Got charged an 80$ contact fitting free - which was definitely not mentioned before my eye exam.Looking up sources online, contact fitting should cost 25-75 $, so thats above average to being with.Also, very frustrated by how slow service was on check-out.Have nothing bad to say about the optometrist and ophthalmologist - the eye exam was prompt and thorough.

Ive had a staff member single out my means of insurance and deny me service until another rude staff came to collect my information and tell me to wait while other go ahead of me who just came in.

I like empire vision or visionworks as its called. ReStore hours are very reasonable. They also do eye exams if you need that done there. They accept most insurance is but please call ahead. You will get a voicemail and her name is Amelia shes just beginning give her some time if you cant understand her you can always drop in you dont have to make a reservation but you will have to wear a mask and they will take your temperature as you enter the store

Never pick up the phone. Always gets sent to a call center, and when the call center tries to contact the store they say they cannot get in touch with the store. What’s the point of having phones if you’re unable to pick them up and help your paying customers.

I am very disappointed....my two children and I all had appointments on October 3rd...we bought 5 pairs of glasses and a years worth of contacts. I was getting a new type of contacts so I had to get a trial pair before they would order them but they had none in stock so they had to order them.. We went back 2 weeks later to pick the glasses and trial contacts up. Then I had to go back a week later with the trial contacts in for a check up before they would order them. When I went back on Oct 24th they ordered the new contacts but I was not happy with the 2 pairs of glasses I bought for myself. I paid extra for ultra thin lenses but they were very thick. They said I had to pick smaller frames. So I did and they put in a change order. They said to come back 2 weeks later on November 7. When I got to the store nothing was there. I was told that the plant in Texas was closed and they had no idea when they would be done and they had no way to contact them. I was then told that they were putting on my order to have them shipped to my house. Over a month later i still have not received them. I did call the call center today and finally got through after almost an hour on hold and I was told they were shipped to the store. They could not tell me when or why I was never called. They pretty much told too bad so sad. They said they will have to store call me to arrange shipment to my house. We will see how long this will take now. Since you cant just go to the store and pick them up without an appointment. I will never be going back there again.

I see all these horrible reviews and I laugh. Not because its funny people received such poor service but I was there last week and received the same horrible service. I showed up 10 min early for my appt with most of the paperwork completed the night before online. Filled out the same exact forms in office. Don’t bother pre filling the forms it only saves your name and address nothing else you answered. I then waited an hour last my appt time just to be seen by a doctor. Exam went well and got my eyes dilated and sent out to pick out a pair of frames. Well there was no one available to assist as the dilation started to take effect. After I chose what I liked I had to sit down and wait to be helped. That was 40 more min. I wasn’t helped until the doctor came out to bring me back in to finish the exam. I told her I haven’t even been helped up and she talked to the staff and I was then helped. The whole time sitting there you could here the staff banter about the place and how poorly ran it is. They were missing receipts, files, you name it. Not looking forward to go back in about a week to get my glasses. I hope I will be about to go to a different location if I have any issues with adjustments etc. 2+ hours for an eye exam on what seemed to be a slow Saturday morning

I wish I could give them below one star and I regret that I have waited more than a month for their appointment for my son on November 3,2020. He is seven years and having problem with his glasses, so I took the appointment more than a month ago but right before the day of the appointment a person named JEFF called and said there is a technical problem and they have to reschedule tomorrows appointment and the earliest appointment would be Dec 15,2020 which is another month and half away. I asked him repeatedly that its not my fault and to schedule something soon but he never accepted that this is their issue and kept on asking if I want cancel the appointment? THIS IS NOT ME WHO IS CANCELLING THE APPOINTMENT , THATS YOU!! This is the worst possible way to handle a childs appointment. SHAME ON YOU!

I would like to know what exactly goes on there at this facility. When I had an appointment I came in 20 mins early and waited 2.5hrs and not happy about it. My time is valuable and if I cant come in and do a gracefully zippity appointment, I may need to find a new provider. I cant get through on the phone to make a new appointment. NOBODY!!! ANSWERS PHONES!NOBODY!!! I need a pair of glasses so bad I cant even see out of my old ones. Then you send mailers and cant give us the service we need because its hideously SLOW!! NO MANAGEMENT!! NO TIME AWARENESS!! STAFF IS FLUSTERED AND IN THEIR OWN WORLD!! I stood in front of the front desk waiting to be acknowledged and she wouldnt look up at all. I think I stood there for about 9 mins before being acknowledged. I could use a job during this pandemic. Hook me up with the phone lines re-routed to my line w phone and headset for $17hr and you can let the office staff go. Ill work from home! Thatll be great! And 1 last thing. If you can manage to talk to the Dr and see if hell do over the phone/Zoom call and perform the eye test with charts????

This place does not believe in telephones or emails. Shoutout to Erin for helping me find a pair of frames and place an order, unfortunately that is the only positive thing I have to say. I placed the order at the end of the day 8/5 and was told 2-3 weeks, I received an email confirmation on 8/7. I tried calling the store multiple times and finally opened an online ticket on 8/28. A customer service rep called me back within the hour and said that someone from the store would call me about my order. I heard nothing from the store or from customer service. I decided to just go into the store a week later and find out the order was ready on 8/26, 2 days before I opened the online ticket, and that someone would have left me a voicemail that day. I did not get a call, voicemail, or email from Visionworks letting me know that my order was ready and only found out by going into the store a month later to ask in person.

I ordered glasses three weeks ago and was told that it generally takes two weeks. I remember when they used to do same day glasses, apparently they dont do that anymore. I have been calling the store phone number and the customer care line and nothing. The associate told me they would call when the glasses came in which has an expected date of 8/19/2020. I am using an old prescription which isnt helping my eyesight. I dont understand how Im not able to contact them just to confirm the trajectory of the glasses. I am out of state and cannot drive 400 miles just to visit the store.

They sent my glasses to the wrong address and never called to tell me that they were sitting at ups because they couldnt be delivered

I Went for a appointment and during my exam they sent me out the room in the middle of my exam to rush someone else in to do there exam.. in the middle of if the other person information was saved in my file on the computer and made my prescription worse then what I have! Then while waiting to give associate my glasses I picked out they had me wait 45 mins just to give them the glasses and the more I said something they made me wait longer I was the first person there and the last person to leave... 2 1/2 hours I was there also they are bad with customer service... And phone service is bad! While typing this review I have been on the phone waiting for someone to pick up the phone for 48mins now! I have been coming to this location for several years never experienced anything like this at all!

I don’t know if it’s just the Albany location or all visionworks, but their customer service is terrible. Every time I try to call it’s impossible to get through over the phone, and the options presented essentially try to prevent you from talking to a live person. One time I called and waited half an hour before giving up and waiting for a day when I had more patience. If they didn’t already have my prescription hostage (can’t access mine online), I would never do business with them again.

Incredibly disappointing. Got eye exam and had new glasses sent to out of town location because I was moving there soon.Get glasses, the prescription is off. The other visionworks I go to called this store to confirm a work order; they cannot reach the store (this store doesnt pick up calls from their OWN COMPANY).I attempt to call, cannot get through. Transferred after 30 minutes on hold to central office who escalates to managerial level. I still hear no news 1 week later. Eventually the store close to me gets ahold of this store, they say they will fax the order....then dont.Stay away from this store. Poor communication and terrible structure/service. If anything needs to be changed/adjusted, youre on your own. Its possible its just visionworks as a whole, but Ive found the new location to be very accommodating.

Waited 1 month for my appointment, they then cancelled my appointment and told me Id have to wait another 1 month. I then waited approximately 1 month for my glasses to be ready. I informed them I wanted single vision glasses during appointment. Upon pick up they gave me READING glasses. I told them these are wrong, I want single vision. They said they would fix them. I called them today 3-4 weeks later to ask if they are ready. They NEVER EVEN PUT IN THE REQUEST TO HAVE THEM CORRECTED. Now they keep informing me I can only have DISTANCE glasses, not good for everyday wear. Seriously?

I chose this location cause they took my insurance and they had the earliest appointments I could find. Slight wait when I arrived but had skeleton crew due to Covid and they pushed me through as soon as they. Store was very busy and staff was working hard. I got my script and picked out my frames, saleswoman said itd be 2 weeks but 4 days later got a notification they were. I made an appointment to pick them up and after a slight mixup with names, i walked out with my new glasses. The doctor, sales staff, and everyone were attentive and made the process easy, felt bad they running around like chickens with no heads on but im very satisfied with the service i received. I have 2 other locations closer to my home but these ladies were most accomodating. Theyre not amswering phones cause of minimal staff and make an appointment online was super easy. Glasses are great and no problems to report.

This place has gone completely down hill over the years. I waited on hold for 30 minutes just for someone to place me on another hold and never return to the phone! Waited another 2 weeks to receive an appointment for them not to have any contacts in stock and another 3 weeks to receive the contacts charged totally different fee from advertised online. Safe to say after 15 years it’s tome to find a new vision center

This location is horrible. I have waited on hold for 1 hour 45 minutes for assistance and never received any. I contact the customer service number and they sent an email for them to call me and I never received a call back. The one African American lady that works at the desk with an accent is slow and doesnt know how to do her job. When you go there they let the phone ring and never pick it up.

The doctor didn’t even check my eyes the way they’re supposed to. He just put in my prescription and asked if I could see. When I said yes, he declared that my description hadn’t changed. I’m no optometrist, but this seems ineffective and he’s the only doctor I’ve ever had to do this.

Im honestly very disappointed in this place. Ive been there a few times now and I see the same issues. Issues that are a big enough deal to me that, without major changes, I will not be returning.Pros:++I really liked both doctors Ive worked with. They were nice, fast, answered any questions I had+Good choice of frames++Staff was very nice+++Took my insurance++Text appointment remindersCons:---Extremely time inefficient. It took almost two hours for me to get an eye exam, buy glasses and buy contacts. Most of that time was spent just...waiting--Very poor communication with the customer. I was told I would need a follow up appointment for my contacts in about 1-2 weeks. I assumed that I would be told when this was. It was never scheduled. Luckily I called about my glasses or I would have never known my contacts were ready. I will say there is ONE staff member that I was very impressed with! She even got me in early for the new follow up appointment, see below. She alone, however, does not make up for everyone else.--Very poor communication with each other. I was told that my insurance would and then wouldnt cover my glasses a few different times from different people.--My follow up appointment from above was cancelled without me being told. So I took time off work to come in only to find out that I had no appointment and still couldnt pick up my contacts. I was told they attempted to contact me but I had no missed calls nor messages on my phone. And they had the correct number for me.--Since I was already there I picked up my glasses only to find out that they couldnt be adjusted because the person that did that wasnt in.Overall all of my experiences there have been a lot of wasted time with very little reward. The staff is very nice but strikingly incompetent, bar the one I mentioned above. No one seems to know what theyre doing or whats going on and that just ends up wasting everyones time. I will not be returning unless I hear or a major staff changeover or training. It would be faster for me to drive further away and get things done in a reasonable time frame.

Disorganized, unreliable, low-quality experience. I arrived for my scheduled appointment and waited hours as the clerical staff ignored me. The optometrist was seeing no patients simply because the clerical staff was so disorganized prioritizing phone calls and entering data over getting my folder to the optometrist to get my appointment moving along.Finally, I spoke directly to the optometrist as he walked by and was able to get seen.It has been almost three weeks since my appointment and I am still waiting for my contacts to arrive. I called them multiple times inquiring why they still have not arrived (this in itself was a challenge because they would leave me waiting and never call me back). They provided no explanation. I could have ordered my own contacts online and received them weeks ago.What a nightmare. This is the worst vision center to get treated in the capital region. You are doing yourself and your family a disservice by coming here.

Even though it was an exceptionally busy time, I was acknowledged and my reason for my visit asked. I was assigned to an individual employee who saw to my needs when she finished working with the person before me. When visiting a store like this, you must be ready to be patient and wait, dont think you are going to run in and complete your errand. The buying of a pair of glasses is a complicated task, frames, lenses, prescriptions, tinting, pricing, sales, fitting. Trust me, you want it done professionally and with quality materials... these folks have both! I was very pleased with my visit and look forward to picking up my new glasses! I have been a customer of Vision Works for over 20 years.

Empire Visionworks (formerly Empire Vision) recently underwent a remodel and looks amazing, but the customer service they provide has deteriorated. They seem less friendly, and the doctor doesnt make any attempts at discussing concerns he may have. All they did was perform the eye exam in 2 minutes and they sent me out to the waiting room without another word.

They were great to my husband. Waiting and on him hand and foot.Me....? They threw options in front of me on a plastic board walked away and said choose what you want. I asked questions but theyacked like I was bothering them. I learned more when i went with my husband but that was too late for my glasses where already ordered and paid for.Suggestion: Go here if you are a male. Go somewhere else if you are a women. I have to go back to get my glasses in a week and a half (10 days) but i dont mind the wait. The staff made the annoying travel 😒 well worth it .

I would not recommend this place. The person that examined my eyes yelled at me during the exam because I said there was no significant difference between the two lens. A number of the employees were also very unprofessional, on the two visits I had (to have the exam and to pick up my glasses) multiple employees were talking down to an employee in front of the customers. Again I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I called to request a replacement pair of glasses. They made me drive three hours then sit and wait another two just to tell me my frames needed to be ordered and I would need to come back in a week for my glasses. Unexpectdly my glasses broke and I was in a bind. I called at 10:27am and was told that an appointment had not shown and If I could come now I would be able to get in. Once at your Albany location, I was greeted by Marta and was seen within 10min. I was given straight forward options for repair and replacement, I chose to replace with an eye exam. Within 55min of walking in the door I was walking out with new lenses and frames being cut for pickup in an hour. When I returned I was quickly sitting to have my new frames adjusted. I have been a client of Empire since the 90s and have never had this type of service! Marta did an expectional job. Thanks!

My insurance is with this company, so Im forced to go here. I once was put on hold to make an appointment for 30 minutes, and ended up havihan up. Then when I finally did hey through had to wait 2 months to get an appointment. Ive been now waiting 20 minutes to get my glasses adjusted, and theres one person only working the floor, who is complaining about being a traveler over several stores and noting that they are very under staffed. I feel so bad for this woman and the customers. They really need to hire more people here. Its ridiculous!!

Excellent store.The two occasions Ive purchased here, the sales people were knowledgable and helpful, managed to get everything covered by my insurance, handled complications regarding different prescriptions, and were patient with my indecision regarding frames. Unlike many shops they DONT try to upsell you more expensive frames or extra features. Very reasonable prices and there are usually some decent frames or packages on sale. Only downside is there is often a long wait

Been going here for years and never had an issue until just recently. My whole family had eye exams on a Tuesday and my husband wanted to get contacts instead of glasses so an appt was made on a Saturday for him to come up and do a 1st trial on contacts. We had to reschedule it due to my husband couldnt get out of work. So another appt for that following Tuesday was setup and again my husband was stuck on a job so I called and talked to Larry (General Manager) that I needed a Saturday appt again since he was able to get it off. I was told there was no person available on Saturdays to do the trial for contacts so I was put on hold and a nice lady got on the phone and said he could come in on Saturday 6/16/18 to help him with contact trial. We all go up there today 6/16/18 for my husbands appt at 1030am and Larry says there is no one there to do the trial and that we need to reschedule again.. Beyond pissed at how your establishment runs this place. I will probably be doing business somewhere else due to how unprofessional your General Manager is.Oh and also called several times cause I left my old prescription glasses there from our first visit and I was told that they were not there in lost and found. Low and behold today 6/16/18 I see my old pair of supposedly lost glasses on the same desk I told them to look on. The staff at Visionworks freely and openly use foul language. To sit in a lobby hearing A-word, F-word in between giggling casual conversation shows a pathetic apathy twords standard professional behavior.

Went for my glasses over a year ago, was unhappy with the rude customer service i received! Also I went to another location in Latham and received the same. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Vision Works Ive had horrible times with them even after I received my glasses. There doctor didnt even talk with me thoroughly just did them exam and done.

Update. Reduced 2 star for empty promises on sending prescription. There is a fax option.update! Deidra is awesome, patient and kind.Extremely disorganized. I scheduled appoitment for 4 PM and they claimed it was at 345. Something is wrong with their internal communication. Also contacts took 8 weeksnto come in, thats insane by any standard.

Really long wait times. Prepare to take a half day from work to get through an eye appointment and buying contacts/glasses. The staff are nice but incompetent. I had to wait a month to get contacts because of a miscommunication by multiple staff. Really bad experience.

Very disorganized office . I learned at the last minute (evening before) after 2 months of waiting that my exam was not insured until 2 weeks from now . I went elsewhere and can be seen in a MUCH more reasonable time frame .Why did I have to wait over 2 months initially?

It took over an hour waiting to place an order when I had a prescription with me, no exam needed, then Im told 4 times that if you dont hear from us they will be ready. When I come to pick up glasses a week after the said they would be done they are nowhere to be found, still waiting on lenses there goes another hour. Should have gone somewhere else.

Terrible customer service. I just needed my prescription that they had already measured, and they would not give it to me. When I tried to figure out why, the receptionist was incredibly dumb, rude, and entirely unhelpful. Go anywhere else.
