I have been needing my eyes examined for ages now, but I kept putting it off. After hearing his praises from a dear friend I decided to make my appointment at Kurtin Vision Specialists. I was so nervous and wasnt really sure what to expect but at soon as I arrived I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Kurtins staff is so friendly, attentive and professional.I left feeling very informed and satisfied, I even found a cute pair of frames. I long fear going to the eye doctor. A couple if years ago, after going to two doctors, I found doctor Kurtin. He within a few minutes diagnosed what was wrong with my eye. I had a detachment of an eye muscle. I’m extremely very thankful.He is the best in his field. This week I went to see him thinking I had ‘dry eye’ , he again diagnosed what had happened. I’m very blessed to have come across him. I honestly highly recommend Dr Kurtin. Eyes are very important

I’m so grateful that we found Dr.Kurtin and his team. We had been referred to other vision specialist with no progress. We arrived at the office and I immediately felt like we definitely had found someone who would help my son with his eye condition. Not only was Dr. Kurtin very informative so was his staff. My son was fitted for scleral lenses that day and could have walked with them that day but we were short on time. We didn’t have to wait weeks for an appointment and to be able to get the lenses quickly was great. My son will be attending college playing football and he needed to be able to see. Dr. Kurtin and his staff went above and beyond to help him. My son stated that his vision is so clear and he no longer has to squint to see. He can see so many things that for so long he was unable to see. Once again I’m so grateful for Dr. Kurtin and his staff. We will continue to be patients of his. 😊❤️

Everyone at this place are true professionals and the doctor is truly an expert in sclerals. I am extremely happy about the outcome of my visit and would highly recommend discussing your options with him. The follow up care has been outstanding. Dr. Kurtin is wonderful. I have been searching for about a year for someone who could examine my husbands eyes. He has dementia and cannot do a normal exam where the doctor or a technician keeps switching the lens and asking Is 1 or 2 better? Is 2 or 3 better? He cannot do that even though he can still read. Last year we had a terrible experience at our previous doctors office. A practice I had been very happy with for decades. After being assured they could help despite his dementia he was treated poorly and indifferently by the technician. We left with no exam. Recently I tried to call the doctor to discuss the possibility of a different approach. The doctor never returned my call. My husband also has diabetes and eye exams are so important. Plus I wanted him to have new glasses while he can still read eye charts. Dr. Kurtin was highly recommended to me by a friend. He and his staff were great! So patient, so kind and so inventive! He did a very thorough exam using different techniques than one would use for other adults. The exam was very thorough and all possible eye problems were covered in the exam. He will now have new glasses with a change that was needed for the prescription. We have another appointment in 6 months to monitor a possible problem. I will also be making an appointment for me for my next exam. Very happy to have found such a kind and talented doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Kurtin for specialty contact lenses. I was told only candidate for Schelar lens which would be around $2800. He ordered Schelar lens and I was not able to get them in or out of my eyes. Even the assostants had troubke getting thrm out. In fact scratching my eyes in thr attempt. Then he said soft contact lens. We had same issue. It took them several minutes to get them out using numerous tools. I ask for refund. After several weeks I got check for $1790. I called for explanation and was told exam for Schelar lens is $995. This is on top of $135 eye exam, $45 for eyeglass RX, $70 machine wellness screening, $35 machine cornea screening. I paid $2915 and got $1790 back. I find this abuse to Seniors. I would not recommend this doctor if I was going blind.

I dont typically share reviews but Dr. Kurtin and his staff really changed the way we receive visual care. Ive learned so much from this doctor on the health of my eyes. As a business owner, I appreciated the honesty, transparency, and affordability from this place. Got a pair of glasses that I picked up after a week and it was worth the wait! Completely mind blowing experience, highly recommend!

Beware, Stay away from this place its a time suck. I made my appointment 2 weeks out and called to verify the time on the morning of the appointment. Upon my arrival I was told my appointment had been canceled but after checking they would be able to see me after the current customer. Upon checking they did not accept my insurance and I would have to pay the entire bill. this should have been all worked out and there was no explanation of why my appointment was canceled.Who want these people examining your eyes. Beware.

Miracle worker! I had a childhood eye injury thats made me self conscious about my appearance and I feel it affects how people view me. Ive tried cosmetic lens before but they were uncomfortable, and the color was never right. Dr. Kurtin was able to get me fit with a lens that Im able to wear all day without issue, and a remarkably close color. He took the time to make sure the fit was proper and the color was right. When it wasnt he had a new lens made, and we tried again.

Dont look anywhere else for an eye doctor!! Go here!! Dr. Kurtin is the best. Very knowledge answers any questions or concerns you may have and really takes his time needed with patients to make sure they have all questions answered. And the staff just makes it even better! AMAZING customer service. I was able to get in and make an appointment very quickly.

I have been looking for a good doctor to help me treat my Keratoconus yearly for five years!!! They are knowledgeable and have taught me with information about my condition that I wasnt even aware of. I can finally say, I am done looking! I was very impressed with every aspect of my visit from the doctor, to the assistant, to the receptionist Jennifer, who was very sweet when she answered my list of questions before making the appointment. Even if I move out of the area I will always come to them. I wanted to especially reach out to Yulia for being so kind and patient when teaching me how to put on my scleral lenses. My experience was beyond my wildest expectations. I was told contact lens were an impossibility by an ophthalmologist due to my decades old RK and Lazik surgeries. When I sought a second opinion at Kansal Eye, Dr. Kansal explained that contacts would in fact be quite a challenge but if anyone could fit me it would be Dr. Kurtin. Dr. Kurtin did fit me with contacts with reading vision in my left eye and distance vision in my right eye. I couldnt be more pleased and highly recommend Kurtin Vision Specialist.

After losing my insurance that I used to have I had to leave Dr. Kurtin and boy I tell you it was devastating! back to the drawing board like it was before I met Dr Kurtin, the up’s and down of Dr’s trying to treat my kerataconas condition. He was a God send before and now that I’m back due to my company finally getting a insurance that has medical necessity contacts in the plan, I’ve come back and he’s right back at it, treating me with ease, comfort, patience, and concern!! Do yourself a favor try them you will not be disappointed!! I promise you the staff has changed since the last time I was there but, they’re just as good!! Love em and so glad to be back!!! Service Excellent!!!

Doctor is fabulous! Staff and billing is a nightmare. They did not verify benefits when given insurance ahead of time. I was charge significantly more then my co pay and they still have not returned money. Very frustrated

Fantastic experience. Efficient and easy to become a new patient. Danielle worked with me to get an appointment and Tracey guided me through all of the testing, etc. Dr. Kurtin was efficient, knowledgeable and explained my vision prescription. Lori shored it all up with billing & benefits and said they could order almost any frame I was interested in and could even put lenses in my old frames! Thank you!I have to share my fear of going to the eye doctor: Of all types of medical appointments, I dread the optometrist/ophthalmologist the most. Seriously. I can never tell which one is better on the which one is better line of questioning. Somehow, Dr. Kurtin made it obvious. Also, another reason I chose to go here was because they have all the technology. I prefer the latest in technology and they seem to have it all! (For instance, did you know you can get a crown for your tooth inside of 3 hours? Yes! Go find that dentist! - And yes, I fear the eye doctor way more than the dentist!)Spring for the extra (nominal) fee for some of these great technologies and you wont be disappointed.

I am so happy to have found this office!Upon arriving, the ladies at the front desk greeted me in a timely manner, checked me in for my appointment, explained the pricing of different products for when my eye exam was done and kindly offered reshreshments while I waited. Dr. Kurtin and his staff are phenomenal! Dr. Kurtin has a great bedside manner with both adults and kids, is very informative, and is very easy to talk to. This carries over to his staff who are also amazing! They take the time to interact with you, not just about your visit, but about you as well. They are very helpful in the selection process and will work very hard to help you stay on budget. We have definitely found a permanent home for all of our optometry needs!

My 6 year old daughter loves this place!!!I had no idea that her eye sight was bad until a note came home from school. When I booked the visit, they sent me all of the paperwork days before, and I was able to read it, complete it, and send it in before the visit. The day of the visit, we walked into the office stress free.Dr. Kurtin was wonderful with her. The staff there is top notch and put her at ease. They were able to get her prescription by measuring her eyes. Shes in kindergarten, so they confirmed the measurements with a test of looking at shapes, numbers, and some letters. She even picked her frames out in the office on her first visit! And they are super-cute, too!I didnt know what to expect before coming into the office, and now I couldnt imagine taking her to another place.

I showed up to Dr. Kurtins office with no appointment and was immediately greeted with professionalism and care. The friendly staff took their time to speak with the Dr. to get me an appointment that day. Dr. Kurtin took time to listen to my concerns and didnt conduct any unnecessary testing. Ive hesitated writing this review about Dr. Kurtin for awhile now, but I think it should be out there.When I visited this office, I had just moved to the area completely alone and found Kurtin Vision through my network and was excited after reading the reviews, particularly about his great bedside manner. However, I left this office feeling extremely uncomfortable and do not plan to go back.When asking about my hobbies, Dr. Kurtin discovered that I enjoy music and singing, and said he did too. We proceeded to talk about music and he said he actually puts his own music on iTunes (its true- I found it), and then said to me You know, Ive been looking for a soprano for my music if youre interested. I really think I could use a womans voice. There would be wine involved, of course.... weird... but not the tipping point. He then proceeded to say I would have done music but I dont have the look for it. You could put on something sexy and be fine, but I cant do that. At this point I was ready to jump out of the room. Dr. Kurtin made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I came to the eye doctor to get a prescription for new glasses-- not to receive suggestive commentary.In short, if you are a young woman, beware coming here. Even though the office was very clean and the receptionist was very friendly, I will not be returning.Edit in response to the owners comment: I am appalled that as a practice you would accuse me of being misleading and say that MY commentary is inappropriate, as if what was said to me in your practice was not the inappropriate part of this situation. What I have written is exactly what happened. I am reminded of it every day when I drive passed your Billboard on the tollway which is part of the reason I decided to finally write a review. If it looks bad in writing, then imagine how I felt in person. I was not showing interest - from the moment he began talking about his music I felt uncomfortable and was offering minimum responses. I dont believe Dr. Kurtin had poor intentions, but I was made to feel very uncomfortable and you should be looking to fix that instead of accusing me of being misleading in order to salvage your reputation. It is not okay to suggest having a private audience with a young female patient after having just met them, let alone say that there would be alcohol involved. I have every right to share how I was made to feel on a public platform where people get to choose their care providers, and I will not be invalidated by a practice that cant own up to their actions and try to correct them.

In town for a few weeks, needed an eye exam. The staff at Kurtin Vision are great! Very professional group of people. I felt that the eye exam by Dr. Kurtin was very thorough. Highly recommend Dr. Kurtin and his staff.

Bad experience. Very difficult to get appointments with Dr. Kurtin. My son, who is an existing patient of Dr. Kurtin, was having issues with his lens. My son has school on weekdays so I was looking for 4pm appointment so that he doesnt miss school. I called them and the front desk was very dismissive and first time I called they didnt even bother to ask patients name. Just said there were no evening appointments available until two weeks out. I found other doctors in Frisco who are equally good, their front desk politely tried to find options and are not in a hurry to end the call.

Experts at cross-eyed and corneal related conditions. Doctor was so knowledgeable and an expert communicator. Stacey and Lori, his assistants were great and knew their business, too. I am in perfect hands, getting new contacts AND a new pair of glasses PLUS the right medical care for my conditions.

My wife and I are a young couple who are transferring from the military life back into the civilian one. With this, we had many questions about our insurance coverages.The staff there is incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help us on more than visual needs. We will absolutely be returning to them in the future.

I will have to say that even though things got really rocky, Dr Kurtin really proved to me that he is really sincere in his practice to put the customer first. We had a problem with miscommunication and he took care of it. What really proved to me he was sincere was when he called me while he was on vacation to find out what the problem I had was. In the end, he went above and beyond to take care of my concerns and I definitely plan on going back.

Finally I found Dr. Steve Kurtin! I was a long time Patient at his Plano location and when he sold the practice the new owner told me he had retired and I found out that was not the case. My experience was top notch, I have keratoconus and the new dr at Plano that took his place could not fit me very well even after several visits. I had one visit with Dr. Kurtin and everything was perfect. He is truly a gifted Dr. and care about his patients. His staff was amazing from the moment I walked in even with the office being very busy they made me feel like I was the only one there. Lori was fantastic and Stacey the tech showed such knowledge of Keratoconus and contact lens options. I am so happy to have finally found Dr. Kurtin again and I can see well for the first time in years.

Ive had terrible vision for years now and now that I can see pretty clearly I realize my previous contacts were never the right prescription. I havent seen like this since I was a kid. Dr. Kurtin & his amazing staff were great. Ive seen 3 drs before meeting Dr. Kurtin & I really went in thinking ok youre going to check my eyes and tell me I cant get contacts or glasses then youre going to refer me to surgery thats the story I have been told since I was 17. Im 25 years old now and when I placed the scleral contacts in my eyes I immediately started crying because I could see! I have keratoconus disease and I had run out of hope but Dr. Kurtin & his staff gave me my life back. Gave me a new beginning. Im so grateful for them. I refer everyone with any eye problems to them. Dr. Kurtin is a great man and has a lot of patience to take care of my keratoconus son. He speaks a little Spanish. He examined my eyes also to get new glasses. I had no insurance to pay, but Jesus answered my prayers.
