Dr. Perlmutter is an excellent ophthalmologist. He takes his time explaining the issues you have, the options and what to expect. He is extremely knowledgeable and has incredible bed side manners. You are never rushed and he takes his time and answers any and all questions or issues you may have. What amazed me the most is that he personally calls his patients the evening of surgery to make sure everything is going well and to see if you have any concerns. I would definitely recommend him!

I was referred to this practice by another Dr who saw my problem and felt I needed additional support with it. I waited an hour and a half to see Dr David Perlmutter and it seemed he didn’t want to give me the time of day. He said that “I was fine” and didn’t want to acknowledge the other Dr’s observation. But of course if it continues to call back. Also the waiting room is dirty- visible dust caked onto the chairs.. not something you want to see during a pandemic. It’s too bad because the staff otherwise is absolutely wonderful.

This has been a remarkable experience. I make my living as a writer and pretty much everything I do concerns my visual acuity. Ive been wearing glasses for the past 25 years and was told last year that I had cataracts in both eyes. I decided to have the surgery and am extremely glad I did. It was quick, painless and everyone working with Dr Perlmutter was extremely kind and caring. And as for Dr. Perlmutter himself, I cant praise him enough. Not only is he a highly skilled surgeon, he cares about every one of his patients and calls them the same day as they have had their surgery to see how theyre doing. I find the whole process somewhat miraculous, and if youre thinking about cataract surgery, dont just think about it: do it.

The first time i went 3 days with a piece of metal in my eye because URGENT CARE IN GLENMONT said i have to wait until monday. this is on a friday I call there they got me in right away that monday after talking to the doctor he said URGENT CARE cause more damage then the mental did. He got it out and told me next time this happen call him NO Hospital/NO URGENT CARE that was 2 month ago. Well it happen again on saturday 1:30 in the afternoon. I call him like he told me to told me to meet him at the office in 30 min. He got the mental out some drops for 3-4 days 4 time a day all is great. THANK YOU Dr Lawrence Perlmutter your the BEST .

My experience with the Perlmutter Eye Center was totally positive. The staff was very courteous and professional and Dr. Perlmutter easily accommodated my need for cataract surgery done at a specific time. Due to the efforts of Dr. Perlmutter I now possess 20/15 vision. I am extremely gratified by these results, and therefore, can unreservedly recommend the Center to anyone in need of eye care.

So Sad ..... the practice has become an assembly line .... saw the doc for probably 5 minutes for an ongoing problem .... had injections to the eyelid ... said to keep taking antibiotics ... i said for how long .. he says dont worry keep taking them ... WHAT !!!!... C YA ....

Dr Perlmutter removed cataracts from both of my eyes. I felt he explained all options and I decided to go with only distance correction plus an astigmatism in one eye that required lazar surgery. All was successful and I have 20 20 vision. FYI I prefer to wear glasses as I always have and bought trifocal glasses with plain glass for distance and correction for reading and computers that I bought for $15 online.

I have been going to see Dr. Perlmutter for several years and recently had cataract surgery. It was a seamless, comfortable and painless process in a very efficient and immaculate medical center. I cant remember ever having any other procedure where the benefit was so immense and there was no pain involved. I am thrilled to have 20-20 vision again after 30 plus years of misery. The experiance was great, the staff very nice and friendly. My experience was great. Everything for surgery was professinal. Dr. Perlmutter was easy to talk you and didn rush you .

In a word, Dr. David Perlmutter is a gentleman -- a gentle man -- kind, compassionate and caring; qualities that immediately put me at ease. I was nervous at the thought of having cataract surgery, so it was important to me to find a doctor I could trust and feel confident would be the absolute best at what he did. I found such a doctor in Dr. David. He took the time to explain what he could do; what options were available, which was helpful because I wouldnt have known what questions to ask. His approach allowed me to feel included in the decisions to be made, which was important in that I would be living with the outcome of those decisions. Both surgeries and the recovery after went smoothly, and I no longer need to wear contacts, something I did for 35 years. He also has an amazing staff. Each one professional, yet relaxed and friendly, helping to make patients feel comfortable and well cared for. Im glad I chose Dr. David Perlmutter, and I would highly recommend him to anyone searching for a doctor who is talented, highly skilled and truly concerned for his patients.

The waits to be seen are definately not acceptable. 1.5 hours and still waiting. Last visit was same.

Removed two cataracts and replaced with standard Medicare lens for my 88 YO Dad back in Sept and Oct 2019. Very happy with both the Pre-op and post-op care received after each procedure. With Dr. Perlmutter personally calling the evenings of both surgeries and and office follow-up next day and and one month later. Would recommend Dr. Perlmutter to anyone thinking about cataract surgery.

First I want to say that I am absolutely thrilled with the results of my focus (and clarity) corrected cataract surgery. It is.. simply life changing - even after two out of three eye doctors said my pre-surgery condition did not quite yet warrant it. The staff at the surgery center were wonderful, as was Dr. Perlmutter who personally called me before and after surgery (including on a holiday weekend Sunday evening); FAR beyond what I expected. There were some glitches with the office staff (scheduling) and setting up my online personal account (unnecessarily complex, confusing, & unforgiving) - never did work. One other suggestion, the office should provide a personalized printed calendar for the staggered L-R eye three eye drop application routine - it is a very complex schedule to keep track of. Overall, i could not be happier with my decision to do this, with Dr. Perlmutter, and my final results.

I RECOMEND DR. DAVID FOR ANY SURGERY YOU NEED. HE REMOVED CATARACTS FROM BOTH EYES THAT HAD ME ALMOST BLIND AND HOUSEBOUND. AFTER A THREE MONTH WAIT DUE TO COVID19 MY SURGERY GAVE ME 20-20 AND 2010 VISION. NOW AFTER 51 YEARS I NO LONGER NEED GLASSES AT ANY DISTANCE THANKS TO THE PAN TORIC LENSES WE USED. IF THEY WORK FOR YOU I RECOMEND YOU SPEND THE EXTRA AMOUNT. EVEN THOUGH I WAS APREHENSIVE ABOUT SURGERY EVERYONE INVOLVED INFORMED AND CALMED MY FEARS THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS. Dr. David Perlmutter recently did a fantastic, successful double cataract operation on me. Normally, I am not labelled as a lucky, but in finding such a great Ophthalmologist I can truly say, my luck has changed. I would recommend him to anyone at anytime to look after your eyesight for you. He is dedicated, extremely knowledgeable and caring. He went so far as to call me the evenings after the surgeries to see how I was. I also found his staff members to be polite, efficient and eager to put you at ease. Just want to echo all of the positive reviews! Due to a family history of eye issues/ having cataract surgery as a child, I tend to get a bit freaked before my annual ophthalmology appointments. Dr. David Perlmutter is very calming, takes time to answer all of my questions, and was very patient with me while performing a laser repair to a retinal hole. Im new to the Albany area and very happy to have found a great ophthalmologist. Highly recommend!

Absolutely awful. The staff are rude and they are unable to see their patients in a timely manner (patients are being seen well over an hour after their initially scheduled time). The waiting room is a mess, with elderly individuals who have just had their eyes dilated trying to make it back to their seats without an escort and others left unsure if they should wait to be called or approach the receptionist for the next step (if you do the latter, you’re sure to catch some attitude). If you can go somewhere else, do it.

Dr. Lawrence Perlmutter is amazing. If you didnt know, he is one of the top ophthalmologists in the country. His son, David, just joined the practice. They both have amazing bed-side manner and are very knowledgeable. David attended Wills Eye institute (top in the world). I have decent eyes (knock on wood), so its just routine exams for the most part. But I know 2 other patients who suffered from severe eye problems (basically couldnt see any more) eventually requiring surgery. Dr. Lawrence saw them and also performed the surgeries, and in both cases he fixed their eyesight. If you have any eye needs, these are the doctors to see.

I have been a patient of the Perlmutter Eye Center for over 30 years, starting with Dr. Larry Perlmutter and now with his son Dr. David Perlmutter. Dr. Larry performed my first cataract surgery 2 years ago and Dr. David recently did the other. Both are talented ophthalmologists who demonstrate professionalism and care for their patients. Worse experience at a physicians office ever. First we had to wait 10min to check in while the staff decided on lunch. Then waited a total of 3hrs for an complete eye exam (a good portion of that wait was them eating their lunch). Will never return.

Doctor is extremely nice and friendly.Staff is RUDE not helpful, provides incorrect information regarding insurance and doesnt bother to help or assist. Receptionist was extremely rude and doesnt know how to speak to customers. Would never come back to this facility because of the rude staff.Extremely RACIST towards people with accents and cant be bothered to help out with any insurance questions. Secretary and supervisor within this facility should NOT work with people as they dont know how to help or explain things.
