Just know that this office will be quick to outfit you with overpriced braces etc. without giving you any warning that this may or may not be covered by your insurance or hit your deductible. So either be very well versed in your insurance coverages before you walk into their office or if the situation is not very dire make sure to carefully check your insurance before allowing them to outfit you with any gear sold by them. This is a business first and patient care center second operation.

I have never had a more hopeless, dismissive, and uncaring appointment in my life. I waited over three weeks to have this follow-up, didnt even meet with Dr. Shrout for more than five minutes, and left feeling like Id been told too bad, so sad. I cried afterward and now have no idea what to do to about this neck, back, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands, and fingers pain Ive been dealing with since October 2020. Maybe other people have had great experiences here but I personally did not.

Ive been a patient here in the past, though havent had need of their services recently. My mom fell down yesterday and her preferred doctor works at this office. After the fall, she called to schedule an appointment for today at 3 PM. They didnt escort her to the exam room until 3:35. As I write this, I received a text from her indicating the doctor hasnt begun her exam yet as hes with another patient. This is a common experience at Shady Grove Ortho. They habitually overbook patients. The doctors seem competent, but DO NOT EVER expect that youll be seen on time here. They dont seem to have any concept of punctuality. Thats the primary reason for my 1-star review.

Only went once for a hand issue, but I didnt experience any of the problems the previous reviews mentioned. The front staff was very polite and offered to help me above and beyond what I expected. The doctor did a quick physical exam of my hand, downloaded/reviewed my x-rays, treated my hand, and answered my many questions quickly... All that and the staff got me out the door within 40 minutes of my appointment time. I was impressed.

Waiting for an hour and a haft still no doctor yet. Have time to read reviews for this place and it is very consistent with many previous reviews. The doctors probably great, but the management has no respect for people time. Either they dont care what people are saying or not look at people comments at all. This disregard for people time has been going on for long time. I am consider of walking out, but my kid is in pain. Will find other place next time there are many good medical facilities in DC area.

This is one of the worst medical practices I have ever been to. We were referred here by our pediatrician because our son needed a cast for a broken arm. My wife took him back in to the room and they cast the wrong arm! My wife was frantic in the moment because he was being fussy so she wasnt really paying attention to the procedure to notice which arm they were casting until they were done. I called to even ask them how this happened in the first place and the doctor was super rude to me on the phone. Then he tried to tell me it was my wifes fault because she didnt say anything. As if it isnt their job to read the chart and put on the actual cast. needless to say we cancelled our appointment and when I asked if its possible that they dont bill our insurance for this the doctors response was you will absolutely be billed WHAT A JOKE OF A PRACTICE.

Had 4 surgeries performed by 3 different doctors at this practice. Very knowledgeable group and they have successfully put this old guy back together again. My only warning is to watch the pain killers prescribed. They seem to like prescribing Oxycontin for pain. Be careful with that drug if you decide to go with it.

I have been very disappointed with the practice. I had my left hip replaced and that was fine, however when it was time for me to get the right one done I was treated very differently. I was told I did not need it as it was my back. Got sent to get a back MRI and that did not solve the problem. I waited another year to go back as the pain was worse. I was told yet again it was my back and sent to Spine and pain clinic to get an injection in my lower back. This was in June. Thanks to the Doctor at the pain clinic it was determined that it was never my back and indeed my hip. I have been in pain not able to walk much since July and now I have found another surgeon who will do the operation shortly. But I did a lot of damage to my joints in 6 months when there was no reason to wait. On the other hand the Physical therapy is excellent.

I had a great experience with Dr. Sudheer Reddy and his staff. After years of suffering with my foot pain, I went to my initial consultation and then he sent me for an MRI in order to know how to approach the procedure and then he explained to me what he could do and how he could approach the procedure and went from there. The surgery was a great success I would highly recommend him and his staff and I have already. R Saxon.

Poor planning skills and lack of respect! They keep you waiting in a room. I had to go three times for my son. Minimum waiting time is one hour. In the third I left without seeing the doctor after 75 minutes waiting. They took an x-ray every time for a small crack in thumb. It is another question mark. I am sure there are better orthopedists in the region.

The worst administration. There is no coordination within the office and as a result the patients suffer. It seems there are many different answers to the same question. If you try to get clarification they become belligerent and difficult. Employees have been allowed to kick back and treat patients with little or no respect. This lack of customer service comes at a price, doctors. Those at the front of your office represent you and they effect your reputation.

I wont be visiting here solely based on the rude receptionist I spoke with on the phone. I work as a front desk receptionist so I know how one should be treated over the phone and I was not treated as a new patient or any patient should be. When I was asked my name, I gave my last name first and then spelled it out as I always do. The receptionist rudely and abruptly responded I know how to spell (my last name). She then followed with, mine is Vasquez, (or something a long the lines of that), so Id know. Which I guess she was referring to knowing how to spell a Spanish last name, again inappropriate in my opinion and not in a nice/friendly tone. Even if she was thinking that, she should have never said that to me in a rude manner and should have just took down my name and continued with scheduling. Continuing to speak with her just made me not want to visit this place if thats how the first person I interact with is. She wasnt professional throughout the conversation and made me feel like I was bothering her for trying to schedule an appointment. I think this place should reevaluate who theyre having come in contact with their patients considering there are multiple bad reviews about their front desk staff.

After having a splint for 3 weeks, Ive decided to go back for my second visit to get a cortisone shot. Just like some of the reviewers here, I had to wait an hour. The doctor only spent 5 minutes with me. Literally just came in and left. What kind of upset me was, there was no apology or explanation (was at least expecting, I apologize for the wait). In the end, the cortisone shot didnt resolve my wrist injury (doc warned me about this on my 2nd visit). The only solution I got was to wear the splint... Unfortunately, still hurting after 2-3 months.

I have been coming to this practice over a year or so . Dr Bender is an excellent doctor very well known in the area .I gave two stars due to the front desk staff .Some of them are the most unprofessional, extremely rude ,bad attitude and flat out nasty the way they speak to people along with the loud conversations they have at the front desk They need to be retained on what a customers service is all about .If I have quarter of their bad attitude I would been got fired .They should learn from Max , he is a gentleman, patient, respectful, courteous, always has a smile on his face regardless how busy the office can be and professional .I wish everyone like him so THANK YOU . Also, the PT staff are outstanding ,hard working, polite and respectful.Office manager should address this type of behavior because it gives a bad impression and bad rating for such outstanding practice .Thank you for reading

I wish I could say I was doing something cool, like skydiving.. but the truth is that I was out for a run when a pesky walnut attacked my ankle. Shady Grove Orthopaedics was recommended to me by a co-worker - by day 2, when the swelling hadnt gone down, I gave them a call. They squeezed me in immediately. I wound up seeing Dr. Hampton and he was great (even giving me auxiliary details about the bone structure in my foot & how it differs if youre an athlete - which I found to be quite interesting!). Dr. Hampton thoroughly explained the ligament and tendon issues in my foot and shared the x-rays with me to provide a visual of what I was experiencing. He was detailed, but to the point. Everyone in the office was extremely helpful throughout my entire visit. I feel confident that my ankle (and the future of my running hobby) is in good hands.

Ive had an appointment with Dr. Tuck - the check-in process (I did the paper route) was quick and easy; I was called to the room pretty quickly and the doctor came in pretty quick as well. Dr Tuck manner was pleasant and his explanations clear and matter-of-fact. The only miscue was that my blood pressure as measured was extremely high and Im the only one who noticed that and had to bring it up myself. Re-measured it later in a different location later and it was fine, so, maybe a faulty device? Bottom line, they took a measurement but didnt really care what it was.

I was referred to Dr. Tuck by Potomac Pediatrics for an evaluation of my 5 year-old child. He kept us waiting for 75 minutes before attending to us. Though Dr. Tuck appears to be competent (from the 7 minutes we spent with him), his performance in no way justified the wait time. Frankly, there are plenty of other pediatric orthopedists who could have done just as well while respecting the patients schedule. If you do decide to go with Shady Grove Orthopaedics for your young child, you should prepare for the possibility that you both will be trapped in an examination room for an extended period of time.

I read some of the reviews posted and have to say I was quite annoyed because they are not all helpful. Some gave the practice low ratings because of wait times or front office staff. While I agree those are things to consider, they dont speak to the MEDICAL care and if you only had one experience, why give the practice bad ratings? Anyways, off my soapbox. Also when you rate the WHOLE practice off of ONE DOCTOR thats not helpful either. OK, really off the soapbox now.I visited the practice in September 2017 with a bone on bone arthritis, in really bad shape and pain. I wound up being see by Dr. Hampton. From the very beginning he was kind, patient, LISTENED to what I was telling him as what I experienced, what courses of treatment I had tried etc. The determination was quickly made that I needed a replacement. From that point from the scheduling, to the pre-authorizations, to the actual surgery itself, the follow-up manipulation that I had to have done, the AWESOME physical therapy staff, I have been nothing but pleased.I know its over a year later that I am writing this and part of that is because my dealing with the practice is primarily over so I can write this from having a cradle to grave point of view of the practice. I found no one rude or unprofessional. I found the medical care I received to be outstanding, the physical therapy challenging but not pushy. I never had excessive wait times for either my PT or medical appointments. I would recommend anyone reading the reviews to take into consideration whether it has anything to do with their medical care then Google the doctors themselves. See what their overall ratings are and make an INFORMED decision. I landed there because Dr. Hampton has won an award for one of Washingtons best doctors and he was in my area and as I said before, I have no complaints with anyone in the practice. If I referred my mother to go here for her orthopedic problems, that should say something about the confidence I have in their MEDICAL abilities.

When these didnt work, he said I should see a hand specialist. No one told me that Dr. Reddy wasnt a hand specialist. I then saw Dr. Tuck who, although very nice, told me that what Dr. Reddy had me do wasnt going to help. The wait times are atrocious and just plain inconsiderate esp for people with children. The appointment was for my baby who has a broken bone. I waited 75 mins to see the dr. He felt her and said bring her back in two weeks for an X-ray. I brought her back two weeks later where I waited another 60 mins to see the dr. Dr comes in and says it’s to early for an X-ray but it feels fine - come back in 4 weeks. Why did I come back then?? So I can pay my $50 copay and you can bill my insurance. If you want to waste your time and money, and risk permanent disability due to a missed diagnosis, go here. I came in with a broken ankle. The lateral process of the talus was fractured, with something the size of my pinky displaced. I spent more time filling out forms so I could be billed than I did speaking to the doctor. He sent me off with a note suggesting I get several (6?) weeks of physical therapy for an ankle sprain. Given that the ankle was broken this had little effect. I finally went to see a doctor who seemed to be more familiar with the way an ankle should look in an x-ray and had some surgery, but because of the time between the correct diagnosis and the surgery the chance of permanent disability is substantially higher.

Afterwards, he told me that my care was being transferred to the practices foot specialist (Dr. Witte). I was shocked--why did he ever operate on my foot in the first place if he didnt have the necessary skills or expertise?? Making matters worse, during my last post surgery visit with them, Dr. Peterson and Dr. Witte both failed to recognize a dangerous infection that had developed in my foot. My advice is to stay far, far away from this place unless you want to be a doctors test case for a new procedure!

I was very disappointed with the care I received at this practice. I tore ACL, MCL and meniscus from a trampoline accident and was referred to this office by the emergency room doctor. I wasted my time on 3 appointments (two in Rockville and one in Germantown) with Dr.Witte and Dr. Peterson and I will not be going back. The wait time is ridiculous (15 to 20 minutes before you get called and 30 to 45 minutes in the exam room, so you are lucky if the doctor sees you one hour AFTER the appointment time!!!) and the amount of time the doctors is willing to spent with you is also minimal (5 minutes, tops). This practice just reminds me of some sort of factory where patients are the products and the doctors are trying to get through as many products as possible with minimal effort. The doctors spends very little time explaining about the condition or the treatment plan with you (unless you come prepared by researching the issues yourself first and ask gazillion questions). The office seems to be tech savvy. Check in process is though the tablet (no paper!) and patient portal online where you find the visit summary that gives you the information discussed with the doctor is useful. However, the initial check in, which takes long time, making you scan your drivers license and insurance card, in addition to filling out many questionnaires, WHILE standing (the tablet is on the stand at the standing height with no chair nearby) was pretty cruel for people like me on the crutches and the elderly. Also its really sad that I received more information about my conditions through the patient portal than the actual visit (from the doctors mouth).I will be getting my ACL reconstruction surgery and the physical therapy somewhere else.
