The outdoor ATMs at this location are not only a safety hazard, but a huge inconvenience. I tried depositing money & the card slot was faulty (though there were no indicators stating it was faulty). Next thing I know, my card, along with 4-5 other cards, are sitting in the card slot, where anyone who really wanted to could have pulled the cards out. Because I was afraid of having my hand chopped, I did not attempt to pull my card out. Calling the National helpline was no help. This is the SECOND time I have had issues with this ATM.UPDATE:I was able to have the same card reissued, but still may be deactivated once maintenance takes the original out of the ATM. The representatives at this location are in no way the issue & did everything possible to find a solution for the situation. Please have the ATMs at this location replaced!

Mobile ability is limited, and trying to do things over the phone outside of normal business hours (which is later in my day than I can deal with) leads to a phone system that is more agitating than anything. My account has had several credential hiccups leading to confusion on everyones part. I cant even change the PIN number without going in person. But theres a fun little catch: covid restrictions.Office branch has good people there, but its difficult to remain calm for digital member services otherwise.

I am very disappointed with the decision that SECU continually refuses to open to the public with non-appointment in person services for nearly a year now. This is especially true since Governor Hogan has just opened Maryland to 100% capacity limits. They will not even give a tentative date on reopening the branch. Also consider that other banks have actual tellers and have been open the entire pandemic whereas SECU has automated teller services and have remained closed.When I call to voice this concern, the representative says that the board of directors will determine when they open not the governor. What about the customers needs? Seems like they dont care about that. I should not need an appointment everytime I want to do my banking needs.Moreover, I call to convey my dissapointment and the representatives usually just tell me how I am wrong and argue with me. They say that they can provide any service and that they are open. If I cant walk into my credit union without an appointment then they arent open. It has become so difficult dealing with these people that I have pulled almost all of my money out and changed banks. When they do reopen, I am seriously debating on closing all of my accounts due to their lack of customer service.I hate to say that because I really used to like SECU. Its very dissapointing what they have become.

SECU is the absolute worst bank you could possibly use. I received a credit card bill for a card I cancelled in February, six months ago, and they just mailed me the bill. In the meantime, my credit is ruined because they say they have been mailing bills which is a complete lie. This bank is totally incompetent. There is not a single employee at any branch or in their call center who is able to do their job. They will ruin your credit. Any bank is better than SECU.

This is the WORST COMPANY, their website barely works and is hard to use. And they do not EVER answer in a timely fashion, I applied for a loan recently and it took over a week before they even replied to say it was received... after that I got absolutely no update whatsoever and had to call them and sit on hold for over an hour to get one. As a Senior Mortgage Banker, I can assure you this is not typical. Only after I called was I provided with any kind of notice via email. I have two other accounts, one with Goldman Sachs and one with Tower Federal, i will never use SECU again... not worth the headache. WORST COMPANY TO BANK WITH EVER (and that is coming from someone who used to have M&T- also terrible), if I could leave negative stars, I would.

Im currently in the process of re-establishing my credit, but not really knowing how or what to do. So I was holding a conversation about this with a Great Friend of mine and he immediately said to me. Join my CU, I know they can and will help you. They are Great. He had nothing but Great things to say about SECU. So I gave it a try an open an account online, but needed to go into a branch to finalize everything. When I arrived at the branch I was greeted by a very Beautiful Caucasian lady and she assisted me right away and directed me to whom I needed to see. I was further assisted by a Very Handsome African American Gentleman who concluded the rest of my business transactions. (Apologies I dont remember their names) However, both were very Welcoming and was excited that I chosed SECU for my financial needs. They took the time to explain everything to me and gave me Excellent financial advise of what to do to get back on track. They offer a variety of options to fit ones individual budget whether big or small. Im excited to be on the right Journey now in re-establishing my credit with the lead and Support from the SECU Team. In life you only get one chance to provide a First Impression - Job Well Done SECU Staff. Excellent Customer Service. Im honored to now be a part of the SECU Family - Ms. Bryant.

I walked in on a Saturday to find a line of 15 people waiting for a teller. I proceeded to wait in line for 30 minutes. Halfway through, staff alerts us that only one of the two tellers can process checks. Staff were visibly exasperated with the people asking questions. The tellers took at least a minute to come online even after waiting in line for 30 minutes before that. It took five minutes to get two checks processed. Not a great customer experience. Definite room for improvement.

John was amazing today. Ive been waiting for a new card to come in the mail but after 2 weeks of waiting I decided to stop in. He helped me cancel the card that was MIA, he shredded my old compromised card and issued me a new card. He even went the extra mile to help me resubmit paperwork for a fraudulent charge. I was in an out of there in less than 20 minutes. He was very polite and efficient. This branch has always been pleasant to visit.

The 2 Drive thru ATM machines never see to be fully functional every time I come to this location Im unable to make cash deposits this is unsatisfactory because this bank is not easily accessible locations are not convenient to members in the southern Maryland area

So long being a customer and very Disappointed of being the only person waiting and see one of the three employees available just laughing and talking to a person for the whole time i was waiting and she didn’t even cut the fun conversation to take time to care for the service I needed. When they are busy is frustrating and when they are not is even worst. They need to step up customer service.

Absolutely horrible. sorry for the long winded review but you will understand if you read through it. Got an auto loan through this credit union. Went in to set up an automatic payment, they told me your first payment is due in a week so you will need to make a cash payment and your automatic payment will start the next month. Okay no worries easy day. So I make the cash payment, a week later an automatic deduction comes out. Even though the paper work which I have copies of says not to start for another month. So I go to the back to discuss, yup its totally our fault (SECU) and we will refund you your money. Okay great, but it will take 7-10 business days. Wait what??? So Im just supposed to call all the other companies whos bill I have to pay and just say oops SECU made a mistake so you will have to wait for your payment, and also tell my kids and family hey we have to wait to do any of the activities we have planned because hey the bank screwed up and took more then 500 dollars from us and it will take a week or two to get back. This is so unacceptable. Not only would they not put it back in my checking account that they took the money from but also instructed me that I would have to come back after the money was refunded and then withdrawal it at a branch. So because you all basically stole over 500 dollars from me I have to take time outta work to come get it in a week or two and just sit and wait till you go through all your process to get the money back that you stole. Complete garbage.

Another bad experience. Waste of time. ATMs’ always have issues. Sing say OPEN on green and when we press “start” say we are attending other customer resulting on a closed lane. At least once a month I come to waste my time and not be able to out the money in the account. Is frustrating.

Disappointed with the new off-site reality-show ATM-robot-style tellers. Makes it difficult to to have tailored currency transactions. Not to mention everyone around hears your business. My understanding is that many SECU offices are moving in this direction. Im also told that ATMs can tailor mixes of note denominations but where are these machines??

The absolute worst bank experience in my entire life. They have many fees, long lines, no tellers, and there process to close the account is aweful. They require that you give them cash but then won’t provide you with change. It’s a bank!!!! A bank without change? Ridiculous. Please join a better credit union like navy federal or apl.

I rarely take the time to write a review and usually only when I have something negative to say. Today my 18 year old son and I went into this SECU office to inquire about him getting him a credit card, and we met with Valerie. I wasnt sure what the right thing to do would be - make him an authorized user on my credit card, sign him up for his own credit card, give him a Debit account, etc.. I went in pretty ignorant and in need of help and advice. Valerie could not have been more helpful. She was just wonderful and patiently explained everything in detail, offering advice on what the best options would be. When I didnt understand some of the details, she drew diagrams that visually helped me understand. I was also interested in opening up my own credit card since our Citi card gives 1% cash back with a cap, while SECUs cash back credit card gives back an unlimited 2%. She told me about credit card options other than the cash back card, such as the Signature Card which allows for either cash back or rewards. She did all of the work for us, and we walked out as members, with a debit card for my son in hand, and a student credit card in the mail. I am so impressed with SECU and in particular with the wonderful lady named Valerie who helped us today. Thank you!!

Replaced on site tellers with off location tellers. Who know nothing about the branch, and the new machines make every transaction slower. You will eventually have to go inside to speak to a non-teller because everyone else is off site. Shame that they took the personal and customer service away from this bank with the new change. I was able to watch 20 mins of a show on my phone while waiting

Cant get anything straight, makes consistent errors, and the people you call are useless. Again I attempted to pay two months n the drive trough and it was not properly credited to my ac count, , sent message that was not answered. I will be looking for another credit union. The sate of MARYLAND SHOULD CLOSE YOU DOWN. cANT WAIT TO WITHDRAW MY SAVINGS.

This isnt a credit union, its a loan stop with machines for any other services. If you want to actually do banking without people over hearing you talking to a machine, go elsewhere. As a SECU member Im appalled this set up even exists.
