Im an old customer whos been remiss about getting in for a check-up of late. With my glasses in shambles and a trip coming up I bumbled my way past the appointments only sign. After a bit of discussion about my situation they asked Dr Gormley if need be able to see one more person today. Yes and checked and glasses ordered. I should not be rewarded for bad behavior, but I was.

Dr. Gormley and staff are the best - friendly, caring, and professional. I have been coming here for years and my prescription lenses always come out perfect. The selection of eyewear is really great too. Highly recommended!

Be Aware: ***West Seattle Optix does not accept returns on sunglasses (off the shelf, non-prescription) and will not communicate this to you at purchase***I needed new sunglasses and wanted to support a small, local business rather than a chain or Amazon, so I went to West Seattle Optix. After a few days, the sunglasses Id purchased were pinching my nose/didnt sit properly, so I took them back to discover they would not accept a return on the $115 shades. I told them that was ridiculous and, with a policy like that, they ought to tell customers at the register. After arguing and insistence, the doctor in the back room agreed to refund with a $25 re-stocking fee, or about 20% of the amount I paid. I left the sunglasses and receipt there and was told I would receive the partial refund in few days because the accountant only comes in certain days. Nearly two weeks later, I was reviewing my CC statement and noticed I had NOT been refunded, so now West Seattle Optix had my $115 AND the sunglasses. I had to call again and go through explanation to finally receive $90 back. Needless to say, a very sour experience trying to support a local business.

Been going to the West Seattle Optics team for about 10 years now. Love these guys. Doc G is like a friend and a neighbor (actually is both). The front office team is always very helpful picking out frames and lens features best for me. You gotta go!

My daughter had an appointment for an eye exam. She was seen quickly and was made to feel at ease. She didn’t need glasses just then but will likely in the future and we will be back.

Dr. Gormley was wonderful! He was quick but thorough with my exam and explained my options to me in a way I could understand. Everyone was so helpful when it came to pick my glasses and make decisions on the types of lenses I’d be getting. From start to finish I was very comfortable and didn’t feel pressured to pick frames super fast. I highly recommend this office for your vision needs.

The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and they listen well. I have never had a sub par experience there and I have been a patron for over 20 years. The environment is clean and they have a vast array of eyeglass styles. My contacts are always right on. It’s what you want a local establishment to be like. Relaxed and not presumptuous.

I have been going to Dr. Gormley for almost 10 years. Hes the best optometrist I have been to. Hes very thorough and doesnt rush through the exam. Had an emergency for new spectacles and he and his staff were very accommodating. Highly recommended!!!

I just needed a quick treatment, the doc got me in right away, not always possible but I got lucky. He and staff were very friendly. The cost was out of pocket but very reasonable.

Great Customer service! I was able to easily make an appointment. The doctor was very personable and I was able to get my exam and pick out my frames right after. Ive been using WS Optix for many years (tried others, but with less satisfaction). Dr. Gormley is a nice guy and uses up-to-date testing methods. The staff is helpful and always suggests frames that I wouldnt pick, but are more fashionable and fit my face better than ones I tend to look at - so I leave myself in their good hands.

Been going here almost 15 years now. Dr G. is awesome , staff is great. The ladies are always helpful with picking out frames. Great location. Lots of great places close by. I come all the way from Southeast seattle, and even though the bridge is close. I still like and choose to get my exam and glasses here.Thank you West Seattle Optix.

The Doctor and staff are really great to work with. Exams are easy and quick, with all the new equipment offered. They have a huge selection of frames and are super friendly. I love the fact that they give advise on the look of eye wear, help with all of the insurance questions and overall it is a great local, one stop eye clinic and glasses shop. I love that they are local and I hope that they are always there.

Had an eye issue and they squeezed me in today. Dr Gormley was terrific! Gave me the info I needed and answered all my questions. Also, over the past few yeras have bought two or three eyeglasses here and the experience was always super.

We used to really like this place, but honestly the customer service and eye exams have gone downhill. My daughter had to miss school because she literally could not see with her new perscription. I brought her in first thing in the morning and the front desk staff said they were going to show the lenses to the doctor to find out what the problem was. Nobody called all day to explain what was going on with her glasses. After I called, they said they were sending the lenses to be replaced, and to expect new lenses in a week. They did not give a reason. When I questioned them, the reasoning they gave sounded incorrect. It is frustrating that nobody even bothered to call and let me know what was going on. I had to take time off work to take her in and will again. On top of all this, the frames are REALLY expensive.

I have been a customer for 4 years. People ask me often where I got my glasses. They have so many options and the staff does an excellent job helping me choose the right frames for me.

Great service. The staff here usually seem pretty busy and its a small shop, but they are helpful and have a good selection of trendy frames. The optometrist is friendly and the prescription was accurate.I accidentally wrecked my lenses about 6 months after getting a new pair of glasses here and, surprisingly, they replaced them at no charge! Will come back in the future.

Ive been going here for years and even after moving out of the West Seattle area, continue to go here for both my exams and lenses/products. I saw the negative reviews on here and dont get it. The doc and staff are all awesome, patient, and friendly and they have a great selection of frames. Quite honestly, I think the one-star reviews are all written by one nut job! 5 Stars!

Picture this...youre a procrastinating chump that is about to get married and go on his honeymoon. Being a chump, you only now realize that you are out of contacts and your eyes burn like the fires of hell every time you put in the weathered pair you currently use. Further exemplifying your chumpiness, you have also put off getting your eye exam.So what do you do? You try to find a eye doctor in the area who is open at 6:20 on a Monday to beg for someone help you enjoy the gift of sight once again. I stumbled upon West Seattle Optix and noticed they closed at 6. I made a quick, desperate decision....time to roll the dice.I show up 25 minutes after the people of WS Optix have closed their doors after a long day’s work. The door is locked, lights are out, and I can only see some people in the back office finishing paper work. Just as expected.Being that I loathed those who show up after hours, only to hold me in the office long after my post is done, I conceded defeat and walked off dejected.Um, excuse me? Do you need some help?Sweeter words hath no other man heard. The Dr. noticed me slumped over walking off and asked if she could help. After explaining my situation, she did not even hesitate to get me a sample of my prescription and set up my appointment for a new eye exam. She was even happy to do it!Will I trip on the steps at the reception? NayShall I call auntie Regina Uncle Rob? NahWill I kiss my pasty white albino cousin, mistaking her for my bride in white? NinePlay in the sea with a Great White bottle-nosed dolphin? NopeAll because West Seattle Optix took pity on a poor sap like me.....I will enjoy a wonderful wedding, swim in the beautiful sea in safety and welcome guests with joy.Thank you West Seattle Optix. Best Dr, best staff, and best variety!!

West Seattle Optix has a policy of offering no refunds for glasses purchased under any scenario. I purchased a pair and they were uncomfortable after a few hours of wear. I tried several times to have them adjusted but nothing helped, so within 2 weeks of my purchase I went in and asked if I could get a refund. They said they couldnt offer a refund on the lenses because they were custom ground for my specific frame/prescription, so I said: fine, Ill eat the cost of the lens, just give me a refund on the frame, but they wouldnt even do that. Spent 600 bucks on frames/lenses that I never wear.Most major brands, such as Lenscrafters, or Market Optical, will offer you a refund. I suggest making sure you go to a shop that offers refunds (as I will). You dont want to risk getting stuck with glasses you can never return.

I’ve called and interacted with Logan twice during this pandemic and he has been friendly, professional, and knowledgeable each time. I ordered contacts and he offered additional resources/suggestions to ease the financial burden on a year supply of contacts. He is very genuine in his interactions and feels like a friend you’ve had for years. While WSO is lucky to have Logan on their staff, he is an extension of the friendliness and professionalism Dr. Damien gives to his patients. WSO is now out-of-network for me; however, they will continue to receive my loyalty and my patronage. Thank you, Logan!!1st (circa 2018) -This review is long overdue. I broke my only pair of glasses and was in desperate need of a new pair. I was able to make a last minute appointment, came in, received an updated prescription, and the staff helped me pick out a pair of glasses that would work with my existing lenses until I received my new pair. The staff stayed afterhours to ensure I had a pair of glasses on my face before I left. - This situation happened a few years ago and I never left a review as I had intended. This situation; however, is one of the best stories of customer service and relations you can have. These folks won me over as a patient for life.

The staff was friendly and very helpful in recommending frames and styles.Update now that I have my glases. They were ready for pickup 4 business days before the estimated time, and picking them up was fast and totally painless. They look great, I can see better, and there are no problems Ive experienced with the eyewear so far. Ill be going back here for my eyewear needs.Another update. Optix fixed my glasses when the nose pads broke off. It was done I n five minutes, free of charge right before they closed. They’re rock stars!

Ive had progressive glasses made by two other Seattle stores and never had a problem getting what I needed and wanted until recently when I had glasses made here.When I pointed out the problems with my lenses to the staff, I was told that it was how the VSP lab makes their progressive lenses. Had this been my first set of progressives, I would have believed everything they said and left the store with the glasses.When it became clear that they would not or could not remake the lenses, I asked for a refund and when they refused, I called VSP and received authorization from VSP to have my lenses remade by another in or out of network provider, with most of the additional cost picked up by VSP.The following is a list of everything I was told:1) Thats how the VSP lab makes progressive lenses;2) I wish that we didnt have to use the VSP lab;3) If we have the VSP lab remake your lenses, they wont be any different from how they are now;4) We are not going to negate the charges and release you so that you can have your glasses made elsewhere;5) We are not going to issue you a refund ($187 was charged to my credit card, and I am disputing the charge);6) Give us a chance to fix the problem;7) We are going to remake your glasses;8) I want to understand what you want so Ill know what to tell the VSP lab;9) Can you bring in an old pair of glasses? We can try to figure out, by looking at them, how to remake the lenses;10) The reason why things are blurry is because your vision has changed (I brought in a new prescription);11) Its how progressive lenses are made. You just need to wear them and get used to them;12) Well only negate the charges if the VSP lab credits the lab charge;13) I will check with our contact at the VSP lab and see if the lab can remake your lenses the way you want them and ask if they will credit us the lab charge;14) We are not going to remake your glasses. I called the other two stores where you said you had progressive glasses previously made, and they dont have a record of the order (I still have the receipts that I was given when I had them made);15) I didnt call our contact at the VSP lab to ask if they could remake your lenses the way you want them or credit us the lab charge; and16) You never gave us a chance to fix the problem.I didnt ask or give the staff permission to contact the other stores, and the stores they contacted didnt have my permission to give out information, albeit erroneous, about me.Earlier, I was instructed by VSP to take the frames with me and leave the lenses behind, so I went back to the store to collect the frames. As I was getting ready to leave, I asked for the owners name, and one of the employees said, He knows about and agrees with everything. I didnt have a reason to not accept this information at face value and have not contacted the owner.

Went in for eye exam as new customer (BTW, one of the fastest exams Ive ever had). Received new lens but they hurt my eyes, produced ghost images, and I couldnt see. So WSO did re exam my eyes and slightly adjusted the prescription at no extra charge. Got the new lenses and I was told to wear them for 2 weeks for my eyes to adjust. Did that - with sore eyes, headaches, and ghost images. The Dr. told me he removed the astigmatism correction from my right eye and that might be the reason it seemed off. I came into the store 2-3 times for adjustments. Nothing worked and they never tried to address the ghost images. I cannot wear the glasses for more than 5-10 minutes before my eyes/head start hurting.Fast forward to last week. I had my eyes examined across town. They also evaluated the suspect lens. Turns out the astigmatism correction was high in BOTH eyes. Well beyond what I needed. So I took the new prescription to WSO and asked for at least a partial refund. They admitted the prescriptions were very different and that they would get back to me.SO...they will NOT refund any money (its NOT their policy to return money for errors), but they could produce yet another pair of lenses. NOTE: This information from my insurance company, who called them. WSO has NOT returned my call. I have not yelled or raised my voice; I was respectful but have not received this courtesy in return.They had 4+ chances to get it right and they never did. They made me feel stupid for not being able to see when THEY got the prescription wrong. Why should I trust them?!?!?

They tried to send me out the door with the wrong eyeglasses that were made incorrectly because my prescription was written down wrong in my file! Id been a patient of Dr. Gormley since 2001. Up until 2015 my vision was 20/20 or 20/15 due to LASIK surgery. But over the course of 2015-2016, it degraded very slightly by -0.5 diopters of nearsightedness (where objects in the distance look a little blurry). So I had Dr. Gormley make a pair of prescription sunglasses for me. When they arrived and I put them on, my vision was *instantly and noticeably worse* than without glasses! Everything in the distance looked blurrier than ever!I complained several times to Logan, the eye care specialist helping me, but received a strange string of Kafkaesque responses: Your eyes are just getting adjusted. Give it some time. Why dont you keep them over the weekend and let us know next week if your vision is still blurry? You wont be able to read up close with the new ones if we remake these! (I dont have close-up vision problems.) In other words, I was made to feel like my feedback was invalid for way too many minutes.Sensing something was wrong with my prescription, I insisted to see Dr. Gormley to double-check my prescription right there. Logan ducked in back to check with Dr. Gormely, who didnt even bother to come see what the matter was in-person (even though he didnt appear to be detained with a patient). After talking privately with Dr. Gormley, Logan came out and held up to my eyes a couple sets of sample corrective lenses for me to look through. By trial-and-error with these sample lenses, we immediately determined that my prescription had been made in reverse: Instead of -0.5 diopters, it was made as +0.5 diopters because that was what was erroneously marked on my chart. In other words, I was made glasses for farsightedness, the opposite condition I had!Neither Logan nor Dr. Gormley ever owned-up to this mistake. I was told to come back in 10 days after the glasses were remade. I am certain that Dr. Gormley wrote my prescription down wrong in my chart. It would be an innocent, easy enough thing to do, to transpose or confuse a - with a +. However, instead of owning up to the backroom error, the mistake was swept under the rug and played-off like nothing happened. If I hadnt been so forceful in insisting the prescription was wrong, then Logan wouldve blithely sent me out the door with glasses that were incorrect and made my vision worse! It is untenable for a medical professional to make a mistake and not own up it. If Dr. Gormley had said, Im sorry, but I think I jotted your script down wrong in your chart when I saw you last, and now we need to remake these for you now, Id still be a patient. As we placed the order for the re-made glasses, Dr. Gormley stood lackadaisically at the cash register and chatted with me about the remake process, but never owned up to either his mistake in the chart, or whoever wrote the eyeglass order down wrong. It will be the last time Ill see him. Its bad form to try to send a patient out the door complaining their new glasses make them see worse.
