This ER is the best. You have to wait, but once you get back, the service is wonderful. The staff is very knowledgeable, prepared and kind. Thank you so much for helping me.

I recommend this ER to women who are fans of being belittled, mocked, and left to die in the waiting room. I recommend this ER to men who are okay with the idea of being seen for a sprained ankle in 30 minutes while their fellow female patients wait 4+ hours to be seen for time-sensitive internal emergencies. If this ER has done anything, it’s reaffirmed that medical sexism is alive and well. Congratulations!

This hospital is the worst I would never recommend to anyone at all their staff is rude and you have to wait more than 10 hours to see the doctor. A women was crying and the weren’t checking on her. the emergency hospital don’t have a room for their patients we left without treatment. This hospital should be shut down. Because they are play with people life.

This hospital IS LITERALLY TERRIBLE!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABT PATIENTS ATL ALL!!! I’m currently in the emergency room telling the front desk I’m in the worst pain of my life & theyre just giving me “oh well” type responses. The lobby security doesn’t let ppl have blankets or do anything for that matter. The front desk workers move slower then cement drying. You can tell none of the staff wants to be here. It’s sad to be a hospital. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had the highest death rate out of all hospitals in GA . If you truly need help & you’re really in pain . DO NO & I REPEAT DO NOT COME HERE !!! If you don’t care abt your life & feel like it’s your time to meet God, then come here. But again if you want to live & want help. Don’t come here

We got here on a Friday it’s now Saturday and still haven’t seen a doctor and that’s for an emergency. Never come here for any life and death situation or you will just die. EMORY is just over rated and grossly under service. Go somewhere else or anywhere else but avoid this place. An absolute disgrace to the medical field hiding behind its name. YOU WERE WARNED..

This place is horrible, you are treated less then human. Sad, sad place. What happened to at least good healthcare, with humanities and compassion. I think the doctors and nurses, are only going into the medical professionals for the money. No longer the old fashion healthcare, you do better by staying home and dying in peace with dignity.

I came to the ER after my several failed hospital visits at Piedmont, North Primaty well surety etc. I am 36 weeks pregnant and had been feeling a lot of sinus pressure and my ear was starting to hurt. The morning of my ear felt like it was throbbing and leaking. I signed in with the friendly staff, triage was very polite and funny. The wait was the worst thing about the hospital because i was in so much pain but the true hero’s was the doctor I saw he diagnosed me in less than 5 minutes assured me the medication I’ll be taken was safe for pregnant women and sent me on my way. I had been dealing with my sinus issue for 4 days where Nurse practitioners would send me away with cough medicine. OB’s claimed they didn’t have the utensil to diagnosed and another hospital wanted to Covid the mess out of me. Finally Someone who knows what they were doing. I had an ear infection ( ear throbbing) and now i can be treated appropriately. This whole time in pain 36 weeks pregnant. Although I am happy with Emory ER there OB really should do better. There is no way i should have gone through a check up that day to have to walk to ER. Thank you amazing ER doctors for taking the time to listen and help me.It would’ve been 5 stars but the wait was horrible

Dont be discouraged by these reviews. I went into this ER today and was in and out within 2 hours on a weekend around noon. Its important to understand that they treat patients based on severity, so if youre waiting a crazy long time there are likely people with more urgent issues than you. The staff were all very kind and kept me informed as to exactly what they were doing and why they were doing it.

Worst ER Experience Ever. The front desk staff is extremely rude, inconsiderate, and very aggressive. I explained that I fell down the stairs of my home at almost 5 months pregnant. I waited four hours to even be put into a room. I never seen a nurse and It was another hour and a half before I seen a physicians assistant for all of 3 minutes. It took them about 6 hours to even do an ultrasound to make sure my baby is okay. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy

If I could give this hospital a zero I would, I went there because of virus like symptoms and I let them know I was 33 weeks pregnant and weak with body aches. I waited for so long after the first triage check up. I called to let them know I couldnt wait any more and found out that my name wasnt even on their waiting list, someone had removed it while I was in their back room waiting area. They might have changed their name but its the same bs maybe even worst. I also tried to get a workers attention who worked I. The front, an old white man with greys and a goatee. He told me he was too busy to talk to me, all the others waiting felt so bad for me and I was truly embarrassed. If not there for the patients why do you even have a job there.

Do whatever you can to not go here if youre suicidal. When I finally saw a psychiatrist, he spoke to me for less than two minutes and assumed I wasnt really suicidal because I was getting outpatient help. I was later patient dumped for being uninsured. He didnt ask me once if I was suicidal, by the way. Im only giving it 2 stars because of a really nice nurse. He went out of his way to help me and be nice.

The check in process was a little faster. The security guard didnt check my bag but had a female guard come ask me if about 20 minutes later, if I still had my weapon with me. She was very nice. He was...nevermind. The floors and doors have been changed since its now an Emory facility. Clean, didnt have any strange smells, tvs in every waiting room but they arent big enough to accommodate walkers or wheelchairs. Plenty of outlets to charge up if you need to. Everyone I had contact with was smiling and had good communication skills. No snack machines, only one for coffee.

I had a great experience @ Emory Decatur emergency room. One of the worst ERs I’ve ever been to. At check-in, asked about the wait time knowing full well that acuity impacts this. That being said, we were checked in, brought back to the FAST track waiting area and waited for over 2.5 hours while others who arrived long after us but had similar injuries (we asked them what they were here for) got taken back before us. When asking a tech if he could tell us whereabouts we were in the list to be seen, he replied, “does it matter if you get stitches now or in an hour?” without ever acknowledging that the pain of the injury was more pressing than any stitches that may be necessary. As an Emory employee myself, I’m greatly disappointed in the care - or lack thereof - received as well as the attitude of the personnel.

B E W A R E. I actually *dont* have any complaints about our experience in the ER; my review is based on the fact that after we went to this hospital which is IN NETWORK with our insurance, I discovered that the doctors with whom they contract to staff the ER (DeKalb Emergency Physicians) is OUT OF NETWORK with our insurance, meaning that our insurance pays much less than it would for an in-network provider. I had no idea this was a thing. I guess I should have interrogated the ER staff that came in the room before I let them render any treatment, and then signed ourselves out AMA once we discovered they were out of network. Really, I shouldnt be surprised that Emory Healthcare allows this to happen. What do they care if an ER visit costs a patient more, through no fault of their own? Its just one more way that the profit-hungry healthcare industry makes money off the patients who, as in our case, have no choice but to bend over and take it, no kiss, no Vaseline.

I had a wonderful experience at DeKalb Medical ER. We arrived to ER at 7am on Saturday and were greeted by a very nice and compassionate nurse (James) he checked us in and in 10min or so we were already in the room waiting for a doctor. Doctor (Aurore Oriol, PA), nurse Claudia and everyone else on staff had great attitude, they were prompt, compassionate and always communicated what they were doing. Doctor ordered only necessary tests to diagnose my condition and later on made sure when I was transferred to another ER that I had all the test results with me. I liked working with a doctor/nurse as a team and have my input, I declined a strong pain medication and dr. was fine with that. Nurse Claudia was wonderful very polite, skilled and had a soothing manner about her. Also, when getting CT scan done I was taken care by a wonderful technician, who explained the procedure. It was also easy to collect the CT scan results to share with my primary care doctor. I called radiology department and they had them ready on the disc the next day. So summarize my whole experience despite all the pain I was in, it was comforting to be around people, who smile and look like they really enjoy their work.Thank you, DeKalb Medical ER!

Why is it taking over an hour for triage to check vitals? Isnt the whole point of triage is to check the status of the patients emergency and categorize them accordingly? I dont understand how they can attend patients if they cant complete the first and most basic task of triaging. Shame on you Emory Decatur Hospital. This is the first and last time I will be coming here.

I took my mom here due to elevated blood pressure/stroke level. We were there from 230-655 pm. We saw a nurse about 330 pm. We saw a doctor at 545 pm she was very distracted with phone calls though was pleasant. We finally got blood pressure medicine around 615 pm. That’s 3 hours and 45 min we waited for a simple little pill. I asked the lady at the front desk if there was a snack machine as my mom is a diabetic and hadn’t eaten since 730 am. She couldn’t really be bothered as I was speaking walked away from me mumbling she’d check her sugar and never did. We observed an employee rudely reprimand a family member in front of us and another pt. Once in the ER where the doctors meet with you, we waited about 2 hours. The nurse was so sweet and thoughtful however there is no patient confidentiality. I heard exactly what was going on wrong w 3 other patients while sitting there waiting. We probably won’t use dekalb emergency again. Your slogan is commitment to excellence. You were nowhere near excellent. Suggestions for improvement include: 1. Politeness and common courtesy. It is not acceptable to reprimand patients or family members. Remember we PAY to come to you. Not the other way around. 2. Let us know why we are waiting. Give an occasional update. Takes a few seconds. 3. Offer water. 4.5 hours is a long time to wait. Many of the patients can’t walk that well.
