My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Marcus for over 20 years and we cannot say enough good things about him. He is very competent and has been great about any dental emergencies we may have had over the years. He always ensures we see him right away which is important for minimizing discomfort. In addition, his whole staff from the receptionists, to the dental assistants to the dental hygienists are top notch. The whole team makes it a pleasure, yes a pleasure, to visit the dentist. I highly recommend University Associates in Dentistry.

I had a wonderful experience getting implants and crowns from Dr.s Baer and Schelkopf at UAD. They impressed me right away at the consultation when they truly listened to me and really made sure I understood what the plan was and was happy with everything. I had pretty much all of my visible front teeth worked on plus a couple in the back and they did such a good job. After a decade of having missing then crooked teeth that made eating stressful I finally feel great smiling and can eat naturally again. They look real and I know the Doctors put a lot of work into making sure that they did. It is seriously beautiful work and the whole process was comfortable and reassuring. Everyone who works there is really nice and Im actually going to miss going now that everything is done!

I was referred to Dr. Stuart Schelkopf to treat external resorption on one of my front teeth. I was originally TERRIFIED of getting my front tooth replaced with an implant. Id already had braces twice (once as a high school kid and again as an adult in 2019) and the last thing I wanted to do was go through this. BUT, Dr. Schelkopf put my fears at ease. He talked me through everything, each step of the way. Not only was Dr. Schelkopf so nice to work with - all of the other staff were so friendly and helpful. The end result is amazing. You cant tell my front tooth isnt real. Thank you for everything!

I just can’t express the relief and happiness I feel after seeing Dr. Marcus today. I have a big fear of dental work so when my crown came loose the last thing I wanted to do was get it fixed. I have been a patient of Dr. Martin Marcus for the last 5 years. I found him after an accident fractured four of my front teeth and was in need of veneers. After 10 years of “dentist hopping” in Chicago I have finally found my tribe! ;) I was referred by a friend to Dr. Zalay about a year ago, and it has been a game changer! Aside from the epic talent at UADs office, they are just good, honest people. I was told by multiple dentists and prosthodontists that I would likely not be a good candidate for a dental implant due to a previous failed attempt, but under the care of UAD, I just left their office with a perfect crown and I could not be happier. I am happy to smile from ear-to-ear now! I highly recommend their practice, and wish I would have found them sooner.

Dr. Lauren Zalay of University Associates in Dentistry (UAD) is an expert in the field of dentistry. I recently needed a crown for a chipped tooth and both in the initial visit to take the impressions and then the follow-up visit to install the permanent crown - Dr. Zalay could not have been more professional in her care. And since most patients need to sit in the chair and not talk during this work -- it was an added bonus that Dr. Zalay has a great manner about her. She is very personable and a great conversationalist which makes the appointment fly by. I highly recommend Dr. Lauren Zalay for any of your dentistry needs!

I came here for a second opinion on a root canal (friend recommended them) and am glad I did. Dr. Zalay was great in explaining my alternatives to the root canal. We went with a less invasive option, and I’ve had no problems with that tooth since then. The staff is nice and everyone takes time to talk to you like a friend not just a patient. Leah cleans my teeth and always does a great job with a vibrant personality. My wife and I have been coming here for a few years now and I highly recommend them.

Dr. Marcus is the very best dentist who has ever treated me. I am 69 years old, so I’ve seen a lot of dentists. None can compare to his excellence. He has treated me for decades. This is a truly special place. It is hands down the MOST friendly dental office you will ever visit. No one ever forgets a name, it seems. Regina will greet you very warmly when you arrive. Dr. Martin Marcus is also extremely friendly and a very careful and talented dentist. He understood the limits of my insurance and devised a long term plan for my mouth that was both affordable and achievable, and took account of my busy professional schedule. The rates are extremely reasonable for a busy Loop dental office. Dental hygienists Kathy and Leah are also very friendly, kind, personable and skillful. I have been to more dentists then I can count - I couldnt find one that had my best interest at heart. That is until I met Dr. Marcus. He is excellent and extremely knowledgeable in all skilled/technical areas but what puts him over the top in my humble opinion is he is such a compassionate person. I had an inflammation of some gum tissue. I was worried that I had an infection. I called the office to see if I could get in and while they had a full schedule, they told me to come in and that they would see me. Kathy the hygienist took a look and was so nice, caring, and truly helpful. She thoroughly understood my concern. She took x-rays and confirmed that everything was okay. Dr. Marcus then took a look and sent me home with some antimicrobial mouthwash. I felt understood and well taken care of. They will be my office of choice for future appointments.

Finally, I found a great dental practice. Two highlights from my first visit:(that required only dental cleaning and check up): Unlike so many other dental practices, I did not feel pressured to get X-rays or schedule more visits. It feels like a clinic, not a business. And the dental hygienist, Kathy, is amazing. Ive never had such thorough cleaning drill, digging so deep, and yet with a gentle touch and a caring attitude. I went to Dr. Marcus for several years. All the work he did on my teeth had and is still being fixed by another dentist. His work is poor. I paid him $7300.00 for Invisalign and for work on several other teeth. The Invisalign failed and because of it I still need to have braces. Also the teeth he worked on either rotted out or had to be removed. His work is awful.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Marcus for over 30 years and I’ve got nothing but praise for him and his team. I used to have this horrible gap in between my two front teeth and he built up the teeth so that the gap wasn’t so evident. In addition, my bite was off and over the years, Dr. Marcus built up certain areas of my mouth so that the fact that my bite was off didn’t affect my jawbone. He is very kind, gentle and caring. Before I saw him, I had the worst experience with dentists. I highly recommend him and his team.

I recently had a very bad toothache and infection. Previously Dr Lauren Zalay had handled a really complicated root canal and implant in my mouth! Her work was superbNow here I am in Florida in great pain! She immediately responded to my problem and even offered to find me a Dentist in Florida! I instead came right back to Chicago where she fit me in first thing in the am! She was absolutely right to suggest that I see a Dentist immediately——I had a serious infection! She handled it with perfection and followed up several times to see how I was doing!!!!!! She is the BEST and I feel lucky to have her as my Dentist!!!!!

~Excellent Experience~Due to an old injury, my four front teeth were extremely loose.I made an appointment with Dr. Marcus and was in tears when I met with him. I really thought I was going to lose my teeth. It wasn’t that I was going to lose my teeth that had me in tears, it was Dr. Marcus’ calm demeanor, caring attitude and confident intelligence that immediately put me at ease. Dr Marcus did a fantastic job on my two front teeth that had had root canals done some time ago and did not look well. Not only he was able to save them (I thought a crown is the only way out) but most importantly he made them look beautiful and match the other teeth. He bleached them from the inside and applied a filling so well you cant tell whether there was anything done to them - the teeth look perfectly healthy and natural.Dr Marcus work is always done to the highest standards and complete customer satisfaction

Unlike most dentist offices, UAD is somewhere I truly enjoy going; the whole team is friendly and fun. They are also efficient, experienced, and know what they’re doing. The culture is customer centric and accommodating. I’ve had about 20 appointments so far (tissue graft, chipped teeth, cleanings) and have never experienced one mishap, hiccup, etc.Dr. Zalay attended an elite undergraduate university, so you know she is bright!!

I would highly recommend Dr. Schelkopf to anyone. He provides SUCH great, legitimate dental service. I naturally have problematic teeth, but he has been able to resolve a lot of my issues with his excellent care. I truly leave the office happy every visit. Dr. Zalay and the whole team at UAD are amazing! Dr. Zalay takes a personal interest in your dental health and cares that you understand what is going on. Ive never been more confident of the state of my teeth because I trust her knowledge and expertise. Dr. Zalay also did my invisaligns and the results are fantastic. She was aware that I was getting married and planned ahead to make sure I was ready! UAD has a great team of hygienists as well but Leah is my go to with her amazing ability to do such a thorough cleaning while having the sweetest personality. Also very important is Jane in insurance as she is very helpful and always works with you to make sure your insurance is processed correctly. Cannot recommend UAD enough!

Dr. Marcus is the best dentist I’ve ever had. The staff at University Associates in Dentistry is warm, helpful, and skilled. Dr. Marcus is a kind person and a talented dentist. He created 10 beautiful veneers for my top teeth.I had braces for 6 years starting in Jr. high and lasting all the way through high school. Dr. Zalay and the team at UAD are the bees knees! I first saw Dr. Zalay on an unusually cold November day. I had woke up that morning the same way I had gone to sleep the night before, in the dumps. My tooth was pulsating with pain. The pain had been going on for days. In my culture it’s a shame to seek help to remedy physical ailments. We’re expected to find the solution ourselves, or silently bare the pain.I had begun to fear it was more than just a tooth ache. Was I going to need dentures? I’m a young man. Gum replacement? What does that mean for my lifestyle? How much is that going to cost? The pain had grown in intensity. It felt like there was a war being fought on the left side of my mouth. The concerns were surfacing and my anxiety increased as I called Dr. Lauren Zalay of UAD on a recommendation from a friend of mine from summer camp. After explaining my predicament to my surprise they found time to see me the NEXT day. Full disclosure, it had been some time since I’d seen the dentist. My whole life I’ve been afraid of three things; spiders, my dad and dentists. At first I thought my instincts were right as various tools started penetrating my wedged open mouth, but thanks to Dr. Zalay’s Masterful hand eye coordination and dental knowledge, the event was painless and effective. The pain was gone. The recovery minimal, to say the least. Dr. Zalay is a hero and a star. She was so personable and informative walking me through each step and keeping things light with her brilliant sense of humor. Dr. Martin Marcus is a remarkably talented dentist! One out of a million dentists! In my senior years, his work on my mouth has made me happy and confident and brought back to me a smile that I haven’t enjoyed in many years!I had learned how to hide my smile because my teeth were in big trouble mainly because of my nervous habit of bruxism—grinding my teeth and clenching my jaw at night while sleeping! Further, I had additional problems from former dentists: I had endured over six root canals including two that had to be redone, two almost failed implants, two failed bridges and many teeth pulled. My former pearly white tooth smile was gone! My TMJ area started having trouble because my remaining teeth weren’t occluding properly. My attractiveness and presentation were in jeopardy. My face seemed like it was collapsing around my mouth.I had searched for a dentist that could restore my teeth and thus my TMJ and jaw health and hopefully bring integrity back to my facial presentation. Every dentist wanted upwards of $75,000 to do the job (one wouldn’t even start unless I signed a contract for $90,000 while asking me why had I destroyed my mouth?). Dr. Marcus came very highly recommended from knowledgeable people whom I trusted. I was told he was from a family of skilled dentists who did great work.I have noticed that there are two kinds of dentists’ styles: some are technically great and pride themselves in perfect, detailed work! However, they are usually not healers or doctors; they seem to lack bedside manner. They do a great job but they could’ve also been great computer technicians or Swiss watch makers. And then there are dentists who are healers with great bedside manner but they may not be able to do such great detailed work. Some dentists are gifted with both healing ability and great detailed skill. Dr Martin Marcus is both—highly skilled with great faith in his abilities while also having great bedside manner! And further, Dr Marcus is an artist! He has a developed aesthetic sense and a good eye for beauty and symmetry. When I first met him and he viewed my mouth, he didn’t criticize me or blame me for “destroying my mouth”. I asked him if he ever did this kind of restoration work before and he said he had and further, he let me know that he loved his work and looked forward to making people happy and healthy! Hearing that and learning of his reasonable prices, I decided to embark on a two year journey of dental restoration with Dr. Martin Marcus at University Associates in Dentistry. He and his skilled staff come highly recommended!

I had been looking for a dentist in the city when a friend recommended Dr. Zalay. Now I recommend her to everyone I know! She filled my first cavity, which I was nervous about. She helped me stay calm and made sure I didn’t feel a thing! The whole process was quick and seamless and I went about my day as if it never happened. I also see Dr. Zalay for Botox which I LOVE! Overall, she’s the best!

JoJo has been really amazing with my deep cleanings and has done so much to get me on track to having healthy teeth and gums. She is really patient and understanding with my fear of the dentist and takes the time to explain everything so well. At the front desk, Debbie, Samantha, and Regina always greet me with big smiles whenever I come in. And they are always willing to work with my schedule for appointments. The entire staff always has a smile and friendly nod when passing by. I can’t say enough good things about UAD. And even though I still get a little nervous whenever I have to go in for my appointments, I never regret going.

If I could give UAD more than 5 stars I would! This office is amazing - I was raised by a dental hygienist for a mother who is VERY particular about where I go for my dental services since I have left home and I can confidently say she would LOVE Dr. Zalay and her team. The whole staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and honest. They never oversell you or up charge their services or products and really take the time to address your concerns and educate you on whats best for you and why. Ive been going to Jojo for cleanings and Dr. Zalay for Invisalign - both are incredible to work with. Dr. Zalay took the time to educate me on the process, what to expect, timelines, etc., and has been more than accommodating in meeting me anytime I have questions or just want a quick 5 minute check in to make sure everything is progressing correctly. Her and her team are so patient and kind, not to mention hilarious and fun to be around. I look forward to going in and seeing everyone there! I am one of many from my office that visit here and everyone I know has had similar feedback. I will continue referring my network here as I highly recommend UAD!

The University Associates are a quality dental group, and Dr Marcus is an extremely skilled practitioner. I find the most important quality in a dentist is trust - that you can trust them to do an excellent job, and that you can trust them to not do unnecessary work. The team at UAD, and Dr Marcus and Kathy in particular, have proven them to be diligent and trustworthy partners in dental hygiene.I would recommend them in a Chicago minute.

Not agreed that 5star reviews are written from staff !!!!I am new patient since December 2017 by referralStaff is amazing from front desk to DR.and hygienistsHad a check up , x rays and deep cleaning that was done by Leah and she was amazing.They accommodate me with app since had nothing sooner available and Regina on front desk was very nice to call me every time they had opening becouse of cancelations !!!Happy that I am their patient!!!!

Dr Lauren Zalay is not only an amazing dentist.....she is now doing Botox too! I have gone to many doctors for Botox over the years and my Botox has never looked better. She even did a trick where she injected Botox by my nose to lower my top lip so my gums dont show when I smile. I love it! Never been happier!

Dr. Marcus is wonderful. On my last visit I had a chipped filling repaired and it has never been easier. Dr. Marcus took his time to make sure my bite was normal after the filling. And he made sure I was doing fine throughout the entire procedure. It was fast too - only 25 mins to repair and we determined I didnt need any novocaine to numb the area, so as Im writing this I have no droopy feeling in my face. :) Lisa is an excellent hygienist. She worked closely with Dr. Marcus to make sure I was taken care of. She is friendly and gentle. Also, they gave me a great discount on my filling because it was so fast and efficient.

Staff here are amazing, well informed and very helpful in every step towards your smile. I did go to Clear Choice first but made the perfect decision by having my procedure at UAD, they even gave me the small gap between my teeth and fake fillings which I insisted on having l, they are true artest in the dentistry field.

I had some real teeth issues over the years consisting of very crooked tops and bottoms as well as some broken and infected areas. I had shopped a few teeth replacement offices and came upon Dr. Stuart Schelkopf. Immediately his open, honest, easy communication gave me the confidence to pull the trigger. After many treatments, a couple implants and a mouth full of crowns...I had an amazing smile. This was much better than the all-in -4 replacement I originally was intrigued with. I am pain free, comfortable and have a beautiful smile that I never had. Always guarded about my smile I am learning to forget and let it fly. I could not be happier. Dr. Schelkopf has changed my life for the better and I am extremely grateful. I spent probably 30 hrs over a few month period and observed a very professional and team oriented, happy office. I was super lucky to randomly find UAD through my research. I would not hesitate to recommend UAD for anyone looking for simple or complex procedures. They have earned my trust and recommendation. I have been seeing Dr Lauren Zalay for the better part of a year. The patient experience at UAD is excellent. From accommodating appointment times that fit my work schedule, a clean and state of the art office and friendly staff, UAD makes it easy to go to the dentist. The hygienist Johanna has a gentle touch and makes the cleaning process comfortable. Most importantly, Dr. Zalay is thorough, personable and trustworthy. She has helped create a simple plan to keep my teeth healthy and white. I look forward to working with her and her team for years to come.

UAD is one of very few places within 100 miles that can provide advanced level dental implant services. While the cost was fair and directly comparable to other implant specialists in the area the work and products they provided are far superior by comparison. Without a doubt I made the right choice selecting UAD for my extensive implant work. For every visit I traveled over two hours each way and it was well worth doing so. Dr. Schelkopfs work was as close to perfection as you can get. Simply put UAD changed my life for the better I cant possibly thank them enough and I would recommend them every time for everyone looking for a reliable referral for dental implants.

The Temptations said it right.....the world is a Ball of Confusion. Not much to smile about. However, after my GREAT ( as usual ) visit with UAD and Dr. Marcus that is all I do now ...... is SMILE. :) DL

What a luxury to go to UAD. I have been going there for several years. Cleanings with Kathy, bonding, cavities, sleep apnea device with Dr Marcus & Dr Zalay, an implant with Dr Baer. Dr. Marcus and his staff are true masters of the craft. Ive been seeing Dr. Marcus and Dr. Delfs since 2008 and Im humbled by how much they both care about a patients well being and dental health. Beautiful office and fantastic staff.

There are two extremes here. Johanna and Dr. Zalay have a friendly, cordial and professional bedside manner and on the other end, Dr. Yousuf has a maverick bedside manner that is unnerving to say the least. He told me he wanted to cut random tendons in my mouth to do a tissue graft!!! Better to get a first and second opinion here and get the periodontal work done somewhere else!!!

Dr. Marcus handled a major traumatic injury affecting 4 front teeth. He did so with precision and expertise and a calming approach thru multiple steps. His mastery of cutting-edge dental technology impressed and comforted us.

I came in to see Dr. Zalay to get fillings done for the first time in my life. I was fairly anxious and didnt know what to expect. Dr. Zalay did an amazing job of keeping me at east with the process and had a wonderful attitude. She told me exactly what she was going to do and chatted with me as she did the work. In addition to having a great attitude, she made it very clear that she would spend as much time as necessary to get the job done perfectly.I will simply not consider seeing another dentist as long as I live in the Chicago area.Andy

Dr. Zalay and the rest of the team were incredible. From the very beginning of my journey, the team has been understanding, helpful, and compassionate in taking care of me and my teeth.A little over a year ago, I finally decided to get rid of my dentures and finally get implants. I am so happy that UAD was there with me on my journey. Dr. Baer did an amazing job with my implants, and I couldnt be any happier with the aesthetics and function of my new teeth. University Associates in Dentistry (UAD) merits the highest ratings for professionalism and customer care IMHO. This very successful practice is the best-run medical/dental office I have ever known. The dental skills of Drs. Marcus and Baer are top-notch. Moreover, all the employees seem happy to be there and operate as high-performing teams.I found Dr. Marty Marcus after analyzing a list of “Best Dentists in Chicago” in Chicago Magazine after repeatedly bad experiences with another dentist. Dr. Marcus is incredibly talented and very kind. He has been my dentist for nearly two years. I could not be more satisfied. From replacing the crown that caused me to seek a new dentist in the first place to a root canal to a crown for a new implant, Dr. Marcus’s work has been exceptional.Russell Baer, DDS and Dr. Marcus co-founded UAD, which was formerly affiliated with the University of Chicago. Dr. Baer specializes in dental implants, has been a pioneer in the area and keeps up with the latest techniques and technology. Dr. Baer performed the surgery to provide an implant last June. It could not have gone more smoothly.Dr. Marcus coordinated closely with Dr. Baer throughout the project. I returned to Dr. Marcus this week for placement of the crown. Perfect and painless!Dental hygienist Leah is masterful. I look forward to seeing her every six months. The many dental assistants in the practice work smoothly and seamlessly with the dentists as amazing teams. The receptionists are very professional and helpful.It is comforting to know that UAD can satisfy all my dental needs with excellence and efficiency.

Ive had 3 dentist whyll living in Chicago, UAD has been my best dentist expierence by far in my 38 years of living here. Dr Marcus and team are honest and kind and go way past the extra mile to take care of your teeth. Dr Marcus replaced my right front tooth and did a perfect job, hes an artist, I couldnt be happier. RUN!!!!Not only was I horribly humiliated and mistreated by the staff at UAD, but they have single handedly - destroyed my smile and dental health. This of course, resulting in severe depression and sadness about my smile.Dr. Baer is a fraud. The $12,000 he charged me to remove most of my front teeth and place 3 implants has and is being investigated. He put 2 of the implants too close together and one of them is infringing on a nerve, causing a great deal of pain. I complained about pain to this practice and they continued to treat me like I was either a drug addict or a drama queen.My recent consultations with qualified, good dentists, oral max surgeons, periodontists and the like... have reassured me, I wasnt crazy or dramatic.He proclaims his fame by asserting he is The Official Dentist to the Chicago Blackhawks.Something that was ridiculously thrown in my face, repeatedly.He is not. Call them.Check his Russian credentials. As my lawyers and the government is now doing.Youll hear a great deal more about this practice... stay tuned.BUT MOST importantly... BEWARE!!!!!

I would give UAD 6 stars if I could! I feel very fortunate to have been told about UAD from a player on the Chicago Blackhawks. I initially came in for a second opinion for some cosmetic dental work on my front teeth and was so impressed with their expertise and the plan that Dr. Marcus and Dr. Baer put together for me that I ended up going with them to get some pretty involved dental work done.I walked in very self-conscious about my smile and my teeth and after all of the work, I left feeling like a new person!Everything that I had done exceeded my expectations . The doctors and team at UAD have been very flexible with me at every stage in the process. I would not go anywhere else for the work that I got done. For one reason, there is no need to - all of the specialists work in the same office and they do a great job working together. Another reason is that I have always been nervous about getting the work done that I needed and Dr. Marcus and his team did a great job explaining what he would do and what I should expect. The procedures all went smoothly and they were always available with any questions or concerns that I had.I also go in for regular cleaning and have been very happy with all of the hygienists that I have had appointments with!I would highly recommend going to UAD for any dental needs!
