I went to Isabella back in October with a groupon discount that included cut, conditioning treatment, and blow dry. There were aesthetic problems that I will mention, but my one-star review is solely based on quality of the cut and multiple customer service issues.TL,DR: place is far from best practices, there needs to be more than one stylist to keep scheduling from being a hassle, the stylist is a good listener but cant cut for her life. There should be at least one receptionist who can speak fluent English.Store appearance: While generally clean, there was one section of the store that was mid-construction, where a new cutting/styling station was being installed. Thats understandable. However, dust etc. spilled out into the floor. Didnt appreciate that. The wash: The woman who shampooed my hair wore plastic gloves. It tugged on my hair a ton, especially when rinsing out the shampoo. I didnt feel comfortable asking her to take them off because I assumed she was wearing them for germ reasons, plus she didnt speak English well and I was unsure how to politely communicate my discomfort, but I dont recall ever having someone use plastic gloves when washing my hair. It also made the massage part extremely painful.Conditioning treatment: The actual product left my hair very smooth and shiny, but I was kind of just lead over from the shampooing sink to the hair heater/dryer without being told why or how long Id be there. It took me a minute to realize, oh, they must be setting in the conditioning treatment. While I was sitting there, the woman who shampooed my hair told the stylist that the shampooing sink was broken. The stylist/owner walked over and tried to jam the broken piece back on. It didnt fully go on. The stylist said something to the effect of just leave it.The cut: I told the stylist my concerns and preferences-- split ends, trying to grow my hair out, wanted layers vs a straight cut. She listened and worked with me on what I wanted. The cut itself took about only ten minutes. That in itself was pretty terrifying. However, when she blow dried it, it looked pretty nice, so I went home. The next day, when I washed my hair and let it air dry, I got to see how incredibly choppy the layers were. There was no transition/blending between them. My hair looked like stacked rectangles. I called back to schedule a touch-up.Touch-up appointment scheduling: The woman who answered my call didnt fully speak English and wasnt able to understand that I was scheduling a corrective cut and shouldnt have to pay nor should I need to block in a full hour for shampooing, etc., and wouldnt let me talk to the stylist/owner to discuss it. But I scheduled anyway because I knew the stylist (who fully speaks English) would be able to figure out-- plus I really wanted my hair to look better and to give the salon a second chance. I had to wait about two weeks for the appointment.Touch-up appointment: I had a voice mail the morning of my appointment telling me the appointment had been cancelled due to a family emergency. Family emergencies happen; I get that. I called to reschedule. I was told the stylist would be out for a month, and that she is the only stylist for the whole place. At that point, I gave up and went elsewhere. I will definitely not be going back.
I love this salon. I have had the best service everytime I go. I have had 2 major hair changes here: first having my hair short for the very first time like a year ago and recently I decided to color it which I have never done before either and I loooove it... Margarita is the best at what she does, excelent customer service and moreover a very very happy customer.
