I met Keiji as a 15 year old child. He was tasked with fixing a TERRIBLE red & black dye job I received from someone in beauty school. Keiji returned my hair to a normal color again. I am now 37 years old & hes been the only one I trust to touch my hair for 22 years now, every 6 weeks. Ive never had a bad experience in his salon & recommend Salon Keiji to all that ask. I very much appreciate that he keeps things current by bringing in other professionals from top companies like Paul Mitchell to teach his staff new trends & the like. SO happy with my haircut and perm that Fehi did!! Had never done anything different with my hair and was nervous getting a perm, but Fehi listened and did a GREAT job and I ended up with exactly what I had wanted. Definitely recommend the salon and Fehi if you want a perm - I had thin, completely straight hair and she gave me perfect beach-wave textured hair :-)

The owner made me feel I was not welcome ! He yelled at me saying “ I am busy” when I asked if he could do haircuts for me!!!! Plus the lady did my haircut half way because she had another customer come in and kept complain about my hair “ I am not conformable to do her haircut”!!!! What the Hell! ! Yourself is not skilled and could not finish your job ,why complain customer’s hair! No wonder you are just a haircut lady!!!! Remember not to go with her! She always wear glasses and hat!!! I’ve been going to Keiji now for three years and he’s a professional! As an Asian, my hair is different and I was excited to find someone who knows how to cut Asian hair! The hair comes out really nice each time. Keiji is very busy but worth the wait!

This is a top salon! The stylists here definitely have been carefully hired. In my opinion a good stylist is someone who is an artist and loves to be creative!I know that when I leave. This salon is by far my favorite! The first time I had my hair cut here the woman did amazing. I have curly, thick hair, down to my butt. She knew exactly how to work with it.This last time I had Faye and she did amazing. Time was limited because I forgot to mention how thick and long my hair was. I don’t do hair so I don’t always remember that important fact. Faye was willing to work with me and make sure I had my cut and some color taken care of. The salon closed and we weren’t done so she stayed after to finish. I didn’t feel rushed or stressed either. When she was blow drying my hair the owner came to help with the other side, he even helped straighten it. I’ve never had two people work on my hair at the same time. The fact that the owner was willing to jump in to assist speaks a lot about him. I was thankful for both of them. My hair color turned out great and I get constant compliments. I’ve already recommended them to other people. This is definitely my favorite salon in Utah. Both Faye and the owner are great with customers and I can’t say enough positive things about them.

Went for a consultation-$200 for a root touch up for half an inch of regrowth and toner. In my opinion, that seems a bit inflated and unnecessary, especially for someone that gets their hair done as often as I do.Your reply is incorrect. The line of demarcation is not really visible with fresh toner. Although I’d prefer it to be corrected, it’s fine if it’s not. So I explained that and before I left, I asked her directly to confirm that it would be about $200 for a root touch up and one toner. So, if there was any confusion, it wasn’t on my part. Hes a gem in SLC in particular for all folks with asian hair who like great service, attention to detail and impeccable standards. I had my first haircut with Keiji over two weeks ago. I waited to leave this review because I believe the true test of the haircut quality lies in washing the hair repeatedly and styling at home (which, for me, is nothing more than a gentle blow-dry after my shower). Most haircuts cannot stand a good test of time. And what I mean by that is that once its washed after the salon visit for the first time and the straighteners effects coupled with some high end serum are flushed down the drain, my hair always tends to look a little odd. Out of place. Things dont sit quite right. At least, not like they did in that salon chair right before I paid an expensive bill.But Keijis haircut.... is like something Ive never had before. His movements seem to flow to a silent symphony that only he can hear. His artistic vantage point of view is something to behold. He is a master of his craft. My hair looks simply perfect after each wash. I cannot exaggerate his utter precision. And watching him work is a real treat. I have not seen technique like it before.I recommend this salon. Among other salons that charge a similar price, this is a very good one.

If you love fashion colors, Lou is your girl! Bex gives consistent hair cuts (shes great with my with double cowlick bangs 🙌). Everyone there is friendly and the environment is comfortable.

The salon was super a cute, clean and friendly environment. Tifany was an awesome stylist too! I knew I wanted to chop my hair off (it was at my hips) but didn’t know exactly where I wanted the hair to land. She gave me a few options and helped me visualize the cut! She was thorough and efficient. Just the right amount of time for a cut too! Will definitely go back and would definitely recommend her!

Victoria at Salon Keiji gave me one of my best haircuts ever. She started with a complete hair rinse then cut my hair exactly how I wanted. The shop was spotless and followed sensible precautions such as cleaning and sanitizing each chair after use and all staff and customers wearing appropriate face covers. I have been coming here for a about a year because I decided to stop dyeing my own hair. And when I tell you this is one of the best salons I’ve been to. The customer service is always great and I make sure to always schedule with tif she’s so sweet and makes the appointment go by so fast. She always makes sure to clarify what I want every time I go in to make sure we’re on the same page instead of just assuming she understands like a lot of stylists I’ve had do. Absolutely amazing I love when it comes time for me to have to get my hair redone!

My boyfriend and I came here for cut, bleaching, and fashion colors. Our appointment time was respected on the dot (even allowed us in a little early since we misjudged how little traffic there would be to get there). Right from the get go, everyone was extremely friendly and professional. They actually took our temps, which was nice to see. Loads of places have started slacking on covid precautions but this one clearly still believes in safety. We were both very happy with our hairdressers! I let mine know right away that I am not a super social person so she allowed me to guide the conversation. Meanwhile, my boyfriend, who is very social, was allowed to get his chatty-ness out. Bex helped me decide on my colors since ombre wasnt really going to work with the short style I wanted. She also was super helpful since I have a color shift so she let me know orange would blend better with red than yellow would. All in all, we were overwhelmingly happy with the care given during our trip to this salon! Neither of us can think of anything negative to say.EDIT AS OF JUNE 7TH 2021 : Came here to get rainbow hair dye for Pride month! Had Bex and Victoria, again. They remembered our conversations from the previous time and continued on like old friends which was so comforting! Our hair looks AWESOME. I went with a dark rainbow and my boyfriend went super bright. I am trying to figure out a way to attach a secondary photo so hopefully you can see. All in all, another 10/10 experience! We dont even live in Utah and this has become our only salon.

Ive been getting my haircut with Karly Spencer for 10+ years now and every time she gives me a cut that endures time and neglect (on my part) and still holds form after 6-8 weeks. My son and husband will only get their hair cut by her. It seems mens hairstyles that arent super short require more of a stylistic touch and experience. Shes very skilled at listening to what clients want and delivering a high quality cut and style and her prices are exceptionally reasonable. Shes also delightful to spend an hour or two with. I used to color my hair, and she was exceptional at getting it just right.

Made appointment with Keiji for today a month out to get my hair dyed and cut. Sit down in the chair to tell him what I’d like to do and he tells me he doesn’t have enough time to dye it because he has other customers scheduled today. Took a day off of work to get my hair done as a treat to myself and now it was for no reason. Shame on you Keiji!! I will not be returning.

If you want amazing color and a great cut, Lou is your lady! I have curly hair and Im pretty picky on how it gets cut because it can so easily turn to me having triangle shaped hair. First time I saw Lou, she nailed the cut & color and has nailed it every time since!

I was visiting SLC and needed a haircut due to cancer treatment. Luckily there was an opening at Kenji just when we were driving back to our hotel.Victoria listened to what I needed and took the time and care to cut off my long hair, saving the ponytails for me to take with me. She then gave me a very edgy cut that I’ve never had before. I can’t praise Victoria enough for how gently and kindly she ushered in my new hair phase. The harsh cure of cancer is nearly as traumatic as the disease itself, but for a couple of hours I got some much needed tlc.Thank you Victoria. I’ve been going to this salon for almost 20 years. I travel 200 miles. Keiji in my hair dresser. I never tell him how to cut my hair, he just cuts it how he thinks looks best. And each and every haircut I am so happy with. I have people stop me all the time and ask me who cuts my hair. They ask me this even when I need a haircut. Just had my eyebrows done by Anya. Best $ Ive ever spent. Not only did she do a fantastic job, but she had a soothing touch and I actually didnt come out looking tomato red like I usually do after waxing. My only lament is that Im only visiting the area, so I wont get to come back. They were also pretty nice about letting me come in without an appointment even though the salon looked pretty busy. Tiffany is a great hairdresser. I dont normally cut hair because I was lazy and could not find a place that can cut Asian hair. But Tiffany did a great job. I wanted a simple haircut, expecting it would be 45-60 minutes or so. She spent 1 hour and a half with great details for my hair. The result was so cute, I look amazing. I love it. Cant beat the price either. Definitely worth it.

Keiji is a nice person, but unfortunately he always gives me the feeling of being too busy to want to cut my hair. Every time I would want to book him he would say he is booked 2 months out and would recommend someone else. I understand this, but the feeling I felt was always, I dont want to cut your hair its a pain please stop booking me, I get booked too much. (He never verbally said this, but the feeling was there). To make it worse, the hair stylist he recommended to cut my hair did a horrible job. I cant believe she is even working there! Wow - no talent whatsoever at making your hair come to life. Cut it way too short. I even showed her a clear picture of what I wanted and told her please dont cut it short. If you cant do it just say so! That sealed the deal that I wont be back. Theres a reason I always wanted to book Keiji - he knows how to cut my hair!! I would hope next time a client tries to book you, happily help with the booking, even if you are a couple months out. If a client wants to book you, theres a reason for that, so please stop recommending other people.

Worse Experience Ever!! If I could give them a 0 I would. Asked to have it at shoulder length and it ends up a quarter inch below my ear. To much to write about. Just a horrible experience.

I drive 45 minutes one way to this Salon, I get an all over color, cut and style and have never been disappointed. Joyce is professional and knows my hair more than I even do. She knows what’s right and treats me kindly. I love her head, neck massages when she washes my hair. I will continue to come back and I highly recommend Joyce.

I also got my color done and the stylist was fantastic, I felt like my hair was in good hands and it felt healthy after everything was done. Lou is my favorite hair stylist. Shes able to take my half formed ideas and translate them into amazing haircuts from light brown to blonde that didnt go brassy, fashion color streaks in my favorite colors, and chopping off 6+ for a badass bob. Not to mention, my hair is always silky smooth when shes done. I moved to Maine recently and I now plan my trips back to SLC around when I know Ill need a haircut so I can continue to see Lou because I dont trust anyone else to cut and color my hair.

I have never been here to get my hair done. I only go see their aesthetician Anna who does my eyebrows. She is absolutely the best at what she does. My eyebrows always turn out perfect and I get so many compliments on them. I will not let anyone else touch them! She also offers an array of other services...like facials etc. She is the best.

I had the best haircut of my life. It’s definitely very pricey compared to other places, but it’s worth every penny. I’m Japanese American and many places aren’t very great at cutting thick Asian hair, but this place does it right.

Kirstin was great! I went in here worried about how my hair was gonna turn out because it was my first time with Kirstin. Well, she did great! Listened and gave me exactly the cut I wanted. I am Polynesian so that means I have crazy thick and long hair. I wanted a cut that was different. Short layers and some thinning done and Kirstin gave me exactly that. I love the staff, stylists and owner of Salon Keiji! They are second to none. Ive been coming here since I was 17, and my stylist helped me when I had Psoriasis on my scalp. Not only did she manage to color my hair without making me feel pain (a HUGE feat in and of itself), but she made me feel more confident and helped make recommendations to save my hair during my time of sickness and embarrassment. To Christian, who wrote the negative review about the stylist you saw... My recommendation to you would be to clearly communicate your vision of what you want, and also remember that its never smart to get a drastic haircut before a big event. While its devastating that you couldnt pull your hair into a ponytail after having a haircut that you requested, there are far worse things in life. This salon is professional, the stylist you refer to is highly experienced and has a waiting list for her talents. When expectations dont meet results, that can only be blamed by a lack of clear communication. I will continue to come to Salon Keiji and keep referring my friends as well, because they have my trust and full confidence. Keep doing what youre doing, because I love you guys!

This place is the worst. I had been growing my hair out for 10 months. It had become a huge part of who I was. I went in for a small trim to make it grow more and look good for my sisters wedding. The messed me up. The cut into under an inch on the sides, just short enough on the top so that it couldnt fit in a pony tail and in the back left a mullet. I am currently trying to get the stylist fired. NEVER go here. They ruined all the work I had done and a week before my sisters wedding. I am destroyed over this.

So I am going to leave this comment here very reasonably and based on facts not to troll just because I don’t want this to happen other people . I have paid 350$ for japanese hair straightening plus tips I thought it was really going work for how expensive it is and owner was there unfortunately if didn’t work I had to call and tell them they were nice and had me back there again I had to drive 40 min each way and it takes about 2 hour . It still didn’t work the second time my hair is super dry and wavy wasted my time and money Myself is a small business owner I make sure every costumer is happy and that’s is the most important aspect of business I believe I didn’t appreciate the fact that they didn’t follow up ! Now I have this super dry long wavy hair from the chemicals that they did I had to do something by myself because they took my money and messed up my hair and never called me . If you are planning to go there for hair straightening treatment don’t it will be waste of your time and money

I love this place! Its very classy and I never have to wait for my stylist ... Shes always on time or very close to it. Ask for Allie!!! She gives a great cut and does what I ask ... While warning me if theres something I requested that she thinks I might regret.

My boyfriend is VERY picky about how is hair is cut, and the woman whom cut his hair, did the most perfect job I have ever seen!!! My stylist Faye, you just need to ask for her shes so meticulous and she makes she she does the job right!!! I havent gone into a salon in probably five years because Ive always been afraid of bad haircuts. Youll never have a bad one here. Just come here. Its amazing. 💚👌🏻

Kenji salon is the greatest salon I have ever experienced. In the past I have gotten my hair done in high-end salons in Chicago. No comparison to what kenji is able to do with hair. I am so picky—I never ever worry when I am in the precise hands of kenji. My color is exquisite and the cut is amazing. And further, my color maintains and the cut falls into place every time. I get so many compliments and give so many referrals. He books fast but always works with you if you have urgency on your calendar. However, Kenji is well worth the wait. I am happy to finally find a great place to cut my hair in SLC. Keiji did a good job on my hair even though he was busy answering the phone while cutting my hair. Its pricey (75$) but worth it.

I recently moved to Salt Lake and decided to try this salon after reading great reviews. I was very pleased with the products and the professionalism. My stylist was Carlie and she nailed my color and cut!

I called ahead to ask if they could do a two block haircut. They said yes, but it wasnt at all what he wanted. Hes very disappointed. UPDATE: The owner called and offered to make things right. I appreciate that.

Salon was super busy when I walked in without a appointment but the manager and a color specialist named Ramzey managed to squeeze me in and help me out. She cut my hair and dyed it beautifully and she was so patient and sweet. Ramzey kept a good conversation with me. I really appreciated Ramzey, all the employees, and customers especially for not minding me breastfeeding my daughter while the dye set into my hair.
