The absence of quality, professionalism, and guidance that Dr. Alex Balaban possesses are greatly beyond an understatement. My agonizing journey with Dr. Balaban began when he reassured me that he could straighten a minor cosmetic fix with braces. Unfortunately, this was the greatest regret of my life. The first day that the braces were installed, several of the brackets fell off. In fact, nearly every week the brackets broke and fell off. A supposedly 10-month treatment lasted for over 4 years, and out of that time, Dr. Balaban had to install the braces twice after recognizing the inadequate quality in his own performance. Under his supervision, I went through unimaginable pain and suffering - a trauma that still lasts to this day. After he took off the second set of braces, another problem transpired - the retainer. An item that is supposed to last someone forever lasted me only weeks. Regularly, my retainers broke and I was tortured with new impressions and was left without any retainer at all for weeks at a time. Once this doctor saw that he was incapable of such work and that there was nothing else for him to experiment on me with, he forgot about me and kicked me out of his practice. However, while all of this agony was happening, the charges kept piling up and were never disclosed. The worst is yet to come. Out of the four years that I was under his treatment for a promised 10-month fix, it is not even the time or the amount of money that I had put in with him that upsets me the most. It is what his services resulted in. As a result of Dr. Balabans work, I suffer from a cracking jaw every single time that I eat or open my mouth - something that was never a problem before he became my dentist. In my opinion, he is a liar, a thief, and a fraud. Yet, after all of this pain that I had experienced, he had the audacity to tell me that I needed 3 cavities filled immediately. I was in shock because I know that I brush and floss my teeth twice a day. Luckily, I went to a different dentist for a second opinion to see if those cavities were there. However, what came next was not just a feeling of true deception and betrayal, but a feeling of hopelessness because there were no cavities found in the spots where Dr. Alex Balaban so urgently wanted to fix. A dentist is someone that you can trust and go to with your problems. Unfortunately, Dr. Balaban is not that kind of individual. To all who read this review, please be remarkably careful of this person, and if it were me, I would just choose someone else. Thank you for reading and do not make the same mistake as I did.

Our whole family has been seeing Dr. Balaban for 14 years. We have received fabulous dental care. Dr. Balaban is patient with anxious kids. He also explains any dental issues in great detail and works well in tandem with our orthodontist. Office staff is kind, responsive and personable. We’ve always had a positive experience and are treated like family when we are there!

Alex laid out a plan of reconstruction that gave me back a happy smile. Gentle skilled hands, painless dentistry, and he didnt break the bank. I have had implants, lumineers, crowns and root canals. In fact, we just drove up 1100 miles from Florida to come to Alex for a major repair. I would not trust anyone else to be my Dentist.

Dr.Balaban and his staff are absolutely amazing! They did fillings on our 6 and 5 year old in 5 minutes and there was no need for sedation. The boys didn’t feel a thing and it was such a refreshing and wonderful experience. He is great with kids! Previous dental offices we consulted prior to finding Smile Arts Dental were planning full on anesthesia for something that was done so easily and quickly and didn’t need any numbing at all. A friend told me to go here because she has anxiety about going to the dentist as well. I had some very bad experiences in the past. When I called, the secretary was so sweet when I told her that I hadn’t been to the dentist in a long time. Dr Balaban has a very calming nature and made me feel more comfortable. They also don’t pressure you into doing things and understand that finances come into play as well. So glad I came and I will be coming every 6 months like I’m supposed to now!

I highly recommend Dr Balaban, I did teeth clean and wisdom teeth extraction here, the stuff here is nice and patience, I took 3 wisdom teeth at one time and it costs me $225 for each, after insurance, I only paid $ 55 for each!! Amazing! I have a friend in New York and she spent thousand on for 1 teeth extraction! I would recommend more friends to come here.

I used to hate dentist’s appointments, I hated that feeling right before the appointment, that’s how it was since my childhood, until I visited “Smile Arts Dental”. Dr. Balaban has changed my opinion about dental care. Certainly, no one could make a dentist’s appointment a very pleasant experience, however, when I go to “Smile Arts Dental” I don’t have that bad feeling anymore. I have been a patient of Dr. Balaban for many years. He is a perfectionist in his field and he ensures that the procedure is done exactly right. He does great work and doesn’t look for ways to charge more. The patient’s interest is always the highest priority for him. Also, I am very pleased with their work schedule, they are open on Monday until 7pm, and ready to serve you on Saturday. “Smile Arts Dental” provides great service and care from the front desk to the doctor and the staff. I absolutely hated and dreaded going to the dentist growing up. I started going to Dr. Balaban in 2007 and after my first cleaning I was able to relax about going to the dentist and cleanings. A few years later I started getting my first cavities ever and Dr. Balaban made sure to get these taken care of right away! He made sure that I was comfortable, and felt nothing during the fillings. One time when I mentioned that I hated my smile Dr. Balaban went above and beyond trying to help me find the right smile for me. When we started talking prices of this new smile he understood that it would not be happening anytime soon.Fast forward to 2018 I end up chipping both of my front teeth really badly that it was not pretty at all. They were chipped jagged and completely in half. I called and Linda the receptionist answered and was able to get me in immediately to get them fixed. We ended up filling the teeth to look like teeth again. Because I have extremely brittle teeth and I end up cracking them again at least a couple times. Dr. Balaban and Linda worked with me and my insurance to try and get them fixed as crowns to be a more permanent fix before anything extreme happened and I had no front teeth any longer.After a year and a half of fighting and being denied with several different insurance companies to pay for my crowns due to them thinking it was all needed for cosmetic reasons. Dr. Balaban, Linda and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to help fight the insurance companies for me so I would not have to pay as much. They would resubmit claim after claim with additional information every time on why I needed this done. Insurance ended up not paying any of it and I went ahead and had my front 4 teeth done as crowns. Once again I was at 100% ease with this place doing my teeth. I trusted all of them to do a good job. When I went back today to get my permanent crowns put in on I was over the top satisfied with them. The whole appointment went really fast because Dr. Balaban didn’t even have to do anything the crowns fit and looked that good! I absolutely love the look of them. For the first time ever I can’t stop smiling! They feel like glass they are so smooth. Every single person has told me there is no way these are my new teeth because they look amazing and 100% real. I can’t stop smiling now and can’t wait to show them off!Thank you Dr. Balaban, Linda and the Smily Arts team! You all are the best and do a great job going above and beyond for all your patients to have the best smile and oral health possible. I dislike going to the dentist. And, it has cost me dearly for delaying it. Dr. Balaban has educated me on good dental care, as it especially applies to a diabetic. His staff is more than friendly, and they know you and your family well. But, I still hate going to the dentist. He just makes it more tolerable.
