Im still recovering from surgery- I was referred to Dr. Milan Shah by my optometrist because I was diagnosed with a torn retina. The office staff got me in to see Dr. Shah 48 hours later, and by then my retina was detached. Dr. Shah cleared his afternoon appointments, stayed late (after hours) and his staff got me scheduled for emergency surgery that evening to repair my eye. His staff was very caring, and if youll pardon the pun, they were very focused on fixing my eyesight. Dr. Shah has treated me with dignity and respect, and with great care. Ive had 2 post-op appointments that went well, and no matter which location Dr. Shah is at, his staff goes with him so I get to see the same people. Dr. Shah is a very competent and caring doctor, and Im so glad he performed my surgery. My sincere thanks to Dr. Shah and his wonderful staff.

The doctor Finnen definitely made me feel stupid, small minded and was appalled when I asked questions. This isn’t my field of study, I was not questioning him but just seeking answers. Would not recommend. It’s not worth making a patient cry.

The doctors are good at what the do. I have had excellent care. However, my one complaint is those that do the scheduling. I had my preliminary exam. Had my eye dilated and then I sat for 1 hour and 15 minutes waiting to see the doctor. I am angry almost every time that I come here. I appropriated a driver to bring me. I tell them a couple of hours. It is ending up to be 3 hours or more. If I had operated my business like that I wouldnt have any customers.

Wait time is ridiculously long for appointments. Don’t expect to be see until at least an hour past your scheduled appointment time. First time I waited over 3 hours for my appointment. Second time was close to 2 hours for a 5 minute recheck. Technicians were great and fast with initial exam, but you’re bounced from waiting room to waiting room while waiting for the doctor. Care was adequate. I felt that the doctor was a little condescending when explaining things to me, even after he knew I worked in health care and had a good base of knowledge on what was going on. I was referred to this clinic after a routine health exam by my primary optometrist found a hole in my retina. I don’t plan on returning to this clinic. I understand that every health facility is busy during this times and waits can be long, but it is up to the clinic’s responsibility to factor this in and schedule appointment times longer for each patient or space them more adequately.

I am on my 3rd hour of waiting to see the Dr...Id leave, but my elderly friend is the patient. The waiting rooms are packed full so I seat my friend and stand leaning against the wall being conscious not tobe in anyones way. Suddenly, this woman rushed me and barked I need to follow her to a seat in another waiting room although they were standing room only..I expressed concern about my friend not knowing where I went. Who would lead my visionally impaired friend to the exam room. Etc..Weve been waiting, waiting and waiting...now 3 1/2 hours. Why do they schedule appts every 10 minutes? Because while they herd the patients from packed waiting room to packed waiting room, they are getting RICH...PATIENTS ARE DOLLAR SIGNS, IF THEY CARED THEY WOULD NOT SCHEDULE THE IMPOSSIBLE, not caring that the patient waits for 2-4 or more hours. During my wait I realized that they still have the same furnishings that they had over 10 years ago. Then it occurred to me that, during this very long wait, NOT ONCE DID I SEE ANY SANITIZING GOING ON..Not once did anyone even sanitize chairs! So not only is the upholstered furniture old , it is a germ fest. I understand the Drs are good, but surely there are other great Drs who genuinely care about their patients, providing a comfortable, clean and updated waiting room. Proper scheduling, no patient should have to wait 2 hours, or all day like we did. Sadly, we will have to go back...you see patients are loyal to this shameful office. Sad.

Today I had my third check up. I had to wait over four hours. They should have called me to reschedule. It was my husbands birthday today and he had to wait for me. I would have been happier coming in a different time so that we could have the day together which is rare.If they have so many emergencies they should not have patients wait four hours for a five minute check up. I would have been glad to have rescheduled. That was inconsiderate. Others were getting irritated and threatening the girls up front. You need a new system. I did like my doctor and I am grateful for his good work with my eye. You should be more organized and prioritize better. Not enough sitting space either.

Our 6 year old son has 4th nerve palsy in his right eye. Dr. Sprunger operated on him for eye muscle surgery in December of 2020. We couldnt be happier with the results. No more head tilt and he is using both eyes together. Admittedly, we were a bit nervous to do the eye surgery and tried vision therapy and even went to a neuro-opthamologist. We continued to hear excellent things about Dr. Sprunger so we decided to go with the surgery. Our son was pretty much back to his normal self within hours of surgery. The staff is friendly and we have had very pleasant experiences. Thank you Dr. Sprunger and staff for your patience and giving our boy the best possible outcome. ❤

They do not tell you they will be running an hour late. They do not have enough chairs for patients. They do not tell you that your appt will last 90 minutes because they can’t get their act together. They do not tell you that you need to come alone and your life partner is not allowed in the patient room and then kick them all out of the waiting room. They discriminate against people who CAN NOT wear masks! They are rude. They are not sanitizing chairs after multiple people set in them. They are not sanitizing clip boards or pens they hand to multiple patients. They are picking and choosing what to enforce. They need better support staff!!! If you can get past the snotty little girls at the desk the doctors might be worth it.

Have seen a couple of doctors at other Institutes but didn’t receive as good care as MEI. The doctors and staff are top notch. Of course wait times can be a little long, but that’s what happens when everyone wants to go there! (And since the pandemic scare, wait times are lower.) They are the best!

Okay I want to be clear about my experience, The woman that was supposed to call me with my appointment failed to dial the correct number and left someone else with my information I needed.I speak with management about the issue and patronizes me because shes been working there for 16 years and can do no wrong. The attitude I got from these women was awful and unprofessional to say the least, they were no help what so ever as you may know or read the comments wait times are long, very long and I had to wait even longer thanks to these 2.

Very efficient, kind and pleasant experience for us. From the registration desk, to the prep and our doctor, as well as recovery, we were well taken care of. Yes, there are wait times, but they provide you with coffee, TV, crossword puzzles, etc...the waiting room is spacious and comfortable. You have to think about all the areas this one place is trying to serve and I think youll realize they do an amazing job if you think about it. We are from Bloomington and its a long, stressful drive, but we are thankful to have a specialist to go to with this level of care. 5 stars...well earned.

However, I have to wait in a waiting area for over two hours past my appointment time. People are always waiting at least that long. A woman next to me stated she had been waiting 3 1/2 hours. We used the pediatric department. Its impossible to get a hold of them on the phone and near impossible to get them to call you back. It seems like they need more help because the place is always packed. When we ordered glasses and we picked them up, we realized they were the wrong ones after we got home and had to make another trip back to get the correct ones. The doctors are great though and they have a great selection of glasses for kids.

Waited months for an appointment to find out 35 minutes after we were scheduled to be there that the appointment was supposed to take 3 hours. We couldnt even stay do to other obligations that could not be moved. We waited about 3 months for this appointment, and they didnt see a need to tell us the appointment would take this long? I would have never scheduled an appointment in the afternoon 30 minutes from where I live when we have other children who have to be picked up from school less than 3 hours from the appointment time if I had known it would have taken that long.Truthfully I dont know if I should put this complaint here or on a review for IU Riley since that is who handles their pediatric. This is so typical of Riley doctors offices, most have no consideration for their patients time. I am finding out from others that it is no better with the adult side.IU needs to get off their high horse and realize they are not that good and the office time is definitely no more important then than that of the patient/families time. We are expected to be on time, with the small window of course, why should we not expect the same from our physicians?

My wait times werent bad, but Dr. Finnen didnt explain anything to me. I was told if I have any vision changes to contact my regular opthalmologist. I get my paperwork on my way out and it talks about myopic degeneration and RPE changes which were never mentioned to me.Additionally, I was told I needed to get a self test to be performed at home daily, but one wasnt provided one. The receptionist said she wasnt notified about it and couldnt provide me with one. When I was leaving, about 9 am, the waiting room were packed. Like standing room only. My appointment was 730 am, so you should probably try and go as early as possible.

I take my almost 3 year old son here and have since before he was one year old. He sees Dr. Donaldson. She is an ok doctor, from what we can tell. She isnt as good as the doctor we had when we lived in Nashville, TN and were able to take him to Vanderbilt Eye Institute, but she is what we have to work with. It is almost impossible to get through to their appointment people and it has taken me almost 3 months of calling to get my son his bi-annual appointment scheduled. The people who make the appointments are always abrupt and almost rude and you can never get an appointment any sooner then a month/+. We never get seen at our appointment time because they are generally about a half an hour behind. The good part is that she is a pediatric ophthalmologist and there are only three dedicated pediatric eye doctors offices in the city. The office has a nice play area for the kids and they have one of only two pediatric optometrist stores in the city. It is also nice that they have an office in greenwood and that the optometrist is right there in their office, that way Im not driving all over town.

Have taken my sister-in-law there for two different eye procedures. Sometimes the wait is about an hour, but mostly get in around 45min after appointment time. I agree a persons time is just as important as the doctors time so the staff should get patients in within 15min of appointment. They have been great up til now. Have been trying to gat an answer on another problem with sis in laws eyes for almost a month. Am told the doctors will consult on it and call us. Same story every week. Getting disappointed, discouraged, disillusioned. All the dis es.Well, I was sent an email to contact the office manager at Midwest Eye. Did so and was made an appointment the next day. Took us back very soon and got to the bottom of the sis in laws problem. Sometimes they just need a reminder. They see so many people sometimes someone may fall through th e cracks, but they ( at Midwest) were right on it. Thanks.
