My dog is super anxious and the groomer he works with is pure magic. I can tell by his stomach because it’s completely even. He feels extremely comfortable with her. My baby bid a rescue and my whole world. I greatly appreciate how Life of Riley is very client centered. Literally I live in Virginia and commute here because of the amazing staff!

WARNING: My dog sustained an injury while at Life of Riley. Here is my story: We brought our cavalier here for grooming on 10/15/21. I had made the appointment 1 week earlier. When my husband arrived for the appointment, the staff told him they had no appointment scheduled for us. Whoever had booked the appointment confirmed it with me but must have forgetten to save it? Staff were able to squeeze us in; however, I now regret that they did. When the groomer called and told us our dog was ready, she said she noticed he had been squinting a lot. We thought OK, maybe some shampoo got in his eye, no big deal.Days later, our dog was still squinting and discharge was coming out of his eyes. We took him to the vet and they diagnosed him with a DEEP CORNEAL ULCER. He had to have a special serum made of out of his own blood to treat the ulcer. Clearly something happened while he was at Life of Riley. Our dog had no eye issues before dropping him off. This place always seems too busy with not enough staff. We believe another dog must have scratched our dogs eyes while at Life of Riley. We are extremely disappointed with the staff here. The environment does not seem safe. On top of that, everytime we dropped him off for grooming, it would take 4-6 hours for him to be ready. Weve used other groomers who were always done within an hour. Something isnt right about how they do business here.

We just moved to the area and needed a place to board our blind rescue. Life of Riley was fantastic for her. They really showed her love and that’s so important to me. I took her in a few months later for grooming and Daisy Mae was remembered by everyone. That says a heck of a lot about their love of dogs.

As my wife noted in a separate review, we are deeply upset with the lack of professionalism of this business. They did not properly reserve our appointment and also overbook appointments. When our dog was returned he was squinting and we recently learned from a vet he sustained a corneal ulcer. We were pleased with their grooming work which is why we have used them in the past but we will not be returning.

I called Life of Riley early morning in regards to getting my dog groomed. Staff was friendly, explained to me how to schedule an appointment. Able to book an appointment for that very morning. I have a big dog (Cane Corso) and they took great care of him. Looked, smelled, felt great and pricing was very reasonable!

BEWARE.CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE DOG YOU ARE PICKING UP IS IN FACT ***YOUR*** dog.Today I parked and walked in to pick up my dog and he was already in the lobby- seconds away from going home with another person. The employee at the register apologized for the mix up, but seemed more concerned about a glitch happening on her computer and how much tip I intended to leave.We have been pleased with the quality of grooming at this location, and have sent our dog in several times for a haircut. Until now, we were pleased with the quality of cut and our dog seemed happy enough at pickup so we had no concerns.Since they take the dogs collars off when they arrive, and they just about sent my beloved family dog HOME WITH A STRANGER, I do not think that they have a way of keeping track of the pets in their care.I will not be sending my dog back. I genuinely question their organizational abilities and professionalism.

My husband and I just adopted our first dog together, and we really didn’t have any idea how badly his fur was matted. Dipper looks amazing now, and we can tell he had a great experience. The groomer was also very helpful in providing information to keep him tidy between appointments. Thanks so much! We will definitely be back.

I am so happy with the grooming department, Nicole and everyone else were great with Sasha who is not the best behaved while getting groomed. Sasha also looked like a showdog what a great job by the team!!

I moved here last year before the pandemic and I hadn’t had a chance to find Pierre a barber in the area. They did an amazing job with Pierre and had him finished in a short amount of time. I’m very satisfied with his haircut.

Life of Riley was our go-to for our dog for about 2 years, until recently. The staff were wonderful. They knew our faces, knew our dog, and loved him like their own. But then in the recent months, we noticed high staff turnover. We went from recognizing all the staff members to none at all. Sometimes we saw a staff person and havent seen them a second time. Staff were leaving left and right and, for me, that has always been a big red flag for businesses. Staff happiness is important and if theyre leaving, something is not right.Prices went up! We purchased 10 class package for our dog and that has been $350 for as long as we can remember. If you go to the website now, its $500, which is a huge increase! Webcams dont work consistently, which is one of the reasons we like having our dog come here. Bath prices went up from $45 to $60. Quite frankly, this is very disappointing. Our dog loves coming here, but its way too expensive. And now with such high staff turnover and increasing prices, its hard to trust your leaving your loved one here. Well be going elsewhere.Really miss all the wonderful staff who used to work here! They all greeted us when we came with our dog, they seemed happy, and now when you come in, no one seems happy. They dont even know our dogs name or that he is a regular. Its really disappointing.

Life of Riley has been a great place for our pup to spend time while were out of town. Theyre courteous and really seem to love the dogs theyre caring for.

Very happy with the work done on our pup. He came home from his appointment happy and relaxed and, most importantly, unharmed. This has been a problem for us with other groomers. Tiny cuts on his paws and other hard-to-cut areas. But none of that here. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was out first visit and we messed up the drop-off and pick-up times but the folks here were very understanding and let it slide. The facilities also appear to be well maintained and clean. Overall we are super happy doing business here and will definitely be back. The great thing about this place is that they also offer other services like boarding and training. So far 5-stars!

This place loves my dog, and he loves it back. The entire staff is consistently friendly & helpful. The facility is clean, well staffed, and the dogs are properly exposed to both indoor and outdoor play spaces. They crate the dogs minimally and do a good job of training (Ian is terrific).

Perfect from start to finish- wonderful communication! They are so friendly, professional, knowledgeable, accommodating, great at their craft and knowledge of dogs. My very furry Malamute’s grooming was impeccable! He looks and feels great! Return customers for sure.

Economical, Personal, and Professional. You simply will not find another grooming service like this. When I walked in, I was taken back by the friendly service toward the dogs. The dogs were playing outside, inside, walking around. They were free to play, as children are at a daycare. It made me feel that I could trust them. The grooming was quicker then expected, nearly half the price I thought it would be, and well done. When I picked my Phoebe up, she came trotting out after playing, and wasnt trembling as if she was locked in a cage or tied to a leash the whole time.As a military member, my dog is nearly all I have, knowing I can trust this facility to care for her like I do, is important to me. When I was leaving the facility, two staff members were discussing how they are going to miss some of the dogs when they return to work, and their owners will reclaim them. You simply can not buy or sell that kind of service. If they would of charged me double the price, I would of paid it. Although Im glad they didnt.

We had a wonderful first visit. Life of Riley was recommended by our vet for our 5 month old puppy. The groomer was very caring, and he looked absolutely adorable when he was done. He was so happy and calm when we picked him up. You could tell he was comfortable there, which is saying a lot since hes normally just with our family. The staff was in communication with me before and during our visit, sending me a photo to make sure I was happy with the haircut. And in general, everyone seemed happy to work there and to be with the dogs. We will definitely be back!

Literally everyone is so friendly starting with the receptionist even over the phone. You can tell everyone there LOVES dogs which is good to see/know because I get nervous about leaving my dog with new people. My dog went for a wash and dry; she came out happy, clean, and with a new bandana!

The groomers at Life of Riley are great! Our dogs always leave looking like new pups, and more importantly, they’re happy. Our Husky is an older dog and our Aussie has major anxiety - grooming and vet appointment are a struggle - but they always seem content to visit Life of Riley. The groomers are very patient and accommodating of our Aussie and his special needs, giving him breaks whenever needed. I highly recommend life of Riley for grooming!

Great 1st visit.

I am so happy I found Life of Riley for my golden doodle Tony! I tried several groomers before finding them. I will never go to another. From the first time I entered the premises, they were so clean, they smelled more like a day spa than dog daycare-boarding-groomer. Tony received such a beautiful cut from Betty the first time and she continued to groom him for subsequent cuts with the same perfection. Now, Brittany has taken over the reigns and her cuts mirror Betty’s. I am extremely happy with the care and attention he’s always given. I receive a text complete with his picture when he is ready to be picked up. I could not be more pleased and have recommended them to all of my neighbors and friends. My daughter works a doggie daycare and has also recommended Life of Riley to their clients.

Recently got a toy poodle. His first bubble bath with Brittany went great. I appreciated her answering my questions as a new pet owner. She let me know how he was doing during the service and sent a picture once he was finished.

My first 2 visits were great. The 3rd visit they did not do the deshedding shampoo even though I specifically mentioned it when booking the appointment and the groomer was rude when I brought it up saying “it wasn’t on her sheet” and just walking away. They offered me a discount for my next visit which I never got and didn’t feel like arguing for. For the 4 visit I made sure to go over everything when dropping Phoebe off and sure enough they did not have her down for the deshedding. When picking her up the lady at the front desk mentioned how timid Phoebe was, which was odd since I’ve never gotten that feedback from anyone before. They told me to wait outside and the would bring her out in a few minutes. They just opened the door and let her run out with no leash or collar, luckily she ran right to me but could have easily taken off or there could have been a car. The next morning I woke up to her having diarrhea all over my living room, and having to take her out every 2 hours for the next day and a half and it hasent stopped yet. I called 8 times and left a message from 8:30-3:30 before someone would answer the phone. They swear they did not give her anything to eat and it must be caused by stress, but I really don’t think that’s the full story because this didn’t happen after her previous 3 visit. Something happened and they are not being truthful. I will not be bring her back.

My dog absolutely loves her daycare here! I get nervous at dog parks because of the unknown but this place is amazing for making sure all the dogs get along, and the thing that I really appreciate is that someone is always watching the dogs. The staff is so welcoming and you can tell they really love what they do. I get distracted at work a lot looking at their webcams and seeing how much fun my pup is having

I was extremely pleased with the job Nicole did on my poodle, Teddy. I presented her with a picture and Teddy received the exact cut in that picture. Also, he was done before I was told he’d be ready for pick up.As promised, I was sent a picture of Teddy when his cut was done & asked if he looked acceptable or if I saw any adjustments that needed to be made. I was very impressed with the entire process at Life of Riley!

The staff is peppy, attentive, and accommodating. They are ALWAYS happy & kind both on the phone & in person. My dog is 30 lbs and she teeters between big dog play & smaller/shyer dog play. The staff noticed right away & called during the day to ask if she was allowed in the big dog side. Depending on the day they’ll put her on either. Their perception to her mood bodes very well & let’s me know they’re paying attention to the dogs needs. They also alert me if she is having issues. Doesn’t happen often, but a recent example was they suggested sending some food with her during the day bc she got an upset stomach most likely related to getting hungry. I really appreciated that.

I come here every month and my pup is always super happy.

Life of Riley did a remarkable job! This was the first cut of our puppy and we were a bit hesitant finding a quality groomer. We were referred by several friend to Riley and we are very pleased. They are very thorough and customer oriented. Our puppy came back looking beautiful! We could not ask for a better experience.

Not sure whats going on with LOR. Weve been a customer for years and our latest experience has been very disappointing. We have two dogs that weve been boarding with LOR. During their last stay in June 2021, we noticed a lot of things go wrong.First of all the webcams are no longer working. We used to able to see our dogs play, but that stopped. We no longer received daily updates from the staff with pictures of our dogs. We called and the staff said that the cameras have not been working and that they apologized that we werent getting updates and that they would make sure we received them each day. We never received any updates.When we went to pick up our dogs after the weeklong stay, our lab stunk of what could best be described as a pungent moldy odor. She loves the water, as most labs do, but they never dried her off. It looks like she was put in her room wet every day and in the cold. We had to use a deskunk shampoo to eliminate the odor on her body.Next problem was even worst! The day after we picked her up we noticed a mucus discharge from her nose and a white discharge from her left eye. She was gagging and threw up a couple of times. She even didnt want to eat, which in a lab is a sign of a serious illness. I took her to a vet hospital and they diagnosed it as an upper respiratory infection, for which they prescribed antibiotics and eye ointment. Our dog has never had anything like this before and shes 10 years old. Fortunately, after several days (and a few $$$$ later) it cleared.I also noticed that when we picked up our dogs that there was a totally different vibe. There appears to be a new manager running the place. We used to receive a warm welcome when we dropped off and picked up our dogs, but that did not happen this time. I called to voice my concerns and was told that I would receive an email with instructions on where to submit my concerns to corporate. I never received the email.

I have been bringing my dog to Life of Riley since 2016 though she hasn’t been there since June 2019. Yesterday we took her for a day of play and as soon as we turned the corner she knew exactly where she was even after all that time! Tail wagging she pulled to go inside and after 4 hours of play, came home, ate dinner and slept until the next day! Surely she had an amazing time. I love this place. So clean and people are friendly and I love that they have cameras on at all times so you can watch your fur baby! Highly recommend this place.

Brought my 18 week-old puppy, Brady here for his first groomer visit. Opted for the “partial groom” so that he could get used to the experience before having a full cut. Brittany met us by the front window and was so patient walking us through the process; we felt confident leaving Brady in her hands. When we returned, she met us in the front again and let us know how he did, what he had trouble with, when to return next. She was wonderful and Brady didn’t want to leave lol! Also, other staff members we ran into were so kind and interested in petting Brady - they seemed like doggie people who love their jobs :) We will definitely be back!

Im a new dog mom to the cutest little ball of fur, my Bichon Frise Yoshi Bean. I was in search of puppy training classes and after checking out a few places in the DMV, I decided upon Life of Rileys 5 week Puppy Daycare and Train program. The class fills up fast at both locations, but we were able to get into the Sept class at the Rockville location. We just finished our first week and Yoshi had a blast on his first day. He had so much fun playing with the other doggies and learning new skills. Ian the trainer and all of the staff are wonderful and you can tell they love what they do. I also like that LOR offers other services such as grooming and boarding so I can go to one spot for all Yoshis non vet needs. We will be having Yoshis first grooming appointment next week!

What an amazing place to send my pup! This was our second visit and there will be many more to come! Boarding and bathing has both been a hit!

I really appreciate Life of Riley and how they care so much about the well being of the dogs they care for.Our dog had behavioral issues that we have been workin on for months.Our experience with a DIFFERENT daycare:The first trainer we spoke to told us to bring him to their daycare to get him used to other dogs, so we brought him to their daycare. We brought him twice (plus an evaluation day) and both times he came home stressed out so we decided it wasn’t right and tried another trainer. Each time we asked how our dog did, reminding them that we knew he had issues and only went on the recommendation of their trainer, and each time they said he was great. We couldn’t tell if the daycare was telling us the truth or not because he always came home stressed out but ultimately decided it wasn’t the right place for our dog. It felt like they valued headcount over the well being of our dog.Our experience with LIFE OF RILEY: Our second trainer was great and we worked with her for some time. Eventually we asked about doggy daycare and she recommended life of Riley’s cozy room because it was small dogs and said they were very attentive. So we brought our dog on a slow day. During the evaluation, our dog was great. When we dropped him off for daycare, we found out he was good with the people but had trouble with the other dogs. They openly offered this information and told us before we could even ask. Their response was very different from the first daycare we brought our dog to. Their honesty was important to us and very much appreciated. Especially because of the pandemic, it must be very hard for a business to basically reject our business...but they did so for the well being of our dog (and they did so respectfully). They gave us recommendations that have really helped us with our dog and we are slowly finding what works best for him, partly based off of their suggestion.Our second dog seemed to like it there and we will bring him back for daycare. It is a cute place with friendly people.I truly believe this place cares about their dogs and cares about nurturing long term business relationships.

I have been a customer since 2018, and I’ve been recommending this place to all my close doggy parents. This place is amazing, the staff is always friendly and they always welcome your furry child with open arms (It feels homey)The staff is professional, reliable and most importantly the grooming appt are economical, I use to go to petsmart and 9/10 times pick up my girl and be slightly disappointed with the service. I have not tried the boarding or daycare services yet but I know when I do my girl will be in good hands!

I’ve never had a bad experience with Life of Riley in Rockville. We’ve taken my brothers dog there for a groom as well as referred a family friends dog there for a groom and just recently took my puppy there for a full groom and I’m absolutely satisfied with their work! They gave my little cockapoo such a nice haircut and had her smelling so good! I will be bringing my puppy Back there for her grooming for sure! :)

My puppy will not let me get near her to cut her nails and she’s terrified of the bath. I decided to let the professionals handle it and I’m so glad I did. The staff at life of Riley were able to accomplish both tasks without a problem. Miracle workers! Will definitely be going back!

Second time visiting with our puppy’s groomer at Life of Riley was 2 Saturday’s ago. Our puppy, Sophie has never looked this adorable in the most unique way. Thanks to the magic touch by Betty. Betty is an amazing groomer. She has been patient with us being that we are first time puppy owners. She made sure we were comfortable with us dropping our Sophie off to pick her up later. She also answered all our questions. Our puppy Sophie is a ball of energy and doesn’t do well without our presence but somehow Betty managed to give her the most beautiful poodle/retriever look that just blew our minds away. One thing we noticed is that Life of Riley love doggies. You feel the love from the moment you walk in. Great customer service, clean place. very warm environment but most of all excellent service. Will never look elsewhere!!

My fur babies are very well cared for when they are boarded and groomed here. They also have lots of fun at daycare with the other dogs. These people are very attentive and they truly love animals. I am always at ease when I have to leave my babies overnight.

This was a great experience. I had been looking for a new groomer and Life of Riley was an excellent find. The front desk staff was responsive, and welcoming. The facility is conveniently located for me. The groomer was pleasant and put my dog and me at ease immediately. She listened to my preferences and delivered an excellent job. At last, weve found our new groomer.

They did a great job bathing my dog, who the vet said needed a trainer because he was aggressive and had bitten another groomer. They were a pleasure to deal with and were highly recommended by my vet. I look forward to using them in the future.

They are so sweet to my dog. He is old and a big baby so I was nervous about taking him to be washed but he has been twice now and didnt fight me about going in the second time, which is a huge endorsement from him! He seems really happy afterward and looks great! He cries if you just look at his ears or his nails, and never liked me giving him a bath so Im sure he isnt the best client, but they never give even the smallest hint of a complaint about him. Wonderful people who clearly love dogs. Very highly recommend!

I have an 15 month Yorkshire and not easy to leave him just anywhere he tell you exactly what he don’t like by sleeping two day and not eating at all. I was thrilled to find Life of Riley to take my stinky beagle for a mani-pedi and bubble bath. From the lovely woman who answered the phone to the email communications preparing for our first visit to drop off and pick up, the attention and service were top notch. It was also interesting to see the trainer interact with another customer -- how he answered questions so thoughtfully. I felt that Betty, the groomer, took a personal interest in my old girl and gave her special TLC. I will absolutely be back and may very well try the doggie day care services in the future. We love Life of Riley but more importantly, our dog Beau does! He gets so excited when we pull up. They do a great job in matching compatable dogs for free play. We also use their spa services so Beau comes home clean and smeeling great! Love this place!!

Betty has transformed our 75 lb golden-doodle Tony each and every visit for grooming. When we arrive, everyone is happy to see him, an added bonus. This is not your average groomer! I brought in my older dog, Phoebe, who has never been to a groomer before. She got the bubble bath and furminator (soak & massage). They did a wonderful job, she is a very nervous dog and they took their time and were even able to clip her nails and clean her ears, which I didn’t think was going to be possible. Every staff member I spoke with was super nice and helpful. I will definitely be bringing Phoebe back to them.

Life of Riley is fantastic whether you use the daycare, boarding, or grooming services! The staff is extremely courteous and professional and always take great care of our two golden retrievers! Betty did an excellent job grooming our 6 month oldGoldendoodle. The staff at Life of Riley are responsive, professional, and seem to genuinely enjoy interacting with the dog. Facility was clean and despite being very busy for the holiday weekend, did not smell like “dog”. Definitely recommend!

We have been using Life of Riley for two years now. It has a wonderful experience each time. We have two dogs and use them every 5-6 weeks. Would highly recommend them to anyone.

The site is very clean and there were no off-putting smells like some other dog day care centers. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I was impressed by their electronic check-in process and the venue itself truly looks like a spa. My only issue was despite providing feeding instructions via check in and during drop off, my dog eas fed all of the food at once versus splitting it between 2 meals and I had to wait 10 mins at the front desk at pick up despite ringing the service bell and calling the phone. Also a small container which held the wet food was not given back to me at pick up. A less than ideal first experience.
