My fiancé was in a the rehab for two weeks. He would have been better off at home. His meals were always cold and was lucky to get a beverage he asked for.Nurses took forever to address his problems. He was not allowed out of bed without assistance and many times he laid in his urine and feces. The rehab personnel were ok but was limited to what they could do.I realize everyone is short staffed but these issues should never happen.Would not recommend this facility to anyone.

I would give this place a negative zero if possible. Nasty dirty and unclean. The facility operated consistently with staff shortages. Nurses aids were taking care of patients instead of CNAs. No management on duty most times. My mom was admitted Friday night and removed by Monday morning. I would not send a dead dog here. A man died while my mom was there because the lousy CNA didnt call 911. They need to be shut down yesterday. The reviews given are lies. The patients are fed slop fit for animals. This place is a complete nightmare.

I couldn’t say enough nice things about The Westchester House! Both of my parents came here after a bad experience in a different facility. The staff was so nice and friendly. If I could give a zero star, I would. Some of the staff are an embarrassment to the health profession. I removed my mother after 4 days. I moved her to another facility. Please believe me! This place should not be open. Examples: The techs arguing in the hall and patients room in front of me, using a bed pad on my mother from an isolation room, not answering the telephone (I let the phone ring for 20 minutes then hung up), the smell was horrible, and loud music heard from the foyer entrance (the employees playing music while working). This place terrified and terifies me. Be sure to do your homework before sending a loved one to this facility.Follow up; I will not be calling to discuss further. I have reported my concerns to the state.

Hes very depressed and unhappy with the facility and we keep getting told theyre shorthanded. The night nurse decided to also leave him for over 2 hours after he asked to get on the toilet and he wasnt put to bed until 10pm. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE! Were moving him at all cost so he doesnt lose his will to continue working on his therapy.

We were able to stay with mom every moment of the last few days of her life. Staff was friendly and understanding and made us as comfortable as they could. My mother is being transferred from Mercy Hospital to Westchester House this afternoon. It has been a long, difficult process to get the Hospital Case Managers and Doctors on the same page to get approval, but we have endured. Vicki Lancaster, with Westchester House, met Mom last Wednesday and made Mom feel so comfortable and excited for Rehab. I cannot thank Vicki enough for going the extra mile and being patient while the hospital and insurance processed the authorization. She hung with us the entire time and kept me appraised of Moms status. We are so excited to see how fast Mom gets home where she belongs.

The staff at Westchester House were all professional and excellent to work with starting with Zack, the Administrator, Lori in Nursing, and Witney from Social Services. Each area that I needed assistance with was addressed immediately, professionally, and all taken care of. When I came in, I was in pretty bad shape, I needed help in PT, OT, and ST. The entire staff and including all therapy staff worked with me daily to accomplish my needed goals. Speech therapy really challenged my mind, it was always very interesting, and it showed my progress from low scores in the beginning to high scores at my discharge. I had all the necessary assessments weekly. My progress notes showed that I made great progress. There was always something to do at Westchester House in activities. Activities were fun from bingo to bowling, prayer services that I attended. It was all so organized. I could tell how hard Deanna worked daily to keep her department fun, flowing, and fantastic. The nursing staff was also super and very, very, very, professional. They all seemed happy and pleased to do their jobs. The housekeeping staff did a super job. The place was clean, always smelled fresh, and always had a wonderful smell. I would rate the dietary department 10 out of 10. I would always receive a wide array of options. In the time that Ive been here, I was weighed every week. I would highly recommend this place to others for short-term rehab needs. The therapy departments are superb! I was lucky enough to have my clothes cleaned by the laundry department in an efficient and professional way. They picked my laundry up one day and it was returned to me the next day.

This Nursing Home needs to do a better job of understanding Hospice Care and the entire process of Comfort Care at End of Life. They have no idea what Comfort Care is or how to treat the family when their loved one is close to the end of life. They wont even give her the meds so she can just be comfortable. Nurse Linda, the Evening Nurse is the worst Nurse Ive ever had the chance to deal with. Apparently, I had an attitude when I interrupted her to ask about my Mothers meds. She was too busy putting mayonnaise on a sandwich. If your loved one needs to have Hospice Care, DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE!

The head nurse Lisa is incredibly rude. She hung up on me when asking about my grandmother. There is no reason to be this rude. They should be ashamed of the way they treat their residents and their families. Completely unacceptable. It breaks my heart knowing my grandmother has lived 87 almost 88 years on this earth to be treated this way. Its sad that people can make a paycheck doing the unacceptable things they do.

Several months ago my Mom had some medical issues and in the process she fell and broke her leg in two places. After a long stay in the hospital she needed a place to rehabilitate the leg. I toured multiple facilities for multiple days. All visits/tours were unannounced and without appointments. I chose Westchester House for Mom’s rehab facility and she was placed on hall 500. The place was clean and well taken care of. My Mom was thrilled one day to tell me how she couldn’t believe it but the facility staff went around cleaning baseboards. Then on another day they were shampooing the carpet. The staff including nurses, aides and physical therapist was all fantastic. They were attentive & patient with my Mom along with being empathetic, positive and motivating. Unfortunately it was determined that after living with my Hubby and I for 7 years that Mom would now need 24/7 around the clock care and would not be able to come back home. Having toured so many facilities looking for a rehab facility I knew without question we would just move Mom to Westchester House for long term care. Mom was not happy to find out she couldn’t come back home. She wouldn’t even try to like it. She wouldn’t go to any of the activities or try to make friends. It took her a few weeks to adjust but she did with the help of the social worker and the staff in long term care. One of the things they did was assign her a new roommate. They believed introducing the two ladies would be beneficial to the both. They were correct. It worked!! The ladies have built a wonderful friendship. Mom loves living there now and has now admitted she realizes how she needs the around the clock care. There are times when my siblings or myself are there visiting Mom and she boots us out so she can go to an activity. One of the cool things about here is they have their own driver and van which means they transport Mom to & from her doctor appointments and do activities off facility site. They are one of the few facilities that do that. The staff on the long term care hall (400) is just as pleasant as the rehab hall. They are a large part of why my Mom adjusted to living in a facility and not at home with us. I would like to make special mention of some of my Mom & our family’s favorite staff who always go above & beyond: Nurses- Ashley, Jasmine & Kanecha. Aides- Dorothy & Marvin (aka My Mom’s giant teddy bear). Driver-Tom. Social Worker-Sarah.

My paternal grandfather spent his last days at WH when facility had just opened in 1980s. At the time, my aunts were thrilled to find a place like WH.More recently, both my parents have been 2x in the rehab wing, with positive results each visit, thanks to caring and conscientious employees. Most lately— and notably—my mom’s rehab for tibia fracture was cut short by careless clerical error on the part of her insurer. Our family was shaken by sudden turn of events. However, Laurie, admissions director, dedicated much time, effort and follow-up to see that necessary correction was made— enduring much bureaucracy. Seems recent hurricane shut down service-processing facility in Florida when fix was needed fast.Due to such professionalism and kindness, Mom received Medicare therapy she was entitled and so clearly needed.Ashley, Sherla, La Mesha, Sarah, and so many other PTs, nurses, PAs, and Mercy doctors affiliated with Westchester House deserve our commendation and thanks.
