This was my 4th follow up visit after a biopsy was taken from my ear. At my visit the PA looked at it and said she did not know what to do about it. She said it was infected and I said the sore was spreading. She did not put me on oral antibiotics or suggest what to do. She was going to bring my case up on their weekly Thursday staff meeting. Im just grateful my appointment was on a Wednesday and if not I would have had to wait a week with no instructions.I was told at my previous visit to mix a steroid and an antibiotic ointment and put it on twice a day. The picture was taken 2 days before my appointment.

The visit was for my teenage daughter and Stephanie was great. She was not at all dismissive, but instead checked her skin, worked to de-clog her pores DURING THE VISIT and provided a plan of action/follow up over the next 3 weeks.

Stephanie Bui is my primary dermatologist , and there simply aren’t words to describe how amazing she is at every task. Her ability to prescribe the perfect regimen of medications to treat every condition I’ve had, as well as my husband is impressive. Her rapport with clients goes above and beyond what you could ever wish for. She takes every concern seriously, and follows through to eliminate concerns for good. In over two years, I haven’t been able to have an issue she could not resolve. Today I was able to get in even though my appointment wasn’t until next week. I had a medical procedure coming up, and they were able to accommodate me last minute. Really, need I say more? Get to Tru Skin as fast as you can.

A while back, I got charged $170 for a bill they didnt bother to friggin tell me about. Wouldve given a 1 star but the doctor was real nice. Plus gave me a shot to fix up my biopsy scar for free.

Justine referred me, And I went into see Dr. Khan and Stephanie the physician assistant. The staff was very warm and friendly they made me feel very welcomed and comfortable, Dr. Khan and Stephanie were very thorough, Skilled in what they do and very professional. Facilities are clean, well lit. Stephanie did a great job at making me feel comfortable while she accurately located and treated all of my pre-cancerous spots and skin issues. Her joy and energy to help folks with their skin issues made one forget of the sting of the treatment. There was no soreness the following day. I highly recommend this place!

Stephanie Bui Catuogno, PA-C is exceptional! I have extremely sensitive skin and when I was first seen by Stephanie for acne a few years ago she prescribed the best acne medication for my skin which got rid of my persistent acne and improved my skin texture! Prior to seeing her I had been seeing a doctor at a well know dermatology practice and never saw results with their treatment. I recently started to have bad rosacea during the pandemic and thought it was sudden allergic reactions to the sun but Stephanie quickly concluded it was rosacea and prescribed top of the line rosacea creams while making sure she found a pharmacy that was affordable and even got it delivered to my house which is so convenient! I always have the best experience when I get seen by Stephanie and recently took my mom who was visiting from out of state to get send for dark spots on her face which she has been battling for years. Stephanie worked her magic once more and my mom’s dark spots started to lighten up as soon as she started her treatment! Thank you Stephanie for giving back our confidence!

I took my 14 yr old son in for what looked liked an infected and inflamed blackhead and possible keratosis. We saw Stephanie Bui-Catuogno who is their PA and she was wonderful! She gave my son good advice on how to care for his skin and helped him with the inflamed blackhead he was experiencing. She explained how she was going to treat the inflamed problem area and showed him how to apply cream at home for his Keratosis and how to care for the blackhead she treated! This was his first experience at a dermatologist and he said Stephanie was great and the Assistant that helped in the room was also very nice! HAIR LOSS/MELASMA: I was referred to Carlos Gavino by my dermatologist for hair loss . . As a women my hair is a lot of who I am and loosing my hair affected me emotionally. 1yr earlier I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss (supposedly irreversible) , but before going to dr Gavino I cried when I looked in the mirror and cld see the crown of my scalp.at my 1st appt. with Dr. Gavino he made me feel at ease, he said we will get your hair to grow back.he asked me questions about my routine of hair care, I told him that after I washed my hair it wld fall out in clumps, so I told him I started washing my hair only 1-2x wkly and then I wld add dark hair fibers to my scalp to “try” and hide the balding. He said this fiber was causing my scalp to inflame and caused more hair loss . So for 6 mths I did as he said and daily I drank my meds he prescribed and used a topical solution. I also used a wide cloth head band to hide the bald spots . yesterday I went into my appt it had been 6 mths from the 1st appt. as I sat in the room waiting with anticipation in walksin Dr. Gavino and a smile that just automatically calms you and lifts you as well. he asked how is I everything working ? I said “I think” it’s working . So he takes a picture, and he pulled up my 1st appt pictures and we looked at them side by side I gave him a hug automatically, and with tears in my eyes I realized My hair had started to grow again, and the baseball size bald spot was almost filled in completely. I’m forever grateful to him, and I pray that many more women who are suffering from hair loss go to him.And for the melasma , he’s also started me on meds, yesterday so now I’m so excited, bc I know this too will get better.

I tend to ask a lot of questions but she was very thorough and listened to all my concerns. In particular, there was a mole-like bump on my face I wanted her to look at. I have struggled with acne and acne scarring for many years now and was recommended a treatment called TCA Cross chemical peel to help with my ice pick and box car scarring. Dr. Stephanie is extremely knowledgable and took the time to explain and answer any questions I had about the TCA Cross chemical peel. Stephanie and her assistant, Justine, were very professional, precise, and made me feel reassured throughout the treatment. She made the trip from Houston to Austin for this dermatology visit definitely worth it and I will continue to drive the miles for her care. She is by far the best dermatologist out of all I’ve visited and actually understands how to treat my Asian skin unlike the other dermatologists I’ve visited. I cannot recommend Stephanie enough!

Stephanie Bui Catuogno is by far the best dermatologist I have ever seen. She spends time with you, explains everything in detail, and gives you a voice in determining your treatment plan (so rare these days!). In the past other dermatologists wanted to prescribe Accutane on my first visit without trying any topicals or alternative medications, and I was not on board with that. Stephanie came up with a simple routine that cured my acne PLUS reduced my chicken pox and acne scars, smoothed out my skins texture, and brightened my complexion -- all without Accutane. I was also extremely impressed that she was familiar with my rare connective tissue disorder and how it affects my acne. I dont think any other doctor has told me something about my condition that I didnt already know! All in all, Stephanie is an absolute gem and Tru-Skin is incredibly lucky to have her as a provider!

Dr. Gavino is just great! He helped solve an issue for me that Ive been to multiple dermatologists over many years. Well its not resolved. But the progress has been remarkable. Otherwise, the staff is excellent also. My only issue was with the billing. I was always a bit confused with that part. But it always got resolved with a phone. Nothing to worry about. I had a very good experience at Tru Skin. In and out within 15 minutes. The doctor diagnosed my problem, prescribed a cream that got rid of my eczema rash and took a biopsy to determine what caused it. Thank you.

Incompetent.

DO NOT GO HERE. I’ve had bad experiences in the past with doctors offices so I am extra careful now making sure I know exactly what is being done and what my patient responsibility is financially. Every time I came here, I made sure to ask EVERY TIME exactly what was being done and what my financial responsibility was. Before getting a biopsy done, I made it clear that I didn’t want to do it unless I knew exactly how much it would cost me. I was told my portion based off my insurance was $181.40, which I confirmed with my insurance. I got the procedure done and not only could the doctor still not figure out what was wrong with me, a month later I started getting bills sent to my house. Never had anyone call me telling me I owed money and why, just sending threatening bills to my house. When I called to talk to a billing representative, they told me that like I should have been explained (which I never was) they can’t control what tests the lab decides to run and since they ran a bunch of additional tests (which I never consented to), that’s why I owed an ADDITIONAL $400 (on top of the $181 I already paid). When explained that this was exactly what I tried to prevent and that I did not give my consent for those additional tests, they told me I signed a document agreeing to this. Now this really made me mad. The only signatures I gave to this office was to a digital signature pad with no screen or paper in front of me because I was told I was signing for my receipt. Who knows what they actually had me sign for. At the end of the day not only did they do wrong, but even after they got caught and I called them out for doing wrong, they didn’t care and still said I can pay the bill or be sent to collections. I hate the fact that this can affect my credit, but I absolutely refuse to pay anything additional. Places like this make me sick to my stomach and what they do should be illegal and they should be shut down.On top of all of the frustration and problems this place has caused me, I still have no idea what is wrong with me clinically. Whatever it is I can only hope it’s nothing serious because sadly I’d rather have a serious skin disease than to have to go through an ordeal like this ever again**UPDATE** They have in fact sent me to collections for charges they never explained to me and I never consented to. I now have debt collectors calling me 2-3 times a day. And now I have to decide if I want to stick to my principals and what’s right, or risk it affecting my credit for the rest of my adult life
