and because he said I didnt need surgery she started to assume I was not a surgical candidate at all rather than seeing a Neuro Sugeon and cut my pain meds down. He must NOT have told her what he told me and that was that I might be a surgical candidate BUT for someone else & NOT him. Thats fine but why jeopardize me from getting help from anyone else and not tell my PCP the whole truth. JERK, I wouldnt recommend a dog having surgery by this guy what a joke!!!!
