Registered for an appointment online after searching for a dentist with good ratings that was close to my apartment. They cancelled on me TWICE wasting a month of my life while I waited with teeth and gum pain. They asked me to reschedule a third time without apology. Pass.

The staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. The dentist was friendly, knowledgeable, and honest when consulting. If you have dental anxiety, I would recommend going here.

This has been my go to dentist location since I can remember. I recently took my mom again after her crown fell off and I just can’t rave enough about this location and the dentist that helped us out! If you want the old school family vibe-this is the place to go to. No rip offs if anything they work with you and make you feel comfortable.

Unfortunately, they dont disclose whether their staff is vaccinated or not. And, that usually means there are at least some whove chosen not to protect themselves or their patients...for a service where they spend most of the time breathing into your face.Any medical provider who isnt forthright in telling patients whether their staff is taking all precautions to keep them safe, cant be trusted.

I recently had a piece of my tooth break off, and needless to say was pretty nervous about what I would need to do, especially as an uninsured person. I booked an appointment with 1st Family as a new patient, and I think I lucked out! I ended up needing a crown, and Dr. Velano and Marlene explained the procedure every step of the way and made me feel at ease. I was mainly anxious about the financial impact, and while it wasnt cheap (what dental work is?), I felt the price was reasonable. Ill definitely be going back to 1st Family Dental in the future!

This was my first dentist appointment in a few years and the staff was so wonderful and helpful! Seriously impressed with the warmth, friendliness, and knowledge of everyone in both the front office and the exam rooms. I didn’t have insurance, but was given a very reasonable price for an exam/cleaning as a first time patient. Im always impressed with the efficiency of this place. For years, I walk in at my reserved time, Im in the chair in minutes, and walking out moments later! Even today when I had a filling replaced and I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, and they were totally professional - sharing info, checking comfort, etc. And the prices wont break a non-dental insured back.

My family and I have been part of this wonderful family for 15+years. Not only are they the best but also most professional and friendliest staff. I am writing this review on behalf of my friend, because she is so traumatized by her experience with the oral surgery team at 1st Family that I felt the need to advocate for her and future patients.Based on other reviews on this page re: oral surgery, it seems my friend is not the only one with a negative experience.My friend was referred by her dentist to the Andersonville location for wisdom teeth surgery. Her dentist provided all of the necessary medical records, x rays, etc. to the Andersonville office beforehand, with the caveat that they were to review and plan for any complications that may arise.On three occassions, prior to the day of her procedure, my friend called their office to ensure they had everything they needed and asked if there would be any other required exams on the day of the surgery. Each time, they assured her that they were all set and nothing else was required.Clearly they lied and did not review her records or prepare, because on the day of surgery they immediately surprised her with a $400 cat scan. They then inform her, at the very last second, that there is a strong chance she could lose all feeling in her jaw. Without any clarification or time to think they ask my friend Are you consenting to the surgery, yes or no?. My friend is a little taken back, but assuming they are oral surgeons and she is in good hands, she decides to move forward.Then the real horror starts. At the beginning of surgery, they only offer her local anethesia. Again, seems weird, but she trusts that they know what theyre doing so she goes along.Throughout the procedure she is extremely uncomfortable and in pain. Without consent, the assistant pushes down on her chest/neck area to brace her. My friend is HIGHLY uncomfortable with this and asks the assistant to stop, to which she does not comply. My friend is extremely scared at this point, considering the doctors have ignored all of her concerns and this is a high risk surgery.After the surgery, my friend expressed her negative experience to them, to which they smugly respond Typically people are put under for this procedure. EXCUSE ME?! This option was NEVER offered to my friend - so youre basically telling her that her suffering was avoidable?!To make matters worse, they only administered her 1/2 of the standard dose of painkiller, which wore off before my friend even made it home.The lack of concern, care & communication by this team is unbelievable. Not only did they fail to prepare my friend (or even themselves), but most concerning is the fact that they completely ignored her concerns/boundaries throughout the entire experience. I cant believe they have the audacity to charge her $2k for an experience that has left her shaken and violated.

Brought in two kids for exam and cleaning. The staff is very professional and polite as well as understanding. They KNOW WHAT THEY’RE DOING. The dentist is very polite and explain everything to the kids in a level that they can understand. To appointments that usually take an hour got done in 35 minutes.

Everyone, starting from receptionist was very friendly. Doctors seemed very knowledgeable. They were also ethical enough to tell me about my alternative options. When I was going to use my phone while I was waiting for the local anaesthetic to act sitting in the reclining chair, a doctor who was in the room doing something else I just did the chair so that I can use my phone easier. They make sure you have a positive experience while youre there.

I have been going to Dr. Velano since I was 14, he is the absolute best dentist in the city. I had a root canal this morning that lasted all of 45 minutes, totally pain free. He has also done several crowns for me that look brand new ten years on. Take both my girls there as well. Cannot recommend enough!!!

Use to like this place. Some people are better at customer service than others. I was called into work (out of my control because someone called off because they tested positive for COVID) so i had to go in and cancel a consultation. I tried rescheduling because I would have liked to still get it since that was my plan. Instead, they said they were charging me a 25 dollar cancellation fee, but can also reschedule me. Just rubbed me the wrong way. If you can go somewhere else..you should.

New patient and sign in process was a breeze. Everyone I dealt with was extremely nice. Dr. Velano was really helpful and informative.

Horrible place, bad customer service, they dont care about you until they got your money. Stay away from them. Had an appointment schedule for 5pm for oral surgeon to remove all 4 wisdom teeth, waiting hours no one on the front desk told me anything about wait times. They basically ignored me. I asked the front desk employee how long will be the wait she said a few minutes more. 30 more mins passed noone called me. Walked out of the place no one acknowledged my presence. The only thing they said on my way out was are you guys leaving? Wow great customer service.Please take your money and time somewhere else. Theres like 20 other dental places near them. Also while waiting to be called on they where gossiping about several patients, talking about violating peoples HIPPA laws.

Sunday afternoon I popped a crown and was lucky enough to save it. Monday morning I went in right after they opened. They shuttled me back so fast all I could say was I dont have an appointment and I have coffee breath! They took a look at the crown (by another dentist) glued it back on sent me on my way........all in 30minutes time!! These people rock!!

This was the worst medical experience of my life. I was shaking after and got in the car and immediately cried. I typically go to the Kimball location, which has been wonderful, but due to the placement of my wisdom teeth and nerves I was referred out to the Oral surgeon at the Andersonville location. Never again.After getting my referral I called to explain the situation and make my appointment. I asked would I be having the surgery that day or another day she assured me that they could do the extraction the same day as the consultation and not to worry. Okay no problem, I took off three days of work, and planned on having the surgery at the scheduled appt. I wish I’d looked at more doctors. When I arrived no one introduced themselves to me, not even the dentist/oral surgeon. And the list goes on...1) the doctor didn’t seem prepared it was like he’d never seen my x rays before, likely because they were overbooked, my appt was at 2:30 the actual surgery started at 4. Bedside manner was nonexistent, they told me right before you have an x percent chance you will lose feeling in your jaw due to the placement of your nerve/tooth and then pretty much walked out2) I had to do this special cat scan before because of where my nerves/ wisdom tooth are which was $400, no one told me this was even a possibility despite the fact that I called 3x to make sure they got my X-rays from the other location because I knew that one or more of my wisdom teeth were on a main nerve due to the dental exam that led to the referral. During the calls before the visit they repeatedly told me there was nothing else I needed to prepare or make sure of etc.,3) they didn’t offer the the option of general anesthesia only stating “ do you want to do this today” after the whole you may lose feeling in your jaw convo. No one explained what the extraction would entail or gave a high level overview at all. We did local so I was awake the entire time and it was horrific. Only after when I said that was crazy did they say yeah most people choose to be sleeping. I would think the doctor or assistant would let you know “ hey this is what we are going to do, here are your options, should you you choose to do this today x,y,z” I’d already taken off work and was caught so off guard I just decided to go through with it, had the actual procedure been fully explained to me I most certainly would not have4) because I was awake the assistant had to brace me but didn’t tell me so she just started pushing down on my chest/neck when needed no “ I have to brace you, is it okay to put my hand on your chest/neck” this could be super triggering if you have any history of abuse at all5) the assistant heavy sighed through the entire procedure like she was annoyed and had somewhere else to be6) Afterwards, the assistant stressed that I needed to take pain medication prior to the numbness wearing off.... but didn’t even offer me a Tylenol so of course while waiting for my prescription to be filled the numbness started to wear offOverall the communication, bedside manner and interpersonal treatment were horrible and I hate that I have to return for a follow up appointment. The only two people in the office that made me feel like an actual human being were the male nurse who took my cat scan and Vevona( I’m so sorry I know I butchered that I was so overwhelmed and infuriated I didn’t remember your name properly).I left shaking, crying and overall traumatized. Just don’t.

I went to have multiple wisdom teeth pulled out. I was nervous at first but the doctors and staff made me comfortable with a major surgery. They did a great job and could not ask for a better team. Thank you 1st family dental with making the process as easy as possible!

From the girls at the front desk to the assistants and Doctors this office is the all time best!!!Dr. Ninos did a spectacular job on my difficult crowned Root canal. I was going to have to be referred over to a specialist...but Dr Ninos took care of it... Hes just that good. On top of that the staff is all so amazingly friendly. Thank you all for making this the best dental experience that I have ever had.

This was my first dental appointment since COVID19 pandemic. The office is taking great precautions to keep everyone safe. My dental hygienist was amazing and thorough. I tried to look at her name tag but I didn’t catch it before I left I know her name started with a “D”.Everything was great!

Beware!! These people are con-artists! I went there for simple dental cleaning, ask them whether my dental insurance will cover it. I was told it would. However, a month after I received a bill for $75, which I paid. I understand that sometimes insurance companies do not cover all of expenses. Anyways, 3 months after my visit, now I received another bill for an additional $40. On top of that, this dentist office also has the audacity to charge me late fees, even though I paid the first bill as soon as I received it. These people are thieves and will try to rob you as much as they can. Please stay away from them. There are many honest dentist offices in Chicago.

I chose this place based on reviews for a particular dentist and was assigned to someone else. One time the hygienist hurt my gums so bad I almost went in to have them examined. They have canceled my appointments last minute twice with no future appointments available for over a month or two. I have been quite disappointed with them. 3 at best.

Had a wonderful experience at 1st Family Dental. My 4 year old daughter and I prefer this office over others, simply because they treat us like family. Delana, our wonderful Dental Hygienist, is professional, kind hearted, and accommodating. She narrates her care throughout the course of the service - my kiddo (and I) just love her! The dentist can be an intimidating experience, particularly for children, but 1st Family Dental relives any concern the moment you walk in and are greeted with a smile.

The front staff and the dentist are very professional and well coming but my experience with the Hygienist Karina very Condescending. I ask her simple question, she answered “how many times we going to explain to you don’t understand”.

Absolute nightmare. I am a regular patient. I called sat when they are open with an emergency pain in an infected molar we knew needed to be pulled. Left message. No word. Called again monday to schedule appt. I told them i have extreme dental anxiety and needed nitrix. I was assured that the doctor provided this and we could do the surgery friday. I called friday am to see what precautions were needed with the gas prior. I was assurred the dentist could do this after an evaluation. They immediately called back and told me they no longer offer gas. I have been in pain with an infection for a week wasting time and much anxiety.. i am so angry in tears and in pain. They used to be a good office now they are a dental factory. And put me at risk.

I’ve been going to this location for a couple years now, and I have always been satisfied with the care I’ve received. Tonight... however.... I was absolutely blown away. Work kept me significantly later than usual, so I ended up having to call and inform the staff that I was going to be 10 minutes late. They were okay with it.... which kinda shocked me since I was in the latest time slot they offered for appointments. I showed up, was greeted by friendly, smiling staff, they checked me in instantly. I apologized for the lateness. We’ve all been there having to wait for the last patient. So I was already thankful for their willingness to stay a little late. The dental hygienist I was assigned, Delana, was the most picture perfect definition of professionalism and expertise I’ve experienced in a long long time. She was incredibly thorough, she didn’t rush, she talked with me, instructed me on better ways to care for my teeth and dental health, and not once came across as even remotely condescending, and I can honestly say my teeth have never felt cleaner. My first visit was warm and very professional, the medical assistant at front desk (sorry did not get a name), she provided me with all the information pertaining to my initial first visit which was very helpful and also answered all the questions I had before I even asked them. The Hygienist and Doctor were also very pleasant and made me very comfortable and explained what kind of work my teeth would need and what type of plan they had for me. All I all I was very happy and satisfied with 1st Family Dental.

(Normally I get an email prompt to review but I didnt this time, probably wound up in spam, so here I am reviewing somewhere)I had a really conscientious hygienist during my last visit here. The front desk staff were also super helpful in figuring out my insurance--I work for a new company that hasnt received cards yet but has everyones group number etc. The hygienist made sure I was comfortable and had set the channel on the TV(!) before starting, listened to my concerns and acted to make sure the dentist checked on them, and sent me home with some sample products appropriate to their suggestions. Plus it was fast, I was kept clean, and nothing was painful!

I had a nice experience at this dentist. This was my second visit, the environment was very clean and neat. I liked how the staff greeted me as I arrived. The orthodontist on site was very nice and informative about dental work. Job well done.

I went to 1st Family Dental of Andersonville to get a tooth pulled. The dentist noticed I was a nervous patient and really took his time with me, he explained step by step what he was doing, gave me time to rest, and was extraordinary compassionate. It is definitely a 5 star facility! I came in here with a terrible tooth pain, and they figured that my wisdom tooth needs to be removed. Everything was outstanding during my visit. They scheduled the appointment for me the same day and took my tooth out right away. Dr.Velano did a great job, I didn’t feel a thing. He is a former military dentist, so he is a very experienced and knowledgeable professional. Moreover, dental assistants were professional and sweet beyond every expectation. I was a little bit worried about the extraction, but they were there for me during the whole time, supporting and calming me down. Couple days later I started having problems with my tooth again, so the clinic just took me in within an hour and did a great job again, cleaning out my gum. Even billing department positively surprised me. They gave me a discount, since I was paying out of pocket. I definitely recommend this place to everyone, and from now on, this is going to be my regular dental facility. Thank you so much, guys!

It was a wonderful experience. My oral hygienist Rachel was outstanding in examining and cleaning my teeth. My teeth have never been as clean and bright. My dentist was a rock star in fixing my filling. Not only was he deft in his skills and care but also suave and humorous which made the visit extremely pleasant. I went home excited telling my husband that Ive found a trustworthy and clean dental clinic near our home. Definitely recommend!

Im speechless..I had my 4th root canal yesterday with Dr. A.When I awoke this morning something about me had dramatically changed. I couldnt figure out what. Then it dawned on me: MY TINNITUS IS COMPLETELY GONE!!!The world is quiet.I can now hear the littlest sounds: The clock ticking, the cars driving past, the cat purring. This is crazy.I looked up root canal infection and tinnitus, and there was my answer.Tinnitus can be caused by a tooth infection.The pain before the root canal had spread outward and down my neck.I had daily short bursts of the chills, as though I had a virus. I would often feel massive heat coming from my sinuses.Its all gone.How can infected tooth symptoms be cured in 24 hours? That just seems impossible. Even the swollen, painful, glands on my neck are back to normal....well I guess Im not TOTALLY speechless after all!🤣👍🤗Thanks to everyone at 1st Family Dental for always getting me in super fast and curing me of more symptoms that any doctor ever has.

Just had my semi-annual exam at 1st Family. They took me on time, my dental technician concentrated on my teeth, the exam and cleaning were quick and efficient, the dentist was knowledgeable and efficient and easy to talk to. They answered my questions, and, at my request, they provided a report for up-coming surgery. I have been to 1st Family several times since I moved to Chicago and have been very happy with them.I felt like I was well-treated, my problem was discussed with me and quickly resolved to my satisfaction. I appreciated that Dr. Awraham listened to me, answered my questions, and paid careful attention to the job at hand. His assistant also did an excellent job in discussion and preparation for me.

Had an unexpected problem, and 1st Family was able to get me in the same day. Dentist could have said I needed a whole new bridge, but instead just smoothed down the problem area.

Really nice people. I got in and out quickly. Going to the dentist is not my favorite thing to do but they make it a pleasant experience.

I arrived early and was able to be seen early, which I love! I was out in 30 min. The hygienist explained everything that was going on in my mouth and offered advice that was really helpful. The Dr. was fast and friendly in sharing necessary info and checking my teeth. LOVE that the chair also is a light massage chair. Plus, Mulan was on in the waiting room - whats not to love!?

I feel very fortunate to have randomly selected this practice- I hadnt been to the dentist in a long time, and as a result, my teeth are not in great shape, but Dr Ahmed and the staff took the time to explain exactly which procedures I would need and exactly how much it would cost me, and helped me build a plan that would allow me to get all the work I needed done without breaking the bank or emotionally scarring me. Dr. Ahmed was very kind and understanding, even when I acted like a huge ridiculous baby while she took care of my worst cavity. Im honestly looking forward to my next visits to finish all my dental work. Ive only been once, but unless theres a huge, drastic shift in everyones attitude between now and my next visit, I think Ill be a life-time patient of Dr. Ahmeds!

This is an amazing dentist. They do a great job. It was my 1st in Chicago and they took great care of me. I loved being able to go somewhere in the neihborhood and they were def a good choice. I would recommend them for general cleaning (I do not have experience with the other services but they are prob great).

Dr. Aboud has the best Dental Offices EVER!!!1st Family Dental did an excellent job on the work I needed done. They are so nice and very prosfessional and great at what they do. The waiting time and the service was excellent everything was so perfect. I highly recommend 1st Family Dental to anyone in need of dental work. It really doesnt matter how small or how big the dental work needed thats where you should go to have it done. The Doctors, Dental Assistants and staff are truly amazing people and very kind in all aspects from the second you walk into the Dental office. Thank you guys so much !!!!!!!!!

Professional and friendly staff. Clean and neat office. Karina was very sweet and did a great job with my cleaning. Dr. Ninos is awesome and always provides the absolute best care.

Excellent service from the time I arrived to the office to the time the Sevice was complete,all staff did great job , Easy check In ,waiting time was very short the dentist was really quick and the dentist assistance did excellent job and very nice person .
