I am extremely impressed by the services offered at Brooks Powers group, particularly the Incredible Years program. The group leaders are knowledgeable, warm and genuinely invested in the children and families participating in the program. One of the ways this Incredible Years program stands out among other similar programs is that they collect data before the program and after to show how much improvement has been made. They also offer lots of opportunities for individual consultation and troubleshooting. The group format is excellent because it provides more information than would be available in individual therapy, and you can collaborate with other parents. I would highly recommend this to program and Brooks Powers Group.

Limited training with children ages 8 and over. Inadequate discharge plan. Patient abandonment. Children facing challenging behaviors they do not know how to manage and will plan to discharge with giving very limited resources to family. Have very limited training with children who are non verbal and limited functional communication. Children actually have regressed working is the this group and ended in the in patient hospitals . I would highly not recommend Tom Power. Very unethical group.They cherry pick patients.

Allison Brooks could not be more wonderful to work with. I have worked with her almost seven years and she never fails to impress. Her sensitivity and care for her clients is at the highest level.

This review is in regards to the Incredible Years program offered by Brooks Powers. I cannot warn you strongly enough against enrolling in this program for the following reasons:- This is definitely a one-size-fits all program that doesn’t take into account the unique challenges of each family. Take the time to have your child thoroughly diagnosed - if there are any underlying issues at play (SPD, ADHD, ASD, etc) they will NOT be addressed or even acknowledged- There is very limited communication from the kid side of this program. We could not observe the class except in 3 - 5 minute windows and the information we got is at the 10,000 foot level, unactionable and unhelpful. When we asked for more feedback we were told they “cannot accommodate individual reports” unless we pay for an extra counseling session. Total nickel-and-diming.- Likewise the feedback we get on the parent side is unhelpful and at times insulting. One example: we were asked to spontaneously jump into child-led play at the start of a session. We did and the feedback we got via email was “you should plan out your commentary more ahead of time.”- The group leader contradicts herself. The point of the program is fluency according to her, but she also told us that she and her husband problem solve by saying “it’s IY time” and “turning it on.” So she’s not fluent despite being the group leader and apparently living this?- The group leader also told us kids like ours are her favorite to work with...yet she never had a single interaction with my son. It came as a shock to us that the child sessions are primarily interns. We only figured out who the PhD in the child room was when we complained - all communications until then come from interns, making me feel like we were there more to provide interns with credits than to help my family.- Once you’re in, you’re in. We quickly realized that it wasn’t a good fit and wanted to repurpose the money to individual therapy more geared to our childs unique needs. When we signed up we expressed concerns and were told that this was a possibility. However, when tried to change course we were told that was a “special circumstance” that doesn’t apply to us and it was too late to fill our spot with another paying family, so we can forfeit all our money OR they generously offered to sell us more services. Again – this program seems designed to eek as much money out of us as possible and I was left feeling their profits are more important than my childs well-being- We were told again and again that there are metrics for success and that the team meets weekly to discuss child progress. Yet despite repeated requests to SEE these metrics and be provided reports, we received nothing - no information on baseline metrics, how they measured our sons progress...nothingI think there are some great things IY teaches, but I believe families would be far better served going through the exercises on a 1:1 basis that actually addresses their family directly. If you have outstanding issues like developmental delays, they will go totally unaddressed which is unfortunate and given the extreme cost of the program ($5000 that our insurance did not cover).
