I have been coming to this location for a while now, it’s so upsetting to see the employees at this store get bad reviews and customers that give them a hard time, people forget that in retail some things are liable to happen and they forget that the people that work there are people to. I would bypass the negative reviews this store has because they have probably helped over 200 people a week but only the people who have bad experiences post reviews, I think we should normalize giving great reviews when we experience great customer service and stop being so quick to try to tarnish these folks reputation, thanks vision works for my contacts I will be coming back to spend my money there, you guys are fun and keep me happy every visit. I love vision works and this location

I called ahead to inquire about getting lenses replaced, having had an eye exam there just 3 years ago. The person on the phone said that was doable. So I went in and the staff refused to assist me. They told me to leave if I wasnt going to have an eye exam. So not only did they have a mixed message between phone and in-person, but they were extremely rude.

I have only good things to say about my experiences at the Columbia, MD location. I’m a senior and have a really hard time selecting new glasses. I have a complicated prescription. I was greeted by Alexis with no wait time. She was very friendly and helped me in selecting a very nice frame that suits my face well. I usually don’t go alone to select glasses but Alexis was there every step of the way to make sure I was satisfied with my selection. I felt like a valued customer. There was also no wait time to pick up my new glasses which arrived much sooner than promised. I’ll be back for my next pair. Thanks Alexis and Visionworks.

Literally purchase sunglasses more than month ago still have not received it and just found out the guy who process my order did not send my frames in. you had one job. sad to think. if i havent called and remembered that i ordered glasses they would have not even bother checking and the girl on the phone could not care less.still have to wait another week

I am so pleased and quite frankly impressed with my first visit here. I brought my son here for an eye exam. We didnt have an appointment however, they accommodated him with good customer service and positive attitudes. We were helped by friendly front desk staff. One of the staff members, Arthur, went above and beyond to touch base with my out of network insurance company over the phone. He was patient and phenomenal! We felt valued and left very happy.

Great service. My eye exam was handled efficiently and the DR. answered all my questions as well as provided some solutions for my dryer eyes. Went into detail on both eyes including what was causing minor scarring on one of my eyes.Other staff was also very friendly in helping me get in and out in a timely manner, but didnt feel rushed.7/23/2021 EDITSo, after a good initial visit, I was told Id receive my glasses on 7/16, it is now 7/23 and Ive heard absolutely nothing from Visionworks, not even an automated message telling me its delayed.If I look up my order, it just says Pending, no ETA, no information. Just pending.Dropping this review from a 5 -> 2 until further notice, well see how/if an effort is made to either get me other glasses or what. I hoped leaving a full month of time between my order and my vacation would be enough since Im going on a long drive and would like to have clear vision when driving (especially at night).TL;DR, good initial service and exam, ordering is not good.

I had a great first visit to Visionworks. It was super easy to book an appointment the very next day. I was greeted with a friendly smile by Alexis at the receptionist desk. She asked a few questions and helped to guide me to picking a perfect pair of glasses! The assistant doing contact exams and retina tests was very friendly, too. Dr. Foster was very knowledgeable and helpful explaining about my astigmatism changes. He was personable and took the time to answer my questions. Art was great at explaining my insurance coverages and helpful in finalizing my purchases of contacts and glasses. I was very pleased with my first visit to Visionworks!

This is the best Visionworks location I’ve ever been to. The customer service I receive from Ms. Lexi is phenomenal. The staff and doctors are always courteous and professional. They have even gone the extra mile. I was looking to replace a pair of frame I lost. The frames had been discontinued, Ms. Lexi called around to a few other nearby locations to see if they had the frame still in their inventory. It’s this type of customer service that keeps me coming back. If your in need of new glasses or eye exam I strongly recommend this location

Very poor customer service. I made an online appointment and waited for 40 in the waiting room. Doctor gave me my prescription right away, she didn’t offer free contacts to see if the prescription is correct. After ordering contacts, I can see that she made a mistake with my prescription, it’s totally wrong. Trying to call them back and fix the issue, they just put me on hold for 12 mins. I guess next time I’m going to Pearl Vision.

This place is total trash - stay away! Contact order was incorrect, and was unable to get a hold of anyone to fix it. The store either has the phone off the hook, doesn’t answer, or puts you on hold and never comes back. When contacting central customer service, was told only the local store can assist. After 2 weeks of this, I’m now disputing the charge with my credit card company.

I dropped my glasses off on 11/13/2020 for a lens placement for the right eye. Several weeks later I received a call stating there was a problem with my order and to please call the store. It took me 3 days to get through. One day I was on hold for an hour and no one ever picked up. When I finally got through I was told My prescription had been incorrectly copied and I would need to come back in so they could copy it correctly. When I got to store I asked if their phone lines had been down and was told “sometimes we get so many calls we just don’t answer the phone”. Really!!!! So now it is Jan 6 and I still don’t have my glasses. I tried to call the store but of course no one answered. I checked on line and it states my order is “pending”. So I have been waiting almost 2 months and still do not have my glasses not to mention You have $227.50 which I paid to receive nothing so far. I have used this visionworks for years and the customer service was wonderful. What happened???? If you are unable to fill my order can I at least have my glasses and my money refunded? Worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Horrible service. I ordered my glasses from here and waited about a month for them come in. I was alerted by text that they were ready for pickup, but when I went to pick them up, they told me it was an error. So I waited another two weeks before I got another text saying my order was ready for pickup. When I went and tested them, they seemed blurry. One of the workers present told me that there was no prescription on them… After I had been tested for my number at this exact facility. A lot of confusion amongst workers, horrible service, if you are reading this, please go to another store for all of your glasses needs. 0/10

The young lady at the front desk had an attitude the entire time and quite frankly seemed annoyed to help anyone who walked in. I waited at the desk to get checked out for 25 minutes as the only other two people working helped four other people who had come much later and were helped much faster than me. I expected to a quick visit and replacement for my glasses, but instead have been annoyed and waiting for over an hour and a half now.The doctor was great and very kind during my exam, but I can safely say due to the poor customer service of the staff here I will not be returning.

Hands down the best experience Ive had getting an eye exam/glasses. The staff ( Alexis, Sara, and Dr. Ma) was extremely friendly and very customer-service driven. I purchased 2 pair of designer frames and a yr supply of contacts for less than $500. I highly recommend scheduling your next eye exam appointment at this Visionworks ( scheduling online was fast and easy).

Not returning. The first day I went with an appointment, but the place was not following any COVID-19 procedures that were posted. Entering the door it had listed there would be temperature check at the sign in table. When the receptionist asked what I needed I asked about the temp checks and pointed at the sign assuming, she was just overwhelmed because it looked busy. She gave this off handed Oh, yeah. Ill do that. and spent the next minute looking for the thermometer. Meanwhile, the website requests only the patient if possible with no more than one other. There were whole families in the store. With children running around and chasing toys. It was clearly packed, and folks were not wearing masks properly. No one in the store did anything about it. Also because of the way they have to handle the glasses, and disinfect there wasnt a way to actually be able to see all the glasses that were available and for sale. Sure, they were busy that night, but I ended up back the store 3 more times and saw just piles of glasses that no one was cleaning and putting back up. The store wasnt busy then. When I picked up my glasses the first time, the receptionist handed me the glasses and let me be on my way. Ive been wearing glasses for well over 20 years. Opticians at any place Ive been always double checks the glasses against where my pupils line up, check for fit, and helps me adjust it before I left. Well, that didnt happen. Sure fine, whatever. I left tried my glasses for the next week and found I couldnt see without seeing double. Returned to the store. Met with a different optician and found my pupils were not aligned correctly with the lens. Actually, I went to my eye doctor too and he also verified that they werent lined up correctly. So I dropped the glasses off for them to remake and picked up the corrected prescriptions a week later. I asked to see the optician and requested the prescription and lens be double checked. Of course, no one bothered to check fit or remeasure my pupils. Just ran my glasses against their instrument to make sure that the lens prescription matched what they wrote. If I have to return to that store again, its a refund. Im not dealing with them any more.

Visionworks at Columbia Crossing has had my glasses since November 13. I brought them in to have the right lens changed out. To make a long story short, I spoke with the store manager on January 7 who said my glasses were still at the store because there was confusion as to which lens needed to be changed. Tries to buy sunglasses from this store. They were originally tried to give me the glasses off the shelf everyone had tried on and bent up. You would think for $250 they would give you a new pair. After pointing that out they offered to order me a new pair since they didnt have them in stock, not a problem. It should only be a couple days. Nope, that was a month ago. Ive tried calling multiple times, they dont pick up. So, Im out the money the best I can tell.Update: I worked with Visionworks after they replied below. The manager of the store called and claimed they had the glasses I ordered in and they had been waiting for me for a week. I had my wife go in and pick them up for me today. They gave her the same bent display model that I refused over a month ago and asked for a new pair. They didnt even try to hide it, they put them in a Ray-Ban case with Ray-Ban paperwork when they are Lacoste. I cant make my review go any lower, avoid this store at all cost.

2+ hours of my life I will never get back. Went in with my girlfriend (early might I add) for a quick eye exam, came back out 2 hours later with absolutely nothing. On top of the terrible customer service, their computers had a problem processing the insurance, so we were told to come back another day and hope it works then. After getting ignored by the staff for other customers, wasting our time waiting, and ultimately leaving completely dissatisfied and disappointed, why would we want to return?

Hello I wanted to start by giving Alexis who is now managing this location a High Five!So after months of being in quarantine, I finally made an appointment for my yearly eye exam through another optical location, but they did not have the product that I was looking for.Once I walked into Alexiss store, I was greeted and treated with great customer service. I was there to choose frames and get lenses and was told to pic out my frames and I would be taken care of shortly.As I started choosing my frames I noticed two customers talking to Alexis and loved the way she treated them. I said to myself....I hope I get that person to help me.Well after about 5 minutes Alexis called me to the same desk and started helping me with choosing frames. She was very knowledgeable, courteous, and listened to my needs in order to provide the best service! I felt like I knew her as a friend...lol.I was impressed------I will definitely be coming back to this location for any future optical services. I hope Alexis goes very far within your company and beyond!!!!

I went into their store on Friday night to look at their selection and I found several I liked. I made note of the frames and left. This morning I returned with my daughter to help me choose. As soon as we walked in the woman who had greeted me last night said, “Good morning. You’re back!” I was surprised she remembered me. I found the frames I liked and was invited to sit with Wish, a representative. She helped us pick the perfect frames and ran the numbers for me to get the best option for my eyes and my wallet. She was fantastic. In fact, everyone in the store was friendly and the staff obviously works well together. This was the first time I’ve been in this situation and felt relaxed and unhurried. Thank you for a great experience, Wish! I told my husband Visionworks in Columbia will be our new go-to place for glasses and contacts.

My hubby and i have been going to this Visionworks for many years. As always it was a great visit. Dr Foster is excellent and funny. First time with him and hope for many more times. The 3 staff members out front were the best ever. Very helpful especially with our insurance benefits. All three staff members were so pleasant and we had good laughs. I love the friendly happy time! 1st let me say this, This is my 2nd time coming here the 1st time was in the beginning when the pandemic hit , the ladies in there were so unprofessional and unwelcoming.This 2nd time was a breath of Fresh air, I had just had surgery that wed before I went , my apt was on a Fri or Sat. Any was I was greeted by the nicest lady every she was very welcoming and patient with me, she even offered for me to sit and she would bring me my paper work. The Dr was Great as well and at the end another Female who had awesome energy chked me out help understand the prices and even fixed my sons glasses for me, and I didnt get them there... Everyone was Life! its hard to come across good customer service now a days. So I am grateful for the whole staff!!!!! Even the gentleman educating me on rings.

I waited I received my glasses but more than a month has passed and I haven’t received my contacts! I called so they can tell me the update and they said they were mailed!!! they say they would call back 3 times few days apart so they can do their research and they are terrible no call back ever since! I will never visit this store again. And up to this day I’m in hold to speak to someone!!! SMH

IMPORTANT READ! WARNING: GO ELSEWHERE FOR BETTER SERVICE. BACKWARDS PROCEDURES ARE COSTING THEM CUSTOMERS. They say “due to covid” you cannot simply make an appt to walk in and look at frames. The demand you come in with an RX or you cannot get service and are not allowed to responsibly look at frames then do everything in-house from there. I find this very backwards as their competitors LENSCRAFTERS are allowing folks to come in an seek out a frame responsibly. I’m not going there to touch a hundred frames and discussed with them that I WAS a good customer of theirs and my eyeglasses are 5 years old and was very serious about replacing them and would be responsible and pick out only a couple pairs that I liked and would not touch others. Their practices are backwards and I’m sure we will see a retort from the store manager soon to follow after my review. I handled the phone call very professionally and called twice to verify their procedures as I found it hard to believe and to inform them that their competitors are taking their clients from them as a result. I have no intentions of having an eye exam first the be “allowed” to look at frames. That is not an appropriate way to conduct business even during times of extra precaution that I also respect. So I am taking time out of my day to share my experience with others of how disappointed that their competitors have found a way to keep it safe and smooth however they cannot. They should take a page from LensCrafters book and realize they are being crushed by competitors that have clearly come up with a safe method to help make it easier and still keep it safe. I hope the sacrifice in my time writing this helps others not have to be forced to do business backwards. There is no retort by the manager that can overcome a very reasonable request and professionally handled call. Kept my calm and informed them politely. Not one exception was made. They lost me forever and the word will pass... PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO OTHERS to help. Thank you for reading PS TAKING NOTE TO THE OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS AND IT SEEMS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY PATRON THAT HAS BEEN DISAPPOINTED IN THEIR PRACTICES LATELY. Perhaps a change in management is due as their score is 2.8 which is typically a direct reflection of practices. Corporate may be the next step I take to shed light on this issue to help others receive better svc as well. They really need to take a step back and review their position when it comes to customer service as word-of-mouth is everything as well as reviews. 2.8 rating should be a turning-point for reorganization as it will greatly affect their business relations with clients. I have a VERY strong belief that customer service is EVERYTHING and when you get hit with upsells and upgrades you simply MUST build the trust in your clientele prior to attempting add-on profit margins. One sure-fire way to do that is repairing your ratings so there is little to no predisposition prior to the client walking in with the mindset that they handle it poorly in prior circumstances based on lengthy and informative reviews alone. Lengthy reviews usually require a great deal of amazing customer svc OR incredibly poor svc in order for someone to take the time as I did out of their valuable day. TO GENERAL AND DISTRICT MANAGER: YOU MUST STEP IT UP TO COMPETE PROPERLY OR YOULL LOSE YOUR LOCATION DUE TO POOR CLIENT CARE. Heard horror stories about this place and had bad experiences in the past but I decided to give it another chance since they accept my insurance and close to my house. I regret that I wasted my time.Terrible customer service. Not greeted upon entering. I understand that with COVID19 everything seems to take longer but the staff here is rude and unorganized.First, they helped a customer first who came in after me. Then I overheard another customer who asked them to squeeze her in when she did not have an appt for an eye exam which they did. It was very nice of them to squeeze someone in, but customers who made appts should be given priority! Makes zero sense. I had an appt yet they took her back even though it was over 30 minutes past my scheduled appt time. This was the final trigger- when I asked them about this they just asked me to be patient or reschedule.My coworkers also had similar experiences with terrible customer service here. Please avoid.

I came in about a month ago and was helped by Ms. Alexis at the Columbia location. Originally when. I returned for pick up, I was not satisfied with the look of my lenses. However, after patience and feedback we were able to get a quality of lense that works well for my prescription. When I returned for my 2nd pair I was much happier, and in the store Ms. Alexis and Mr. Arthur were able to help me and shave my lenses even more in the store and meet my expectation of quality. I am so happy with my results and the level of professional customer service at Vision Works on columbia. Very helpful, honest, and professional services. Thank you so much Alexis and Arthur!

The service at this location is horrible. I wish I could rate it less than one star. I went to the store to get my sons glasses and instead of the lady verifying my information, she wanted to tell me what kind of insurance I had. She sent me to another store because she said they didn’t accept my insurance. I went to the other store and called the insurance company who in fact told me that they accept my insurance so I went back to Visionworks. Already wasted an hour and then the second visit, she claims that they will need to verify my insurance cause she couldn’t find it. The center they need to call closes at 5 pm which I got there at 4 pm that day. At this point, I spent two hours in the store with very little help. I decide to go back the next day, and the representative was able to pull up my insurance immediately in the system but I had to wait for a retail specialist. The store was pack and only had one retail specialist. I waited for over an hour and still didn’t get any glasses for my son. I wasted a total of 3 hours. This store is not organized and staff really need to be trained. I am very disappointed and decided to try another store. I don’t plan on going back until I hear things are better.

I paid for contacts in Aug 2019 and STILL have not received. Been in contact with them multiple times and get the run around. Came in 2 times to see if I could get results. Was told once they will be mailed to my house. Never got them. Keep being told I will get a call back...I give them a week and then I have to call back.Before this I had great experiences with them and getting my glasses and contacts. Will give them another try but this is way beyond too long now for my daughters contacts. She will need a new prescription before receiving these!!!

I went to Visionworks to buy glasses, I already had a prescription. I didnt realize that I needed an appointment, but the store was empty anyway. The employees were rude and refused to help me. I had to ask multiple times to convince them to let me look at the glasses by myself in the empty store.So I left and bought my glasses somewhere else. The other store was great and helpful, glad I chose them instead.

Ill never visit this store again. Ever.The quick-notes version: deceptive and manipulative advertising. Youll never qualify for any of those deals they advertise.The long version: A little background: My husband and I do not have glasses-- so as a whole, this is newer territory for us. Child #1 has glasses and is newly on his 3rd year. Weve always used lens crafters in the mall and for the most part loved our service there. I was underwhelmed with them this year as when I purchased their warrantee last year I was told something that ended out apparently incorrect from what they told me when I went to redeem it. I was really mad about that! So! Now child #2 needs glasses. Lured by the $29 eye exam and buy one get one free, I decided to try out vision works. The eye exam was fine, but the technology to test the eyes is not updated like lens crafters is. The staff... are okay. Not particularly friendly or helpful. The guy who helped us particularly. What really made my blood boil about the experience (like, literally-- I was so angry the entire I was in there today to pick up the glasses), was that basically all of their marketing is gotcha marketing. Its all BS. There is essentially no way to qualify for any of it. The buy one get one free works on frames $89 (? or something like that) and up. Most of the kids frames are in the $70s or $120+, then the lenses are $55 each. So, they ask, do you want to use insurance? Yes? Well, then you cant get any of the specials. Its all hand held calculators at desks 70s ghetto style calculating out what your price options are, which they spout out to you and expect you to remember?? I think the guy who helped us missed his calling as a used car salesman-- def has the aloof game down. Finally he told me the total $195 total. Im managing my kids as this is all going on, so hand him my CC to get the heck out of there. Get to the car and see I wasnt given the $29 special for the stupid exam. Walk in and ask the clerk. She goes and asks our salesman, who doesnt bother to turn around to talk to me, then she tells me I couldnt get it bc I used my insurance. Today when I went in to pick up the glasses those signs advertising the specials have NO mention of that. The whole place pisses me off. DONT GO HERE. AT ALL. Waste of my life-- back to lens crafters with their forthright pricing and helpful customer service I go. I HATE shady advertising like this-- so dishonest and manipulative. And I have no faith whatsoever in the warrantee for the year that cost 20 or 30 dollars to replace lenses and frame according to our sales guy... yet I got no paperwork on it. Shocker.

Insurance that I have had for years stopped being accepted I had to waste my time making an appt and take time off work for them to tell me this in person. They also refused to give me my prescription to take elsewhere. Employees also do not respect social distancing rules and reached across me at the counter several times.

I was seen at Visionworks in Columbia on 1/27/2020. I have still not received the contacts that were ordered at that time. Last Friday I spoke with a representative who was very helpful. She could not find the completed order in one of your systems nor the tracking information. She reordered both boxes and said they should be in by Tuesday of this week. I called yesterday and they cant find that order either. The representative I spoke with yesterday had a trial pair to give me that I am picking up today. At this point, contacts that should only be worn two weeks have been worn over a month because Visionworks cannot seem to track and fulfill orders.Today I visited the store. Michelle and Brooks were the only people able to solve this problem. The 2nd order that was placed arrived. Michelle even brought it out to my car. While this was a lot to go through for contact lenses, these two went above and beyond to solve the problem.

I would give ZERO stars if possible. This location is HORRIBLE. I should have looked at reviews prior to visiting here. The staff does not work well together and it shows. Horrible customer service. We made an appointment for when they first opened and it took over an hour to be seen for the eye exam....WITH AN APPOINTMENT. Walk ins were taken before with NO APPOINTMENT. I will take my business elsewhere in the future. Hopefully people look at reviews before visiting this place. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION. ZERO STARS.

Most disorganized customer care service ever .. Initially guided by retail lady to choose glasses, then made to sit for almost an hour, then being told that I should have seen customer care to get ringed up first which is what I had intended to do first anyway...I had attempted to talk to customer care lady at least one time who flatly told us that we never approached her. 2 stars only because shop is clean and maintained. I can see why the outlet has so many poor reviews.

I don’t usually post comments but Art Crownover, manager Of Columbia Visionworks deserves one. I bought a pair of glasses with the buy one get one free 1 yr 2 months ago. I had trouble from beginning with the 1 pair being loose and always falling off. I went to the store several times and couldn’t get them to fit right so gave up.....until they fell and broke. My other pair are sun glasses so I was panicked since I don’t wear contacts. I went in and explained the problem and I sat with Art who informs my warranty was up and I’d likely have to buy another pair and it would have been expensive. I was upset because these were an expensive brand and I’d had problems. Art actual listened and cared!. Art found the frames and said let me see what I can do. He came back with the new frames and my lenses in them and had me try them on. I said these fit and Art even said wait he saw they needed adjusting to fit better and went to adjust. He came back and said now try. They fit great and then Art said these are yours now and how sorry he was with what I had gone through. He explained the service was not the best and they realized this and have revamped the stores. This was the best service I’ve had from anyone in years and I am very grateful to Art Crownover for not only listening but Really caring and providing top notch service! I will stay with Visionworks now and hope people read this because he’s the manager and not only cares but acts on it which is pretty amazing now days...Thank you Art Crownover!!!!

I should have looked at the reviews before going to this location.. Looks like many people are unhappy with the services here. I came for a contact and regular eye exam at the end of December. Ordered lenses. They said when lenses were ready they would text or call me. Two weeks later....no call or text. So, I show up at the store and the lady tells me that they just recieved a large shipment of lenses but that they are short staffed, therefore they have not been able to sort through the boxes. So, I told her I would come back later since I knew they were busy. Two weeks later, still no call or text. I went back to the store. I was told my lenses were back ordered, only to find out that they never ordered my prescription from the beginning. I will be discontinuing my services here and will be calling corporate to let them know of the dishonesty and poor service that I experienced here.

Unfortunately, I must echo the sentiments of everyone else who stated, “I would give 0 stars if possible.” I called to inquire whether my daughter’s prescription had expired, and the employee on the other end asked me to hold, and then uttered “these people are getting on my nerves today.” She continued to speak to me with rude indignation and an abrasive tone. I was at her mercy because I needed this information today, so I attempted to remain polite and calm. I can’t believe Visionworks hires people who treat customers that way, but they are far from the only eyeglasses shop in town. That will be my last experience with them.

Unfortunately, the other reviews were correct. I can not in good conscience recommend this place. In fact I will complain to my insurance company to see if they can offer an alternative In-Network Provider. My exam was fine but everything changed when I settled on a pair frames. There are some nice people there but the associate assigned to me appeared to only be interested in commission sales. She could not explain why my +1.50 progressives lens were going to cost me almost $500 with VSE insurance. Without any explanationshe attempted to up sell me additional frames before answering concerns on price and options. Sad.When I asked for a breakdown she simply closed the screen and said that it was just a promotion. At that point it was clear to me that my business was not appreciated. I explained that I really needed my glasses but could not afford the prices. She then had me initial my receipt and said we were done. How this store can do business like this and exist is beyond my understanding I debated going back to see if I could talk to the more friendlier associates but my first impression is a lasting impression. I would not accept free glasses from this place.

I had the best experience here of any Visionworks that Ive visited in several years (formerly called Davis Vision in New York, not sure about this area). The wait time was very short, the staff was attentive, helped me get my frames repaired immediately - for free - and everyone kept speaking to me with full eye contact. In other words, I felt like a pampered customer. Great for a drop-in experience at a busy time of day!

Avoid coming to Vision Works. As a patient you deal with things such as: long wait times to be seen (even if you’re only picking up glasses), false timelines of when items could be ready, expensive prices of frames and lenses. I’ve had multiple bad experiences over years of coming here and I can’t wait to go somewhere else with my business.

I have been using Visionworks for all my Eye care needs for quite awhile now. The doctors and customer service is great. I have been taking my daughter there now and they do a wonderful job with working with Children. They made her experience a fun one and we recommend any family with children who need to see an Eye doctor to visit Visionworks. You wont be disappointed.

Without a doubt, this is the worst store to get glasses at. It takes forever and a day to get anyone to help you and when they do, they are not knowledgeable. They are flustered and horrible at customer service. They do not answer the phone and after 15 minutes and 13 seconds the first time, and 14 minutes and 59 seconds the second time (calling) their phone automatically hangs up. Our sons glasses were supposed to be there today, we called this morning and all they could tell us is that they are out for delivery. Now, depending on if they are in the delivery when they get it, they will let us know. Well, 4 hours later and they still havent contacted us. Then, when you do try to call, you are stuck on the automatic answer that your call is important to us....yeah right. I just want to if his glasses are in, I dont want the answer to life, just his glasses. Staffing is horrible, they know that it is the end of the year, they encourage making sure you get in and use your flexible spending account dollars before they roll out over the new year and yet they dont staff appropriately for the influx of business to buy their terribly overpriced glasses.

The employees were very kind and helpful when I was choosing frames and getting my exam done. They also helped pick the most cost friendly plans and gave kind honest feedback on the glasses. All in all I had an amazing experience and will go back there if I need any new glasses or get a new prescription.

The most unorganized customer care ever. If they continue to get such bad reviews, why doesnt the manager make some changes??? Maybe hire more people to work Saturdays? No one seems to know who is helping who and people are waiting around everywhere. Overhead someone say they were waiting 45 min with no one helping. We had a good experience with the dr but then have been waiting for 50 min so far just to check out.

I went today after church to get two new pairs of glasses (much-needed!) during the current BOGO sale. Megan was incredibly helpful and I was able to select glasses that worked for me and were affordable almost upon arrival! She was courteous, kind, and efficient, taking ample time to understand my concerns and I really enjoyed working with her. I will be coming back to Visionworks the next time I need a pair or two of glasses!

This Visionworks is THE WORST!! They NEVER answer the phone! I literally had to call five times to finally get an answer! The women here are so unprofessional and will leave you on hold for hours!! I paid over the phone for some new lenses and mines were scratched. A week goes by with no update on the lenses and come to find out the lenses BEEN at the store they just never called and told me! This store is so ratchet! Some customer service skills definitely need to be reintroduced to these folks. However, the guy who does the lenses was very nice! And got my glasses finished the same day I dropped them off!

Two of my kids go for glasses, one with autism. They are always patient and helpful. They work with me to get the best price and since one of my kids tends to break his glasses (too often),I am frequently in there. Ive never had a problem. They can get busy, but since they are so helpful it doesnt bother me. I will continue to use them.

We were greeted professionally and instructed to go to the back to sit and wait for the doctor to perform his eyes exam.Once the exam was performed we went out to the main area in the store and were asked to pick out glasses that we would be interested in. The young lady who waited on us suggested a couple pair of glasses for me as my faces on them narrow side and I ended up purchasing those classes.The glasses came in about 10 days which worked out perfectly for our needs.All in all we were extremely satisfied with the care and courtesy shown us. I would have recommended Visionworks to my friends.

I went here for the convenience of being close to my work. The staff is not that friendly and not helpful with trying to look up my insurance. They looked at my card and said they dont take it without attempting to looking up direct billing. I had to pay out of pocket and get reimburse from my insurance carrier. For my next eye exam, I will take my business elsewhere.

Incredibly unprofessional, horrible customer service.The staff was extremely condescending and rude during all of my visits. Even after my visits, I called for my prescription to be faxed from a different store (non visionworks) and they never did so. The only good thing I can say is the actual doctor who did my test was very kind.

This place is HORRIBLE. Absolute terrible service and even worse staff. Ive been coming here far too long and thats my fault. Usually its been just for contact lenses. A few times Ive ventured to get glasses - regular eye glasses and sunglasses. Prescription and non. The first few pairs of sunglasses were good boys. How do you mess that up, right? Visionworks has found a way. Many ways. They either dont care about, or simply dont want your business. I havent even gotten into how they have messed up orders...almost WILLFULLY!! If you need eyewear, or anything related to your ocular health...do yourself a favor and find another place! The previous issue I had with them was supposed to go all the way to the Regional VP...and he did nothing. Then, even against better judgement I went BACK! My fault! They had a pair of frames I really liked...I ordered a pair of polarized, scratch-resistant, mirror tint lenses...nonprescription...Guess what?? They messed that up, too! This place is the bottom of the bucket. Just plain terrible. Stay away. Far away.

Terrible experience. Ridiculously long wait times, I had an appointment, but wasnt seen until 2 hours after. When I came back to pick up new glasses, 45 minute wait. My glasses were made incorrectly and staff very unhelpful to correct problem. Staff not knowledgeable. Insisted I was out of window to return/fix glasses when I wasnt. They made an appointment for me to resolve issue, and when I showed up, they said I never had an appointment.

Saw the bad reviews but the convenient location (didnt have to fight Columbia Mall traffic) brought me in for new glasses and contacts. Overview great experience from start to finish, good knowledge of products and helpful sales staff even though the floor had multiple customers when I went in. Pricing was comparable to other local area shops and I am very happy with my experience and results.

My daughter and I visited this location on yesterday. We had a very pleasant experience. I received exceptional customer service from the young lady with the green colored hair. Amazing staff! I was traveling and needed replacement glasses asap. Most other vision stores didnt have appointments or have the lens. This Columbia store had the lens. And I couldnt be more grateful. Our 10hr rd trip afterwards....I could see tremendously better. Ladies, you are all wonderful and I appreciate all of the help in making sure I had new glasses before getting back on the rd. My experience was nothing like many of the negative reviews mentioned. I believe that they are a bit understaffed in the evening but that shouldnt speak to customer service. The young lady that helped me was named Taj and she was very kind and accommodating. She helped me get the best price for what I wanted and I will definitely return next year. I went in the middle of the day and I think that made a difference as when I went to pick up my contacts and glasses, she was working practically alone attempting to service 4 customers at once...but thats not her fault. Great experience to me!

I do not recommend! They are grossly understaffed and I was given the wrong prescription by the optometrist!Last year, I paid out-of-pocket for an eye exam. I saw Dr. Walter Foster who gave me a prescription for both Glasses and Contacts. The contacts prescription was what I really needed, as they are a necessity to do my job. I attempted to order a pair of glasses and a couple boxes of contacts from my usual source. Upon receiving my order, I was informed that the prescription for my left contact did not exist!!! I forwarded the information for Visionworks and Dr. Foster’s information. I trusted that the company and Dr. Foster had spoken and received a slightly different pair of contacts than what was originally prescribed/ordered. The contact for my right eye felt great, however, the contact for my left eye did not feel normal. It was a thicker contact (Toric). It was constantly blurry and overall did not appear to be the correct prescription for my eye. I work/live on a cruise ship, so by this time, I was out of the state/country and living in the middle of the ocean.Both of the prescriptions I received for my contacts and glasses show that they are good for two years. Upon being flown back to Maryland for vacation, I returned to the Columbia Visionworks store to finally get my prescription straightened out before I ordered more contacts, as I did not want to deal with the same eye issues I had been dealing with for a year before I headed back on the ship. I was told by the associates in the store that my prescription was not good for two years, as was written on my prescription, but only one year. And, therefore, they couldnt do anything about it. I was also informed that I should have come back within sixty days from receiving my prescription to tell them that something was wrong, only then would they have fixed my prescription. I was not given this information the day of my exam, nor would I have been physically able to do anything about it at that point. I was also told that my only option was to pay full price for another eye exam, where they assured me that I would see a different doctor.I refuse to pay for someone else’s mistake. Had I been in town or had the means to fix the issue when I discovered it, I would have gone in right away. However, I was physically unable to go in for another exam at the time that I discovered the doctors mistake - when the contacts company told me the prescription did not exist. I am not an optometrist, a doctor of any sorts, nor an expert of eye care. There was no way for me to know, upon looking at my prescription, that it was wrong and that it was only good for one year, despite the fact that the prescription says otherwise. There was no way to know that I only had a year max to fix the problem. I trusted what Dr. Foster had given me, as he is supposed to be the expert. According to the typed document, signed by Dr. Foster, my prescription should still be relevant for another year and, therefore, the mistake on the prescription should be covered by the exam that I already paid for. I do not believe that I should be penalized for not catching his mistake sooner.The associates in the store were kind but did not feel they had the power to fix this issue without charging me for a brand new eye exam. I have sent an email and a written letter to the company asking them to rectify this problem. Nobody has reached out or gotten back to me! Up until this point, I have been a long-term customer of Visionworks since I was a child on my parents insurance, but I will surely be making a change in who I spend my money with now!

I just hanged up. Later called back had the same experience. This happend for like 4 times and finaly i got the answer that ur contacts are ready and you can come in for trails.they schedule appointment for today thats friday 07th at 2pm. When i was there on time. The lady on the counter said that they dont have the trail contacts ready so they connot take me in. I dont understand that if they didnt had my trail contacts ready than why did they put me in schedule. Have to take 2hr off from job go that place and get this answer that they dont have it ready. Lastly that lady dont even apologize for the inconvenience caused by them.this is ridiculous.

Horrible horrible service! They really need to get some nicer women that work there. I went here two years ago and had a problem with them due to the way they treated me. Service wasnt good then so I dont know what I was thinking about when I went back. I guess because of there location it made it convenient. They should really get a new manager. Also the way they talk to people and discuss your financial biz and budget should be between you and them and not the whole store. I will never go here again and they leave a bad taste in you mouth when it comes to all vision works now. I dont want to deal with any of them now.

I would give no stars if it was an option. I read the other reviews before I went and I thought, How bad can it be? Its just an eye center! Ugh. Its that bad. Trust me. Unless you have unlimited time and want to deal with sales associates who do not care AT ALL, then stay away from this place. You dont need to hear my horror story but just be warned that this place will waste your time and try your patience. I will say that the doctor himself was kind, and one associate took the initiative to apologize and act like she cared (Taylor). But another salesperson -- Jayla (not sure of the spelling) -- was absolutely awful. Im not even sure how she stays employed; she was rude and incompetent. Please dont waste your time at this place. I wish I hadnt.

12.29.19 edit: the customer service and the staff is A plus they really did try to fix the problem. However 4 visits to visionworks and 1 exam later with 3 different prescriptions.... this is a great place for you if you need a quick exam and your vision doesnt really change. However if you need anything more complex go elsewhere. Thank you customer service for trying to fix it and giving me a discount on the contacts.Honestly if I could give 0 stars... I would. Ive seen two doctors recieved two different prescriptions.... the first time I waited from 3pm to about 7pm..... granted my appointment was at 5 but i walked in at 3 asked if they could see me early. The lady said yes sure and then I was taken back at 6pm. Mind blown..... also can we talk about how the appointment was actually 3 minutes long and thats only because I asked for a recommendation on something else. The second was just as bad.... not only did the doctor say 5 words to me but also he didnt even tell me my prescription changed from being the same in both eyes to different until I got out and spoke with the sales people. The staff was very nice but it was not worth the money i spent and now I am so unsure Im going to a different eye doctor....... thanks for wasting I dont know 10 hours of my life. Ordered two pair of glasses and was told they would be ready in 5 days. I called to see if they were ready after 5 days and the employee says yes, so I go to the store to pick them up on Friday after work. However, the glasses were not ready, they only had the lens in and they had to reorder everything, they said expedite and should be ready Tuesday or Wednesday. I called Tuesday and they told me maybe Friday or Monday. I tried to cancel the order and waited 20 minutes for the manager. I told him to refund the order since expedite is longer than a regular order. Still no refund. AVOID THIS STORE.

I haven’t had an eye exam in forever and this experience was great! Dr. Foster was super friendly and personable. He explained what was going on with my eyes in such a clear and relatable way. On the retail end, Frank was amazing as well! He way beyond patient! I am super indecisive and I also had a bit of a snag with my payment, and he was great through all of that. This is not the closest location to my home or job, but i’ll definitely be back!

I had a very good experience at this Visionworks location. I read the negative reviews and watched for rude behaviors and did not see any rude behaviors. I was very pleased with my experience here. The wait time was not very long at all. What took the most time was me trying to choose the frames I wanted. I think this is a nice place to get your glasses or your eyes checked. I am very happy with my choice to go to this store location. Thank you everyone who took care of me.
